Hi lovely's

Starting a new thread for those that have gone through ivf and are in the early stages as appreciate we have different anxieties maybe to other groups.

I'm Gayle, I had a fresh transfer on Monday the 13th March and I am currently 5 weeks 4 days pregnant. First test showed 1-2 weeks, last weeks test showed 2-3 and next test due on Wednesday (clinic have recommended a test a week until early scan) early scan is on the 14th April.

My husband and I have been trying for a baby for nearly 10 years. We fell pregnant naturally 6 years ago, however after some bleeding at 8 weeks, i went for an early scan and was only dating between 5 and 6 weeks so had to go back in a further 2 weeks to check if any development and the night before, I had a miscarriage. We haven't fallen since and following some tests, it was put down to make factor infertility and ICSI and was recommended however we could not proceed (privately) with my bmi so I started the hard work to lose 5 stone in May last year and hit my target in January 2023 to start our treatment.

I feel like there have been lots of barriers in our way so far. Nhs said no, due to my weight it was a no, due to the financials it was a no so to have anything with a yes now without having a massive battle, feels strange and like it's not quite true!

Symptoms so far - sore boobs, cramping, so hungry, feeling little bits of nausea but not sure if it is my mind or it is real

Feel free to tell me about your battle and how you are feeling

@CR7 @gulph thank you!

This is my second, my first is 19 months old.

I found my second pregnancy I was much less sick (first was awful) and maybe because I am used to it? Also I read that morning sickness can be much worse for those going through IVF because of the medicine. Second trimester I feel fine and baby is kicking etc :)

How about you both ?

Vallef · 16/07/2023 10:56

I’ve been all systems go this weekend after my scan last week, hadn’t bought a thing previously and now the flood gates have opened 😂
chose my pram yesterday 😬 going for the egg 2 - we had looked a few weeks back and done some Googling etc since and went back yesterday and decided it’s the one!!

gulph · 17/07/2023 08:18

@Hopewishprayer awwww it's amazing isn't it! We went for the icandy peach 7. Feels like a massive milestone picking it out and I'm so happy!

Ohhh I was between i candy peach and the egg, loved the icandy too! Felt rather surreal being in the pram shop to be honest, but amazing 🤩 DH bought first teddy bear over the weekend too 🥰

CR7 · 17/07/2023 08:29

@BrownXeyes and @Hopewishprayer and anyone else whose a season pro do let us know your recommendations as this is number 1 and it gets overwhelming!

BrownXeyes · 17/07/2023 18:37

@Vallef i have no idea I just
know other peoples my sister loves her Egg 2 travel system and my friend recommended one beginning with N but I can’t remember what it was called 🤣 x

Stopthatnoisemummy · 17/07/2023 18:50

@BrownXeyes might be nuna your friend recommended? We have one of those and love it. Will be using again once ds makes an appearance!

BrownXeyes · 17/07/2023 19:02

@Stopthatnoisemummy yes that was it! I was going to say as soon as someone says it I will know if. Debating being brave and going to this big place that does all different ones nearby at the weekend to see what i like I don’t just want to order one online without having a play with it first x

Stopthatnoisemummy · 17/07/2023 19:15

@BrownXeyes I'd definitely recommend going somewhere you can physically see them and push, understand how they fold etc.

BrownXeyes · 17/07/2023 19:20

@Stopthatnoisemummy that’s what’s I am thinking then if I can get a better deal online that’s fine but at least I’ve tried it out. X

gulph · 17/07/2023 19:49

100%, I had a shortlist of ones I liked the look of, had good reviews, different price points, good for what we would use for etc and then I found a local independent shop on Facebook and saw they did the ones on my shortlist and it just so happened they were having an event this weekend just gone where they had reps in from icandy, cybex and abc, they were doing bundle deals etc so took the chance to go and try them out whilst there were the reps there to explain everything to me so I could see what I liked. We ended up getting (what I think and hope!) is a good deal on our icandy as we got the whole bundle with the chassis, carrycot, seat, changing bag, rain covers/umbrella/cup holder/mosquito net all the adapters for the different positions etc with a cybex cloud z2 car seat and the z2 spinning base all for £1199.

@BrownXeyes thank you il have a look :)

Had such a drama filled day yesterday there was over 60 fires which broke out in mainland Greece and one of the areas was where we were living. I was saying no way will the fire travel to us as originally it was like 25km away and b3cause of high wind and wind changes it came to us. Was like a horror movie smoke everywhere everything turned yellow the Ash the smell. Just about managed to grab a few essentials and leave the area ad police were closing roads. Horrible day yesterday :( luckily our flat is intact due to wind changes again although first floor flat who had a wooden type of canopy caught fire and across the building all the gardens are burnt.

gulph · 18/07/2023 08:32

Oh @Vallef! Glad you are safe but how scary for you!

OP posts:
Vallef · 18/07/2023 08:41

@gulph thank you me 2 so glad it turned out OK because we literally just left before it got to out building everything around is burnt so it's pure luck it didn't affect our flat as things here aren't like inthe UK with insurance so if you lose your home that's it it's gone. It was my parents last day as well they came yo see me 3 days and they just left for the airport. Feeling abit hormonal with everything doesn't help I won't be seeying them again now until October bah anyway ignore me baby hormones!!

Vallef · 18/07/2023 13:04

Quick question - I just had corn on the cob and minutes after finishing I felt like a slight vibration like my lower abdomen line it stopped as suddenly as it happend. I read that you may start feeling quickening or baby changing positions from 16 weeks possibly because theirs 2? Am only 15w+3d but this f different to the gas feeling. What do you guys think it may be?
