@BoodifulGoose where in Falkirk is the meet ? Hope you are feeling better x

BMK · 30/06/2023 16:08

@airmaxJ it's nothing to fo with anything you're doing or feeling!*just likely reducing fluid, placental efficiency, space ,or etc. These are things that happen yoward the red but the baby is considered full term at 37 weeks and only stays in if sll conditions ok. They are fine to come out with a bit of oxygen etc(ie are fully formed)from 35 weeks, if need be . The fact they're only assessing again at 38 weeks demonstrates how unconcerned they are re slow down! The baby has plenty of time and more space! to grow when s/he comes out!!!(';) don't be putting this on you- all mums are stressed, not sleeping and running in 100 directions. That's just normal!!

BMK · 30/06/2023 16:09

*happen toward the end,
**all conditions
even

airmaxJ · 30/06/2023 16:11

That's good I did Google if her weight was okay 5,8 lbs which says normal so thanks I have just been so lucky all the way through I got a surprise and yes they mustn't be too concerned then if I have to go back in 2 weeks time , they have the date as the 25 th so I'm going to look forward to that and chill out. Thank you x

newmummie · 30/06/2023 17:54

I just wanted to ask, what size clothing has everyone bought, I've only bought 0-3 & 3-6 and didn't bother with newborn as a lot of people told me don't as newborns grow too fast to get wear out of them & 0-3 will fit a newborn perfect. My friend has now just told me her 2 month old is still wearing newborn & some 0-3 is far too big on her little one. Do I need to run and buy loads of newborn? I'm feeling so panicked! What should I do? I'm a FTM and so new to it all 🥺

sommeliermama · 30/06/2023 18:09

@newmummie I have bought a small amount of newborn and 0-1 months, like a few items as a just in case. Majority of stuff is 0-3 months because I'm expecting to have a big-ish baby. Who knows though!

If we need more smaller clothes I'll just send my partner to the nearest big supermarket for more. Maybe worth buying a few inexpensive smaller sizes to pack in your hospital bag? It's so hard to predict what size they will be

overwork · 30/06/2023 18:10

Will it depend on how much they weigh at birth? I'm also new to all of this but have given all the clothes, so I have newborn and 0-3. Just little sleeved vests though so would be easy to pop out and buy more if they were needed? I'm assuming it will still be hot in August

BMK · 30/06/2023 20:37

@newmummie and @overwork don't panic!: newborn really are v small and I found when I for the first time was trying to dress what was my newborn baby into the clothes- it was tight and I felt that teh nurses etc were watching me like 'you are too slow, why can't you put it on. But I was afraid as he was so small and it was so tiny! Those only lasted both my sons 7 days max. Newborn only fit a baby under 10lbs but realistically they fit a baby less than 8lbs where you can actually easily -ish get them on. I would say go for the 0-3 and the zip babygros/sleep suits as it's so much easier to put them on (both re space and with zips instead of buttons). Buttons take time ans then you realise you've missed a button and have to start over again...
I have only bought 0-3 but loads of people will also arrive with clothes so I would say don't buy a lot as you'll have way too many 0-3 and 3-6 by the time all the visitors have been

BMK · 30/06/2023 20:38

@overwork it does depend, both weight and also length! If you're tall the baby will likely be long as mine were and newborn a squeeze re length

overwork · 30/06/2023 20:45

Thanks @BMK - really useful to know! I'm average but partner is huge so will surprised if baby is small... we shall see!

BCxx · 30/06/2023 21:34

I didn’t expect a big baby last time but he was over 8lb so expecting this time it will be similar. I still used newborn/0-1 month clothes for the first couple of weeks though. Certain makes were a lot shorter made so things like sleepsuits with feet in were outgrown quicker as it felt like it might be uncomfortable if it was restricting his legs from stretching out fully! I haven’t bought that much new stuff and have got some bits off vinted, especially little newborn/0-1 outfits for when people come to visit as I really grudge paying £30/40 for some of these lovely outfits for them only to be worn once or twice.

Matalan sizing seems to be huge. I was caught out by next’s ‘first size’ last time thinking that’s what I should buy some hospital sleepsuits in but it only went up to 7.8 lbs. I’ve got some H&M 1-2 month stuff just now that looks tiny so have kept that in with the newborn stuff. It really just seems to depend on the shop and it ends up so easy to miss using something then they’ve outgrown it!

I had everything (newborn, 0-1 and 0-3) all in the nursery drawers last time but I’ve taken the 0-3 out (unless it looks tiny) and put it all to the side in a box so it’s a bit less overwhelming and il be able to open the drawer and find things that fit straight away then once we get a few weeks in il swap them over.

