Hi lovely's

Starting a new thread for those that have gone through ivf and are in the early stages as appreciate we have different anxieties maybe to other groups.

I'm Gayle, I had a fresh transfer on Monday the 13th March and I am currently 5 weeks 4 days pregnant. First test showed 1-2 weeks, last weeks test showed 2-3 and next test due on Wednesday (clinic have recommended a test a week until early scan) early scan is on the 14th April.

My husband and I have been trying for a baby for nearly 10 years. We fell pregnant naturally 6 years ago, however after some bleeding at 8 weeks, i went for an early scan and was only dating between 5 and 6 weeks so had to go back in a further 2 weeks to check if any development and the night before, I had a miscarriage. We haven't fallen since and following some tests, it was put down to make factor infertility and ICSI and was recommended however we could not proceed (privately) with my bmi so I started the hard work to lose 5 stone in May last year and hit my target in January 2023 to start our treatment.

I feel like there have been lots of barriers in our way so far. Nhs said no, due to my weight it was a no, due to the financials it was a no so to have anything with a yes now without having a massive battle, feels strange and like it's not quite true!

Symptoms so far - sore boobs, cramping, so hungry, feeling little bits of nausea but not sure if it is my mind or it is real

Feel free to tell me about your battle and how you are feeling

@gulph mine had finally
calmed down at about 13 weeks then it came back yesterday with full force. However haven’t been sick since breakfast this morning
so touch wood it’s done! Yes thank you sleep sounds good right about now! X

Vallef · 15/06/2023 16:51

@gulph yeh :) thank you it's weird and hasn't fully sunk in but am sure it will as time passes! How are you doing you around 14 weeks now or is it more?

@kingster1 welcome to the group ans congrats! :)

@BrownXeyes so sorry to hear that :( Where did you end up going? Qasso happy when you said it passed I didn't know it can come back and I was getting all happy that at least there's a rainbow after 12 weeks!! Try and eat maybe some dry stuff some nice fresh bread some olives or peanut butter and if you can maybe try some cherries or nectarines luckily their not causing my nausea to appear and their meant to be super super gd fruit to have. Have you tried maybe pasta or chips? They are usually soul foods? Just something hopefuly that will stay down!

Stopthatnoisemummy · 15/06/2023 16:53

@BrownXeyes hope you're feeling a bit better. My nausea has also come back, accompanied by heartburn this time.

Honestly don't worry about what you are or aren't eating just manage what you can. The baby will suck everything it needs from you, at your expense!

BrownXeyes · 15/06/2023 17:35

@Stopthatnoisemummy i think it might have been sunstroke it went on Tuesday afternoon as quickly as it came on and I just felt really tired. I have booked another private scan for next week just to be on the safe side - paranoia again. Luckily I have managed to enjoy the rest of the holiday. Ready for home now though! Aww has it really? Hopefully it passes soon for you! I’m 16 weeks today still doesn’t feel real!! X

CR7 · 16/06/2023 13:07

Hello all! Just been for a reassurance scan and my NIPT. I heard the heart beat for the first time. It was amazing 🥰

gulph · 16/06/2023 19:34

Awwwwww @CR7 that's amazing 💗 how far are you now?

I'm 16+2 now 😱 how has this even happened for me? Sure I've felt a couple of flutters already, almost like a rolling feeling....could of course be gas 😂😂

This group is so exciting in that there are ladies at every part of the journey all feeling what I did just a few weeks ago and so lovely to hear of all the success stories

@CR7 so glad all went well :) when do the results come out from the test?

@gulph gosh your right where has the time gone I can't believe your 16w already but I am already 11w today so it's all catching up and passing quick on some days!!

CR7 · 17/06/2023 21:19

@gulph @Vallef eleven weeks this week! Got a beautiful video with sound which is quite incredible. Results are seven working days from when the sample hits the lab. I'm off to Spain for a week and I have my 12 week scan booked in for early next week as soon as I'm back. Hopefully NIPT results will be back similar time. Had all my bloods and urine tests back from the nhs and all looking good.

They've already booked me in for three scans as I'm going to be consultant led which I'm delighted about.

Long may all our good news continue xx and roll on next week when I can stop all the drugs

BrownXeyes · 19/06/2023 08:01

Hi everyone, been a bit out the loop being on holiday.

@CR7 amazing news! Hope the results come back quickly and you enjoy your break away!

@gulph im 16weeks too it’s flown by hasn’t it! But then it’s seemed to take forever to get here! I’m getting paranoid again as all stretching pains seemed to have stopped etc got a private scan booked for this week and apprently they can tell me the gender - I am just
praying everything is ok after being ill on holiday x

Vallef · 19/06/2023 13:27

@CR7 I know it's so exciting right? Am.goinf for my 12w scan on Thursday and next Monday for the nucheal test however you say it! Ive been told with twins NIPT isnt as effective so would only be able to screen for 3 things instead of a whole panels of things. So not sure if I end up doing that yet! Am counting down days to stop meds on Saturday as utrogestan is still pretty much knocking me out 3 times a day where I have to lie down zonked out. I've literally had so many symptoms from the headaches, dizziness loss of appetite, nausea I've lost like half a stone and just looking forward to hitting the 12w mark on Sat so I can hopefully start feeling better with more energy! I hope you have a great time in Spain!! Where bouts are you going?

