Hi lovely's

Starting a new thread for those that have gone through ivf and are in the early stages as appreciate we have different anxieties maybe to other groups.

I'm Gayle, I had a fresh transfer on Monday the 13th March and I am currently 5 weeks 4 days pregnant. First test showed 1-2 weeks, last weeks test showed 2-3 and next test due on Wednesday (clinic have recommended a test a week until early scan) early scan is on the 14th April.

My husband and I have been trying for a baby for nearly 10 years. We fell pregnant naturally 6 years ago, however after some bleeding at 8 weeks, i went for an early scan and was only dating between 5 and 6 weeks so had to go back in a further 2 weeks to check if any development and the night before, I had a miscarriage. We haven't fallen since and following some tests, it was put down to make factor infertility and ICSI and was recommended however we could not proceed (privately) with my bmi so I started the hard work to lose 5 stone in May last year and hit my target in January 2023 to start our treatment.

I feel like there have been lots of barriers in our way so far. Nhs said no, due to my weight it was a no, due to the financials it was a no so to have anything with a yes now without having a massive battle, feels strange and like it's not quite true!

Symptoms so far - sore boobs, cramping, so hungry, feeling little bits of nausea but not sure if it is my mind or it is real

Feel free to tell me about your battle and how you are feeling

@BrownXeyes good to hear from you! Been thinking about you since 2:30! Good news that they think it will just resolve itself as baby grows and nice to have the extra scans to ensure everything is going ok.
How are you feeling now? Xxxxx

@Stopthatnoisemummy fingers crossed! She seemed active enough today - husband was sat giggling away at her wriggling around. Yer she was Definately one of the best I’ve seen so far really thorough!

aww my lovely sometimes there just not enough time in the day for it all is there! Maybe try and tackle one thing at a time one day at a time xx

BrownXeyes · 10/08/2023 22:07

@gulph Definately happier in myself still anxious in case it doesn’t sort it’s self but happier that they are more than happy with the structure etc. just got everything crossed that in 4 weeks everything is fine! Thank you for the support it means a lot from you all x

CR7 · 10/08/2023 22:22

Thank goodness @BrownXeyes xx so glad you're both ok. I know they found something but glad they aren't worried xx

@Stopthatnoisemummy my heart condition has come on purely because of pregnancy. It's mad how our bodies can change xx

BrownXeyes · 10/08/2023 22:25

@CR7 thank you it’s a relief! But reckon I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed until the end now!

It is crazy how our bodies change and things come on isn’t it! Hopefully you and @Stopthatnoisemummy get through it all and it’s only temporary x

CR7 · 10/08/2023 22:51

@BrownXeyes they gave me a mega low dose of propranolol. I finally got up the nerve to take it and it made no difference 🤣🤣

CR7 · 10/08/2023 22:51

@BrownXeyes I hope you're still having your holiday? X

BrownXeyes · 10/08/2023 22:54

@CR7 hate that - when you try to work yourself up to it and finally get the nerve thinking something will make a massive difference and it’s a let down because it does nothing! Worst!

Yes doc gave me the ok to fly and was very level headed about it and said it’s not going to make a difference - think after this week it’s what I need! X

Couldn't agree more xx I'm so sorry you've had the worst couple of days but also really glad the private place spotted the issue.

My heart problem is the same as your tiny baby. And they are absolutely not concerned about me.

I know it's not the same. Totally not the same. But they really weren't concerned xx

Vallef · 10/08/2023 23:17

@BrownXeyes so gd to hear your update. Glad it's been picked up at least and you can relax and just let the lil one keep growing. I have heard so many stories with babies hearts and after the baby was born everything was fine as well so have faith and take that holiday u need it!! A week by the beach on a lovely sandy bay eating lovely fresh grilled fish and let the worries stay back on UK soil! Xxx

@Stopthatnoisemummy I wonder when you will get time for some you time missy sounds like your dealing with alot!! I really hope you get better it could be your drained and your body is slower with recovering? Xx

CR7 · 11/08/2023 11:03

How are we all today xx

Stopthatnoisemummy · 11/08/2023 20:51

@Vallef in about 20 years maybe?! 😆

My growth / placenta scan was due to be on the 25th but the appt has been changed to next Friday. Although the clinic I'm now going to says something completely different to the original appt so hoping I will still be having a scan etc.

