Here is promised thread jessi! Congratulations too Ellasmum and jessi - Ellasmum, my due date will be about 20th July I think. Haven't seen any midwife or doctor yet - trying to remember what I did when last time!

Musica, I bled twice suring my last pregnancy at about 7 and 9 weeks and now have a bouncing 14 month old. I know it's impossible but try not to worry and relax.

Melly · 17/12/2002 14:19

Musica, hope you're doing ok, know how you feel from past experience, it's a horrible and anxious time isn't it. Jodiesmum, also sympathise completely with you - had bleeding in this pregnancy (now 23 weeks) from 6 - 12 weeks and then had amnio at 16 weeks which is tough when you have finally reached the "safe" stage. All the best with the amnio and do let us know how you get on.
Sorry if I'm intruding on this thread, my baby due in April), but just wanted to give my support.

bundle · 17/12/2002 14:23

musica, i too had v light bleeding around 13 weeks, just after we'd told everyone I was pregnant! now have 2 1/2 yr old dd and the bleeding didn't recur. jodiesmum, good luck with the amnio..i've had 2 now and though they weren't that nice I'm glad I had them both. the staff were terrific

Jodiesmum · 19/12/2002 10:47

Thanks Melly and Bundle, it's lovely to hear from people who've done it and come through OK. I'm feeling dreadful as the amnio date gets closer and wondering if I'll actually go through with it. It feels like tempting fate or even downright ingratitude - just when the pregnancy has finally settled down, I'm doing something to jeopardise it. But cancelling the amnio doesn't really feel like the right thing either. I think I'm in a weird state of mind at present - very hormonal plus coming up to the first anniversary of my dad's death - and am tending to imagine awful things happening for no reason.

ellasmum · 19/12/2002 20:55

Hi everyone..

I have had a terrible few days and have basically been in bed since yesterday. I have had the most incredible headache and have been being sick on a regular basis - all very strange as I havn't really been sick up to now and as I am nearly 12 weeks thought it should all be over by now.

Not sure what is causing the headache - went to the doctor who said it was probably just a tension headache - but why am I being sick as well??

To be honest I am quite worried about the way I am feeling as it doesn't seem to be getting any better and I am concerend about the effect it is having on the little one. Has anyone else had really bad headaches with sickness or any suggestions about what I can do. I am sick of feeling sick all day!!!

Sorry to have a moan but am really quite down today.

Jodiesmum - hope amnio goes OK.

musica · 19/12/2002 22:31

The other night I had to go to bed really early, feeling sick, with a horrendous headache - don't know if it could be the same thing - I put it down to either not eating enough, and low blood sugar, or not drinking enough, and being a bit dehydrated.

Sorry you're feeling bad Ellasmum - hope you feel better soon!

Thought I'd take a sneaky look at this one.....Congratulations Bron, hope it goes well.

janh · 22/12/2002 20:17

Hi, Bron - congratulations - sympathise re nearly-throwing-up + tiredness but it will pass!

We also have birthdays 3 years (and 5 days) apart. Best one was at 9 and 6 - I hired the number birthday cake tin and made both cakes from the same one! Had several other communal parties too.

Next April we have 21 and 18 the same week and are having a huge bash (it also kind of coincides with 50ths and silver wedding). Something for you to look forward to!

ellasmum · 23/12/2002 11:39

Congrats Bron. I am feeling much better and am now convinced it was a bug and not pregnancy related - hopefully it hasn't caused any problems.

Enid · 23/12/2002 19:38

Congrats Bron

OuiOui · 24/12/2002 09:17

Congratulations to Bron.

Sympathies to Ellasmum - I too have been ill for almost 2 weeks now and can't seem to shake it. Bad headeaches, horrendous sinusitis, tickly cough and vomiting (as a result). I'm now 15 weeks!!! Pharmacist said I couldn't take anything other than Olbas inhalation - anyone else got suggestions?
happy Holidays!

champs · 02/01/2003 01:31

MELIWHITE · 02/01/2003 17:24

Hi, Am in my 10th week now, and haven't heard anything from any doctors or midwives. I saw my doctor to confirm my pregnancy at 5 weeks. He said I should hear shortly from different people, who would make appointments for me. Should I be chasing the doctor up, or is it normal not to hear anything? Appreciate any advise as i don't know anyone in the same situation.

musica · 02/01/2003 18:02

I had to make my own midwife appointment - where I live, the doctor's practice you are with should be linked to a midwives unit, and you make your own booking appointment, having seen the GP first. I would phone your surgery and find out, as you should have your booking appointment around about now.

