Hi everyone just a quick update to say our baby girl was born this morning at 37+2 🥰 she's gorgeous and I can't wait to take her home to meet her brother. We were on the list to be discharged today but the lady who does the baby checks had already gone home so hopefully we can go tomorrow!

DomesticElf · 31/07/2023 22:15

@Marmaladebear congratulations on wonderful news! How exciting 😊 Hope you get to go home soon.

BMK · 31/07/2023 22:18

@overwork when they're massive and sore I found a hot face cloth or even better hot shower relieved them ie let some milk come out easily, however it's all the milk that's making them big so you just need baby to feed more but sometimes if they're v hard it's hard for baby to start getting milk out; probably not happening with you - it's probably just loads of milk 'coming in ' but the shower and hot cloth both make them softer and milk to come out and you have your appt in the morning where they may just give you a hosp pump for a while and/,or if you have one show hou how to use it as it is a Godsend re taking the milk away and then you have it for when you don't want to feed/are sleeping etc and another can do the feeding!
Congratulations also on your boy and to @Amme18 @EsmeSusanOgg @Spiralout @Rowanandremy and @RGxo13 and anyone else I've missed!! I cannot believe how pretty much noone bar @DesertSnow and ? @CityKity has made their due dates!!!
@sally16 my baby is still breech and today I thought she might be gone transverse however I am going for v. delivery notwithstanding: think am having to retain a Consultant privately at this late stage as there aren't enough proficient in breech deliveries to guarantee the service whenever I might go into labour. Have appt at 9am and hoping she's turned but hasn't to date and is apparently 'engaged' so odds are well against.
@DesertSnow if your cervix is soft since Friday you should definitely be looking at days and not go into next week???

BMK · 31/07/2023 22:20

@CityKity if that was the plug going- which it sounds lik-e you too should have baby in coming days given that your due date has passed too...

sally16 · 31/07/2023 22:21

@BMK if it helps I've been transverse on and off and today he's breech again but I'd didnt feel a big movement between the positions, only know because my bumps dropped but the heads still high again when I palpate haha!
Baby might still move 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

overwork · 31/07/2023 22:23

Thankyou to everyone who took the time to respond. Mum said I needed to watch out for mastitis and I just think if something we're to go 'wrong' at this stage I'd probably use it as an excuse to quit, and I guess now I've got this far I'd like to keep going a bit longer!

BMK · 31/07/2023 22:31

@overwork I got mastitis 3 weeks after last baby and you don't want it: was in hosp for 7 days with it and fever wouldn't come.down until 5days in. But my baby had an undiagnosed tongue tie- wasn't feeding enough and was taking in air with feeds and then terrible wind pain and sometimes/often vomiting milk back up.. However as this only started today it wouldn't turn into mastitis before tm but teh heat does do temporary release job.
@sally16 oh really??? When is your due date? That is good to know!!! I actually thought today that the hiccups were at bottom for a change but every time it's still breech so not holding out immense hope, but still some!! Yes your elcs cuts out a lot of concern re delivery

sally16 · 31/07/2023 22:37

@BMK 11/8 was my due date but having him on friday (4/8)
They said if he if I wanted vbac they wouldn't entertain it unless he moved himself, as he's so big, turning him would be agony and likely not be successful. But said since he is so mobile and fidgety the likely hood was a good outcome for him to move himself when my body was getting ready to labour!
I changed my mind about a vbac after my first braxton hick anyway 😂🤣

BMK · 31/07/2023 22:42

Oh @sally16 that's really interesting as mine too literally sometimes moves so much I think sth might be wrong, just a bit unusual..! So maybe there is yet hope! If my baby was big I'd be the same but it's average so they're willing...ish!!(';)

BMK · 31/07/2023 22:43

@sally16 teh old head getting stuck risk and prolapse of cord isn't the best but I think they're much the exception so blocking them out!!

sally16 · 31/07/2023 22:45

@BMK hopefully baby shifts!!! I wouldn't fancy a breech birth, or a turn though lol!
I'm totally done now, I'm 38+3 and can barley walk this week and so tired! Toddler woudknt sleep at all last night until 2:45!!! Then woke at 8 and I've been an emotional wreck! Was tempted to go sit in the hosp waiting room and demand to have the baby there and then so I could sleep in hosp 😂😂😂

