@nadsc From my research it's only possible to change length if you have had trauma to the area since your daughter's birth i.e. surgery or abnormal cells removed. I was told I had a short cervix by my gynae but they can only diagnose it by doing a TV ultrasound. Hope today is better for you ❤️

@Sjw30 that's crazy! Our poor bodies are going through so much. Do you have much of a bump yet? I've been feeling really uncomfortable (congested?) in the last few days. But no real bump yet.

Sjw30 · 24/02/2023 10:25

@LBF2020 i know it’s amazing really what our bodies go through! I have a bit of a “B belly” and carry a little weight on my lower stomach so not a bump as such but there’s definitely some changes there. I can’t wait to have a proper bump though 🤣.

LBF2020 · 24/02/2023 10:35

@Sjw30 mine is exactly the same! It just looks like my normal belly but a bit chubbier 🤣

@LBF2020 yep 🙈 officially in the stage where people are probably wonder if I’m pregnant or just putting weight on 🤣

@P1pk , @DesertSnow and @overwork Thanks for your thoughts. I’ve been thinking about this more and I agree that I should stick to the original plan and book where I know I feel most comfortable. As you all say, the standard of care should be high at both. A small part of me has wondered whether the obstetrician would mind me not following her advice yet I honestly can’t imagine that would be an issue.

@Sjw30 and @nadsc I’m sorry you’ve both been having such a difficult time with scares. This sounds very hard. xx

@nadsc and @LBF2020 that’s my understanding of cervix length too. It wouldn’t just change without something happening that you were aware of.

I’ve had some drown blood in discharge since part weekend too. Was checked on Tuesday and everything was fine with cervix and baby so got put on progesterone until 16 weeks (I was 13+3 on Tuesday) as a precaution as I had 2 previous early miscarriages. It seems to have stopped now though. None yesterday or today so far.

@allgoodthings84 glad all was fine when you were checked and hope you don't get anymore blood. I seem to bleed through pregnancy too and I always find it scary.

Just had a weird chat with HR... It's my second pregnancy at my company and the HR person has changed and the vibe was not nice. Like last time the HR person gave me tips on timing my KIT days to get the most pay whereas this time the new person basically lectured me saying I need to outline how I want to use them and to make sure it's productive "because the company are paying you at the end of the day". I know that's all true but felt a bit hostile and like I was being treated like a naughty kid and not at all trusted🙄 which is not the usual vibe of the place I work. Maybe it's because she's new she's being extra strict 🤷🏽‍♀️

Sorry for all those having a bad week! I feel your pain.
Started off the week worrying about blood in my stools (sorry tmi) doctor said piles are common in pregnancy so I've had that checked and it is indeed piles. So glamorous! I then fainted on a dog walk Tuesday, back to the doctors Wednesday super low blood pressure and iron deficiency. Trying to manage iron with diet for now because of piles and not wanting constipation with that 🙄
Then today I've had a letter from my midwife saying that I am rhesus negative. Any of you ladies with experience of this that can shed some light on what this means pregnancy wise? I don't have the mental or emotional capacity to contact my midwife for advice today 😅 x

Oh goodness, so many people having a hard time! So sorry to hear this @allgoodthings84 and @MinnieFirstTimeMum .

@MinnieFirstTimeMum There are iron supplement options which don’t cause constipation. Spatone and Floradix are good if you need a gentle boost. There are stronger ones too including Biocare Liquid Iron and Fe-Zyme. I’ve been working my way through them myself.

@MinnieFirstTimeMum Im negative, I think there’s a few of us on here that are! Where I live they gave me a blood test to check the babies blood type, if it’s negative you’re all good but if it’s positive you need the Anti D injection. My babies positive so I think I’m given the injection at 28 weeks, and again if I knock my bump or have bleeding. I don’t think there’s any other problems with it really so shouldn’t effect the pregnancy at all! X

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 24/02/2023 15:41

@ChloeN that is reassuring thank you. Doesn't sound like too much of a complication x

@MinnieFirstTimeMum jeez, that’s some week! Hope you’re feeling okay now. I’m on iron but where I am they’ve started giving everyone that’s even close to being low a low dose of iron, so I just take it every second day. They say it saves getting to 28 weeks, being low then needing the proper tablets that cause bad constipation and side effects. So far I’ve been okay on them I think! Maybe you could get something low like that? It’s so hard to eat enough of the right stuff!