Vallef · 11/08/2023 21:25

@Stopthatnoisemummy lol gosh 20 years!!! My mum keeps saying relax while you can now as this time next year you won't know what relax means 🙂 how many weeks will you be next week? Is it a different clinic that does this test than your usual one ?

CR7 · 11/08/2023 22:47

@Stopthatnoisemummy not sure they can measure growth without a scan. How lovely that it's been brought forward. I dread and also dream about having a scan! X

AlisonDanuta · 12/08/2023 08:45

Oh so glad @BrownXeyes is going ok and they will keep an eye on you!

Are you all having consultant in hosp due to ivf and age?? I'll have scans every 6 weeks apparently which is a great news! Will see my baby girl more often ;)

My placenta have moved from anterior to the back so I feel the kicks very well..
Such a weird feeling! She is usually the most active in the evenings when i settle on my big pillow in bed lol

Do you all experience those sharp pains due to the uterus growing?

Ohh and will start to look at prams next weekend..I'm 23 weeks now so maybe is time to choose something!

BrownXeyes · 12/08/2023 08:56

@AlisonDanuta thank you.

it’s crazy isn’t it 23 weeks already I’m just 24 and it doesn’t feel real.

after my scan in September I get a growth scan every 4 weeks and I’m sure she said due to it being IVF but can’t 100% be sure.

My placenta is anterior at the moment can it move? I didn’t know that I still haven’t felt her move or I don’t think I have anyways- but luckily on all the scans she’s very active!

I am the same I have looked at travel systems but haven’t bought anything big yet people have been so kind and given us a lot of big stuff but it’s all at my sisters house being kept - too anxious to have it in the house! X

CR7 · 12/08/2023 09:54

@AlisonDanuta can you describe the pains you are talking about? Wondering if that's what I had this morning x

Vallef · 12/08/2023 09:57

@AlisonDanuta I didn't know the placenta can move! That's great to know as one of the babies is anterior and one is posterior so was wondering how that's going to work!

I know it's early at 19w I don't think I have felt movement yet. Have felt bubbles but always think it's my tummy doing that. Yesterday however I had like a small lump under my skin on the side and it kinda disapeared after a while. Could that have been the little ones or is it too normal for them to be able to poke ?

gulph · 12/08/2023 10:01

@CR7 I had weird pains this morning as well! Woke up at 4 and had pain really low on my right side. Kept me awake for a few hours and couldn't get back to sleep. This morning it's easier but still feels a bit achy

OP posts:
CR7 · 12/08/2023 10:07

@Vallef I've not felt anything either. I also have an anterior placenta. I googled it...

A placenta in front of the baby acts kind of like a cushion or shield between the growing baby and the abdomen, so the baby's movements might feel softer or milder. A pregnant person may still feel strong movements along their sides or the lowest part of the abdomen, where the anterior placenta doesn't act as a buffer.

So you may well have felt something if it was at the side or down low x

I can only describe mine as a few stabbing pains in my (hate to say it) vagina.

gulph · 12/08/2023 10:10

Mine is anterior but baby is around belly button level so is a bit higher than my placenta now so I feel quite a bit of moment, we've been watching my tummy moving this morning 🥰

@gulph that is so amazing xx

Vallef · 12/08/2023 11:24

@CR7 yeh I think it was on the side so that's cool :) I kept poking at it saying what the heck is this tiny lump lol only till hubby said u know it might be the baby leave it alone I was like ooo it didn't even cross my mind!!!

I get shooting pains in my hooha as well usualy when am laying down or sitting I think it's still ligament pains I read u can feel it there as well. The annoying pains I get during my sleep are on my side hips/thighs and shoots in my buttock. I know it's from all the side sleeping my it bloody well hurts and wakes me up.

@gulph that's so amazing!!! :)

CR7 · 12/08/2023 12:16

@Vallef

Ooooh maybe the pains I had this morning are similar to yours???

Every pain I get makes me worry but I'm trying to be calm. It's been over three weeks since my last scan so I'm naturally a bit 😕 I have another one soon though so just need to push through.

I'm going to invest in the BBHugme pregnancy pillow. It's the most expensive on the market but my friends and the internet said it is worth every penny and it's invaluable when baby arrives. I've done a lot of research to justify the price!!

I'm going to wait until I get uncomfortable in bed and then buy it. Xx
