I'm currently 11dpo. Had a two faint positives yesterday followed by a positive clear blue this morning. This will hopefully be my second pregnancy due around 14th May by dates. Just wondered if anybody wanted to share the journey, symptoms and advice 🥰

@PeppedUp i said I’ve got gastritis so no alcohol or caffeine for a bit 😜

Snowdrop79 · 10/10/2023 11:08

Anyone else getting really warm? I’m usually always cold and hate being cold, but at the moment I’m feeling so warm around my neck and torso, I’m well otherwise so it’s not like I’m ill. Maybe it’s the hormones🤷🏻‍♀️
I also have a low level nausea constantly and just do not fancy anything, movement even makes the nausea worse for a bit, just standing up from sitting. Everything I usually love I just really don’t want, getting through on cheese toasties and some egg on toast for brekkie. I don’t feel like the nausea is that bad that I need to see the GP but just don’t feel 100%. Shoutout to the HG mummas, you guys are tough cookies.

TheBirdintheCave · 10/10/2023 11:11

@Snowdrop79 Yeah I did get really hot in the first few weeks. It seems to have settled down now though.

I know what you mean about the movement. I feel alright-ish if I'm sitting down but the minute I get up I'm retching.

Snowdrop79 · 10/10/2023 11:17

@TheBirdintheCave I’m 7+5 today (got moved back 5 days at my US but fetal HB all good) and the heat has only hit me this week. Hopefully settles down. How far along are you now?

Pregnancy is like chronic seasickness, wouldn’t wish that feeling on anyone. I would much rather a pain somewhere in my body rather than being queezy.

TheBirdintheCave · 10/10/2023 11:32

@Snowdrop79 I'm 8+5 today. Got another scan tomorrow (under EPU due to recurrent miscarriage) and feeling pretty nervous about it.

slowsundays · 10/10/2023 14:00

Had a little blood in my cervical mucus today and it's worried the hell out of me. EPAU will scan me next Monday at 9+3 but I'm wondering if I should pay the £55 for a scan on Thursday just to put my mind at ease before then.

What would you do?

TheBirdintheCave · 10/10/2023 14:05

@slowsundays Sorry you've had this. The same happened to me on Saturday night. As I still have lots of pregnancy symptoms I've opted to wait for the EPUs scan which is now tomorrow.

slowsundays · 10/10/2023 14:11

@TheBirdintheCave sorry to hear this. Have you had any more of the blood or just the once?

TheBirdintheCave · 10/10/2023 14:22

@slowsundays No thankfully, it was just one instance of pink when I wiped and that was it.

slowsundays · 10/10/2023 14:41

@TheBirdintheCave same here. I hope mine doesn't return and neither does yours!

Nina7 · 10/10/2023 15:02

Hi all! It's very interesting to hear about plans for NIPT...
I'm 38, so high risk, I don't know if NHS would offer it or not, haven't had my booking appointment yet, I'll ask them then.

Just a comment, I read a very useful thread here on NIPT, where people pointed out the very high probability of false positives (the 99% accuracy is only for a negative result for trisomy 21), so NIPT is not always something that will put our minds at ease, it might create unnecessary stress as well.
Also, they were discussing in that thread that early on, ex. 10 weeks, there might not yet be enough of fetal DNA to run the test, so check if your provider offers a free re-testing some time later.

Have you found different providers?

Nina7 · 10/10/2023 15:03

Also, is it true that threads end on the 40th page? That means one of us might have to make a new thread soon!

TheBirdintheCave · 10/10/2023 15:24

@Nina7 It maxes out at 1000 posts.

rachlive · 10/10/2023 16:04

Did someone say earlier there was a Facebook thread to join btw? If so please could I be added x

rachlive · 10/10/2023 16:10

@Nina7 thats interesting and I had read some things like that too. I had my booking app yesterday and the midwife said with my age she would recommend getting a nipt privately. The main reasoning we discussed was having more time afterwards for further testing etc should I want it. Whereas i won’t be offered a nipt on the NHS until after the combined screening if it comes back high risk, so then you are potentially quite a lot further along. For example I think CVS is ideally done before 13 weeks but I don’t really know all the details. She is having a screening midwife call me to talk me through it in more detail she said.

Twdfn123 · 10/10/2023 16:21

Just came back from our early scan due to previous losses. Thought we were 7+6 and we were measuring ahead at 8+3 with a strong heartbeat. We're over the moon and hopefully we make it to 12 weeks 💕💕💕

Due May 2024?
Holdmysunhat · 10/10/2023 17:17

@Twdfn123 what a brilliant ultrasound for 8 weeks. You can see a cute little face and everything! Congrats!

@Nina7 just been looking for the thread you mentioned. Is it the ‘False negative NIPT - be warned!’ one?

Aw thank you so much 😍 💓 💗

Holdmysunhat · 10/10/2023 19:05

Thanks so much @Nina7 That’s helpful. It’s so complicated, isn’t it! I don’t have much of a head for statistical nuances but it’s really good to be aware of issues around false positives. I personally wouldn’t hesitate to get CVS or amino if in doubt as I’ve been reading a lot about them and it sounds like the miscarriage risks are overstated due to medical advances since the data was first compiled.

Here’s to healthy pregnancies and babies for us all anyway!

junebuglb · 10/10/2023 19:42

@slowsundays @TheBirdintheCave hope you’ve both had nothing since and all is ok.🤞it’s always a worry!

Woke up this morning to some old blood in cervical mucus & this has carried on all day. Rang EPU and they just said try not to worry (lol), wait it out and call back if anything changes. Fingers crossed everything is fine. Got a scan on Thurs, should be 9 weeks. x

Nelliepledge · 10/10/2023 20:36

Hey guys. I had a 6 weeks EPAU scan last week, and was planning to get a private scan 9-10 weeks both because I'm an anxious soul and 6 weeks is so long to wait to see if lil bean is okay. My mum has really been discouraging me from unnecessary scans and is worried it will cause harm/distress. Has anyone heard this before? I can't find any evidence anywhere to suggest that it does. Xxx

TheBirdintheCave · 11/10/2023 06:52

@Nelliepledge Nope, it's just a personal choice :) It doesn't cause any harm.

greeks059 · 11/10/2023 07:57

Hi all, new to the thread 👋
I had a seven week scan yesterday and had an unexpected surprise... identical twins due end May 2024 😮. Both measuring well and good heartbeats, I feel really lucky. I just hope things stay this way, I know it's still so early into pregnancy

TheBirdintheCave · 11/10/2023 08:11

@greeks059 Wow what a big surprise! Glad they're doing well so far :)
