Ivf pregnancy - first trimester

Starting a new thread for those that have gone through ivf and are in the early stages as appreciate we have different anxieties maybe to other groups.

I'm Gayle, I had a fresh transfer on Monday the 13th March and I am currently 5 weeks 4 days pregnant. First test showed 1-2 weeks, last weeks test showed 2-3 and next test due on Wednesday (clinic have recommended a test a week until early scan) early scan is on the 14th April.

My husband and I have been trying for a baby for nearly 10 years. We fell pregnant naturally 6 years ago, however after some bleeding at 8 weeks, i went for an early scan and was only dating between 5 and 6 weeks so had to go back in a further 2 weeks to check if any development and the night before, I had a miscarriage. We haven't fallen since and following some tests, it was put down to make factor infertility and ICSI and was recommended however we could not proceed (privately) with my bmi so I started the hard work to lose 5 stone in May last year and hit my target in January 2023 to start our treatment.

I feel like there have been lots of barriers in our way so far. Nhs said no, due to my weight it was a no, due to the financials it was a no so to have anything with a yes now without having a massive battle, feels strange and like it's not quite true!

Symptoms so far - sore boobs, cramping, so hungry, feeling little bits of nausea but not sure if it is my mind or it is real

I've found H&M the best for maternity clothes as they actually have them in stores and often have a sale rail and Asda George maternity leggings do the job ok. I don't want to spend loads of maternity clothes for just slobbing round the house 😂 when I go to the office (I only have to go in once a week or so) I wear stretchy midi dresses that I had before pregnancy with sandals xxx

I had someone tell me how huge I am yesterday and asked me if I was sure there was only 1 in there.....I've waited 10 years for this bump and I tell you what, I love it 🥰 but why do people feel the need to comment?! Unless someone is saying I look really well for 6 months pregnant/I'm glowing/looking radiant, I don't want to hear it 😂😂

Omg people. So bloody rude!!!!! Because I'm at the stage where I don't officially look pregnant, no one is saying anything in case they get it wrong!!

I ordered from H and M a couple of days ago. The two near me don't have the mama range in store so I've ordered online. Again. And I'm hoping there are some winners.

It is strange, this new body of mine. It's taking me a bit of time to get used to haha. 42 years and now it's all changing, but it is for the good!

@CR7 aww look at your little bump it’s so neat! I’ve found Asda maternity has been kind to me for my up coming holiday so maybe try on there? I’ve ordered stuff off next as well which has been ok! X

Thank you for the advice @CR7 @Vallef @BrownXeyes will ring the clinic but it seems like there’s no need to “wean” off them which is good. Can’t wait to be 12 weeks next week and hoping everything goes well at the scan ❤️

@gulph @CR7 gorgeous bumps! I am huge, my boss enjoys telling me I look 32 weeks and not 22! The cleaner at work wouldn't believe I wasn't due till December either. Still having breathing troubles here, off for a heart scan this week to rule out anything cardiac. Birth choices appt next week and then another scan for me the week after, then my GTT after that I think, so things feeling like they are ramping up a bit. DH and I managed a rare dinner out by ourselves last night and we've realised quite how much we have to do in order to move DD into a bigger room to free up the nursery. Need some energy from somewhere!

@CR7 awww that's made me so emotional seeing ur bump!! I keep thinking when we started our meds and the treatment and how far we have come so so happy for you!! My belly has gone so huge as well I can no longer hide it I think so will have to announce it to family but just had it stuck in my head not before 5 months! I had a scare on Friday I had thick gelly like mucus and worried it was my mucus plug so midwife sent me to the hospital. Luckily all is well and I got an amazing scan pic and just makes everything so real!!

@gulph you look absolutely amazing snd bloody glowy and people should keep their nasty comments to them selves. People don't know we started out being bumped up with all these hormones as well so our bumps might be bigger than maybe natural conception bumps as well. So babies got weighted at 18m and one is 200g and the other 213g which is perfect for 2 of them usually they weigh less than normal. Can only think the progesterone is feeding them well! But again people don't know all this so they should just shush

@gulph I know and the funny thing is I felt absolutely nothing at the time! We got another one of him yawning as well which was funny :) finally got told its one boy and one girl which is what I wanted. I won't say hope they didnt make a mistake as long as their healthy it don't matter.

If I wore baggy clothes I reckon I could get away with it for longer but it's also lovely to have people talk to you about it and you'll love that when you tell everyone.

I need a plan for when people try to touch my bump. I am not a touchy feely person so I feel I may just have to matrix back bend myself away if anyone tries xx

@gulph HM haul was great! Two perfect, two too big but really lovely so swapping for a medium and one not right. 4/5 excellent 🥰

@cr7 I didn't have much of an issue with bump touching 1st time round as it was covid, but tips I have heard from friends are to touch the other person's tummy back, simply say please don't whilst stepping back / removing their hand or the mn classic "did you mean to be so rude"

Not that brave for the last one. Will probably just do a lot or reversing 🤣

So I had a private scan today to check everything was ok before our holiday- they have referred me
to my hospital because they found an irregular heartbeat…I had an NHS scan 20 week scan 3 weeks ago and a 21 week scan 2 weeks ago and everything was fine and normal - and now suddenly this! They didn’t tell me how serious it was, what will happen from here just whispered at their reception desk and called my
hospital and told me a doctor would call me
tomorrow -I am beside myself I have never left anywhere so fast and now I’m just at home in tears not knowing what to expect tomorrow at all, can’t sleep feel sick to my stomach! Just
left in limbo! X

@BrownXeyes it is possible that they're not as good as the nhs and it's an error. Please keep us posted. We are all here for you xxx

@gulph thank you. The sitting waiting is worse! I think because they haven’t gone into detail I don’t know what to think! It was the worst most in compassionate experience I have ever had! X

@BrownXeyes please let us know how you get on were all thinking of you. Sometimes the people at private scans can get things wrong as well so just wait till the doctor calls you and hopefuly youl be going today for another scan xxx