@BrownXeyes are you feeling better now hun? Could be your body is giving it a rest I was told there will be breaks between the stretching pains so maybe this is just one for you also? It's exciting that you will get to see the gender. I was told sometimes it can be seen in the nuchal test at 12w but of course it isn't 100%. What was your experience during your test? Am sure everything will be ok their so well protected in your tummy!!

BrownXeyes · 19/06/2023 13:43

@Vallef your nearly at the 12 weeks! Fantastic news!! It will be great for you to see that scan and get some reassurance.

hopefully your right and everything is ok on Wednesday when I go. Yes I did read that somewhere! I think I’ll just be an anxious mess until that baby is in my arms! Xx

CR7 · 19/06/2023 15:07

@Vallef amazing that you get your 12 week scan before you get to 12 weeks! Benefits of being in Greece 🥰🥰🥰 I can't remember if you got to last time but you'll be able to hear the two heartbeats now which will be amazing. It was a real landmark for us.

I've not found the drugs too bad but I am ready to stop them also. Luckily the dr wrote me a letter so I could take everything on the plane with me and not worry about them going awol. When I get home they all stop with the exception of the steroids which I have to wean down from. I'm excited to get my jaw line back 😂😂

Sorry you've been feeling so rough. Hopefully once you stop the drugs you'll start to feel more like yourself xx

Vallef · 19/06/2023 15:58

@CR7 yeh I heard the heart beats twice already which was and is amazing each time because the first few days after the scan your confident and then going into the 2nd week anxiety sets in so having a scan every 2 weeks is quite settling. My appointment on Thursday at 8pm I will be 11w 5d so it's nearly 12w and then the nucheal test will be done at 12w+2d so it's not that early. Am sure it's a rainbow day when it's time for all of us to cut the meds :)

Vallef · 19/06/2023 16:03

@BrownXeyes yes I really can't wait for that scan it's the highlight of the week! Wednesday is right around the corner hun so be positive snd rub that tummy!! I think at 16 they start feeling belly rubs or is it at 18 weeks?? Is this your first baby? Xx

BrownXeyes · 19/06/2023 16:23

@Vallef yes first baby - have a stepson who was 1 when I met him now 10.

i can’t wait to hear how you get on with Thursday! Keep us updated x

CR7 · 19/06/2023 19:10

Question.

My SIL who is due shortly with an IVF baby has been told that she's being induced a week early which is quite common with ivf babies and to do with the placenta.

Anyone else heard this?

I didn't press her as she doesn't know we are pregnant.

Xx

Stopthatnoisemummy · 19/06/2023 20:19

@CR7 I think it is a trust specific policy. It didn't happen with me and DD (also IVF) but I have heard it before. I asked and wasn't something my trust routinely did purely on the basis of IVF, there had to be a medical reason or concern

Vallef · 19/06/2023 22:46

@CR7 I heard that it's to do with something called placenta previa that research has shown that mothers of ivf babies had a very high % of this condition. Could it also possibly be that at 39 weeks a baby can be born without any problems and taking into consideration mothers age and any other health concerns they would rather not risk full term? Kind of how I have already been told that if I stay in Greece it would 100% be a c section and it will be at 38 weeks as multiple pregnancies if all goes well are usually born earlier. Guess we have to trust what the doctors say and like @Stopthatnoisemummy said its of course down the hospital policies looking after you as well. I hope these news hasn't made you worried don't forget you are 2 different people with different health concerns so what is decided for your SIL won't be the same for you possibly! Xx

Vallef · 19/06/2023 22:47

@BrownXeyes I will as soon as I do my scan :) awww that's lovely so you also played a major part in raising him he must be so excited to be getting a sibling!

Not at all worried but interested. Thank you ladies xx

Hopewishprayer · 20/06/2023 08:22

@CR7 i was told by my consultant that they offer the option of induction at 38/39 weeks but it’s the patient’s choice x

Stopthatnoisemummy · 20/06/2023 20:22

I had my first consultant appointment today. Confirmed we will use my ivf dates rather than the EDD based on the 12 week scan so good to have that cleared up.

Also agreed that I can go back on my medication for chronic pain, so very much hoping that will help with pain and sleep. Annoyingly there was an issue with the computer system so they couldn't prescribe it today, I have to wait until to next week. Off to rummage in the cupboard in a bit to see if I have any left from pre IVF. Blood thinners to continue until min six weeks post birth, as suspected. Boo.

16 weeks tomorrow! Still getting a lot of nausea and some more upset stomach episodes. I've felt the bean move a little bit as well which is exciting.

Community midwife on Fri so will be nice to meet her. Got the date for my 20 week scan on the 14th July which I can't wait for. We are going to ask to find our the sex this time (DD was a surprise) which will make it all feel a bit more real! DD keeps telling everyone it's a boy haha. Is anyone else going to find out?

Hope everyone is OK.

CR7 · 20/06/2023 21:23

Hi @Stopthatnoisemummy ! Great update for us all. I am on the blood thinners also so I know what a pain they are. I have bruises from them and the lubion like you wouldn't believe. Black fist size bruises. But good they are checking everything although very annoying that their system was down. All the scans sound really exciting xx

Sorry to hear you've been feeling poorly. I think I must have missed that x

BrownXeyes · 21/06/2023 08:06
