@RGxo13 yes would agree with midwife that’s what point I went in, I’d stopped being able to breathe my way through the contractions easily and I was dreading them coming. Definitely could not talk/move through them! But all good signs that you’re on your way.

DomesticElf · 31/07/2023 08:28

@RGxo13 that's the start of contractions. Good luck! 🥰

BusyBushBaby · 31/07/2023 08:54

@RGxo13 That sounds like early labour! Hope things are all going well for you.

BCxx · 31/07/2023 09:37

@RGxo13 good luck! Hope all goes well 💙

RGxo13 · 31/07/2023 09:56

Thanks ladies! Just relaxing at home at the min. Intense pains coming and going but nothing regular yet. Keeping my fingers crossed today is the day xx

unluckyinlife · 31/07/2023 10:25

Good Morning All!

The pressure in my back and painless tightening's have been confirmed as early labor. I have watery discharge with Specs of pink/red blood which they don't think is my waters but they are monitoring it. I'm 36 plus 3 today so they are not too concerned about things progressing.

Because of the history of the pregnancy they aren't keen on leaving me in this early stage too much longer. I've been given until Sunday (37 plus 2) and then they will stress test the baby to see if they need to intervene!

Anyone know what the stress-test entails? It sounds awful!

CityKity · 31/07/2023 10:41

@RGxo13 Good luck today, how exciting!

@unluckyinlife no idea what a stress test involves (sorry!) but the optimist in me would assume it’s just checking in on the health of baby rather than anything that bad 🤞. Good luck making it to Sunday, but even if you don’t quite make it you’re in really good hands. What does labour feel like for you today?

I'm 40 weeks tomorrow and was feeling a bit down about lack of progression last night. This morning have woken up to browny discharge (normal amount and consistency - not as slimey as I’ve been led to believe the mucus plus is) and a bright red smear of blood when I wiped (this happened just once). Is this normal or should I be worried about the blood?

BusyBushBaby · 31/07/2023 12:17

@unluckyinlife Congratulations on making it to 36 weeks! Good luck with everything! x

@CityKity I would call maternity triage, they may want you to go in and be assessed due to the blood.

sally16 · 31/07/2023 14:10

@CityKity ohhh that sounds like your show!
Sounds like it's gonna be go time soon 🥳 not everyone has a slimy thick plug, it can breakaway over time xx

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 31/07/2023 14:26

Hi All,

I went to triage this morning for concerns over reduced movement, however as soon as I arrived baby of course started moving around like he was running a race.

We were monitored anyway and all okay, but they have now booked me in for a growth scan in a couple of weeks and mentioned the possibility of having to bring my c-section forward.

Now I am home I am a little confused why I would need a growth scan and to move my c-section is all was okay! Also annoyed that I didn't ask why I was there.

Anybody have any ideas?

I have had previous growth scans but they have always been okay x

CityKity · 31/07/2023 15:16

@sally16 thats maybe what I assumed, or maybe just some cervical irritation?

@BusyBushBaby thanks for the advice - it was the push I needed, and I did call and they told me to come in for an assessment. I’m really surprised because I really thought some spotting was normal
especially this late in the game, but I’m tend to be very laid back about these things in general!

Everything seems fine with me and baby - just had the usual fetal movement check no cervical exam or anything, but apparently I am having some ‘tightenings’ (is that the same as contractions?!) which is exciting to hear.

CityKity · 31/07/2023 15:22

@MinnieFirstTimeMum I had a similar experience going in for reduced fetal movements at 31 weeks, baby kicked off as soon as I was sat in the waiting room!

I had a growth scan booked in the following week by default even though the movements were perfectly fine, so many they do this by default for reassurance / just to check progression is going well?

About moving the C section forward - I have read threads on here about earlier c sections when there are multiple instances of reduced movement. So maybe they mentioned that as an option to lessen your anxiety incase this happens again and again?

All just total guess work, but it seems like baby is doing great!

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 31/07/2023 16:41

Thank you @CityKity I am hoping that they don't end up having to move my c-section.

I haven't planned on finishing work until 6 days before 🤦🏻‍♀️

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 31/07/2023 16:42

@CityKity glad you got on okay at triage too 🥰

DesertSnow · 31/07/2023 18:14

So many July babies over on the FB group! Congrats again @Amme18 - still can't believe how speedily she arrived!

@Dj20 Good luck with your appointment. Not long to wait now.

Happy belated wedding anniversary @HRSC, I hope you had a good time celebrating. Thank goodness we missed the heatwave this year!

