I think the 2 appointments for partners is so measly, they should allow for a few more. I had a scan at six weeks to check for an ectopic (following previous ectopic pregnancy) and I desperately needed DH there for moral support in case it was bad news, but that's used up one of his two appointments so he'll have to take annual leave now for anything else.

DmcinT · 21/09/2023 20:08

@Clueless13 I’m not sure where u are but here in Ireland we get the full day for all appointments, antenatal, scans, gp visits, glucose testing etc… it’s illegal to not give this fully paid so I’d deff double check for anyone taking annual leave (depending on what country you are in) I’ve had a scan every week since 8 weeks so the days deff add up but it’s a nice wee break midweek ☺️

Clueless13 · 22/09/2023 11:18

Thanks for the information I’m based in England. My workplace just won’t seem to send me the policy, even though they’ve told me they will! I know when I googled it, it said it’s up to the employer but they can give up to 6.5 hours per appt

🤔

FTMCHD · 22/09/2023 11:53

@Clueless13 from what I’ve seen the maximum of 6.5 hours applies to the partners unpaid appointments not the mother

Kelb79 · 22/09/2023 12:30

Eurgh! This week is tough!! 😩
so my head chef fell off his bike and has had to take time off for torn ligaments in his shoulder, and my sous chef (who I hired specifically to be a back up for the head chef as I’d normally do it but can’t while im pregnant … high risk, don’t wanna take the chance!) has gone away for a week!!
so I’ve ended up cheffing again!! Not the plan!! 😐
we shut for half the week as I knew I’d never handle 5 nights but I did last night and doing tonight and tomorrow. The shift itself was fine, hot and tiring but I managed, but I’ve woken up feeling awful today, terrible headache and sooooo tired!!! I’m so so scared that it’s not doing the baby any good 😩😩😩 I’ve seriously got the fear 😐😐😐

CheeseAndCrackersx · 23/09/2023 06:01

Is anyone else experiencing/experienced sharp pain in just 1 boob/nipple?!

The pain and soreness in my left boob has woke me up.

At first i thought it was cos i was lying on it but I've turned over and it's stayed the same.

Rubbing & holding it is the only thing ease it.

Is it to do with my milk or is it just growing again 🤣

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 24/09/2023 08:46

@Kelb79 how're you feeling now? I think it's rough when you don't get to rest. I had a business trip for three days which was really full on with meetings and meals out and my morning sickness came back afterwards.

Hopefully you can put your feet up a bit in a couple of days

PeeBeee · 24/09/2023 08:54

Hey all. I am 17+5 today, 2nd baby and thought I started feeling baby at start of this week but nothing for a few days. I know its early still for anything regular. Would you call about it or would they not do anything about movements till 24+?

I didn’t feel dc1 till way later on than this however I had an anterior placenta with her, I don’t have an anterior placenta this time

DmcinT · 24/09/2023 09:01

@CheeseAndCrackersx I had it in both boobs a few weeks ago, really sharp painful feeling and if I’m cold now I feel them so sore too 🤷🏼‍♀️

I’ve a weird one… the last week or so I wake up every morning with dead arms, all tingly with pins and needles, anyone else getting this? I think it’s from sleeping on my side as I never would have before.

also, anyone else find sitting so uncomfortable?

amyg1985 · 24/09/2023 09:35

I think someone else asked their midwife about on-off movements, @PeeBeee and it was normal when we're still quite early. I'm 19 weeks with my first and that's what I'm experiencing anyway.

Yes to pins and needles @DmcinT - it's annoying!!

DmcinT · 24/09/2023 10:44

@amyg1985 so nice to know ur not goin crazy/not the only one with weird things happening 😅 takes me a min or 2 in morn to move my arms, they are completely numb🙈

MrsW9 · 24/09/2023 11:12

@DmcinT I am also finding sitting really uncomfortable, but it does depend somewhat on the chair! Trying to do a mixture of sitting and standing, and then lying down for a bit when I get home from work. Pregnancy has made me realise that my posture while sitting is absolutely awful - maybe that isn't helping.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 24/09/2023 11:27

@PeeBeee I think it's normal to have quiet days as there's still so much space in the earlier stages. I do anyway, and did in my first pregnancy.

