Hi lovely's

Starting a new thread for those that have gone through ivf and are in the early stages as appreciate we have different anxieties maybe to other groups.

I'm Gayle, I had a fresh transfer on Monday the 13th March and I am currently 5 weeks 4 days pregnant. First test showed 1-2 weeks, last weeks test showed 2-3 and next test due on Wednesday (clinic have recommended a test a week until early scan) early scan is on the 14th April.

My husband and I have been trying for a baby for nearly 10 years. We fell pregnant naturally 6 years ago, however after some bleeding at 8 weeks, i went for an early scan and was only dating between 5 and 6 weeks so had to go back in a further 2 weeks to check if any development and the night before, I had a miscarriage. We haven't fallen since and following some tests, it was put down to make factor infertility and ICSI and was recommended however we could not proceed (privately) with my bmi so I started the hard work to lose 5 stone in May last year and hit my target in January 2023 to start our treatment.

I feel like there have been lots of barriers in our way so far. Nhs said no, due to my weight it was a no, due to the financials it was a no so to have anything with a yes now without having a massive battle, feels strange and like it's not quite true!

Symptoms so far - sore boobs, cramping, so hungry, feeling little bits of nausea but not sure if it is my mind or it is real

Feel free to tell me about your battle and how you are feeling

@BrownXeyes amazing news!!!

I have holidays booked. I've been told to ensure insurance is fully comp, no zika obvs and ideally somewhere with great hospitals for worst case scenarios xx

@BrownXeyes glad your scan went well! I'm due the 29th November so almost due date buddies! I'm currently in Jersey (so only a 1 hour flight) but guess the rules are generally the same. I didn't have to do anything different at this point (14 weeks). I guess if you are going long haul, you need to move more than usual as you are more at risk of dvt when preggas but other than that, enjoy the rest 💗

Thank you everyone! X

Amazing news @BrownXeyes where are you off to on your hols? As others have said, just make sure insurance is sorted and move around when on the plane, otherwise enjoy yourself 😃

UrbanParakeet · 01/06/2023 10:23

@BrownXeyes Recommend compression socks. I always wear them for long haul flights but it helps with circulation. When I fly my feet get super swollen (even before pregnant) and they have always helped.

BrownXeyes · 01/06/2023 11:02

@UrbanParakeet ok thank you I will get some. X

I literally gag at the pregnacare supplements - they’re so big to swallow! Does anyone else have any recommendations (preferably gummies) which have all the essential vitamins in them

Hopewishprayer · 06/06/2023 17:14

Hey, hope everyone is well!
I went for first dating scan last week (14 weeks) and was excited to see update on baby as had a private (internal) scan at 11 weeks and everything was so clear.
the baby was in an akward position so was sent away and went back again today and although I’m a different position this time still not great and really difficult to make out on screen, and i got a scan photo but honestly it’s so difficult to make out.
I am so happy and grateful that everything is looking good with the baby BUT I just feel a little disappointed that I don’t have an updated scan pic - feel like I’m the only one as all other 12 week scans people share look so clear - anyone else have the same thing?

CR7 · 06/06/2023 17:19

@Hopewishprayer totally get the disappointment xx it's a big milestone. But like you said. All is looking really really good so try to let that relief flood through you.

I've seen some very blurry scan photos at 12 weeks so I don't think it's unusual xx

MaybeBabyTwo · 06/06/2023 17:26

Tentatively joining, positive after our FET (second baby, first one fresh in 2020 with a failed FET in between). Not sure I will fully believe its real for a while yet. Hated hated hated x 1000 the anxiety of the first trimester the last time round. Already battling with some pretty crazy thoughts! Really helpful to read your posts and know there are people in the same position x

BrownXeyes · 06/06/2023 19:57

@Hopewishprayer i found that my NHS scan was blurry compared to the private ones I had anyways the pictures just aren’t as clear! I was quite dissapointed with mine too but just so grateful everything was ok xx

gulph · 06/06/2023 20:03

@Hopewishprayer same. I had a private scan at 10 weeks which they did abdominally and I feel that was clearer than my 12 week scan pic. I was thinking if I had t had any previous scans and planning on doing the big announcement, I would be well disappointed 😂 the main thing is healthy at the moment 💗 I will be 15 weeks tomorrow, 5 more weeks and I'm halfway 😱

@BrownXeyes @gulph yes main thing is everything is looking great 😊

@gulph me too 15 weeks, got 20 week scan appointment today, it’s going so quickly!

BrownXeyes · 07/06/2023 08:54

@Hopewishprayer not sure about yours but me and hubby thought it might be that our private ones were internal but the NHS was just a normal tummy ultrasound maybe that’s why it was blurry? I don’t know. Glad everything is looking good for you
though xx

CR7 · 07/06/2023 09:23

I have a private scan today. 9 weeks. Do you think it's external? The slot is only ten mins so I think it must be?

I've only every had scans with my private ivf clinic. The 6 week scan was Internal xx

CR7 · 07/06/2023 09:24

@gulph I think you may have answered my question below haha!

gulph · 07/06/2023 09:26

When I went for a private 10 week, they said that before 10 weeks they do internal, as I was exactly 10 weeks, they said they would start external and see how much they could see but can change to internal if need be. They were able to see everything externally so they carried on external xxx

CR7 · 07/06/2023 09:39

@gulph thank you so much xx

laurapop · 07/06/2023 10:07

@MaybeBabyTwo welcome! were you on the Feb FET thread? I recognise your name. I also had a failed FET in Feb after a 2020 baby. I've been feeling really anxious too (as I'm sure we all have!) but it has gone quite quickly. How many weeks are you? x

CR7 · 07/06/2023 10:46

I just called. They said external and to come with a full bladder. Reminds me of egg transfer bladder stress hahah 😑

Vallef · 07/06/2023 13:58

@MaybeBabyTwo welcome to the group and congrats on the good news :) how along are you?

@CR7 gd luck on the scan today and let us know how it goes! Mines tomorrow at 9w+5d

@Hopewishprayer when my sister was pregnant they used to tell her to have some orange juice or a piece of chocolate just before not sure if that was to get thw baby to move and make the scan clearer so not sure if something like that would help but I get your disappointment I think am we live for these scans and we want to see the lil one. Maybe having a private scan just to satisfy that need might be worth it? Xx

MaybeBabyTwo · 07/06/2023 15:44

Hi @laurapop and @Vallef yes I was in the Feb group. Today is OTD and still positive, not feeling that reassured by the lines but trying to stay positive. Clinic don't routinely do BETAs but I asked and they're happy to so I had the first done today, second on Friday so hopefully we'll know where things are before the weekend.

How is everyone else doing?

Had my scan. All looked perfect. Booked in for NIPT testing next week. The relief of having a good scan is just overwhelming isn't it xx
