@Createcomet you're right, it's not fun at this stage 😓I'm a first time mum but expecting to go over too, my pregnancy has been identical to my mum's with us three kids and we all went over. Kinda hoping I'm wrong though!

I really want to enjoy these last few weeks but in reality I would love to fast forward a bit

Createcomet · 01/08/2023 08:33

@sommeliermama you never know! It might be sooner. I think there's just no way of knowing sadly. I was saying exactly that to my husband last night...I think this will be our last pregnancy so I want to enjoy it, but equally I'm ready to be on the other side of it now!

LS888 · 01/08/2023 09:25

I’m 39+5 and so ready for baby to come now! My husband who up until recently has just wanted the baby to stay put for a few more days/weeks actually came home and said he wanted baby to come now! So had a clary sage oil bath and continuing with the dates and raspberry leaf tea in the hope that something may start soon.

I have a midwife appointment on my due date on Thursday where I can have a sweep if I want to. I’m still not decided but thought it might give me an indicator to if I’m dilated and if baby might be showing up sooner rather than later.

DesertSnow · 01/08/2023 12:06

@MinnieFirstTimeMum Yep, 40+3 now and feeling it!

@overwork no advice but hope your boobs settle down soon, sounds very uncomfortable!

@DomesticElf Wishing you all the best for tomorrow, not long till you meet your baby - looking forward to your update!

@Marmaladebear Congratulations on your little girl! I hope you're home now and she can meet her big brother.

@BMK I did think that if my cervix was already soft something might happen... but still here 4 days later and nothing. No sign of plug or anything. Guess baby is comfy in there. Fingers crossed yours turns for you! Have you been looking at the spinning babies website?

@CityKity Happy due date! I'm also feeling impatient. I know as a FTM it's normal to go over, but so many seem to have arrived early!

@newmummie All normal feelings I think!

@BCxx Can't believe we're in August! And whatever happens my baby will be here in a week as my section is booked for next Tuesday. So lovely to hear about all the new arrivals.

@Createcomet Yes, been getting niggly pains particularly where I imagine my cervix is, but nothing seems to develop so think niggles can go on for a while! Mine are mostly at night also, then I wake up and they're all gone!

Well if anyone else reading this has similar problems, MW was not remotely concerned. She said my body and the baby will now need to regulate my production and all will calm down.
First signs of mastitis are wedge shaped red marks following the milk ducts in your boobs apparently

BCxx · 01/08/2023 14:15

@MinnieFirstTimeMum oh it definitely was! I think we are possibly the same date if I remember rightly.. 17th?

BCxx · 01/08/2023 14:17

@DesertSnow not long to go at all for you! Must be frustrating if you potentially might not get the birth you want now but a week is still a long time in pregnancy land 😅 If you do end up with the section I’m sure you’ll love it and have a really positive experience but it’s just getting your head round to it that I imagine is hard when it’s not how you wanted it to go

sommeliermama · 01/08/2023 14:24

@Marmaladebear congrats on the arrival of your baby girl! 💗hope you get home quickly but enjoy the newborn cuddles in the mean time

BCxx · 01/08/2023 14:24

I’ve ran out of pads and had bought the bladder leak disposal underwear (nappies effectively) so have tried them out today after major leaking issues yesterday morning to the point I had to change my pyjama trousers 😑 (would be embarrassed saying that in real life but on here who actually cares now)! I think just knowing I’ve had these on today has made me feel way better and I’ve not been panicking about needing the toilet when out, not that that’s ever actually the issue though but it panics me a bit at this stage 🙈 Think I’m just going to have to live in these and some baggy long tops to hide them through my leggings for the next couple of weeks 😂

I had planned to wear them after the section, they’re the always ones, but they would actually rub exactly where you wouldn’t want them so just as well I didn’t put them in my hospital bag. I saw the Frida mom csection ones recommended so I now have them in my bag and it saves having to wash underwear when I come back from hospital. Have put a few normal high waisted pairs in too just in case I don’t like them

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 01/08/2023 14:31

@DesertSnow I bet you are, you must be so proud of your body though getting you to this point when it didn't seem possible earlier on in your pregnancy.

I would just try to relax and do all of your favourite things to get the oxytocin going and hopefully this will spur your body on. All your favourite foods, relaxing things such a facemasks etc. I have also been loving the My Little Coco bump masks. Fingers crossed she makes an appearance soon.

@BCxx ahh yes I forgot we had the same date. It feels so close but so far still.

Had my growth scan this morning, they are happy all is okay, so for the time being happy to let me keep the 17th date and not bring it forward 🤞🏻

BCxx · 01/08/2023 15:04

@MinnieFirstTimeMum thats reassuring about the growth scan 😊 I had it in my head they were going to book me for the Monday of that week so it now feels way further away even though I’m only waiting 3 more days! I think after this Thursday it might get a bit more real when it’s less than 2 weeks to go! My paperwork from the hospital all just arrived today and I forgot how blunt the ‘risks’ are 😬 My plan is to force myself to read it all now though so that on the day I don’t let any of those thoughts enter my mind and just sign it!

Rowanandremy · 01/08/2023 16:25

@Marmaladebear congratulations on your baby girl! Hope everything is going well and that you’ve had some rest, I was super eager to get home afterwards because as lovely as the hospital was all I wanted was my own bed.

I’m finding it so interesting that we’ve had babies born in July, so early but that there’s surprise about it - I always thought the expectation was that you’d be early. I don’t think I know anyone who has actually had their baby close to the due date and going over isn't something that’s happened either. I’d hoped to get to august but now can’t believe my son is 2 weeks old today, we’ve already had the baby broodiness! Not that we’re having another which is still a bit odd to think about.

