Hi lovely's

Starting a new thread for those that have gone through ivf and are in the early stages as appreciate we have different anxieties maybe to other groups.

I'm Gayle, I had a fresh transfer on Monday the 13th March and I am currently 5 weeks 4 days pregnant. First test showed 1-2 weeks, last weeks test showed 2-3 and next test due on Wednesday (clinic have recommended a test a week until early scan) early scan is on the 14th April.

My husband and I have been trying for a baby for nearly 10 years. We fell pregnant naturally 6 years ago, however after some bleeding at 8 weeks, i went for an early scan and was only dating between 5 and 6 weeks so had to go back in a further 2 weeks to check if any development and the night before, I had a miscarriage. We haven't fallen since and following some tests, it was put down to make factor infertility and ICSI and was recommended however we could not proceed (privately) with my bmi so I started the hard work to lose 5 stone in May last year and hit my target in January 2023 to start our treatment.

I feel like there have been lots of barriers in our way so far. Nhs said no, due to my weight it was a no, due to the financials it was a no so to have anything with a yes now without having a massive battle, feels strange and like it's not quite true!

Symptoms so far - sore boobs, cramping, so hungry, feeling little bits of nausea but not sure if it is my mind or it is real

Feel free to tell me about your battle and how you are feeling

@CR7 a week today so don’t even know if this will cause complications with that if it is correct so just gonna wait until the doc calls me I’m trying to stay calm but it’s not easy when we have got this far
@Vallef thank you I will keep everyone posted when I know more x

CR7 · 08/08/2023 09:42

@BrownXeyes one moment at a time. Try to keep calm. So easy for me to say I know xx

BrownXeyes · 08/08/2023 13:24

Managed to finally get an appointment with the pregnancy assessment unit on Thursday so hopefully we will know more then! Thank you all for your messages this morning they really helped and I will update once I know what’s happening Thursday! X

CR7 · 08/08/2023 13:25

@BrownXeyes we are all here for you xx

BrownXeyes · 08/08/2023 14:01

@CR7 thank you I’ll keep you all updated on Thursday afternoon.

Stopthatnoisemummy · 08/08/2023 17:30

@BrownXeyes thinking of you. As others have said hopefully it's nothing, just a difference in the private scan.

BrownXeyes · 08/08/2023 18:14

@Stopthatnoisemummy Thank you - I think because there was no context given behind it like ‘it can be common’ whatever it’s made it a worse situation but we will see what they say on Thursday.
how are you feeling now?x

Stopthatnoisemummy · 09/08/2023 09:27

@BrownXeyes it's the not knowing that's so hard, our minds go to the worst case scenario.

I'm still feeling a bit rubbish really, but just keep putting one foot forward after the other and ploughing on!

BrownXeyes · 09/08/2023 09:34

@Stopthatnoisemummy thats Definately the worst bit!

aww bless you it’s even harder I imagine when you have a little one to look after at the same time! X

Vallef · 09/08/2023 15:53

@BrownXeyes I believe everything is OK because you had your anomaly check and surely they would see if there was a problem. This day is nearly passed so youl ho and have your scan tomorrow morning I hope? Xx

@Stopthatnoisemummy how r u doing? Xx

BrownXeyes · 09/08/2023 16:18

@Vallef i have my appointment at 2.30 tomorrow but will be kept busy with work tomorrow hopefully so it comes round quick.

I know and this is the confusing thing about it as they do your 20week scan because the body parts are developed by then so how has it changed? I think the worst thing is this place just left us in the dark no context around it just shoving paperwork at us and sent us on our way.

i will be livid if they are wrong and they have caused all this stress for nothing - I get maybe being unsure and getting a second opinion but they are medical professionals! Just see what they say tomorrow! Fingers crossed everything is ok x

Stopthatnoisemummy · 09/08/2023 21:47

@Vallef @BrownXeyes am ok, thanks for cehckikg in. I'm already in bed propped up by pillows 😅 was my day 'off' work with DD today. We usually get out and about but had a quiet one at home. Managed to entertain her with some puzzles, books, pretend food play and some TV, and even managed a nap when she did. My fave game was when I lay in the 'bath' on the sofa and she pretended to wash me for 10 mins 🤣 was supposed to get some work done whilst she napped but not the end of the world.

Having a scan of my heart tomorrow, just to rule out anything cardiac contributing to my breathing issues.

@BrownXeyes hope all ok for you tomorrow

BrownXeyes · 09/08/2023 21:52

@Stopthatnoisemummy im thinking about bed already too!

sounds like the perfect somewhat chilled day with your little one!

hope the scan goes ok on your heart tomorrow I will be thinking of you too xx

CR7 · 09/08/2023 22:10

@Stopthatnoisemummy I've recently been through the same. Not exactly the same but I have been to a cardiologist and had a load of tests done. I have arrhythmias constantly. The dr's were very kind and the tests were really painless. Keep us posted on how you get on xx

CR7 · 10/08/2023 09:58

@BrownXeyes we will all be thinking of you today xx

gulph · 10/08/2023 10:15

all know x

Vallef · 10/08/2023 15:30

@BrownXeyes were on tenterhooks hun hope ur scan is going well xxx

Stopthatnoisemummy · 10/08/2023 17:23

@BrownXeyes hope all ok with you.

Nothing obviously wrong at my heart scan which is good news, although I still am having breathing troubles. Heart rate a bit high but they weren't too concerned.

gulph · 10/08/2023 17:26

@Stopthatnoisemummy glad they checked you out and haven't found anything untoward! Did they recommend anything for the breathing?

OP posts:
Stopthatnoisemummy · 10/08/2023 19:31

@gulph I need to go back to the obstetrician now I've had the scan and see what they say. Suspect it'll just be a get on with it now all serious things have been ruled out.

gulph · 10/08/2023 19:37

Awww bless you! Has it only come on since you've been pregnant? Could it be your lungs getting squished by baby?

OP posts:
Stopthatnoisemummy · 10/08/2023 20:00

@gulph I was originally diagnosed with pleurisy but that should have resolved by now. I have a history of blood clots (including on the lung) so they are being v cautious thankfully. But I suspect as the bad things have been ruled out it will just be put down to pregnancy which is a little frustrating as no solution and Dec is feeling v far away!

BrownXeyes · 10/08/2023 21:37

Hi everyone!

@Stopthatnoisemummy im glad nothing came up on your heart scan! Hopefully they get to the bottom of the breathing problems though- could it be an long effect of the plurisy I wonder?

well the NHS doctor today was lovely with us baby does have an irregular heartbeat seems to be a pause/skip a beat every 14 beats or so - however she spent 45 minutes checking the heart structure and flow around the heart etc and she seems happy with everything she said it could be an immature heart meaning there’s still time for it to grow bigger which may iron that irregular beat
out. She answered all my questions and has booked me to go back in 4 weeks to check so now including that one I will be scanned every four weeks until birth now - some other good news though my low lying placenta has lifted so as long as nothing else comes up I should be good for a natural birth! Xx

Stopthatnoisemummy · 10/08/2023 21:44

@BrownXeyes so glad you were thoroughly checked out today, and they will be keeping a close eye on you going forward. Really rooting for your bubba to sort the issue themselves as they grow.

Great news about your placenta too, still a while until mine gets checked but also having extra scans regularly until birth so will be lovely to keep seeing our little boy!

It could be the pleurisy, but they seemed alarmed it has gone on so long and not resolved with me clearing the virus, so who knows. Need to find time to ring and make another appt, as well as physio referral and chase up a breastfeeding support lady who we keep swaping voicemails. Really struggling to juggle everything with work which is super busy at the moment. If only I could clone myself 😄
