@MummyTo4BoysXXXX I'm having a girl. They tracked all of my measurements, including head, abdomen etc. And then also tracked the weight. Your measurements didn't look massively different to mine, but you could Google the individual measurements to check?

@Nemo145 ouch! Hope you recover well soon

LavenderSweetPea · 29/09/2023 14:57

@Nemo145 I'm sorry the procedure sounds a bit rough. Glad they sorted it for you pretty quick (and also I'm sorry but couldn't help but laugh about the mango in the vag description 😂)

I had my 20 week scan today (20+6) - everything looked good and we also did a check up on cervical length which was 3.9cm today (a tad longer than last time) so the progesterone pesseries seem to be doing the trick for now. I'm back in 2 weeks for a follow up on that though.

@MummyTo4BoysXXXX for comparison babies measurements at 20+6 were as follows:

HC: 180.3 (30th percentile)
AC: 149.8 (27th percentile)
FL: 33.8 (38th percentile)
Est current weight: 350g (22nd percentile)

Basically all were a little bit under average, but I did think at my 12w scan they dated him a bit ahead of where I thought we would be based on ovulation date so by my own dates we're only 20+2

In other news, following my internal scan when I got home a lost a large glob of dark red blood or something. Not sure if it was mucus plug or what. Guessing it's something to do with the internal scan and nothing to be worried about?

MummyTo4BoysXXXX · 29/09/2023 15:03

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 as you can tell I'm not so good with maths nor do i know how to do them online calculator things 😂 but thanks for sharing yours as it seems we are quite similar then for measurements 😊 How exciting! x
@LavenderSweetPea thanks for sharing your measurements hun, very interesting! So must be true are boys slightly bigger than girls then? 😊 as I have heard girls tend to be abit smaller that's all x

DmcinT · 29/09/2023 18:22

@Nemo145 ah great u have it all done. Yeah legs very wobbly and numb for a day or so. I felt quite uncomfortable sitting/standing for 5/6 days after but it deff eases❤️ I still need to watching sitting or standing for too long now so it’s just trying to balance both. Crossing everything our stitches hold baby for as long as needed🤞🏽 Did they mention when they would remove urs?

Nemo145 · 29/09/2023 18:37

@DmcinT I have to have a section again so it will just come out when I have my section, whenever that may be. Like you say, let’s hope they hold out. I think the latest is 37 weeks if I get that far.

Mangotango39 · 29/09/2023 19:51

Thanks for sharing your anterior placenta info . I was abit gutted at first thinking I wouldn't feel a thing.

I was exactly 20w today at scan and these were my measurements.
I don't have the written report yet but think everything was normal (they seem to do things different where I am!)

the HC seems quite further ahead :/
weight 345g

@MummyTo4BoysXXXX
HC was 168mm
FL was 38mm

@CharXo I just got 1 for £15.99 off Amazon.
Unsure if we can share links but if we can I'll send it 😊

Clueless13 · 30/09/2023 08:19

Hi everyone, sorry been a little MIA as not been feeling too well. Everyone’s talking about electives vs vagina - this might sound like a stupid Qs (my 1st pregnancy) but, are we allowed to choose? If so, when do we need to make that by?

Also, on the note of growth etc, I had my 20w scan last week, the said baby was growing “normally” but didn’t give any figures etc, but after my appt the updated my online account and I can’t quite make sense of the numbers! Can anyway please help? 🙏

Meeting · 30/09/2023 09:19

I feel a bit annoyed that I wasn't given any of this info at my 20 week scan last week, I was just told that everything was normal.

I mean, I don't know what I'd do with the information if it was given to me as I don't understand it but I'm constantly leaving appointments feeling confused. Nothing is ever explained to me and when I ask questions I feel like they brush me off and don't go into detail :(

Clueless13 · 30/09/2023 09:32

@Meeting that’s really frustrating! I would definitely push for more info, or talk to someone/PALS if you feel like your care isn’t what it should be!

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 30/09/2023 10:17

@Meeting they just stapled it into my mat notes without telling me - did they do that to yours?

Previously when I had Badger (different trust) they uploaded the charts a few days later without telling me

Cheetocat · 30/09/2023 16:23

My doctors are treating me like I have GD because of my BMI and I don't like it. I've been told to walk 30 - 45 minutes per day and I've been referred to a nutritionist too. I'm vegan which means I can't afford to be silly about nutrition, I take it very seriously. I also made very big lifestyle changes this year before pregnancy and lowered my BMI by six points so far which I'll continue, of course. I wish they'd just wait until I do the glucose test before doing all of this.