Recoba · 01/08/2023 17:10

Anyone else finding it painful to pee? Not in a UTI type way, more in an "entire pelvic floor cramping whilst peeing" kind of way? Hoping it's just baby's head is in an awkward low place and temporary - don't remember experiencing this with my first.

Shinea · 01/08/2023 18:07

Finally signed off from work at 36+1 that's today!! I was so stressed for last 4-5 months!! This was much needed break before my section at 38w!!
Looking forward to spend some time with my toddler and chilling me time !! I know it's might be too much to ask for 😂😂

DesertSnow · 01/08/2023 19:10

Ah @BCxx you're right - a week is a long time in pregnancy land! It's just difficult managing expectations at this point.

@MinnieFirstTimeMum Thank you, I'm so relieved to have got to this point but now keen for her to come! Glad they're happy to stick with the 17th for you.

@Rowanandremy That's interesting, I always thought it was normal for first time mums to go past their due date. There must be so many different factors. I'm 40+3 now and no signs of anything.

OP posts:
Rowanandremy · 01/08/2023 20:18

@BCxx can attest to the adult nappies (or whatever they are called) being invaluable after birth but can irritate your lower tummy. I’ve been using them since having baby and while I’m a lot less paranoid about leakages and finding a toilet, the skin of my lower stomach has become quite itchy from using them everyday. I think in part because it’s made my stomach sweat and my skin is ridiculously sensitive. I don’t know if you could cut the banding down a bit, just had that thought and wish I’d thought of that before 😂

@DesertSnow I’d heard that it was likely to go over for your first but that was from the midwife with dd, everyone I knew had their babies earlier so I kind of expected that 😂 as you say there must be so many different factors, it’s very interesting. I remember with both of mine being so frustrated waiting for signs and then when I did get them I didn’t register it as something leading up to labour 😂

DomesticElf · 01/08/2023 21:05

Less than 12 hours to my planned section. Yikes. 😬 Will be 39+5. I am ready and not ready at the same time. How is that even possible?!

BCxx · 01/08/2023 21:12

@Rowanandremy i think you must get some
better ones that are higher waisted but these ones with a bump just don’t seem to cut it 😅 I’ve noticed them almost being stuck to me (where my scar is) too. Cutting that bit down is probably the only option. Hoping the Frida mom ones will be better for after with a pad (or two, I do remember one day last time literally stacking them on top of each other so it must have been bad 🤣)!

Can’t wait until baby is out not to have to worry about it, it went away instantly last time when the weight of the baby was off my bladder 😑

BCxx · 01/08/2023 21:14

@DomesticElf wishing you lots of luck! I’m slightly jealous, I do wish I was just going now 😬 Just think it’s a ‘happy operation’, the only one where you go in and gain something amazing from it 🎉

DomesticElf · 01/08/2023 21:28

Thanks @BCxx I am looking forward to being able to climb the stairs without it being a 5 minute mission with a rest at the top 😬
I got those Frida mom pants in my bag as well, hoping they will sit well above the scar and keep the huge pads in place.
Pregnancy and postpartum is so glamorous 💅

emlouba · 01/08/2023 22:02

I'm due on the 28th august 🤍

BCxx · 01/08/2023 22:05

@DomesticElf Oh it will be great! it’s just a shame we have to go two steps backwards before we get to that stage but the recovery will fly in! 😅

They look like they’re more popular in America but they seem to be ideal after a section. Will be thinking about you tomorrow, update us when baby has arrived ☺️

RGxo13 · 01/08/2023 23:05

Hey everyone! So my bundle of joy arrived on 1/8/23 at 1.26am. As you can see- quite a
long time from me first asking about contractions on here. Had a difficult Labour, my birth plan was to try and have a water birth but I could not manage the contractions without the epidural. I have to say, the anethatist was fantastic as were the midwives who looked after me.
I got to 10cm and my waters still hadn’t broken. Shift leader said she didn’t want them to break them, she wanted to see what happened. They broke when I started pushing but after an hour and half, still no baby. So was told foreceps or emergency c section after being in hospital for 12 hours. Foreceps - 2 pushes and he was out :)
had to have an episiotomy which stings like hell today and they’ve kept me in an extra night as I lost a litre of blood. So didn’t have the best first time mum experience but I do have the beautiful prize at the end and have never felt happier! Xx

BCxx · 01/08/2023 23:24

@RGxo13 wow, you’ve been through it! Huge congratulations on your little one 🎉 Hope you’re feeling okay and baby takes your mind off the pain for now. You will be glad to get home tomorrow

BMK · 02/08/2023 00:13

@RGxo13 so many congratulations on that ordeal!! 12 hours could not have been fun,nor the resort to forceps and tear. Were you exhausted by the 12 hrs?? So glad for you that that's now behind you; litre of blood too sounds extreme so I hope you're getting some rest/baby is a sleeper.
@Marmaladebear so many congratulations to you too!!*I somehow entirely missed your post: think I was typing a message when you posted and didn't see it then! Hope your baby sleeps aswell as thry feed!!
@DomesticElf very best of luck for tm!!!surreal isn't it. I am going for an ECV tm early so will be thinking of you too!! Your long awaited d-day is finally here!!! It's a bit like 'what do we do now!!! I have a bottle of Champagne and 2 bottles of red wine looking for company to mark the occasion!(sometime ...in next 7/10 days!!)
