Thanks all!

Second kid, so was anticipating a quick arrival... Perhaps not to 7cm when they check me over 5 minutes after arrival!

We're doing great. Baby boy is a dream. Nursing well, and also enjoying snuggles with mum!

overwork · 29/07/2023 07:33

Aw well done @EsmeSusanOgg and @Spiralout you superstars.

Amme18 · 29/07/2023 07:52

Ah congratulations on all the new baby’s 😍 I’m 39 weeks and it’s so strange how SLOW these final weeks go…but also how imminent a baby is 😅 I’ve got a sweep today so hoping it gets things moving as feel like I’ve been in slow labour for like a week! On/off cramping and irregular contractions, slowly losing mucus plug and very uncomfortable!
My little boy turned 4 yesterday and so glad I managed to miss him sharing his day ❤️

sommeliermama · 29/07/2023 15:59

Oh wow, I haven't been on here in a day or two and so much has happened! Congrats @EsmeSusanOgg and @Spiralout on your arrivals! ❤️❤️

37+1 here, baby has definitely dropped down now cause I'm getting a lot of pressure on my bladder and pelvic area. Other than that no signs of anything happening soon!

DesertSnow · 29/07/2023 19:02

Congratulations @Spiralout and @EsmeSusanOgg! Lovely news. Though gosh @EsmeSusanOgg that happened so fast! Hope you're all recovering well.

Sorry you're having a tough time and your DH isn't getting it @BCxx. Not long to go now!

@Paintandpots I'm peeing every hour to 1.5 hours during the night (I'm 40 weeks today and baby is engaged). I've been trying to drink less in the evening also but it doesn't seem to make a difference so afraid I have nothing to suggest but can definitely sympathise!

I'm 40 weeks today. Midwife attempted a sweep yesterday but I had to ask her to stop as it was just too painful. She didn't get far enough to check dilation but she said my cervix felt soft, and like a labouring cervix, so hopefully all the discomfort I've been getting down there has been doing something.

I am loving all the baby news 🥰 congratulations to all of you .

37 weeks tomorrow, I have definitely started having new pains and tightening . But have heard this can go on for a while before labour starts. I’m so ready for little girl to come . How are people coping with the waiting .

I know a few of you have said about sleeping, I cannot wait until I can sleep on my back and front , this side sleeping is not comfortable for me. I have tried pregnancy pillows and normal ones but have given up now .

Got my final consult appointment on Friday where they will decide if they will let me go until my due date or if she needs to come before that. I just know this week will drag now until I know the plan.

sommeliermama · 29/07/2023 22:28

@Dj20 I feel like time is starting to slow down now and I'm desperate to meet my little one! But also hope she stays in there another couple of weeks to keep growing and developing.

Good luck with your final consultant appointment!

DomesticElf · 30/07/2023 02:19

Reflux is bad. Zero stars, don't recommend.
Toddler is probably coming down with something, he is not sleeping well and had a low fever. Why can't these last few days be uneventful?!

HRSC · 30/07/2023 06:33

@sommeliermama i feel exactly the same! So ready to not be pregnant anymore (so much PGP and ligament pain😣) and desperate to meet my baby but also want her to cook a little bit more! Time is going very slowly and I’m very conflicted!

@DomesticElf oh no reflux is not fun - my youngest niece had reflux and it was a bit of a challenge. Wishing you the best managing it. And hope your toddler gets better soon! 💖

It’s our first wedding anniversary today so going out for a nice lunch, and we’re actually on holiday staying in the place where we got married a year ago today. Though last year it was over 40°C, thankfully it’s not as hot as that now!!

unluckyinlife · 30/07/2023 11:32

Ever since yesterday I have had the weirdest pressure/pain in my back that doesn't seem to go away. I've tried sitting standing and laying and all of the above are so uncomfortable. The baby doesn't feel particularly low and although I'm having sporadic braxton hicks nothing overall too bad. The baby isn't back to back (it was last scanned friday) and I've had no more bleeding. I didn't have this with my other two. Is anyone else experiencing this? X

Paintandpots · 30/07/2023 15:43

@unluckyinlife When my back hs been sore and achey, I've found stretching my back really helps. Have you tried out some back stretches?
These ones helped me a bit:

Amme18 · 30/07/2023 19:58

Baby Eliza born at 7.07 this morning at 39+2 afte my second sweep yesterday! ❤️ It was a ridiculously quick labour which my body knows about! Contractions started at 2.45am, went into hospital at 6.15am and was pushing at 7am.
FYI for anybody that wasn’t aware you can tear forwards too 🤢
8lb 9 and both doing well, hopefully home in the next hour or so! Had to stay 12 hours as had meconium in the waters.
Breastfeeding like a champ! Xx

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 30/07/2023 20:18

Congratulations @Amme18 I hope you get home soon 💙

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 30/07/2023 20:19

Looking for breast pump advice.

