@newmummie haha , yes baby only moves around when not looking definitely 👍.

Baby feels like little taps or flicks from the inside just randomly

marleyandme · 20/03/2023 07:08

@newmummie have you or your partner tried talking to it? I often prod my belly to see if we get some kicks and it usually works but yesterday it didn't so my partner put his head to my belly and spoke to it, then they moved! 😍 I feel sorry for all the prodding and sounds baby is having to deal with 😂 but it's very cute!

jollydollyirl · 20/03/2023 07:39

@newmummie ok I think I can relate! 😂 how often would you feel kicks at this stage??

BCxx · 20/03/2023 07:46

I’m 18 weeks and feel like the kicks are really easy to tell this time but I’m sure they’re just the exact same as last time yet I didn’t think I’d felt any at this point! I notice them especially around when I’m eating or if I I’ve just had something sweet. I must get them about 5 times a day for a minute or so at a time, maybe more times than that

JT2021 · 20/03/2023 12:26

Had my 20 week scan today - all went mostly well, baby boy very fond of putting his fists up 😂he moved a lot and let us get measurements for everything but annoyingly wouldn’t budge to let us get a good view of his heart… so we are back for another scan straight after holiday. Trying not to worry as it was a case of him not moving rather than there being a clear issue, so hoping all is okay… but concerned as my MIL has heart issues and no idea if DH has the same, so if anything was going to show up, I felt it might be the heart. Anyway I’m trying to focus on the positives that he is all good apart from that and now gotta hope my compression socks fit for the flight tomorrow!

Hope everyone is okay regardless ❤

DesertSnow · 20/03/2023 12:26

@CityKity funny you should ask, yesterday is the first day I didn't go for a scheduled run since I've been pregnant. I usually run three times a week, but my second run last week was incredibly uncomfortable - like you I felt pain low down and was so slow and heavy, I felt so uncomfortable. Also despite peeing right before I left, I needed to pee again 5 minutes in. Yesterday I decided not to even try as I was having some bad cramps that were worrying me, but they've eased now so I may try again tomorrow. But I think it will be a walk/run situation. I am also at my desk all day and look forward to my runs, and running in spring is just the best! But I think my body is starting to tell me to either stop or at least seriously adjust. I'm 21+2 for context. I was really hoping I'd be able to keep up running for longer, but we need to listen to our bodies.

Congrats on the boy confirmation @Spiralout! We also got our pram in the last day of the M&P sale yesterday.

With you on the fatigue @Createcomet. I get to 3pm and just want to go to bed.

Had a bit of a worrying weekend with some cramps that were starting to really unnerve me, and I didn't feel any movement. But this morning thank goodness cramps have eased and baby has been the most active I've felt it. Anomaly scan tomorrow, so not long to wait to check if all looks ok.

BCxx · 20/03/2023 12:33

@JT2021 glad the rest all went well 😊 I posted about this the other day as that’s exactly what happened to me with my son. I’m now slightly dreading this one in case it’s the same but it all worked out fine and it was purely down to his position. Try not to worry, I’m sure you’ll go back and get the measurements easily next time x

DesertSnow · 20/03/2023 13:46

@JT2021 ah we posted at the same time so I missed yours. Glad scan went well, totally get your anxiety around heart but am sure it is positioning! Seems common for repeat scans to be needed. Enjoy your holiday and try not to worry about it ☺️

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 20/03/2023 20:29

Does anybody else still feel like they aren't even pregnant?
Still no movement (18+4), and literally no other symptoms, all bloating gone!
I didn't know I would ever stress over feeling normal 😬

ChloeN · 20/03/2023 20:48

Just out of interest when do the midwive start measuring your bump? Is it from the 25 week appointment?☺️

Babykingincoming · 20/03/2023 21:08

My baby is due August 14th ❤️ lovely to meet you all!!

newmummie · 20/03/2023 21:13

What's everyone's bump like? You would never know I'm pregnant no bump whatsoever & I'm 19 weeks + 1, I have a friend due the day before me and she's huge! Everyone really is different I suppose

newmummie · 20/03/2023 21:13

We're also both first time mums! So it's not like she's had a baby before

ChloeN · 20/03/2023 21:28

@newmummie mine I think is like an actual bump, but I get comments from some people saying it’s tiny, I don’t know what they expect for 20 weeks lol🤣

CityKity · 20/03/2023 22:00

@newmummie I told a few people at work today who were shocked and don’t understand how I can be pregnant when I have no bump. Everyone’s different though and I definitely feel like I’ve had a big bump growth spurt in just the last week. I’m 21W now and feel like I have a bump now, but in reality when I look at photos of myself, it really just looks like bloating, so I can see how it’s not obvious to others.

@DesertSnow yes to the immediate need to pee! I’m exactly the same. I actually did a run today at work and it was SO much better than the one I tried at the weekend, so maybe there’s still some running left in the tank. My route at work is super flat whereas my home route is a bit more hilly, so I wonder if that tiny bit more effort is contributing more to the heaviness feeling and needing to run/walk. Ah well, you’re right it’s time to listen to our bodies and adjust when needed but I will miss those sunny runs!

Marmaladebear · 20/03/2023 22:03

I'm also exhausted. But I've also caught a cold and am solo parenting this week while my husband works overseas so it could just be that. Fingers crossed my childcare doesn't fall through (and do irreparable damage to my appraisal like it did last time!)