BCxx · 31/07/2023 23:00

@sally16 I feel you and only 37 weeks here! Toddler has had a horrendous cold, struggled to sleep last night then I was up at 4 to pee then kept up by what felt like fire coming up my throat 🤦🏻‍♀️ heartburn has been in full swing all day and it’s getting to the stage just trying to walk about the house is becoming difficult! I feel like I’m going to be so bored by the time I actually have my section then will have to do the same for weeks after to rest! Really hoping not to go into labour and have it as drama-free as possible but it’s also a longgg time to wait like this 😩

sally16 · 31/07/2023 23:15

@BCxx how much easier was it the first time round!! No worry's about when it would happen and who would have the kids etc! Haha! This time I'm constantly stressing I go into labour myself and can't get anyone to watch DS and have to wait it out or go alone to hosp as DP and mum can't get home etc 🤯
Hopefully your time flys in! This weeks dragging for me 🤣

CityKity · 31/07/2023 23:33

@Marmaladebear congratulations on baby girls arrival 🥰. Fingers crossed you get discharged smoothly tomorrow!

@BMK I can’t believe how many July babies we’ve had in this group either! It’s definitely fuelling my impatience which is silly because I’m only 40 weeks tomorrow and realistically it’s totally normal for a FTM to go over. The same has happened in my nct group and all these babies are making me excited for my turn!

BCxx · 31/07/2023 23:34

@sally16 this is now my big worry, my partner is working far away the next 2 weeks and my parents are at a wedding this weekend so if I was to go into labour then I’d literally just go in myself! 🙈 It was easy to be able to keep it a secret last time too as I only needed to arrange my dog Walker to let the dog out and no one needed to know when we’d gone in.

Really trying to appreciate not having a newborn to look after just now but with the disrupted sleep and the fact I’m unable to do pretty much everything I want to do right now I think I’d take a newborn tomorrow!

airmaxJ · 31/07/2023 23:37

@Marmaladebear congratulations 🥳 x

@overwork I had really hard boobs so was recommended by my midwife the bellababy electric pump it really helped me x

newmummie · 31/07/2023 23:46

Congrats on all the baby arrivals 💖💙

I can't believe we're going into august now. I'm feeling quite weird at the moment, I can't actually believe I'm having a baby. I feel as if it's only now hitting me and to be honest I feel really scared but also really excited. I seriously can't believe it. I hope this feeling is normal and it will all pass 🥺

Paintandpots · 01/08/2023 00:00

Congratulations to all the new babies and their mums.

@Amme18 Amme18 congratulations! Hope you and baby girl are bonding nicely and getting lots of cuddles (and milk in Eliza's case).

@Marmaladebear congratulations on your baby girl! Enjoy the overnight calm before getting settled at home and handling toddler and baby.

BCxx · 01/08/2023 06:30

Happy August everyone! Can’t believe we’ve made it 😅🎉 Imagine if we could have fast forwarded to this point in December when we were hiding not drinking at Christmas nights out or when we were feeling sick and just generally awful in January! It feels like years ago now to me 🤯

Lots of babies arriving already and a lot more to come this month, how exciting! 😬☺️

Createcomet · 01/08/2023 06:42

I haven't been here for ages! Congratulations to everyone on their new arrivals, and hope you're all recovering well 💛

Happy August everyone! I can't believe I'm having a baby this month!

Is anyone getting period type cramps occasionally? I'm 38 weeks today and last few days I've been getting lots of lightening crotch type pain, occasional period cramps, and cramps in my legs. None of it feels like contractions but it's a sort of dull niggling crampy pain. I didn't get this with my son at all and have assumed it's normal but not sure?!

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 01/08/2023 07:23

@BCxx the difficulties we all had in December are such a distant memory. The lengths some of us went to to hide that we were pregnant too 🤦🏻‍♀️

Can't believe most of us will be having our babies this month 💕💙

BCxx · 01/08/2023 07:34

@MinnieFirstTimeMum I know, makes it feel like forever ago! As much as I hate being this size I think I would rather struggle on for a few weeks like this than be in the first trimester again 🙈

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 01/08/2023 07:36

@BCxx 100% first trimester was the worst! And not long left to go now 😬
Just hoping I make it to my c-section date. Yours is soon as well isn't it?

sommeliermama · 01/08/2023 08:08

@Createcomet yes the past few days I have been getting low intensity period-like pain, not distinct contractions just kinda sore and achy. With the occasional shooting pain! Feels like my body is slowly gearing up for something but then this morning I feel totally fine and no pain. I just want to know how long this will go on for - weeks?!! 😫 I'm 37+4

Createcomet · 01/08/2023 08:13

@sommeliermama it's not much fun is it 🤣 I went to 41 weeks last time so not expecting a baby any time soon, but definitely getting cramps mostly at night...and tonnes of shooting pains in the day. Kind of over it now 🤣🤦‍♀️
