@CheeseAndCrackersx Congratulations!

We went to see an obstetrician today because it's routine to get extra checks with a higher BMI and they sprung an ultrasound on me out of nowhere, I'm so happy, we also discovered that our baby is likely a little boy! 🥰

Aww congratulations too 🥰
I have my first appointment with them next week 🙂

CheeseAndCrackersx · 28/09/2023 14:33

So I'm 20+2
Today the baby's head measured 19+3
And the femur length is 20 weeks exactly.
Do you think the head being smaller is a concern?
The sonographer said all looked fine and stuff but just wondering if anyone has had that this time or prior?

I don't think a difference of a week is too much to worry about, I think it would only be a fear of the gap becomes bigger, like a difference of two weeks at the next scan or whatever. As long as everything is growing at the same pace I wouldn't worry. x

Shrillwaffle · 28/09/2023 19:50

@CheeseAndCrackersx congratulations 🥳 does anyone know what that list is looking like now? The girl boy ratio must be more equal now 👀

I’ve started buying things I bought a bouncer off Facebook earlier it has like lullaby music that plays and I’m a bloody emotional mess it makes me cry all this cute stuff 😭😭😅😅

Foreverhoping33 · 28/09/2023 20:12

@Gardenfingers23 i had exactly this last week a dreamt I had a miscarriage and was distraught! Woke up very relieved it wasn’t real.
This is my first baby and I’m exactly 20 weeks today and haven’t felt baby move yet. I also had an early missed miscarriage earlier in the year.
Tried to reassure myself that it was only a dream and just feeding off our anxieties but in the end I booked a reassurance scan which I had tonight. Baby was all fine and kicking away (still felt nothing) so I’m feeling very reassured.
literally less than a week till our 20 week scan but I couldn’t wait haha. (Still don’t know sex as my dh couldn’t make scan today so waiting for next week).
Im sure your baby will be all good too and the bump growing bigger is definitely a good sign. sending lots of love though the dreams are horrible! Xxxxx

Gardenfingers23 · 28/09/2023 20:26

@Foreverhoping33 so pleased you had a positive scan and it’s helped your anxiety. It’s also my first and I don’t know what to expect but some of my friends have reassured me that they also didn’t feel anything until after 20wk scan so feeling a bit better about things x

Cheetocat · 28/09/2023 23:57

I'm at 19w5d and haven't felt anything yet either. I think those who feel earlier with their first must be very lucky!

Mangotango39 · 29/09/2023 03:15

@Cheetocat I am not sure if I am feeling or not - mostly I think mine is trapped wind lol !!!

Kiwiburgh · 29/09/2023 07:16

I didn't feel my first baby kick until 22 weeks, second time round 18 weeks 😊

CheeseAndCrackersx · 29/09/2023 10:22

It's so amazing to be able to say he now instead of they 😄

Finally got a maternity pillow yesterday and I had a great sleep. Dunno if that was due to the pillow or cos I now know, I'll say both 😄🩵

MummyTo4BoysXXXX · 29/09/2023 11:01

Congratulations to those who have found out what their having 😊 did anyone get any exact measurements of baby on their 20 week scan? HC, AC & FL? Just wondering as I did so would be nice to kinda share & compare sort of thing 😂 also starting to feel her move more & more each day now, if they are little kicks it feels low down like top of my groin area? Also they feel like pretty gentle so I'm wondering are boys naturally like stronger in the womb aswell with their kicks ect? As it does appear to me this little girly almost has like little delicate kicks/movements lol compared to all boys I've carried 😂 still feels mental to say she&her 😂 x

Mangotango39 · 29/09/2023 11:03

Had my 20 week scan and all was well . Did find out I have anterior placenta though so proper kicks might be a while off for me

anyone else got anterior??