BMK · 30/06/2023 21:40

@BCxx you're so organised!!(and cute) and also the newborn ones I got were from Next so I wasn't wrong re feeling like the only fitted a baby less than 8lb!! Mine also were 8.5 and 9.5lbs,neither fat , just long!

BMK · 30/06/2023 21:41

Also @createcomet where have you gone/are things OK?

HRSC · 30/06/2023 22:30

I have been given loads of short sleeved and long sleeved newborn baby grows and lots of 0-3 month sleep suits by my sister in law. However, my niece was born during the 40°C heatwave in the uk last summer and my sister in law said that most of the time she just wore a nappy during the day and a short sleeved baby grow at night. She is teeny though and stayed in newborn for ages.

My other niece on my husbands side is the complete opposite and was in 3-6 month old clothes by about 1 month (she is now almost 2 and wearing 3-4yr old clothes !!)

BCxx · 30/06/2023 22:45

@BMK thinking the more organised I start off the better chance I have of at least having clothes to put on her when I’m in charge of two of them when my husband goes back to work 😂 I have literally only sorted it properly tonight! Tall babies do seem to have that problem, things either look so big on them or they look like their feet are being squashed up. I don’t think it helps that they come out so scrunched you then suddenly surprise you by stretching out after a few days

BCxx · 01/07/2023 04:33

Happy July everyone! They’re officially due next month! I know some are due this month too, how exciting ☺️

Since I’ve said about the struggling to sleep thing it has got 10 times worse. My calm is cramping so badly multiple times a night, just been woken up with it for the first time and have to stand up as quick as I can to try and get it to let go. For some reason I get one big chunk of sleep then for the last few hours I’m asleep and awake so many times 😑

Amme18 · 01/07/2023 06:37

@BMK not struggling with cramp but with sleepless nights! I’m the same, a solid 3/4 hours and then either up and down for the toilet or just cannot fall back asleep for an hour or two!

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 01/07/2023 07:38

@BCxx I have been struggling with cramp in my calf in the middle of the night too. It is so painful and then like you I am kind of in and out of sleep the rest of the night.

BMK · 01/07/2023 08:18

@BCxx @Amme18 take magnesium in the evening or etc and no more cramps!

BCxx · 01/07/2023 08:31

@BMK will try that tonight, was still taking my vitamins with magnesium in them but actually forgot last night so that could have made it worse

Createcomet · 01/07/2023 08:45

@BMK thank you for thinking of me, I'm fine thanks just find this thread hard to keep up with on top of other things, but have been checking in occasionally to see how you're all doing.

I can relate to the sleepless nights. We've all got some horrible cough at the moment and I have no covid tests so can't do a test. Husband was up at 4am coughing, then eventually went downstairs but by that point I was awake and then started coughing, so I then got up with toddler at 6. I've had about half an hours sleep since 4am and my husband is now in bed still asleep. 2 year old is not potty trained but currently walking around the living room with no nappy on because he says he doesn't want one on, and I can't be arsed to fight 🤣🤦‍♀️ And we have my nieces bday party in 2 hours 😭

But yeah, I can relate to everyone's sleepless nights. I didn't get this so much with my first pregnancy but I'm getting cramps now, and I was up 4 times last night to pee, despite going to bed at 10 and waking at 4 🤦‍♀️

Hope everyone else is doing okay?! I'm only 33 weeks but I'm aware some of you are 3 or 4 weeks ahead and getting super close now!

BMK · 01/07/2023 09:17

@Createcomet can you just skip the bday party!? Has the 2yo turned into the easier version of 2yo yet? How is/are business(es)? Take magnesium to avoid cramps! But getting up to go yo bathroom seems unavoidable!!

sally16 · 01/07/2023 10:14

@Createcomet me and DS have awful coughs also! Been to the gp and chest is clear and have covid tests from work that are negative!
Think it's summer cold time! Not ideal when it's hard enough not to pee your pants 🤣

AnnieApple123 · 01/07/2023 12:08

@BCxx @Miraclesdohappen88 @BMK @airmaxJ @sommeliermama @MinnieFirstTimeMum @DesertSnow

Thank you all. It means a lot to hear your kind words. I am OK. We are still going to appointments to try to find out a cause of our baby’s condition. Amnio came back negative so we are now moving onto whole genome testing. There are still some rare infection results we’re waiting for also. DS will now start nursery in September so I’m trying to make the most of my time with him until then.

overwork · 01/07/2023 12:23

Oh @AnnieApple123 I hope you get your answers soon and it some small way, it helps you. I wish you a lovely, relaxing summer with your little boy
