Hi lovely's

Starting a new thread for those that have gone through ivf and are in the early stages as appreciate we have different anxieties maybe to other groups.

I'm Gayle, I had a fresh transfer on Monday the 13th March and I am currently 5 weeks 4 days pregnant. First test showed 1-2 weeks, last weeks test showed 2-3 and next test due on Wednesday (clinic have recommended a test a week until early scan) early scan is on the 14th April.

My husband and I have been trying for a baby for nearly 10 years. We fell pregnant naturally 6 years ago, however after some bleeding at 8 weeks, i went for an early scan and was only dating between 5 and 6 weeks so had to go back in a further 2 weeks to check if any development and the night before, I had a miscarriage. We haven't fallen since and following some tests, it was put down to make factor infertility and ICSI and was recommended however we could not proceed (privately) with my bmi so I started the hard work to lose 5 stone in May last year and hit my target in January 2023 to start our treatment.

I feel like there have been lots of barriers in our way so far. Nhs said no, due to my weight it was a no, due to the financials it was a no so to have anything with a yes now without having a massive battle, feels strange and like it's not quite true!

Symptoms so far - sore boobs, cramping, so hungry, feeling little bits of nausea but not sure if it is my mind or it is real

Feel free to tell me about your battle and how you are feeling

CR7 · 07/06/2023 19:22

@gulph @Vallef yes!!!! Actually looked like a baby 🤣🤣🤣 the most incredible heart beat xx

Hopewishprayer · 08/06/2023 08:51

@CR7 thats great news! 😊

MaybeBabyTwo · 08/06/2023 08:57

@Vallef no results, she said she'd ring after Friday's and tell me if they've doubled, but that the first number really doesn't mean much and not to worry about it basically. I asked her to ring me if it was really bad and she hasn't rung so I'm trying to stay positive.

Just considering doing another pregnancy test but finding the anxiety of everything all a bit too much tbh.

She is right. As long as the numbers are rising / doubling, the first number doesn't mean much on its own xx

It's hard but try to stay calm xx

Just taken another FRER, line is as dark as the control but no darker. Same as the last few. I was hoping it might be a 'dye stealer' that you see. Anyway. Tomorrow we will have BETA results. Thanks for reassuring me.

Stay strong everyone 💪

@MaybeBabyTwo she is right hun the first alone doesn't count for much so try not to worry too much :) a positive is a positive so try and take deep breath rub your tummy abit and you know what I spoke to it as well it helped keep me focused right at the start and I still do it when I panic.

@CR7 scan completed last night it was amazing full baby shapes and strong heartbeats. Midwife did scare me abit that am high risk and need to be monitored every 2 weeks to ensure the cervix stays thick. Need to book my 12 week scan now so cross fingers all goes well xx

CR7 · 09/06/2023 09:51

@Vallef amazing news!!!! So so pleased for you! What does that mean about the cervix? Xxx

Vallef · 09/06/2023 11:38

Apparently if its high risk your cervix could reduce thickness which causes you to go into premature labour between 4 months and 7 months and you end up losing the baby. So it needs monitoring every 2 weeks until 7 months so they can catch it early on if they see there's an issue they do surgical stitches to keep it closed. Mine measured 4cm I think which was excellent but just need to ensure it stays that way. I just feel so worried to come back to the UK now I can't imagine them monitoring me every 2 weeks!!

MaybeBabyTwo · 09/06/2023 12:47

@Vallef they will monitor you every two weeks if there is reason to, do you have a reason to be high risk? I will have fortnightly monitoring because of a previous premature delivery (I did last time too but it wasn't my cervix that caused the prematurity!). I had no issues getting the monitoring but they don't do it as standard.

Vallef · 10/06/2023 15:39

@MaybeBabyTwo hey so a multiple pregnancy is considered high risk. I just don't really talk about it as it hasn't sunk in and am still scared as my first pregnancy last November which was 4th cycle resulted in miscariage at week 6. How far along as you now? Xx

I can't stop craving ready salted crisps over literally just smashed a 90g packet within minutes even though am stuffed I coulndt stop. Anyone experiencing something similar?

Omg you're having twinssss ♥️♥️ this is so exciting xxxxx

Vallef · 10/06/2023 16:23

@CR7 exciting but also so scary!! Finally having waited so many years now knowing there's 2 it's just now slowly sinking in why am literally knocked out all the time with no energy what so ever! I managed to make a joke for the first time yesterday when I fancied noodles and DH didn't I was like 3 of us 1 of you so I win lol

kingster1 · 11/06/2023 20:05

Hi can I join your posts. Been following your progresses so far. Hope everyone is surviving this heat. Sorry for the people going through anxieties and hard time at the minute.
I'm currently 22 days post 5 day double embryo transfer. One good quality and another poor quality (last minute decision as they could not freeze it so we said just put it back in!).
Positive test 6 days post transfer.
6 week scan Thursday, so anxious re this. Had miscarriage around now last time.

Beta 12 days post transfer was 379.
17 days post was 3400.
Saw some people having twins, amazing news. Can only imagine how amazing it would he if our two embryos stuck.
Everyone around me having babies! One in family this week, another niece due soon. Xx

CR7 · 11/06/2023 20:09

Welcome and congratulations @kingster1 xx please keep us posted on how you're getting on

gulph · 12/06/2023 18:29

Well we are currently on our holiday and I’m constantly throwing everything up I eat…even watermelon. I’m so worried that I’m not eating enough or holding anything down for the baby. Feel awful honestly I could jist
get a flight home I’m so hungry but the sickness is next level I’m literally throwing up until there is just bile coming out 😫 sorry for the rant! X

CR7 · 13/06/2023 14:22

Oh no @BrownXeyes ! Hopefully it will pass quickly xxx

CR7 · 13/06/2023 14:36

I've just been for my nhs booking appointment at the hospital. It was a really lovely experience and I've got my next four appointments sorted already! I'm also going to be consultant led and have loads more scans and appointments so I'm really pleased.

Had lots of blood tests and urine tested and should have the results tomorrow.

They discussed NIPT with me but they don't do it until around 16 weeks so I've paid privately to have it done on Friday when I have my next private scan xx

BrownXeyes · 13/06/2023 17:51

@CR7 I’m glad you had a good experience! Hopefully that remains! I have booked yet another private scan for when I get back home just
for reassurance after holiday and after this holiday I think I’ll need it! X

I get one on Friday with the NIPT.

Private scans near me are £45. I will have as many as I need to keep me calm xx

gulph · 13/06/2023 21:40

Oh @BrownXeyes that sucks! Did you have sickness before as well or has the sickness come on suddenly?
Try to enjoy your hols as much as you can, even if you just sleep as much as you can xxx
