@unluckyinlife @Marmaladebear thanks for the insight! I’ve looked online and you’re right they can’t ask you if you’re expecting, but they can ask about change in income and outgoings which in my case will change as my mat leave is staggered such that I get 100%, then 90%, then 50% pay, then SMP and then when I go back to work, nursery fees will obvious take a big wad of cash.
We are stretching ourselves to the max we can afford, so I’m hesitant to disclose pregnancy to the lender, or even our broker because crunching the numbers, DH can cover the mortgage and nursery fees on his salary alone (not that it will come to that) , it’s just I’m a bit worried that they are stress testing a lot stricter that the last time we took on a mortgage and that the amount a lender may be willing to lend will change if they know I’m pregnant.

In our last property everything mortgage related was done entirely over post, so I’m not worried about being caught out, more worried that we’re on the right side of the rules whilst not screwing over our potential purchase!

AnnieApple123 · 27/02/2023 19:07

Are you all still comfortably able to lie on your backs? I asked about this at my last appointment and was told I should follow my body’s cues as to when this was no longer ok. I think that time may already have come as I felt a bit breathless lying on my back today. It does feel quite limiting as I often lie on the bed or sofa with DS to read stories.

@AnnieApple123 ive been trying to stay on my side overnight but I constantly wake up on my back! Does it get easier the bigger you get 🤣

CityKity · 27/02/2023 19:32

@ChloeN I’m the same! I’ve been trying to practice sleeping on my side and keep finding myself on my back. I hate side sleeping and can never get comfy, I’m much happier on my back so I’m also hoping this gets easier over time

AnnieApple123 · 27/02/2023 19:37

@ChloeN Yes I’d say it does get easier the bigger you get as it genuinely does start to feel uncomfortable and like you’re being squashed.

@unluckyinlife we didn't disclose when I was pregnant last time we moved house - it actually never occurred to me that I'd have to tell them 🤷🏽‍♀️ they went through our finances with a fine tooth comb and we answered all the questions honestly! Our conveyancer found out about the baby a year or so after he was born when we needed her to look at another contract for us and we actually all laughed that none of us knew because of lockdown

I'm so glad you didn't have any issues. I'm so nervous! I think I'll be climbing the walls by the end of the next week if we haven't heard!

I'm certain I can feel baby kicking very lightly which is so special. I can't wait until its strong enough for my husband and kids to feel it. X

Honestly, the mortgage nerves have well and truly kicked in today. My husband and I genuinely forgot I was pregnant for about an hour yesterday when looking at buying sofas 😂xx

@ChloeN @LBF2020 @CityKity Here we go… this is the scan report for DS who appeared to be massive in every way and whose estimated fetal weight was above the 95th centile.

He was born at 39 weeks weighing 7lbs which put him on the 25th centile. The sonographer I had this time at 13 weeks said this one is looking similarly big so far. I’ll definitely be taking it with a pinch of salt this time!

@AnnieApple123 I was told DS was over the scale and defo 10+lb,.
He was born a week later 7.13lb 😂

sally16 · 27/02/2023 20:21

@unluckyinlife we got a mortgage for a house on 13/12 and had my son 21/12.. we answered the questions but didn't give any extra info away for free 🤣 I had full mat pay thankfully due to a fuck up with my old works maternity leave document so also didn't have the loss of wages thankfully to disclose!

Good luck!!! Sounds a perfect family home 💙

unluckyinlife · 27/02/2023 20:23

@sally16 sounds like a dream! Thank you for all the luck 💛

ChloeN · 27/02/2023 20:29

@AnnieApple123 oh good I was hoping the belly would weigh my down and keep me there 🤣

@CityKity I thought the pillow would keep you stuck on the side but just roll in the middle 🤦🏻‍♀️

AnnieApple123 · 27/02/2023 20:48

@AnnieApple123 I was told DS was over the scale and defo 10+lb,.

It does seem surprising these measures are taken so seriously given how many stories like ours I’ve come across.

OP posts:
Amme18 · 27/02/2023 21:52

Yes I was on the “big baby trial” last time 😅 estimated over 10lb and born at 39+2 at 8lb 9.5. By no means tiny and if I’d gone overdue I might have been looking at a 10lber 🤣 but if you saw us you’d know we were never going to have tiny babies either!

sally16 · 28/02/2023 04:02

@AnnieApple123 yup! So many people being induced for no reason too :(

They seem to be more accurate for smaller babies who need to make an appearance but not seen many big babies be accurate!
My son was very long and skinny 😅

BusyBushBaby · 28/02/2023 06:58

I was induced for big baby last time. They estimated him at 4.5kg at 38+5, induced 2 days later and he was born at 39+5 weighing 4.5kg (9lb15oz). So not quite as big as they thought but plenty large enough! He was 56cm long too but the main issue was his ginormous head, they couldn't fit the hat on it.

AnnieApple123 · 28/02/2023 07:14

This is one reason I dislike having scans. Every one I’ve ever had has caused me unnecessary extra anxiety in some way.

OP posts:
JT2021 · 28/02/2023 08:27

Morning! I have a private gender scan tonight… so anxious about it. Totally get what you mean @AnnieApple123 - I’m new to all this scan stuff but the anxiety on the lead up is just horrible. I can’t even focus on work today properly.

Just hope baby cooperates this time so we can see who they are… feels weird that we will finally know after all this time wondering. I don’t have an inkling either way tbh… always imagined first baby would be a girl so I’m fully expecting a boy to appear now 😂

LBF2020 · 28/02/2023 09:07

@AnnieApple123 thanks for the percentile stats from your last pregnancy. Are the measurements from your 20 week scan? and did they offer you more scans as he was measuring big? I can't believe how wrong the measurements can be!

AnnieApple123 · 28/02/2023 09:11

@LBF2020 yes from 20 weeks. They recommended an additional growth scan at 32 weeks. I’d decided the outcome wouldn’t change any of my plans though so I declined.

LBF2020 · 28/02/2023 10:24

@AnnieApple123 I hope I have the same willpower!
I'll remember these conversations when i'm being told I have a whopper in there 🤣

BoodifulGoose · 28/02/2023 12:17

Just had my 16 week appointment (at 17+3) and met my new midwife, the first one I met seems to be on extended absence, she was so lovely 🥰

Nice to get more information and listened to babies heartbeat 😁
She had to re-find the heartbeat 3 times as it kicked so violently away, and was moving constantly 😂
I'm happy to be convinced I'm still definitely pregnant, and mildly nervous about actually feeling the baby as that's the 12 week tech and my midwife both seemed very surprised at "how active it is" 😂 sounds like I'll be in for a bit of a kicking!

LBF2020 · 28/02/2023 13:32

@BoodifulGoose aw that's so lovely ☺️ I can't wait to feel movement. I had convinced myself that I was feeling something but I haven't had it everyday or regularly so I'm assuming it's gas 🤣

Sjw30 · 28/02/2023 14:39

@BoodifulGoose ah lovely ☺️

I’m convinced I felt something yesterday I’m really not sure! I felt flutters on my left side for about 5-10 seconds.

Amme18 · 28/02/2023 15:17

@LBF2020 my midwife said there wouldn’t be a pattern to the movements just yet! So likely you have felt them 😊
