Hi lovely's

Starting a new thread for those that have gone through ivf and are in the early stages as appreciate we have different anxieties maybe to other groups.

I'm Gayle, I had a fresh transfer on Monday the 13th March and I am currently 5 weeks 4 days pregnant. First test showed 1-2 weeks, last weeks test showed 2-3 and next test due on Wednesday (clinic have recommended a test a week until early scan) early scan is on the 14th April.

My husband and I have been trying for a baby for nearly 10 years. We fell pregnant naturally 6 years ago, however after some bleeding at 8 weeks, i went for an early scan and was only dating between 5 and 6 weeks so had to go back in a further 2 weeks to check if any development and the night before, I had a miscarriage. We haven't fallen since and following some tests, it was put down to make factor infertility and ICSI and was recommended however we could not proceed (privately) with my bmi so I started the hard work to lose 5 stone in May last year and hit my target in January 2023 to start our treatment.

I feel like there have been lots of barriers in our way so far. Nhs said no, due to my weight it was a no, due to the financials it was a no so to have anything with a yes now without having a massive battle, feels strange and like it's not quite true!

Symptoms so far - sore boobs, cramping, so hungry, feeling little bits of nausea but not sure if it is my mind or it is real

Feel free to tell me about your battle and how you are feeling

@CR7 bizarre isn’t it! Just blows my mind haha! X

BrownXeyes · 02/08/2023 21:36

Ok so I just felt like a pulsing sensation when I had my hand on my bump - could that be baby movements? I’m still anxiously waiting and it’s the only feeling I’ve had x

Awwww @BrownXeyes that could well be your bubba 💗
@Ted43 welcome! Trust me when I say, every single one of us felt the same as you at 5/6 weeks. I had convinced myself it was all over and I'd had a missed m/c at around 6 weeks and was devastated! Kept doing pregnancy tests and still saying pregnant so gave it until our early scan at 7+2 and I have never cried so much in my life from the moment I stepped into the clinic as I thought my dream would be over. I'm now 23 weeks and have a wiggly baby kicking me in the bladder 😂
@CR7 I literally got some cheap bras from primark as I had no idea how long ill stay in each size. My nipples are still sooooo sore!

@gulph as of two weeks ago mine have been the same!!!!!! I had no idea what everyone else was talking about. Also when I wear a tee shirt now they are apparent. They never were before 😳

Vallef · 02/08/2023 22:46

@BrownXeyes awww finally so you can stop worrying!! I think I read you feel them abit and then gradually you'll learn to recognise it and feel it more :) this thing with the belly. Like seriously so glad you brought it up by evening my belly is so rock solid and looks like I have 4 babies in there!! I wonder why that is? I always put it down to gas and maybe the evening meal but it can't be otherwise it would bloat like that at lunch as well!

@CR7 your finally getting symptoms which is great :)

CR7 · 03/08/2023 13:39

Is anyone going to have a 4d scan? I think they're a bit scary looking 🫣🫣

Vallef · 03/08/2023 18:09

@CR7 why are they scary looking? If anything 4d scans are so life like to what a human baby actually looks like? I went with my sisters for all 3 of her babies youngest being 14 months and was an amazing experience. Have you Google pictures at all? It might settle your mind.

BrownXeyes · 03/08/2023 21:17

@CR7 I get what you mean they almost freak me abit but I think it’s because they are so life like!! People say it’s amazing when you experience it though x

CR7 · 03/08/2023 22:10

@BrownXeyes @Vallef I've seen a lots of my friends have them and both my sisters and I've seen the videos. Some do look a bit strange, like these xx I think maybe it's put me off 🫣

CR7 · 03/08/2023 22:11

@BrownXeyes @Vallef will you have one? X

BrownXeyes · 03/08/2023 22:14

@CR7 yer see I just don’t know what it is about the 4D but I just can’t get away with them. No I’m not having one I’m quite happy with the normal ones asking as everything is ok that’s all I’m bothered about lol. I’m having a private scan on Monday before we go on holiday in a few weeks just with the movement situation and I could of done a 4D for an extra £10er but something pit me
off! X

CR7 · 03/08/2023 22:28

@BrownXeyes yes I agree. I'm happy with the normall ones personally. Maybe I'll change my kind further down the line but I don't think I will.

