God it’s hard to keep up with all the exciting news these days!

@Marmaladebear @DesertSnow @unluckyinlife congrats on making it this far!!! I know it was stressful getting to this point but babies have stayed put so all the extra days are bonus time now!

@overwork congrats on baby boy!! So glad to hear you’re both doing well despite the change of plan! Sounds like the c section was as smooth as could be, and it must just be such a huge relief that baby is safe and out now!

@DesertSnow I haven’t had any luck colostrum harvesting either but am trying not to overthink it. There’s support in hospital and hopefully the wave of birth hormones will kick start things (here’s hoping!)

Any non FTMs have any fun tips to induce labour? I know baby will come when it’s ready, but getting slightly impatient now (and bored on Mat leave!)

DesertSnow · 28/07/2023 17:55

How frustrating @Spiralout . Hoping baby is safely here now! Looking forward to your update.

Thank you everyone! 🙏 Baby Zachary arrived at 11:19 today weighing 7lb exactly! Absolutely smitten with the little man 🥰

Rowanandremy · 28/07/2023 18:57

@Spiralout congratulations! So glad for you, hope you are both doing well and that you have a smooth recovery.

How fast it seems to have gone from joining here purposefully for this group and now babies are being born, including my own, it’s so exciting and lovely.

@CityKity That’s an interesting question, I’m curious too. With both of mine I don’t think anything really brought them on until I was in active labour. I didn’t really do anything for dd until I was in labour and walking brought me from 0cm dilated to 10 in the space of ten or so minutes. With ds I was induced but before that I used the birthing ball a lot which might have helped my waters go but I can’t confirm that. If only there were one sure fire way to kickstart things 😂 how far along are you now? I got to 38 + weeks with dd and I was soo done and 37+2 with ds and again I was done and quite fed up but I was massive with him, dw kept saying it looked like I was ready to topple over 😂😂

BCxx · 28/07/2023 19:04

@Spiralout congratulations! 💙 Hope your recovery goes smoothly and you manage standing up for the first time etc okay

BCxx · 28/07/2023 19:13

I only had a few hours sleep last night and it’s put me in the worst mood all day. Everything’s just been hurting, my toddlers been a nightmare and my husband doesn’t really seem to grasp the concept of the fact I’m heavily pregnant. He’s usually great but he was lying on the sofa this morning on his phone before leaving for work and my toddler had a dirty nappy. He expected that I would change it because he was ‘just leaving’ 🙄 I was slightly astonished that I would be expected to get down on my hands and knees to change it on the floor (while my toddler kicks repeatedly) so I made him do it.

He then came home from work early but wanted to sort stuff in the garage so I was still to watch him. He even phoned me from the garage to say I’d have to come and get him, of course my toddler had the worst tantrum at that and tried to fight me off all the way in the house. I ended up pathetically crying at the fact he just couldn’t see how hard it was and that every step was now hurting by this point! Was getting the worst shooting pains and the kicks were so painful. I don’t usually get myself into that state but I was just so fed up and he didn’t seem to get it at all! I think he’s taken the hint now! An early night for me tonight.. can’t wait til this is over ⏳

EsmeSusanOgg · 28/07/2023 20:33

Never made it to induction. Woke up just after midnight with a feeling. Was in full labour in hospital 30 mins later. Baby boy born 40 mins after that. He's gorgeous - but I am super tired.

BCxx · 28/07/2023 20:53

@EsmeSusanOgg oh my goodness, that was quick! Hope it was okay though and not too traumatic. Huge congratulations 😊

Paintandpots · 28/07/2023 21:29

Congratulations to @overwork and @Spiralout and @EsmeSusanOgg
Hope your getting some rest and looked after by family or other half/partner whilst you get used to your newborn babies and enjoy cuddle time.

I have another scan on Monday and then meeting with consultant to figure out what to do about the baby who 2 weeks ago was measuring very big, just above 97th percentile.

@BCxx seriously men though, they have no idea how awkward it is to move and be upright with the pregnancy belly at this stage... toddler and I are staying at my mum and dad's house overnight to give me some much needed rest, it was hubbies idea, but he will also get a break from me and toddler too - lol so win win.

DomesticElf · 28/07/2023 21:34

@BCxx how dare he. Grumpy tantrumming toddler is especially difficult to handle at this stage of pregnancy (and they know how to push buttons at the best of times). Your DH should be stepping up this parenting gig while you focus on getting through the next few weeks. Sending strength.

@Spiralout congratulations! Wishing you a speedy recovery!
@EsmeSusanOgg wow, that's a one quick labour. Was your first one quick too? Congratulations on your new arrival 😊

@CityKity apparently the best way to kickstart labour is by having sex and going on walks. Sex is the last thing I want right now to be honest 🤣 Also eating 6 dates a day for 4 weeks is supposed to help with labour too.