@unluckyinlife I imagine it will just be checking baby is ok - I think 'stress test' sounds worse than it is.

@DomesticElf Not long for you! How are you feeling?

@RGxo13 Hope all is going well for you!

Glad you both got on ok at triage @MinnieFirstTimeMum and @CityKity. Always best to get checked out. Hope they don't move your date @MinnieFirstTimeMum, if that's what you want - I think the date was special for you due to family birthdays? (Sorry if that's someone else I'm thinking of!)

I'm now 40+2 and feeling like it's going to be the c-section next week. Was really hoping to go before then but despite having pain and pressure where I imagine my cerix is for several nights now, nothing seems to progress and I've not lost any plug or anything like that. Midwife who examined me on Friday said my cervix felt soft and like a labouring cervix, but I imagine that could be the case for weeks before anything happens. Of course I just want to get the baby here safely, but I was really hoping to birth naturally before the c-section deadline.

sally16 · 31/07/2023 18:34

@MinnieFirstTimeMum I was in for similar.. ended up my baby was transverse so they scanned me to check there and then and offered me another growth scan with the same intent as you.
I refused it because they said he was looking a big boy. So in my mind why bother getting another scan if he's coming via ecs anyway 🤣
I've hung on to my date for Friday but my pelvis is agony today after my bump dropped so I'm getting worried he's gonna ruin my weeks planning 😆
They always bloody move when your sitting in the waiting area don't they! I was tempted to just go
Home when mines did lol

sally16 · 31/07/2023 18:36

@CityKity if your having some tightenings then I wouldn't say irritation 🥳 I'd say baby's getting a shift on haha!

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 31/07/2023 18:47

@DesertSnow yes that was me, my husband, step son and I all have birthdays on the 17th so we were hoping he would be too 😂

I hope you are doing well, you must be past your due date now?

@sally16 at least I am not the only one then and it does make some sense. If I had thought about it I think I would have said thank you but no thank you. Instead I have been given a growth scan for 7:30am tomorrow x

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 31/07/2023 18:48

@DesertSnow ignore me, just re-read your message and see you are 40+2 🤦🏻‍♀️ it has been a long day haha x

overwork · 31/07/2023 18:50

Congratulations @Amme18!

@MinnieFirstTimeMum my Trust does a growth scan for patients who have had 2 x reduced movements, even if everything is fine, so maybe it's just protocol? No idea about c-section date though.

Please can I have some advice regarding my poor boobs?
I had no intention of breast feeding so hadn't done any reading about it. However baby fed so easily after my c-section I've just kept going, but I think I've missed a trick somewhere.
He's 4 days old today and they are massive and rock solid in places. How do I get them down? I tried @MinnieFirstTimeMum tips for hand expressing but only got a tiny amount, no more than I managed with the colostrum. I think that the milk has 'come in' today because I can now hear baby guzzling when feeding, the other side often leaks while I'm doing it and when he's done he has milk around his lips.
He's a bit lazy though, I have to make him feed every 3 hours and sometimes it's more like 5 after I've forced him to wake up and he's got round to deciding he's hungry.
It doesn't help that I think I've hit that emotional phase as I'm a bit teary and working out something new like a pump is beyond me!
I see the MW tomorrow so can ask her then, I'm just worried that there's something which I should be doing in the meantime before it turns into a problem.

sally16 · 31/07/2023 19:01

@overwork have you got a haakaa? You just suction it onto the alternative boob while feeding and it will catch your let down and soften your boob without stimulation a feeding sensation!
It's maybe just your milks come right in now xx

Recoba · 31/07/2023 19:07

@overwork second the recommendation for a haakaa - just attach on and it will passively drain the milk. But I remember my boobs were massive and huge and so hot the first time my milk came in - they will come down as baby starts taking more milk (hopefully more frequently).

BusyBushBaby · 31/07/2023 19:08

@overwork I think what's happening to your boobs might be normal, I remember mine feeling similar with my first about the time my milk came in.

DomesticElf · 31/07/2023 21:03

Ah yes, Pamela Anderson boobs under the chin once the milk comes in 😬 I remember those! I am also pro Haaka pump thingy. They will settle down regardless, I promise.
And I would strongly advise some nipple cream in the early stages. When they latch on feels like a little shark teeth sinking into the nipple 😬

@DesertSnow got my section on Wednesday, mentally preparing myself for it. I think I'm ready. My toddler is playing up, he is definitely sensing the change already. Hopefully the whole thing will go fairly uneventfully.

sally16 · 31/07/2023 22:08

Have we had any twins born yet?? I'm so crap at keeping up!!
