I just need to stock up on some post birth laxatives. Oh the glamour 😂

DesertSnow · 27/07/2023 15:26

@BCxx The 'how are you' and 'no baby yet?' texts are driving me slightly mad 😂I'm sure people mean well but this is exactly why I really didn't want to give anyone my due date. Ended up doing so because people got a bit funny about me not saying, but I'm regretting it!

@Paintandpots Badger notes is so annoying! My growth chart seems to have disappeared from there completely now, which is super helpful as my baby is predicted to be SGA or FGR so good to keep an eye on. And there's never any info on there after tests/appointments.

Congrats on your little girl @airmaxJ! ❤Glad to hear the section went well.

@HRSC Sorry you tested positive for group b strep, but better to know now and they can be on top of it.

@Marmaladebear I'm so sorry you're feeling not listened to again. The stats really are awful. Sounds like you might be welcoming your little one soon!

@marleyandme So lovely to hear you talk about the good bits, and I'm sure you'll overcome the lows. Hope the tongue tie specialist helped!

@MinnieFirstTimeMum I was big on exercise before pregnancy, but now my PGP is so severe that even a 20 minute slow walk is excruciating. Hats off to everyone still exercising! I'm definitely missing it as stress relief/alone time.

Hope things are progressing well @overwork!

So exciting you've got your date @DomesticElf!

Glad baby is still cooking away @unluckyinlife.

I'm still not managing to harvest any colostrum. Just hoping it doesn't mean I'm not making any - I've been trying every other day for 30 minutes since 37 weeks, and nothing. Tried all the tips so feeling a bit down about that.

I had my fetal MRI this week which was an intense experience. Don't have results back yet. Unfortunately I think the position I had to lie in really aggravated my PGP and now I can barely walk, which is making me feel miserable when I feel like I should be getting excited.

Can't believe it's my due date in 2 days, and latest baby will be here is 12 days as they've booked in a section if she doesn't show up before then.

Sounds like we'll have quite a few new babies before that, lots of people sound like they're showing promising signs! 😊

Our little boy is here - Thankyou for checking in.
Birth was a bit of a disaster really if you go by following the plan, but he's here safe and well (bar low blood sugars), and I'm safe and well so I'll frame it as a success!
When I arrived in hospital 24 hours after my waters had broke I was at 2cm, so they said I had to go on the induction drip which completely threw me for a start.
Had pethidine which worked so well I slept for most of the night.
Then panicked and had an epidural as well which was something I'd hoped to avoid, did not like the feeling of helplessness at all but it turned out to be useful.
36 hours after my waters had broken me and baby got an infection and as I'd only progressed to 4cm they strongly suggested a c-section. It does count as an emergency c-section but it felt anything but, it was very relaxed and calm.

unluckyinlife · 27/07/2023 15:56

@overwork congratulations on the birth of your baby boy.

@DesertSnow you must be feeling so relieved with your due date just 2 days away given I know you were also grateful for everyday baby was cooking away.

37 weeks was a distant hope for me a few weeks ago and being just 8 days away feels like such a blessing.

Congratulations to everyone else with their babies already here and those with CS/induction dates, good luck and I am so excited to hear your birth announcements ❤️

Marmaladebear · 27/07/2023 16:05

@overwork yay congratulations on the same arrival of baby boy!! Glad you're both doing well 💕

Marmaladebear · 27/07/2023 16:17

Safe**

airmaxJ · 27/07/2023 16:26

@overwork congrats 🎉 all safe and sound now that's good I'm glad to hear it x

DomesticElf · 27/07/2023 16:28

@overwork congratulations, lovely! Speedy recovery to you! X

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 27/07/2023 16:30

@DesertSnow if I had PGP I certainly wouldn't be pushing through with the exercise.

I am 37 weeks on Sunday so I am thinking that might be a good time to call it quits other than walking my dog walks. I will see.

Two more weeks at work from today so starting to feel like I soo lethargic and cannot concentrate.