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 28/07/2023 21:40

@Spiralout and @EsmeSusanOgg massive congratulations on your arrivals.
I hope you are both recovering well 🥰

LS888 · 28/07/2023 22:15

Congratulations @EsmeSusanOgg! xx

LS888 · 28/07/2023 22:15

Congratulations @Spiralout just catching up and missed your news! xx

BCxx · 28/07/2023 22:15

@Paintandpots that sounds ideal! My mum has been helping me out a lot during the day as well. Men just don’t seem to get it though, I am visibly massive at this point and have to shuffle myself forward before attempting to stand up to get off the sofa so how hard is it to see that you should be doing A LOT 🙈

BCxx · 28/07/2023 22:20

@DomesticElf thanks! Totally! My toddler has picked his time to really go for it with the front flips on my bed while I try to dress him in the morning as well etc so it’s becoming more and more impossible to manage it myself and you shouldn’t really need to ask or point it out. I think he must just think I’m a bit slower than normal and doesn’t actually consider I’m having to lift a fully grown baby everywhere I go 🤷🏻‍♀️ men!

airmaxJ · 28/07/2023 22:27

@Spiralout @EsmeSusanOgg congratulations to you both x

CityKity · 28/07/2023 22:38

Wow @EsmeSusanOgg this isn’t your first surely?! There’s no way I’d know what was going on and make it to hospital that quickly!!
Massive congratulations, what a whirlwind labour. I hope you and baby are doing well ❤️

@Rowanandremy 39w+3 today! So no right to be as impatient as I am but seeing all these babies come here (and in my nct group) has got me really excited/nervous/impatient 😅. I know deep down babies just come when they’re ready!

@BCxx I’m not sleeping well at the moment and it really doesn’t help at all does it. I’m honestly in awe of you doing this with a toddler in tow! My DH who is wonderful has been equally rubbish and expecting me to crack on as usual, and I partly blame myself for setting those expectations that I didn’t want to be mollycoddled but now at this late stage I just want to laze around all day without judgement!

CityKity · 28/07/2023 22:46

@DomesticElf I’ve heard that sex induces labour, even my midwife suggested it, and clarified that it has to be orgasmic to get the oxytocin flowing. That may work for some, but there is no way me and DH are going to have the time of our lives when I feel like a whale and don’t even think any positions I’d prefer are doable right now (sorry if tmi)!
The walks and dates I will try though! Annoyingly I’ve been getting some pain walking recently (round ligament maybe? Or pgp?) and some days I can walk for hours on end and other days I’ll
be stopping for a break after 10mins

Rowanandremy · 28/07/2023 23:04

@EsmeSusanOgg Congratulations! No wonder you are tired, that’s one hell of a wake up and a quick labour. Hope you are able to get some rest, I had my son quick too and he mostly slept for a while after because of it 😂

@CityKity I’d say you have every right to be impatient 😂 I was soo done with both of mine by 37 weeks, dd because her head was fully engaged and causing discomfort when I walked and ds because I was huge 😂 hopefully you won’t have long to go, I’m so excited reading all of the updates of babies being born - I keep checking in everyday wondering who is next 😂

Paintandpots · 28/07/2023 23:15

Just to ask, but urination every 1.5 hours at night seems a tad bit excessive doesn't it?
Baby is engaged and I'm 37 weeks now and trying to limit how much water i drink in the evening time. Honestly its exaustion having to get up so much. Baby is moving right now kind of side to side it feels lol. Toddler is asleep thank goodness and hope he sleeps through the night this time.

Spiralout · 29/07/2023 02:26

Thank you everyone, still can’t quite believe he was in my tummy just over 12 hours ago - crazy what our bodies can grow!

@EsmeSusanOgg congratulations 🎉 wow that is a speedy arrival. Hope you are doing well and enjoying the cuddles 🥰

HRSC · 29/07/2023 05:53

@Spiralout @EsmeSusanOgg congratulations to you both! It’s so exciting all the babies now coming! Hope you’re both doing well.

It seems like lots of babies are coming before their due dates?

BCxx · 29/07/2023 06:09

@Spiralout no matter how many times I think about it it still completely blows my mind. I think even though I’ve done it before I will still be equally as shocked when I see an actual baby has came out! 😂

BCxx · 29/07/2023 06:11

@Paintandpots that sounds hard going 😩 I’m like that during the day but for some reason my bladder seems to be able to hold out until 5/6 most mornings. Not sure what else you can do though if you’re already trying to drink less at night!

BCxx · 29/07/2023 06:18

@CityKity I think that’s the problem, if you don’t milk it to the extreme from the start it’s as if they just forget how hard it is for us! I’m really trying to keep on saying about how hard the csection recovery will be and the fact he will be doing everything for the first week just to drum that in just now 😂