I had mine today, and to my great surprise, they were really positive about me wanting a homebirth! I was prepared for a fight!

I'm in about the same position as Champs, i started my part-time job in November and I'm now 6 weeks pregnant. I think if I leave it for a few more weeks then my employer won't get too upset, the problem is my mum is the assistant manager. Can anyone tell me if its o.k to keep a pregnancy quiet from your mother say until about 12 weeks? When do you think you are due Champs, I know its a bit early to start talking like this but I think I'm due Sept 3rd.

Meliwhite, get on to it yourself. I didn't hear anything either and found everyone was waiting for me to make arrangements! It made me very cross. How did I know what to do - I'd never had a baby before.

Re keeping it secret, IME it is totally normal not to tell anyone - including parents and PIL until 12 weeks. I didn't.

ellasmum · 03/01/2003 16:40

Hi and Happy New Year..

Had my nuchal scan yesterday and all was well - got my booking in appointment on Monday.

Meliwhite - I would keep ringing the hospital and the doctor to see why you havn't been given a date for an appointment yet. It may be that the letter is in the post.

MELIWHITE · 04/01/2003 10:07

Thanks for everyones advice. Rang the doctors, who gave me the Midwives number. She told me I should have been booked in weeks ago and to get back to my GP and harass them as they should have booked it for me. So, will have to wait till Monday to do that. Is concerning that you can be overlooked at a really important time. I hope it isn't the beginning of things to come. Anyway, will hopefully sort it out now.

Thanks

champs · 04/01/2003 16:57

Bekki, I think I'm due around 9th of August, done one of those "due date calculator thingies" at a baby site, the only thing is that I am not too sure when my actual first day of my last MP was!! I know around which time... but not for deffinet(scuse spellin!!) I just recieved an appointment for my dating scan (17th Jan) so will know more then. About keeping secrtet, I think if you want to tell when you're ready then thats fine. A magazine article I read advises that you wait till the scan to tell boss/ work ( unless there's great risks)I keep making excuses not to pick up heavy stuff!! MELIWHITE, I think that's very bad of your doctors!! your dating scan is prob. overdue!! pls make sure you talk to your doctor as midwife suggested!! Where do you live? I live in N.London and at the doctors appt I told them which hosp. I wanted to have baby at and now the Hosp. got in contact with me. I wouldn't have thought that you have to make your own appt. dates unless the one they gave was inappropriate. Or if you wanted a special midwife? anyway, I better stop rabbiting on Speak to y'all soon.

Bears · 04/01/2003 22:51

I'm just about 11 weeks now. Sympathies to all of you feeling really sick - must be awful, esp. if you're running round after other kids. I felt sick every now & again for a few weeks (only threw up once) but I've been ok lately - apart from the usual tiredness. 18 mth old ds takes care of that - he's teething big time atm.

I'm a lot more emotional this time, compared to 1st pregnancy. Can't tell you how many times I've been/nearly been in tears!

KMS · 05/01/2003 14:16

Happy new year to you all. Congrats to the newcomers hope all is well.
Have also had sinus, cold tummy bug thing so haven't been on for a while.
Have finnally had dating scan and am now 12wks so due 21st July. have Nuchal scan on Friday. baby would not stop jumping around on last scan so it took ages for them to get a good enough still to measure! i hope it is a little less lively for friday. (and the later stages, I want to sleep)
Finally stopped being sick around 10 1/2wks only to start heartburn with avengance! not sure which is worse!

MELIWHITE · 07/01/2003 09:47

Hello everyone

Hassled the doctor yesterday, only to come home and find a letter from the NHS on my doormat. Scan is on 24th Jan, which means I'll be in my 13th week. I was told that I would hear earlier in an ideal world, but we don't live in one. I live in Balham, South London. So if anyone else lives there, lesson is to be patient. Now I just want the time to fly, so that I know everthing is alright. Am sure it must be a relief when it is over and you know things are alright.

On a personal note, does anyone else suffer from really itchy nipples, and does anyone have any suggestions how to ease it??!!!

HAve a good day everyone

ellasmum · 09/01/2003 22:28

Bears - know what you mean about being emotional. Wasn't a problem first time round but this time.... I was nearly in tears watching DIY SOS, when they revealed what they had done to the owner of the house. Don't even get me started on any programmes about birth / babies / or health in general.