CheeseAndCrackersx · 24/09/2023 11:53

At the end of 18 weeks, start of 19 I honestly thought my bump was just disappearing & I looked just fat again.
Well I don't think that now, it's gone bam again and bigger 😂

Baby has moved up a little though so where I was feeling the hands and kicks more pelvic region so I knew what they was, they're back feeling like flutters

Cheetocat · 24/09/2023 12:04

I am humongous, I can't believe it. Picked up some maternity bits yesterday because I'm struggling so much with my clothes. It went well apart from the soft bras I bought, I got them in my dress size since they didn't come in cup sizes and it was a disaster. My cup size is GG so you can imagine yourself what I looked like trying them on. 🤣 Definitely baby brain making me think they'd go on me.

AmyA64 · 24/09/2023 12:04

oh I’m glad you’ve said this! I’ve also felt a bit deflated and just fat the last couple of days after feeling very bumpy for the last few weeks! I’m hoping it’s just things moving around internally. I have my 20 week scan on Friday and it can’t come soon enough for some reassurance.

Is anyone else feeling shooting pains in their lower abdomen/groin? They’re very on/off, and only last seconds, but I’ve had them for weeks. I was wondering if it was movements/kicks or round ligament pain, but having read up neither of these things should be causing shooting pains in the lower region. Again I just hope they’re off things moving around

Kelb79 · 24/09/2023 12:29

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 thank you 🙏🏼 I’ve got 3 days off now so happily still sat in my dressing gown this morning having a late brunch after a late night 😁
I’m praying it doesnt kick start the morning sickness again! I’ve only just started feeling a little bit better 🫣🫣

@CheeseAndCrackersx definitely yes to the random boob soreness! 🫣🫣

and @DmcinT also definitely yes to dead arms!!! Wtf?! 🤣🤣 it’s the weirdest thing!!!

@PeeBeee I’ve been panicking too about not feeling movement after feeling it before but midwife definitely says not to worry. And as @CheeseAndCrackersx said it could be things moving around a bit so having a bit more cushioning for the kick impact 😝

And omg I definitely just feel fat right now after having a really obvious bump a few days ago!! I’ve finally started getting a little bit less sick (and nearly 19 weeks ffs!! That was a rough ride 😵‍💫) so the drop in symptoms and the less bump-ish belly has really freaked me out a bit!! Especially after working in a hot kitchen 😳😳 but I’m trying to stay calm and rationalise it!! You ladies are definitely helping!!! Thank you 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

That sounds like lightening crotch. Especially with how you say it's only lasting seconds.
I've had that since first trimester

AmyA64 · 24/09/2023 13:23

Thank you @CheeseAndCrackersx id read about lightening crotch in the third trimester but wasn’t sure if it was normal in 1st and 2nd!

PeeBeee · 24/09/2023 13:47

Thanks for the reassurance all♥️

anony1111 · 24/09/2023 14:02

@CheeseAndCrackersx I'm glad you said this, I feel like my bump has gone down this week too and it was starting to worry me.

I can't wait for my 20 week scan on 5th October, I feel like I'm just worrying constantly! I don't remember feeling like this with my first 🙈

MummyTo4BoysXXXX · 24/09/2023 20:25

@DmcinT me to 🤣 now I feel assured its not something serious now! When I have been getting the tingling sensation in my arms or hands was thinking I'm about to have a HA or something! 🤦‍♀️
@AmyA64 as we up north call it, definatly sounds like fanny daggers! 😂

AmyA64 · 24/09/2023 20:28

@MummyTo4BoysXXXX I’m from up North too, I’ll be using fanny daggers from now on 😂

MummyTo4BoysXXXX · 24/09/2023 21:22

@AmyA64 where abouts North may I ask? 😊 surprised you haven't heard of that before! I've always known it to just be called fanny daggers 🤣 apart from if your a midwife that is ofcoarse and have to use the correct term for it 😂

MummyTo4BoysXXXX · 24/09/2023 21:25

🗡 automatically comes up on my Samsung when you type daggers 🗡 in 😂 exactly how it feels in the fanny! 🤣 need to get rid of this "lighting crotch" term I think! 😂 anyone agree? 😅