How are you feeling? I love a private scan; I've had a few now! So much better than the crappy nhs ones xx

CR7 · 03/08/2023 22:29

@Vallef yes finally something! And sometimes I get heartburn. I have bought rennie tablets and they're really good. How are you feeling x

BrownXeyes · 03/08/2023 22:31

Yer I’ve had a few to think we will all end up with shares in our private clinics! Haha.

I just wanted one before I go to Greece in the middle of the month as obviously I won’t really have access to it all out there and I just want to be reassured everything is ok with me not knowing if I have felt movement.

I did say to my husband that the pictures on the NHS ones are crap compared to our private ones but the last NHS one we had came out better so maybe as they get bigger the NHS ones are better! No idea! X

Vallef · 03/08/2023 23:22

@CR7 I don't think I will for now anyway just everything is so set out with the treatment and it's been so stressful I think il wait to meet them in person! That is if i dont change my mind down the line as I wont be doing this again nore than likely! As long as their ok that's all I care about! Just literally still counting week by week.

Vallef · 03/08/2023 23:26

@BrownXeyes where bouts in Greece you coming to? :) a little tip make sure whatever you bring is cotton. Most of our clothes in the UK tend to be plastic and with the heat here and pregnant it's honestly unbeatable. I was literally sweating buckets whilst sitting by the aircon which is driving hubby crazy lol but it's all those hormones and the progesterone am still having to take so just have to be patient. I never thought I'd be saying I miss my house I miss the cold UK wearing my robe and snuggling on the couch with a blanket on me!!! Probably doesn't help that my midwife has said no swimming in the pool or sea due to infections etc so poor me gets to just sit in the heat and watch everyone else get in and cool down. I've taken to putting a swimming costume on and going to the showers on the beach to cool me down lol sad but what else can I do

BrownXeyes · 04/08/2023 08:11

@Vallef we are going to Crete. Hoping the heat is bearable there I’ve been keeping an eye on the temps etc so just see how I get on. X

Vallef · 04/08/2023 11:14

@BrownXeyes am sure you will be fine just chose ur wardrobe if you can or cotton and should have an amazing time :)

FrostedFlake · 04/08/2023 18:20

It’s so exciting to read all your updates and I hope the scans go well!

We have our 12 week check in with the midwife in a weeks time and as I will ask about when and how to come off progesterone.
Im currently on Lubion 50 mu once daily and wanted to ask if anyone was on Lubion before and how and when you have come off it? Thank you x

CR7 · 04/08/2023 18:23

@FrostedFlake I stopped everything, (including Lubion) with the exception of the steroids at 12 weeks. Those I had to wean off. Congratulations on this amazing milestone. Xx

Vallef · 04/08/2023 23:07

@FrostedFlake I stopped lubion at week 10 however am still on progesterone support by tablet form. I think in most cases for a single baby you stop more or less the medication at 12w unless the doctor advises otherwise for a specific reason. Congrats though the 12w is an amazing feeling and you will get to do the nuchal test as well so should give you peace of mind!

BrownXeyes · 05/08/2023 06:18

@FrostedFlake i just stopped my
medication at 12 weeks my clinic before they discharged me gave me a date to take my
last meds on and that was that. I wasnt
on Lunion though so maybe check with your clinic

CR7 · 06/08/2023 13:59

Finally got a little bump!

God it is so hard to find nice maternity clothes. I've ordered a sh1t ton online and everything is awful.

I've never had the confidence for body con dresses but I think for me it might be the way forward. I've tried on too many floaty dresses that make me look like a barge and just hang off my boobs. 🤣🤣

Normally I have luck ordering clothes online, asos is usually my best friend, but everything I've ordered has been awful xx
