@LS888 @Spiralout im also on the higher BMI…and got a call off a midwife today to ask if I wanted free slimming world 😐 honestly felt like telling her where to go…felt very insensitive to make a specific unplanned phonecall for it. Informed her I’ve gained 2lb so far so I’m not concerned and have struggled to eat as is so no thank you I don’t want to diet 🙄

How cheeky!!! I was really high last time but a bit better this time and each time I've been told to try and maintain my weight and not to lose!!
SW is a toxic wee pyramid scheme anyway.. wouldn't waste my time being told weekly I'm fat and pregnant then arguing about chewing vs mashing a banana 😆

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 08/03/2023 08:21

@BusyBushBaby thank you. I have ordered some but good to know the quality is okay. I am never really sure with some online places x

Miraclesdohappen88 · 08/03/2023 08:27

I've also purchased love leggings they arrived last night appear to be really good quality and very comfy.

I have my anomaly scan on Friday, next big milestone. If all goes well I think I'll start to look at some bigger purchases like pram car seat etc. 🤞

Congratulations to everyone who have had scans over the past few days 💗💙💛

buttercupbee · 08/03/2023 08:43

@BCxx congrats on your baby girl 💕

@CityKity I’ve put on a stone so far 🙈 mainly due to the amount I’ve been eating and I’ve not felt up to running like I used to. But I did have quite a low BMI before I got pregnant and it’s still in the healthy range so I’m not too worried (yet)!

@sommeliermama I feel the same, 18+3 now and I wish I’d had a scan at 16 weeks as the 12 week scan feels so long ago and 20 weeks is still 2 weeks away. Feel like I’m just plodding along hoping everything is ok in there!

overwork · 08/03/2023 08:44

Ooh @JT2021 where are you going? No tips I'm afraid I flew in January but it was less than 2 hours and we were really early on then.
I think I'll have to join you all and get some loveleggings.I feel like I can barely breathe in my regular bottom half clothes

Recoba · 08/03/2023 11:06

@JT2021 if you can get an aisle seat so you don't feel awkward about getting up to walk up and down the aisles that can be helpful. Lots of water, as you say. I generally found long distance flying to be pretty uncomfortable when pregnant (combination of backache from not moving enough and just limited space, but that was an 11hr flight). Do have a chat to the check in staff and see if there are any cheap upgrades available - lying flat can really help if you can get business class, but even premium economy is a bit more comfortable as you get bigger. Hope you have a great trip!

P1pk · 08/03/2023 11:57

@sommeliermama this is exactly how I feel! I have a bigger belly atm but no shape or anything so I just look a bit chubby. My symptoms are a little better than before but yesterday I had 4 naps throughout the day which wiped me out. I'm 16+4 today and my 20wk scan is in 4 weeks which seems such a long time away.

We've started to tell a few people now which is so lovely as everyone has seemed excited and genuinely happy for us. But because I've not seen baby for a few weeks, less symptoms and no feeling yet I keep thinking am I even pregnant???? I wanted to speak to my husband about it but he will just tell me I'm being silly. Such a minefield atm

AnnieApple123 · 08/03/2023 12:49

Those sound like some great tips from @Recoba there. I was wondering where you’re off to too @JT2021 ?

My thyroid blood results are back and they’re actually very good. I was worried as they’d been steadily increasing but was told they’d likely settle down in the second trimester and indeed they have. So no more appointments until 24 weeks now. Hope all is well for you too @Amme18 .

Is anyone else here mad enough to be interested in placenta encapsulation?

JT2021 · 08/03/2023 13:36

Thanks @Recoba , great tips! I’m off to Dubai for a week - in desperate need of some sunshine and relaxation! I’m flying premium economy, just to have the extra legroom and on the aisle so I’ll be able to wander about. Just need to find a comfortable outfit now.. not sure disney pyjamas will make the cut for the flight 😁

jollydollyirl · 08/03/2023 13:41

Had a quick 16 week scan when I met my consultant at an appointment the other day. DH and I happened to be shopping yesterday and there was a really good offer on a newborn bundle including the Uppababy Vista V2. Long story short, we ended up buying it and taking it home with us and I have such guilt now about doing it before the 20 week scan ahhh!

BusyBushBaby · 08/03/2023 13:43

I'm off on holiday too soon! Tenerife! Not looking to forward to the flight with a toddler in tow but really looking forward to some sunshine!

AnnieApple123 · 08/03/2023 20:24

Dubai and Tenerife both sound fabulous! It’s a great time to escape the cold temps of the UK.

@jollydollyirl I felt the same in my last pregnancy after buying a car seat in the Black Friday sale. DS was due May so it would have been around this same point.

How are the older siblings doing? DS is so bouncy and I’m very conscious that his head is just at the height of my bump. I feel bad that I’m constantly telling him to be careful and/or not get so close to me. He can be very sweet though. Earlier today though he brought me a rectangular brick and held it to the bump saying, ‘This is a biscuit for the baby to try.’

@JT2021 have a fabulous holiday! Even if your appetite isn’t back completely I would recommend taking snacks for the plane as the plane food may not be very appetising. I flew to Japan in January which was 15 hours due to having to avoid flying over Russia and they only served two meals (even in business!) so I was starving and hangry when I got off the plane.

BCxx · 08/03/2023 21:04

thanks all 💕

So jealous of everyone’s holidays! So desperately need some sun 🌞 On the Dubai flight it’s worth asking about an upgrade, we were upgraded for free (pre-kids) on a flight to Dubai. I think we just made out we were asking about extra leg room and suddenly she was upgrading us!

