Here is promised thread jessi! Congratulations too Ellasmum and jessi - Ellasmum, my due date will be about 20th July I think. Haven't seen any midwife or doctor yet - trying to remember what I did when last time!

We've tried raspberry leaf tablets, curry tonight, sex last night (but not very easy I have to say at 40 weeks - you just feel SO attractive!). I detest pineapple, and have been trying to keep active. So I think this babe will just come when it's ready. If you've had 3 shows it sounds like you're not far off. The only sign I've had is that baby has gone VERY quiet today - still moving, but nowhere near as much. It was really wriggly, but is much more serene today!

mine is a little quieter today. i was told i was 2cm yesterday when I had sweep, so show was no surprise, but I was 2cm for 2 weeks with DS1 and ended up being induced so I am trying not to get my hopes up! fingers crossed for you as well tonight.

LucieB · 23/07/2003 09:18

KMS - try a gin and tonic - it worked for me!!!

motherinferior · 23/07/2003 10:15

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!1

musica · 23/07/2003 10:52

Well, still here KMS - how about you? Curry did nothing!

Still here phoned midwife this am to see if she had any suggestions. She said forget spicy food the only thing that workes is nookie! and not just a one off. As you said musica it's just what you feel in the mood for! Going to try reflexology later as a friend is a reflexologist and is willing to touch my feet! fingers crossed. will follow with a large G & T I think!
Good luck musica.

Any news Kms? Still none from us. Oh well, I knew it was going to go over. Starting to get a bit fed up of waking up every hour, struggling out of bed to go to the loo, then wandering round the bedroom, trying to work out how to get comfy in bed! Hope you're snugly tucked up with a lovely little one by now!

OP posts:
KMS · 25/07/2003 21:28

No musica I'm still here! also fedup with going to loo every 5 mins and getting to sleep is hard although DH has been on nights this week so having bed to myself has been easier. Reflexology hasn't worked either. Baby is so quiet though. only "pressed" at my side a couple of times instead of kicking. Is yours still quiet?

musica · 25/07/2003 21:30

It's had active times today - long periods of quiet, then a flurry of kicks, then some more quiet. I think it has been livelier today though - which is good as far as reassuring me it's still alive, but I don't think it feels like it's coming out soon! Just got to think lots of 'come out now' thoughts!

Sorry you're still pregnant - I was hoping that you would have had it, because you hadn't posted for a couple of days. Here's hoping for this evening for both of us!

OP posts:
KMS · 25/07/2003 21:56

thought you had certainly had it! Here's hoping for tonight too!!

happyspider · 25/07/2003 22:24

wow, how exciting, you could be both be mums by the week end...
please keep us posted!
thinking of you

musica · 26/07/2003 12:36

Still no news from me! Poor ds is almost overcome with excitement - but is also totally bored at being stuck indoors because of the rain. He just wants to climb on me the whole time - he's just 2 - and this of course is not the most comfortable thing for me!

Hope you're having a good weekend!

OP posts:
KMS · 26/07/2003 22:04

still nothing here either. both my DS's also can't wait for the baby to come. Have a good weekend all. Musica- bet you have yours before i have mine!

musica · 27/07/2003 19:03

Any news KMS? Still me and my bump! I'm going to get bored of typing 'no news' I think. Mw appointment tomorrow - think they're going to do a sweep if nothing's doing. How are you doing?

OP posts:
pupuce · 27/07/2003 19:12

Maybe you guys should have gone under the August babies

Serioulsy - I know it's a long wait but well worth while... please stay off the sweep and other induction methods - baby will come he is good and ready

KMS · 27/07/2003 22:06

still here with bump! managed to get another sweep today! have bought some castor oil but not sure if I will use it yet. May try wednesday if nothing happened as I don't want to be induced.

musica · 27/07/2003 22:35

KMS - you can hold out not to be induced - they will monitor you every day, just to check baby is doing ok, but they can't force you to be induced. I thought that they were pretty definite about inducing at 12 days, but my mw said that as long as baby is doing ok, it is fine to wait.
I've been having lots of pains today - don't know if they're the beginning of anything or not, but here's hoping. No doubt tomorrow I'll be writing 'no news'.....

OP posts:
pupuce · 27/07/2003 22:57

How many weeks are you both ?
In our local hospital which is not that great they allowed me to go to 43 weeks... of course DS came at 42 so I didn't get to test that

Castor oil is induction and can be blxxdy painful! If baby isn't ready, baby isn't ready!!!

musica · 27/07/2003 23:08

I'm 41 weeks tomorrow. But I was 12 days late with ds, so I was kind of resigned to this one being really late too.

OP posts:
pupuce · 27/07/2003 23:12

I think you are right to think this way - you obviously have a "longer" gestational age... there are women who go 44 weeks !

BTW - a sweep is an induction in my book ! And if it leads to labour it can quick start it quite badly (i.e. very painfully from very early on!)

musica · 28/07/2003 12:54

Still no baby - off to midwife in about an hour. Everybody think COME ON BABY thoughts!!! How are you doing today KMS? Pupuce, I think you're right, I think some people just cook them more slowly, and I'm one of them!

OP posts:
KMS · 28/07/2003 22:24

I'm a slow cooker too! I'm now 41+1. DS1 Was 42 and DS2 40+3. They will only let you go 14 days at my hosp so I may be able to hang on till next monday, but I also want this baby out now. Tried castor oil today. Had a long date with the toilet all day and now have a sore bottom and still no baby. Going to try a very funny DVD (Billy Connoly Live)

pupuce · 28/07/2003 23:43

KMS - and then what happens does the hospital send a police car to get your induction under way - I know you want this baby out but do not loose track of the fact that this is YOUR body and YOUR baby!!!

musica · 29/07/2003 12:40

KMS - how are you doing? I just posted on another thread, but thought I'd just update you - been to see Dr - he said go back in a week, which would make me 42 +1, so I guess they're pretty relaxed about it. Hope you've got some progress!

OP posts:
KMS · 29/07/2003 19:25

waters broke at 11pm last night while laughing at Billy Connoly! Told to treked off to be monitored at the hospital. Sent home as baby all ok and no contractions. Have to go back Wed 8 am to be induced if nothing happens by then. Still nothing now! So seems this baby will be born in next 24hrs! Fingers crossed for you musica.
