BCxx · 02/08/2023 16:49

@DomesticElf amazing! Was on earlier to check if he was here yet ☺️ huge congratulations

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 02/08/2023 16:59

Congratulations @DomesticElf 💙

ChloeN · 02/08/2023 17:00

@Recoba I also had loads of pain when weeing, never a uti they didn’t know what it was! It must of been the babies head I think but it went on for ages

HRSC · 02/08/2023 17:53

Huge congratulations for the new babies! Love hearing these updates!

I have a really tmi question (sorry)… is it normal for the amount of discharge to change? Yesterday and today I’ve noticed that there is considerably less, as in there is almost next to nothing. I’ve looked on Google but it is not very helpful. I have an appointment with my doctor next week but unsure if I should be worried about this change or not. Baby is moving fine like normal and I’m 36+4. Should I be worried or not?

DomesticElf · 02/08/2023 18:39

@HRSC the amount of discharge varied for me a lot. At times it was a flood, and at others it was barely anything.

DesertSnow · 02/08/2023 18:46

@Rowanandremy I'm definitely getting frustrated trying to spot signs of labour at 40+4 now 😂. Nothing definitive yet.

Congratulations @DomesticElf, glad all went well. Wishing you a smooth recovery.

Welcome @emlouba. Do you know what you're having?

Sorry to hear you had a difficult time of it @RGxo13 but the important thing is he's here safely. Well done for powering through and congrats! Hope you recover swiftly.

How was the ECV @BMK? Hope all well.

@HRSC Never such thing as TMI. I think it's normal for discharge to change but do ask the midwife if you're worried.

BMK · 02/08/2023 18:56

@DomesticElf wuhoooo!!!! Congratulations and it's over and you have him!!! I am in a ward too but not post natal but it's also roasting!*ask for a fan??? Is it hard to fathom the difference 12 hours make: from never ending pregnancy land with the attendant worry then re getting baby and you through safely, to finally having none of those issues and a baby!
@DesertSnow thanks so much: it actually worked but was incredibly painful about 70% of the time, but it worked so I now don't need,I hope, a c section or breech delivery as long as it doesn't move again! It went to an oblique position after but then reverted so I really hope it stays put.I am so incredibly relieved!Who knew someone would go to such lengths for more not less pain...
You must be so fed up at 40.4 with no sign and so many others with further dates already out of woods. You still have 5 /6 days before they have c section pencilled in ? You can always elevt to decline that date in favour of natural Labour, or is there a reason they think baby would need to come out then?

Rowanandremy · 02/08/2023 18:59

@RGxo13 @DomesticElf congratulations! Wishing you both swift and smooth recoveries.

@HRSC discharge varied for me too, the week before I went into labour I barely had any at all when the rest of the pregnancy I was needing panty liners/tissue to protect my underwear. It increased slightly for a few days and then went back to very little just before I went into labour. I remember that happening when i was pregnant with dd.

@DesertSnow I bet! Here’s hoping that something happens soon for you though I wouldn’t take my advice on signs, both times I ignored blatant labour signs until my waters went and I couldn’t explain it away anymore 🤣

Registered ds today which was lovely and got discharged by the community midwives - it feels quite strange not to have another midwife appointment on the calendar 😂

emlouba · 02/08/2023 19:37

@DesertSnow Hello! Thank you! No I have no idea what I am having, I just have so many mixed opinions on what people think it is, so going to be a real surprise on the day! 🤍🥰

HRSC · 02/08/2023 20:00

Thank you for your replies @Rowanandremy @DesertSnow @DomesticElf that has made me feel much better and reassured! So many different things happen to your body during pregnancy, it’s such a minefield, especially when it’s the first time around!

@DesertSnow hope you go into labour soon. Have you been trying any of the ‘tricks’ like eating curries etc?

@Rowanandremy great that you’ve registered your son! Was it tricky to do? Where did you have to go?

@emlouba so nice to have a surprise. Before I got pregnant I thought I’d want to keep it as a surprise but I got far too impatient and had to know! When are you due?

BCxx · 02/08/2023 20:02

@BMK glad it worked but it sounds painful! Have you to stay in now? Are you being induced or just being monitored until you can go home?

Rowanandremy · 02/08/2023 20:34

@HRSC no problem, it’s an absolute minefield and especially with your first it can be quite worrying when something changes and you dont know if that’s something that is supposed to happen or can happen. Registering wasn’t difficult but because I was unexpectedly at a different hospital than intended, we had to do what’s called a declaration today and then apply for the certificates from where he was born - it sounds more complicated than it is because the registrar did all of the work, all we had to do was answer a phone call confirming our details and pay over the phone for the certificates. We went to the library for it, so many times a month they have a registrar in to register births, far easier to get to and parking is infinitely better 😂

emlouba · 02/08/2023 21:10

@HRSC thank you! I know I found it sooo hard at first not to find out - I still am dying to know, but will make the day really special!
I am due on the 28th august 🥰 not long at all! When are you? Xx

BMK · 02/08/2023 21:20

Thanks @BCxx !! No just in for monitoring and escaping in the morning!! How are you feeling? Have you had any let up from minding toddler/has husband swooped in and become super dad/man of moment by any chance/miracle?(';)

DomesticElf · 02/08/2023 22:23

@BCxx oh and I can report that Frida pants are great for c section post partum.
Now I am desperately willing my bladder to kick back into action so we can go home tomorrow.

BCxx · 02/08/2023 22:27

@DomesticElf great! 😊 oh I hated that bit, I think it’s more a mental game than anything else but I tried to pee so many times and hadn’t been in hours but just couldn’t go! I had seen something before I went in that said if you can’t go, stand up and sit back down, don’t sit there trying to go so eventually that did help

BCxx · 02/08/2023 22:31

@BMK hopefully you’ll get home and baby stays exactly where they are 😂 I’m fine thanks just very fed up now but only 37 weeks so can’t complain too much! I think he’s now realising how hard it is when he sees me hobbling about so when he’s home he is doing more of the lifting etc

BMK · 02/08/2023 22:47

@DomesticElf my cousin attests to an 'energy drink kickstarting your bladder, but I have no clue if this works or not!

HRSC · 02/08/2023 23:35

@Rowanandremy that sounds much handier to go to the library. I imagine shorter queues too? We’re going to have to get our baby registered in 3 countries !! - where we live and where she will be born, in the uk to get British citizenship (which looks like it will be quite complicated…) and then also Ireland as my husband is Irish. Not looking forward to all the paperwork and bureaucracy !

@emlouba I’m due on 26th but I quite like the 28th as that’s my granny’s birthday and would be so nice to share a birthday! My granny is quite keen for that too, as she tells me every time I visit her. 🥰

@DomesticElf hope your bladder cooperates and you can go home soon! 🤞

Paintandpots · 03/08/2023 00:04

Thrush is evil. I mean it. Seriously.

Anyway have cream and using it now. Bitterly disappointed in my other half and thinking to go stay with my parents for a bit of a break as he is just too busy with work at the moment to provide much help with toddler.

But at the same time i wanted to try and clean the flat before induction on Monday so that at least i could rest a bit knowing the flat is clean.

Crazy isn't it? How much pressure we put on ourselves...
Also baby is measuring a bit big hence the induction booked in.

@DomesticElf drink loads of water and run the tap as soon a you enter the toilet? That's how i managed it last time.
Congrats on the little one too!!

emlouba · 03/08/2023 06:27

@HRSC Aww yes that would be lovely - I'm hoping mine makes an appearance on time and not September as means another year off school but what will be will be 🤍xx