I’m also in the rhesus negative camp! I don’t know what blood type baby is as they don’t do that extra blood test here but my last baby was positive so sure enough this one will be the same 🙈 the last thing I was needing when I already felt like a pin cushion after my section last time, took so many attempts for the student midwife to get blood out my arm so I was black and blue then his result came back positive so another jag it was 🙄😂 I get it at 28 weeks automatically and haven’t had any bleeding so far so haven’t needed it yet. It does make me more weary of things like going on holiday though in case I needed it

@BCxx This is interesting about iron in your area. I remember you mentioning it on a previous thread. Is there a particular supplement they give? I have difficulties absorbing iron which pre-date pregnancy. Knowing this though, I was able to stay on top of it well from the start in my last pregnancy and my levels actually stayed fairly good.

I’m so sorry for everyone having a tough time at the minute.

@Marmaladebear sorry your meeting with HR was far from nice, you’d think that she would have been kinder - especially since she’s new!

@BCxx that’s so interesting that you don’t get the test telling you baby’s blood type- I always assumed it was done everywhere.

Had an interesting start to my day, somehow I managed to fall down some steps. Luckily only about 4, I managed to land with one leg tucked under my bum and the other extended. I’m just relieved I didn’t knock my stomach at all but it gave me a bit of a fright. I think with how I landed I’m lucky I haven’t hurt my leg beyond a bit of an ache in my thigh and ankle. I’ve felt baby move a bit which is a relief and otherwise feel fine, I guess I’m a little bit anxious despite everything feeling fine.

@Marmaladebear I’m feeling better, baby started moving a bit ago so that’s settled my anxiety. I was just stunned for a bit when it first happened, I had no comprehension on how it could have happened. I think I caught the edge of the stair and lost all footing, the oddest thing is our stairs curve at the bottom so how I didn’t hit my stomach or even bump it slightly I don’t know - massively relieved I didn’t of course! Dd is in bed, I’m sat in bed and planning to crochet for as long as I can and then possibly watch a show on my tablet - as relaxing as I can make it!

Hi ladies, just trying to catch up. How is everyone? Have I missed much, it’s so hard to scroll over so many posts. Days just seem to be rolling into weeks at the moment, I feel like I have no time at all. Busy pregnancy week next week, consultant for the first time, private gender scan and then midwife. Does anyone know at what point if they agree to a planned section they will give you a date?

I’ll check the name of it. I don’t really know what it is but it’s a very small tablet, it’s like the pill when I used to take that. For some reason they seem to think taking that three times a week will stop you getting to the stage that you need iron later on. Last time they always said I was fine and didn’t need it but was taking the pregnacare max tablets so I do kind of think that probably helped

@Nic2908 I got my date the month before last time but that was after a bit of a battle to get to the speak to the consultant, I think I was maybe 34 or 35 weeks and I think most people have to wait until 36. This time due to the previous section and being on the red pathway they have said I can have one if I want one, they didn’t even bother reading me the leaflet on a vbac when I said how sure I was 🙈 I have a phone call at 34 weeks to book it but last time I had one phone call to discuss it at 29 weeks and she booked it there and then but didn’t tell me she had until I had the next appointment. Most places I’ve heard of seem to be 34-36 weeks. Are you managing to get to speak to a consultant?

Report
BCxx · 24/02/2023 21:04

@Rowanandremy yeah really don’t know why they don’t do it when it’s obviously available! I didn’t get it last time but assumed maybe I would this time but nope 🤷🏼‍♀️ If it could save me a jag or two it would definitely be worthwhile 😂

I asked about an elective c section at my 16 week midwife appointment. I am getting referred to a senior midwife for a talk on the risks - apparently this will get scheduled at 24 weeks and if they approve then I have to speak with the obstetrician. They will schedule to take place in week 39 unless any other issues.
