Hi lovely's

Starting a new thread for those that have gone through ivf and are in the early stages as appreciate we have different anxieties maybe to other groups.

I'm Gayle, I had a fresh transfer on Monday the 13th March and I am currently 5 weeks 4 days pregnant. First test showed 1-2 weeks, last weeks test showed 2-3 and next test due on Wednesday (clinic have recommended a test a week until early scan) early scan is on the 14th April.

My husband and I have been trying for a baby for nearly 10 years. We fell pregnant naturally 6 years ago, however after some bleeding at 8 weeks, i went for an early scan and was only dating between 5 and 6 weeks so had to go back in a further 2 weeks to check if any development and the night before, I had a miscarriage. We haven't fallen since and following some tests, it was put down to make factor infertility and ICSI and was recommended however we could not proceed (privately) with my bmi so I started the hard work to lose 5 stone in May last year and hit my target in January 2023 to start our treatment.

I feel like there have been lots of barriers in our way so far. Nhs said no, due to my weight it was a no, due to the financials it was a no so to have anything with a yes now without having a massive battle, feels strange and like it's not quite true!

Symptoms so far - sore boobs, cramping, so hungry, feeling little bits of nausea but not sure if it is my mind or it is real

Feel free to tell me about your battle and how you are feeling

@Banbi @greentreeseverywhere

@CR7 what a lovely picture clear as day!! 2 placentas? What does that mean for you?

Vallef · 24/08/2023 12:52

@CR7 what a lovely pic!! Was this your anomaly test? Wow what does 2 placenta mean?? Xxx

gulph · 24/08/2023 12:53

Awwwww congratulations @CR7! So exciting! 2 placentas? Does that mean baby is getting super nutrients?

@Vallef yes 26 weeks now 😆 I can't stop buying, went for breakfast this morning with a friend as had a random 'mental health' day that my company gives out randomly 3 times a year and came home with 3 bags full of 'stuff' and 3 photo frames for the baby's room 🤦🏼‍♀️ maternity pay is going to come as a shock 😂

@gulph @Vallef

I've attached what I found on google after the notes were uploaded onto the app. She said it's not a good or a bad thing, it's just a thing. Will mean two afterbirths but the main thing is the placement of the second one and she's happy it's in the best place for a second one to be in. She said I also won't feel kicks until nearer to 23 weeks.

Weight wise, baby is measuring way ahead at 380g. She said average for my dates would be 310-320 ish. Didn't seem concerned.

I have a consultant appointment next and then a standard midwife appointment.

@gulph mental health days. What a bloody marvellous idea. Do let us know what you've bought x

@BrownXeyes sorry forgot to tag you x

CR7 · 24/08/2023 13:07

@gulph when this thread runs out we should rename it third trimester, as we are all well on the way now x

gulph · 24/08/2023 13:11

How crazy is that to think of, feels like only yesterday we were all praying to get through every single day and now we are talking third trimester 😱

Happy to do a new thread or those that want to, I'm happy to do a WhatsApp group or something so we can keep in touch.

Yes just sitting doing my nails and will then have a sort out and take pics! Xxxxx

@CR7 least they gave you a good understanding of what it is and doesn’t sound like a concern! I’ve never heard of that before though. I’m 26 weeks and only just felt kicks/movement properly the last few days but i think it’s because of my
anterior placenta!

@gulph come on give us your haul!!!! Love hearing what people are buying! X

gulph · 24/08/2023 13:16

@BrownXeyes so glad you are feeling baby! Know you have been waiting so long for it 🥰

Vallef · 24/08/2023 13:16

@CR7 diff super nutrients for that baba at 380g! :) mine were measuring at 350g on Friday and 320g for the second which is really gd for 2. Its all gd as long as their healthy that's all that matters for us all! I don't think I have felt kicks yet although sometimes I feel something sharp and I do wonder if its a kick mostly I feel the bubbles or if I don't and I rub my tummy it starts up sometimes. So exciting it's the only thing keeping me going for now my whole family is in Italy for the wedding on Sunday and hubby is leaving tomorrow! Just hope it hurries and passes so I can relax whilst it's ongoing am sort of upset to be missing everything and keep seeing my brothers face yesterday when I told him. Happy am pregnant but diff upset I won't be there he moved away from the care and it killed me :( arg anyway I digress!