I have somehow managed to get quite a lot of colostrum the last week or so, and whilst I am not wanting to breastfeed I am now considering expressing alongside formula.
Has anybody got any recommendations for pumps at all? I have my eye on the Lumina?

DomesticElf · 30/07/2023 20:55

@Amme18 congratulations! Fabulous news! That's a very quick labour, wishing you a speedy recovery.
I've got my section on Wednesday, but just like you, I feel like I am in latent labour for past week. It's all irregular and mild and start/stop. I just hope I make it to the section 😬

@MinnieFirstTimeMum it may be worth hiring one from the hospital to begin with, and if you are happy with expressing and find it works well for you, then buying one. Hospital grade Medela double pump is a good one.

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 30/07/2023 21:47

That's a good idea, thank you @DomesticElf 🥰

BCxx · 30/07/2023 21:56

@MinnieFirstTimeMum the medela seems to be a good shout. I bought the Elvie and it’s not hospital grade but I just liked the fact I could put it in my bra and hopefully do it while driving places etc so I then don’t leak or need to pump while there.

Glad your colostrum expressing is going well! Can you talk me through how you’ve done it.. is it once a day or more you’re doing? How long are you doing it and how long did it take before you actually started getting somewhere with it? I’m hoping to hold off as late as possible in case it puts me into labour before my section but I want to leave enough time to get enough syringes to be worthwhile too

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 30/07/2023 22:02

Thank you @BCxx I have also been looking at ones to just pop in my bra so I can do it whilst doing other bits.

With colostrum harvesting, I started just before 36 weeks I was doing every other day to be begin with. Then I upped it to every day but I was getting enough every day to fill a syringe a day more like 1 full syringe then the following day half a syringe. But today (37 weeks), I have been able to get two syringes full for the first time.

I am finding that doing it whilst warm, relaxing in my bedroom with chocolate is definitely working for me.

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 30/07/2023 22:03

Oh I would also say the first syringe took about 50 mins to fill and now it is more like 20 minutes but I still need some patience with it. How that helps x

Rowanandremy · 30/07/2023 23:22

@Amme18 Congratulations! A quick labour too! Hope you’ve been able to go home and get some rest. I’d had to stay in for 12 hours because I was induced and all I wanted was to go home so I could rest properly 😂 hope your recovery is a smooth one

BCxx · 31/07/2023 04:05

@MinnieFirstTimeMum thanks! Wow, that sounds really satisfying to have them full 😂 I should probably allow enough time then to let it build up a bit. It could put me into labour the night before it so the timing of it probably makes no difference really, if it’s going to happen itl happen

HRSC · 31/07/2023 07:10

@Amme18 congratulations! Hope you and baby Eliza are doing well. Such a lovely name! 💖

RGxo13 · 31/07/2023 07:23

Morning everyone. Just wondering if those who have had their babies or had a baby before can offer any advice? I’ve been getting what I can only describe as period type pains for the last 12 hours. They are getting more regular eg 7.06 7.14 7.19 lasting about 30 seconds and for me I would say a 6/10 pain. I’m worried this is only braxton hicks as is really low down (where my cervix is I imagine) and I’m only feeling pain there. I am getting relief in between these pains. Water hasn’t broken, had a little bit of clear stringy discharge in the middle of the night. I’ve always thought I’m not the best with pain so don’t know if I being dramatic when I say 6/10 but I a squirming and crying out a little.

RGxo13 · 31/07/2023 08:07

Called midwife triage. Said I should be in white knuckle pain and not be able to speak before I come in. Hopefully baby boy will be here today!

LS888 · 31/07/2023 08:12

@RGxo13 Hope you are feeling ok- hopefully you will have your baby soon. I would be the same no idea what to expect. Thinking of you xx