BCxx · 08/03/2023 21:07

After us saying about 4D scans.. I went for my 16 week one and the last time the package said it included a 4D option. I said at the start the last time that I didn’t want to see it. Mainly because I knew the gender, had the name picked from early on and knew I was having a section so felt like his face was the one thing I wanted to leave for the day 🙈 Yesterday we went for the scan and she didn’t ask. It wasn’t included in the package but she just randomly started showing us it in 4D. I felt like I didn’t want to make them feel bad by saying ‘oh no! I don’t want to see that!’ So I just looked at my little boy and spoke to him every time it came up. She must have thought what on earth is this girl doing 😂

thechaneys · 08/03/2023 21:17

make sure you add this to your list to get for just in case, it was a life saver for sleep for us.

DesertSnow · 08/03/2023 22:27

So much to catch up on! Definitely jealous of everyone's hols! I have a bad fear of flying and while I usually force myself, I didn't want to do that while pregnant. Plus I'm hoping to save some annual leave for baby. DH has a couple of trips booked in though. I'll miss him but will be nice to have the bed to myself! 😁

@BCxx Congrats on getting your baby girl confirmed 💗

Every time I start looking at prams etc. I get a bit overwhelmed and decide I'll wait till after the anomaly scan. Good to hear what others are buying though!

Re. weight - I stopped weighing myself when I found out I was pregnant. I can get quite obsessive over my weight and knew it wouldn't be healthy for me to do. I was definitely at the heavier end of my normal range at the time of conceiving though, thanks to the wedding and honeymoon.

So I've felt some strange sensations that I think may be the baby - I don't know what else it could be! Feels so weird but hopefully enough reassurance to get me through to the scan.

UsernameNotPresent · 09/03/2023 06:01

I am doing not too bad re weight this time around, though through no effort of my own. I am still ravenous and eating myself out of the house, but all the running around after toddler, work, house move seem to have kept things fairly stable.

I travel to another city for work once a week, and travel booking office is regularly reserving a priority seat for me when booking tickets.. they don't know I am pregnant! I work for a huge organisation and even despite me telling managers early, I don't put anything on travel request forms re pregnancy. Thankfully my bump is showing now so I feel less like a fraud for sitting in those priority seats, but it's nice to be close to the toilets 😬

BCxx · 09/03/2023 07:26

@DesertSnow thanks ☺️

I’ve felt what I thought was the baby a few times but I’ve now decided it definitely is! Still not turned into proper kicks though, I’m just aware of movement. I can’t wait for the kicks and to be able to feel a little foot or hand through my skin again 😂

VickiGo · 09/03/2023 08:29

Morning all, I've been a bit MIA on this chat but do have a little nose at the messages coming through. Congrats to all that have recently found out the sex, such a magical time. We had a scan the other day and confirmed we're having a boy and there's a good heartbeat so happy with that!

Has anyone got any experience of covid at this stage in pregnancy? Myself and partner tested positive this morning, partner is anxious about me having it even though I've got far more manageable symptoms than he has! Have shown him the Healthier Together app and told my midwife but thought if anyone had any first hand experience I could possibly pass that onto him as well to stop him worrying!

overwork · 09/03/2023 08:57

Hi @VickiGo, no experience at this gestation, but I had Covid in January and flu a few weeks ago, both were same as they had been before pregnancy I think, except that there's less drugs I could take so I felt particularly miserable. I think it also took me more time to get over it, particularly with the flu I tried to go back to work (from home) after a several days off and then had to give up at lunchtime.
Felt a bit silly for not choosing to have my jabs though, I only put off having them as the flu one has always made me feel rough in the past. And then I had to wait 28 days after having Covid... and then I got flu. So I had both last week just before they stop the winter roll out.

Amme18 · 09/03/2023 09:39

@VickiGo not personally but my friend had it first trimester and she did feel quite poorly, and was also struggling with being sick so had to go in for fluids. My sister in law had her baby yesterday and had covid the 5 days leading up to her c section! And her and baby are absolutely fine xxx

BCxx · 09/03/2023 10:41

@VickiGo oh no 😔 it’s just an added worry but I’m sure you’ll be fine. I had it in January too and it didn’t feel any different to a normal flu/illness. I didn’t get the covid jab in pregnancy, my last one was in the summer before we went abroad so I decided not to bother and then since catching it while pregnant and being okay I thought I must surely have some sort of immunity now 🙈 My friend had Covid at 28 weeks and it was similar. I think it is generally more mild now 🤞🏼

CityKity · 09/03/2023 12:15

@VickiGo sorry to hear that both you and DH are down sick! I don’t have any experience having covid during pregnancy, but one of my close friends did at around this stage (this was post jabs but before they were doing boosters) and felt a bit rubbish for about 5 days but recovered quickly and herself and baby were perfect! Just take it super easy and keep hydrated and pop paracetamol when you need it, especially if you start to feel worse.

Interesting hearing how different we all are on the weight gain front. I’m so amazed lots of you haven’t gained a pound! I was a bit worried about not putting on weight and then suddenly gaining 3kgs in the last 3 weeks, but I had my midwife check in today and she reassured me that it was totally normal, especially as I started from low BMI it’s likely I’ll put on more weight than average. I’m at an awkward stage bump wise in that my jeans are too tight by the end of the day, but bump is too small for maternity wear, so getting dressed in the morning is such a palaver of trying a million things on!
Currently 19w2d and got to hear baby’s heart beat today which was such a lovely start to the day! I hope you’re all doing well.

Amme18 · 09/03/2023 14:21

Ahhh my 20 weeks scan has been moved back a day…I’m already so impatient 🤣 I’ll be exactly 21 weeks.