Also we've got another heatwave in the country in living in and it's 40º today, really uncomfortable conditions for those of us who are pregnant. 🥵

Meeting · 30/09/2023 18:17

Thank you @Clueless13 I'm thinking I might need to talk to someone. I can't even get hold of the midwife at my GP, I left a message for her on Monday about hip pain keeping me up all night and haven't heard back all week!

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I will have a look through, maybe they have. The sonographer said during the appointment that she would be silent for the next 10 mins whilst she checked everything, I really wish she could have talked me through it

amyg1985 · 30/09/2023 19:48

It's one of my biggest annoyances with healthcare @Cheetocat - when they make assumptions based on BMI. It's such a silly measurement. I hope you can get that glucose test booked soon.

I also hope it cools down a bit. I run hot in pregnancy and any warm weather leaves me 🥵

Mangotango39 · 30/09/2023 21:03

@Cheetocat I had to do a gd test early due to pcos and higher BMI - I did it at 18 weeks and still need to do it again at the 'standard' time - my levels were perfect!!!
all other bloods have also been really great, midwife really happy but still got the dietitian offer.

bmi is a load of crap in my eyes !

Cheetocat · 30/09/2023 21:44

@amyg1985 Yeah, it's really frustrating, I don't mind extra appointments and tests but the assumption that the tests will have bad results is upsetting.

@Mangotango39 Great job on passing your early test! BMI is definitely not the best way to measure health. Before pregnancy I was playing basketball and going for hikes and walks every day and eating extremely wholesome meals, literally the perfect prep for growing a baby. The only reason I slowed down the activity was because I had multiple bleeds in the first trimester, especially after active days. How do they expect me not to be terrified by that? 🤣

Hopefully we both pass the routine GD test with flying colours x

CheeseAndCrackersx · 30/09/2023 21:49

@Cheetocat
In regards to BMI, 1 thing which pisses me off is how they blame that on how they couldn't get clear images of the baby. Well how, you go under the tummy so it's hardly blocking is it!
I've had that in my notes for both of my hospital scans.

And also I can see the baby very clear on the screen so don't give me that BS! 🤣

Cheetocat · 30/09/2023 21:55

@CheeseAndCrackersx oh my god, yes, the average person has a layer of fat under their skin, it doesn't make sense that there'd be that much more under the belly in an area where you can literally feel the ovaries from the outside and such. They said that's what made it hard at my 12w scan but baby had his head turned the entire time, nothing to do with my BMI.

@Mangotango39 do you mind me asking what your levels were? I had mine at 16 weeks and passed it, but had 7.2 score when the cut off is 7.8. Don't know if that means I'll likely get it this time. I have to repeat the test at 26 weeks

Mangotango39 · 01/10/2023 08:56

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 oh I don't actually know - it usually comes on my online app but hasn't for this test (no idea why!)
dr did say it was smack in the middle of normal range though.

MummyTo4BoysXXXX · 01/10/2023 10:09

badgernotes app is aload of 💩!! Bring back the good old green notes!! Sorry to interrupt @Mangotango39 have just been reading thread to keep up with latest comments but I also to have another GD test to double check that I still don't have it, as like you they checked earlier on in the pregnancy as I had it in my previous pregnancy with my little boy. Nightmare isn't it, worst thing is I just hate needles! x

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 01/10/2023 10:37

@MummyTo4BoysXXXX did you only get GD with one of your pregnancies?

@Mangotango39 thanks! Sounds like yours will be a bit lower than mine, so all looking good for you

Mangotango39 · 01/10/2023 11:43

@MummyTo4BoysXXXX @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I wasn't worried about it beforehand then in the second hours I vomited everywhere and was pretty poorly for the rest of the day! Luckily wasn't the first hour or I would have had to start all over!!!!

it was the first time I'd been or even felt sick in my whole pregnancy!

MummyTo4BoysXXXX · 01/10/2023 12:33

@Mangotango39 it's suspected I had it in with my 3rd son but I naively didn't take the test, he was born at 37+5 weighing 8pounds8oz(biggest baby I've had so far) but my pregnancy last year with my son I discovered I had it at 28weeks, i took the test due to family history so yeah was a shock but I managed through diet control only & had to be induced to some other complications that arose but he was eventually born at 37+5 weighing 7pounds8.5ounces.. this pregnancy I'm having now with my first girl was a shock when I opted for the test and came back that I don't have it(as they told me if I were to fall pregnant again it would mean I have a 90% chance of having GD again) so just goes to show statistically their not always right! I'm booked in for 7am in morning on 20th November to double check again x