MummyTo4BoysXXXX · 29/09/2023 11:16

@Mangotango39 congratulations 💕 I had anterior placenta last year with my son.. just means baby has a cushion in front of him/her instead to kick & punch first 🤣 you will eventually feel better kicks & punches ect the more baby grows as your pregnancy continues, for me it was around 26weeks onwards when I felt proper kicks ect lol

mumtotwox · 29/09/2023 11:17

@Mangotango39 I've got an anterior! Had posterior with both my boys so this is very different for me. Im 20 weeks on Monday and been feeling movements/kicks properly this week. Not like posterior though 🙈

CheeseAndCrackersx · 29/09/2023 11:29

@MummyTo4BoysXXXX They could only get the HC & FL measurements cos he soon turned away when being prodded 😄

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 29/09/2023 11:40

@Mangotango39 anterior placenta here also, and things are definitely more muted movement wise than with my posterior placenta last time. Can feel more wriggles and squirms rather than kicks.

@MummyTo4BoysXXXX my 20 weeks scan was mostly 50th centile for this baby. My last one was measuring a lot bigger (80-90th centile) on all but femurs. So it feels weird she's smaller.

CharXo · 29/09/2023 11:45

@CheeseAndCrackersx what pillow did you go for? I’ve been looking for a while. I’ve used the big V shape one’s previously but I quite like the look of the wedge ones.

@MummyTo4BoysXXXX My kicks are also super low! I was about to ask if anyone else’s baby seems to be sitting low at the moment!

novamama · 29/09/2023 12:27

Hello ladies!

Congratulations to everyone's new scans!

I have also just had the 20 week scan today too, and all appear normal!

The only 2 "extreme" measurements for us are the femurs, which are in the 12th percentile, and the head circumference, which is sitting in the 8th percentile even though the head diameter is 30th percentile and the transcerebellar is 53th%. Hopefully it only means the head is narrow or something? Not sure. We are very happy to find all bones and organs and in place as expected 🥳

I cannot tell you what we are having yet because we don't know. We went with the scan notes at a local bakery and ordered a cake to do a little sex reveal at home tomorrow.

MummyTo4BoysXXXX · 29/09/2023 12:37

@CheeseAndCrackersx do you mind sharing your measurements with me just for comparison 😊
@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 see its interesting you say centile as I didn't get told which my girl is on? How do they do that? :/
@CharXo strange isn't it lol wondering when things will start to move up! Got a right droppy bump at minute 😂

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 29/09/2023 12:42

@MummyTo4BoysXXXX I got a little centile chart. The crosses were pretty much along the 50th centile line.

MummyTo4BoysXXXX · 29/09/2023 14:00

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 interesting wish I'd of got one of those just to see where she's plotting currently at the minute.. going to share my measurements just incase yourself or anyone knows where she may work out centile wise if that makes sense? 🤣

HC - 162.7mm
AC - 132.3mm
FL - 20.2mm
& her estimated fetal weight was 260g 😊 these were took at 19weeks+2 x

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 29/09/2023 14:08

@MummyTo4BoysXXXX I think ours look reasonably similar considering my scan was at 20 weeks exactly. I know the weight was 310 gr. Looks like my measurements are just very slightly higher than yours which would be expected as they were taken a few days ahead.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 29/09/2023 14:10

@MummyTo4BoysXXXX Just googled and the 50th centile for 19 week weight is 273 grams so looks like you're pretty much 50th centile there. Looks like she's tracking well

MummyTo4BoysXXXX · 29/09/2023 14:19

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 thanks for that hun 😊 are you having a boy or a girl btw or don't you know yet?.. ohhh so for weight she is tracking well is that all they base it on then? I thought they checked on centile for the head, belly, and leg length also if you know what I mean x

Nemo145 · 29/09/2023 14:40

I didn’t get any measurements at my 20 week scan, just told all looked fine.

For those considering a section, I had an emergency one with my daughter.
Just from my personal experience I wouldn’t recommend one.
I couldn’t drive for 6 weeks, though I did after 5 weeks.
It was difficult to even pick my daughter up or go for walks and push the pram.
I also ended up with a hernia along where the cut was made.
Each to their own though.

@DmcinT I had my stitch put in yesterday. Oh my word! I had to have one high up so I had to go to some specialist in Leeds. Last night was awful, couldn’t feel my legs or my bum and it felt like someone had shoved a mango in my vagina!
Feeling a bit better today, going to rest this weekend and then go back to work Monday.