@gulph I can't believe it's 26 w for u already slow at the beginning and then it speeds up!!

BrownXeyes · 24/08/2023 13:24

@gulph thank you maybe it just took some relaxing time to make it happen rather than all the anxiety! Im not feeling a lot each day but getting something each day so keeps me calm haha. Husband is fuming because everytime it happens he’s either in the pool with step-son or somewhere haha!

So what did you buy?x

AlisonDanuta · 24/08/2023 13:29

Oh wow @CR7 that is definitely extra nutrients for your baby 🥰 good to hear is growing so well.
They've never told me the weight on my 22 w scan.

I'm 24 + 4 and having scans ever 6 weeks so will ask on my next one.
Excited to see my baby again on the screen to have a sneaky peak on what she is up to!

@Vallef chin up as I know it is hard to miss out on things - especially on your brothers wedding.. but those 2 little heartbeats are the most important ❤️

Ohh @gulph what else did you get?

I feel very lucky as my placenta moved and from week 18 i could feel my baby very well

We actually went to hospital few days ago at night as i didn't feel any movement all day. We couldn't sleep as worried so went in to check and all well phew 💕

gulph · 24/08/2023 13:33

Oh I know! My husband still hasn't felt any kicks as I'm getting a lot of movement but as soon as I tell him to feel, the baby stops 🤦🏼‍♀️

Haha I'm still doing my nails but I got:
Little hangers
A hooded elephant blanket
Some little leggings in just white
3 pots of sudocream
Milton everything - spray/tablets etc
Picture frames for the baby's room, will find some wall art to pop in them
Baby washcloths
A baby manicure set
Calpol
Scalp oil

@AlisonDanuta so glad you checked. The worry is real!

@Vallef when I spoke to the midwife today I described what I though might have been baby movements and she said "trust me. When it happens you will know. It's not like anything else". So maybe it's just not happened for us yet. Sad you're missing the wedding but understandable that you don't want to fly. I'm sure he understood xx

@gulph I love your organisation. You're very inspirational! We are going to a big baby shop on Tuesday so will defo have a good hunt around. Thank you for sharing

CR7 · 24/08/2023 14:17

@BrownXeyes yes I also have an anterior placenta so it will be similar for me I'm sure x

BrownXeyes · 24/08/2023 14:28

@gulph love that haul!!! X

Vallef · 24/08/2023 16:34

So on gd news today been on the phone back and forth my GP is useless but the Cambridge hospital took pity on me and finally said they would complete all the paperwork needed for me to get referred to them so now have access to my chart and should start having appointments come through in the next week or so for when am back. Sounds like their taking everything very seriously and want to complete tests I may have already done and also a glucose test as aparently ivf pregnancies have a higher chance of gestational diabetes which I didn't know. Also very caring re mental health during pregnancy which is so nice to see!

@gulph I love it il be asking you for a list of everything at some point so I can do my shopping when I come back as ive lost track of all recommendations lol !!!. I think a WhatsApp if anyone else is interested would be great because sometimes keeping up via these chats is difficult and think watsap may be easier! Also how cool would it be if anyone wanted to meet one day I would be up for it :)

@CR7 so my midwife said the bubbles are the babies. She said when it's just gas the bubbles will stop in 30 sec but if your feeling them consistently then it's the babies :) one of them is posterior and one is anterior so god knows how the kicks will be felt!!

@AlisonDanuta so so glad you got that checked out otherwise it would be too stressful until a scan!! Glad all is well with your baba :)

@BrownXeyes sounds like ur having a lovely relaxing time am so so happy for you it was a much needed break! And your feeling the baby yay!! Good news all around:)

@Stopthatnoisemummy don't think I've seen you post unless I have missed it hun. Hope your OK?

CR7 · 24/08/2023 16:54

@Vallef great news about the hospital xx every time I go to an appointment here I do a urine sample and they check for glucose levels so it's very simple to test.

I bet you're ready for home now!

CR7 · 24/08/2023 16:56

@Vallef I've had the bubbles too! Maybe she was wrong when I described them x

gulph · 24/08/2023 17:04

The glucose test is the one you drink a sugar drink and then have to wait for 2 hours. They do a blood test before the drink and then after 2 hours. I had one at about 14 weeks and another one last week as ivf pregnancies are higher risk. The urine tests for protein in your pee which is a sign of pre eclampsia.