With regard to colostrum harvesting I was really struggling and getting nothing until I followed this video

I found the massaging did not work, but the brushing down technique did. Sorry if you have already tried this way x

EsmeSusanOgg · 27/07/2023 16:35

@DesertSnow I could not get colostrum with my first. But he had no issues getting it. Don't over do trying to get stuff if you can avoid it - I gave myself a blocked duct and mastitis in the first week post partum. It was grim! Babies are very good at getting milk. And if it doesn't work, the midwives will have emergency formula on hand. I had to do a bit of a combi feed and use nipples shields in the early days - but was able to breastfeed for 3 years (caveat, I had planned to wean earlier than that... But try WFH with a toddler during lockdown. Screen time and boobies were essential tools!).

With this pregnancy, I'm already dripping colostrum. In for induction tomorrow.

EsmeSusanOgg · 27/07/2023 16:36

Massive congrats @overwork

So infuriating 🙈 I think people are half trying to appear nice but it’s also just utter noseyness. I had someone from work message last time on the week she knew I’d most likely be having my section asking how I was. I read it in hospital an hour after baby had arrived and it just angered me! Like she was trying to find out first

Ha. I find people stop asking this pretty quickly when you start talking about losing mucus plugs etc. Innocent face

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 27/07/2023 17:08

@overwork congratulations on the arrival of your baby boy 💙

I wish you a speedy recovery x

overwork · 27/07/2023 17:37

Ooh, and, despite my protestations about refusing to milk myself, the midwife showed my partner and I how to hand express and we've been doing it together today - so there's certainly still hope for those of you who wanted to do it!

BCxx · 27/07/2023 17:41

@overwork congratualtions! So glad he’s here safe and sound 💙 That’s a shame about your whole experience in the lead up to it 😔 hope you’re recovering okay after the section and taking it as easy as you can

BCxx · 27/07/2023 17:42

@overwork so glad you’ve managed to milk yourself too 😂

HRSC · 27/07/2023 17:45

@overwork congratulations! Hope you are both doing ok and recover well! 🧡

DesertSnow · 27/07/2023 18:27

@overwork Congrats! Glad you're both doing well, though sorry your plan got shaken up. Wishing you a smooth recovery.

@unluckyinlife Feeling unbelievably relieved and grateful to have made it this far.

@MinnieFirstTimeMum Thanks for sharing the video, I had already seen it but didn't work for me unfortunately.

Thanks @EsmeSusanOgg I know ultimately fed is best and they won't let my baby go hungry if I can't manage. Hopefully she'll be more effective than me. Hope induction goes smoothly for you.

Spiralout · 27/07/2023 19:24

So my section was booked for today, after several hours sitting around in the gown I was told they weren’t going to have time for me today and so got sent back home 😭😖 was absolutely starving and so thirsty by that point.
Have to go back tomorrow and we try again.

BCxx · 27/07/2023 19:35

@Spiralout aw that’s so gutting 😔 must have been a whole mix of feelings getting ready to go then just to get sent away. I have heard of it happening a lot unfortunately! Fingers crossed they don’t make you wait too long tomorrow

Spiralout · 27/07/2023 19:39

@BCxx it has definitely been an emotional
rollercoaster of a day! Feel quite drained. Hoping to get some sleep tonight!

Marmaladebear · 27/07/2023 21:48

@Spiralout hope you get some rest and they see you as soon as possible/when they're supposed to tomorrow!!

Approximately 26 more hours until I'll be considered full term... So grateful to have made it this far - really wasn't looking likely on Sunday!

Rowanandremy · 28/07/2023 09:48

@overwork congratulations! So glad your baby was born safely, hope you are both doing well and that you have a smooth recovery.

@Spiralout hope you were able to get some sleep and that today is the day for you and baby!

BCxx · 28/07/2023 11:57

@Spiralout good luck for today.. Hope baby is already here!