BCxx · 20/03/2023 22:25

@ChloeN I get a 28 week appointment where I am and that’s when they start the bump measurements here and plot you on the graph. At my first one last time it was first thing in the morning and I wasn’t bloated so measured small and had to go for a growth scan straight away. The same thing happened again at another one of the measurements. Don’t think that will be happening this time! 🐳

P1pk · 21/03/2023 06:50

Hi all, so much to catch up on in a few days!

@Babykingincoming welcome!

@newmummie I felt like I had no bump until this weekend when I've just all of a sudden seem to have popped out. Everyone's body is different so don't stress

@ChloeN I've got a 28 week appt with midwife when she said she would start measuring too.

@Marmaladebear good luck! I hope the child care does come through, last time was a complete nightmare for you 😢

@MinnieFirstTimeMum as I mentioned about my bump, some symptoms of tiredness have come back all of a sudden too. Ive also got pelvic pain when I'm sleeping now and woken up with cramping this am. Thinking to call the doctor or community midwife

JT2021 · 21/03/2023 07:15

Thanks @BCxx and @DesertSnow for the reassurance. I’m glad the scan went well otherwise and just excited to get a bit of sunshine now!

@newmummie im on the larger side so for ages it’s just looked like I overindulged at the buffet, but I’d say the last couple of weeks it looks more rounded like a bump, but still not massive!

sally16 · 21/03/2023 07:18

My midwife plots the bump at 24 weeks if the person has a bump.. If not then 28 weeks she said!
I asked why because it seemed a bit odd and she said a lot of women, especially first time mums don't tend to pop much until then as there stomach muscles don't relax much until they have too 🤣 I'm unsure if that's just her experience or what but it made sense from my last preganncy! I didn't have much until I was on holiday and presumed it was holiday bloat but nope.. it stayed 🤣

LS888 · 21/03/2023 08:04

My bump seems to have grown quite a bit in the past week. I think it’s really obvious but I haven’t had anyone ask if I’m pregnant. I’m actually helping a friend out at the weekend with a sustainable fashion workshop and I’m being a ‘model’ I use that term very lightly! 🤣 I had to find a dress from her shared wardrobe that fit and suited a bump. The dress I’ve chosen is quite fitted but I’ve tried it on a few times to check if I look fat or pregnant 🤣

Createcomet · 21/03/2023 11:39

Sorry, off topic but....I feel very all over the place at the moment. Tired, overwhelmed and teary. I know its just hormones but does anyone think this is cause enough to refer to mental health team in some way/speak to midwife? I just feel very depleted and a bit flat, and it seems to be continuing rather than getting better.

We just went to a toddler group this morning and my son (who is 2) got frustrated and hit a little girl with a toy buggy, this is very out of character for him. The little girl was thankfully fine and I tried to make my son apologise and show some compassion, but the little girls granny was very rude to me, wouldn't let me resolve it, completely ignored me. I then stupidly burst into tears because i was so shocked and frustrated and I wanted to go home but my friend managed to make me feel a bit better so I stayed. The granny saw I was upset and came over...Not to apologise, but to have another go at me! So obviously I then felt bad again and got more upset. I was watching him, it happened quickly and he's only 2. I've seen other kids do a lot worse to him and I've never been rude like she was.

I just feel so on edge all the time and so fed up. Should I speak to my midwife, or am I over reacting? I feel like some time to myself would resolve a lot of problems, but I don't know how to get that really 🤦‍♀️

BCxx · 21/03/2023 12:53

@Createcomet aw sorry she was so rude to you. There is absolutely no need for it at all. They are very young children and have to learn how to behave around other children, by making mistakes along the way. The fact you were watching and intervened shows that you were dealing with it. I was at a children’s party at the weekend and felt a bit on edge as there were older children there too and I just didn’t want to be that mum who’s child is running riot hitting kids etc so I was having to watch him like a hawk and keep jumping on situations just so it looked like I was intervening 🤦🏼‍♀️

Are you feeling anxious or just very emotional? Is there anyone would could help you out to give you a little break? It’s worth mentioning to your midwife in case it could be the start of something. If I even have a minor disagreement with my husband and he’s not being nice to me I just burst into tears now. I can’t help it 🙈

overwork · 21/03/2023 14:41

Just had my amniocentesis. Was okay, I wasn't watching but whatever they did for the second part was the most uncomfortable part of it.
Now on the settee with a hot water bottle which baby keeps kicking so hopefully it's still quite happy in there! Will get the first set of results in the next week so will be able to get on with things after that. I'm really relieved that it's done

BMK · 21/03/2023 15:51

@Createcomet ,are you perhaps just exhausted/burnt out/low on energy reserves and hence extra emotional and not able to cope as usual? It sounds like your life is as normal but you're pregnant and hence exhausted but the daily demands have remained the same or increased over a considerable time so you may just be in need of a full week off or certainly a few days. Is there a creche/minder your son can go to to give you a break*irrespective of whether this is sth you would normally do or not. Also if you look or put a notice up for a child minder etc you would be surprised how many are operating ,with just a few children, outside of being an official creche and would give you a break. I have an au pair and I have no idea how any of you can work and parent whilst pregnant without being utterly utterly depleted and miserable. I have no idea where the glamorous enjoyable pregnancy thing came from but I imagine a Hollywood film or the rich and famous as it's not the 'on the ground ' reality. This is my 3rd pregnancy and I am only finally kind of 'enjoying'- like not disliking - it this time for.the first time. Likely a lot to do with said Au Pair and paring back work significantly so am not under pressure as in both last ones