H&M have 20% off baby stuff for members today if anyone had any bits on their lists. I've resisted so far 😂 have bought a wrap carrier and sleeping bag thing off Vinted since I got home though 🤦🏼‍♀️

OP posts:
CR7 · 24/08/2023 17:56

@gulph haha what do I know 😂😂😂😂😂😂

Will look at h and m. I've done really well from vinted though so I don't really need anymore xx

Stopthatnoisemummy · 24/08/2023 21:26

@Vallef thanks for checking in, have been reading everyone's updates but just not had the energy to post alongside work, DD, and the million and one things we are trying to get sorted house wise.

Bumper set of replies from me below...

My pelvic pain has really ramped up, so much so that I had to phone in sick to work on Monday. I have an in person physio appt tomorrow though so hoping they can sort me out with some support bands which might help in the short term, but concious that there isn't any magic wand to make it disappear.

I'm struggling a little with the uncertainty around my placenta and delivery implications. Nothing anyone can do except wait and check again, but it is playing on my mind a lot. I do have a fair few appointments coming up though in addition to my physio appt which will no doubt help time tick along trying to fit work around them; anaethetist the 1st sept, glucose test the 4th, scan on the 11th, fetal medicine the 12th and 28 week midwife appt on the 13th!

Getting slightly jealous of all these shopping sprees haha. We can't really justify getting much more new stuff as we have all the big things from DD and lots of clothes we had (particuarly the first sizes) we unisex as we didnt know what we were having when we had DD, and being passed lots of boys stuff too. Making progress with the room we are moving DD into though, and have removed a built in wardrobe, had carpet quotes, got some painter decorators coming to quote over the weekend, started moving out the furniture etc. Picking carpets just doesn't have quite the same appeal as baby clothes haha.

@gulph loving the nursery and your room looks super organised. glad all ok from the perspective of your MH team too.

@Vallef We have a standalone baby bath that we used on a table or the cot top changer with DD and planning on doing again as we dont really have the space for one of those fancy looking ones! Must be a weight off your mind having the hopsital referral sorted too. Remember to read the instructions for your glucose tolerance test and fast beforehand, I have a friend who didn't and then had to do it twice, not something I would want to repeat in a hurry as a) the drink is vile and b) the waiting around is boring and uncomfortable in my experience! Hope you manage to do something nice to distract yourself this weekend. Can you video call in to the wedding ceremony at all?

@CR7 glad all went well at your scan, and never heard of having two placentas before either, but really pleased neither are in a problematic place. I'd have to say I'd disagree with your midwife, I've found the first movements much less obvious and a question over movement or gas! The further on you get the more obvious they are, but sounds like you are experiencing those first flutters :) Let us know how the shopping goes next week!

@BrownXeyes so lovely you are feeling movements too :D hope you are still enjoying the holiday.

@AlisonDanuta so pleased for you that your placenta has moved. sorry to hear you had an episode of no movements, but you absolutely did the right thing getting it checked out and such a relief all was ok.

@Vallef I'd be on board with a whatsapp group too.

Sorry to anyone I've missed out. Hope everyone has lovely bank holiday weekend plans? We are off to visit my parents and my best friend who still lives close to where we grew up, which I can't wait for.

BrownXeyes · 24/08/2023 21:42

@Stopthatnoisemummy good to hear from you! I would be up for a WhatsApp group too easier than checking this page I reckon!

i am the same as you but slightly different after having to pay for IVF I cant
justify spending loads but so many people are giving us stuff that is brand new - especially my
sisters friends who I have grown up with! And unfortunately we wouldn’t be able to afford to do IVF again so again can’t justify loads on things like prams etc cos it will get used just this once and we have no one to pass stuff too!

glad the room is coming along once you
get it painted and the carpet in it will be sorted in no time I’m sure!!
Xx

gulph · 24/08/2023 21:49

Ok anyone know how to set up a WhatsApp group? Think I need 1 persons details to create a new group and then it will create a link to be able to send to anyone that wants to join 🤷🏼‍♀️
