@CityKity I’m the opposite. Worried as I haven’t put any weight on. Definitely changed shape as jeans won’t fit and zips on the coats won’t do up. But the scales haven’t changed since my booking appointment. I did have a higher BMI pre pregnancy and I think guidance is to put on 15-25lbs if you are overweight over the whole pregnancy.

Spiralout · 07/03/2023 18:02

@LS888 @CityKity I’m keeping an eye as I started with a higher BMI so know the midwife team will be checking I'm not gaining too much. I lost 2lb in the first trimester, now gained that back plus a further 3lb at 18+4.

Narwhal88 · 07/03/2023 18:23

@CityKity I have the problem in that I haven't weighed myself since June so don't really know what I was pre pregnancy. I definitely feel like I've put weight on and it's freaking me out. I had put weight on since June anyway though I think as a consequence of IVF. I'm only 5ft so a little bit looks a lot!

@MinnieFirstTimeMum thanks for sharing! I have H&M maternity jeans but they are way too long and also the knees don't go in at the right place so they don't look the best!

ChloeN · 07/03/2023 19:11

Can’t remember if anyone has asked/said this before, but does anyone else get restless, almost like numb and heavy legs in the night?

Createcomet · 07/03/2023 19:16

@unluckyinlife sorry you're having such a rubbish day! I hope you start to feel better soon! It's definitely not your fault, growing humans is really hard work!!!! I bet so many of us can relate to how you're feeling.

My nausea has begun to ease now at 17 weeks I think, but its still there. I am also incredibly tired, its really getting to me. I need 9-10 hours sleep a night to even barely function and I'm so de motivated and tired on the days I'm at work (and every day that I'm home with my 2 year old tbh!) I honestly feel like I've been in survival mode this entire pregnancy. I'm finding it so hard to make decisions etc at work and also finding I'm getting overwhelmed really easily. Even had to finally stop my toddlers swimming lessons at the end of this month, because im just finding them too much to deal with alone, the heat of the pool and low BP isn't mixing well 🙄 You're not alone, it's super tough! But hang on in there we're gonna get through it.

Yes!!! Constant pins & needles In hands and feet

overwork · 07/03/2023 19:34

I'm keeping an eye on my weight too. Certainly not keeping to any diet but I am trying to make sure I eat a good variety of foods to keep us both healthy, and going easy on the sugar which is a shame because I seem to really want it!
My belly is massive but I don't appear to have put much on so I'm a bit confused! I also started off with a higher BMI and I'm lazy with loosing weight, I think if I don't keep a check on it now, I know I won't make the effort to loose it at the other end and then I'll be in a pickle!
Doesn't help that I can't even move as much as the little I did before because of this silly knee injury.

ChloeN · 07/03/2023 19:44

@newmummie Glad im not alone! It’s gotten worse the past few nights it keeps waking me up 🤦🏻‍♀️

Owlgirl14 · 07/03/2023 20:20

@ChloeN Yes I seem to get restless legs about an hour before bed. And I've been getting more pins and needles than usual if laying on my arm. I was also laying on my back the other night and got cramp in my foot.

ChloeN · 07/03/2023 20:21

@Owlgirl14 I wonder what causes it🤔 it’s so odd!

sommeliermama · 07/03/2023 20:27

@LS888 I'm in the same boat, haven't gained any weight yet but my tummy is bigger and hardly any of my normal clothes fit! I have a BMI of 27. My eating habits haven't really changed since becoming pregnant though, I normally eat a lot and I still am.

I guess it's still early days at 16 weeks though

Owlgirl14 · 07/03/2023 21:45

@ChloeN I'm not really sure, I had it before being pregnant though. I just get fidgeting when set on the sofa but seem to be fine once I go to bed x

Owlgirl14 · 07/03/2023 21:45

Does anyone know of any good maternity pay calculators if you get enhanced pay?

BCxx · 07/03/2023 21:52

@ChloeN I got really bad cramps in my legs/feet in the second half of my pregnancy last time, haven’t had it yet though 🤞🏼

@CityKity I am eating on the hour every hour. Honestly can’t stop! I had lost loads of weight and I feel like I’m just piling it all back on now for no reason other than I can’t stop stuffing my face 🙈 I haven’t weighed myself.. I didn’t last time either and I didn’t look when the midwife did. I only weighed myself the night before my section so I could have a comparison of how much id lost and it did ‘fall’ off really quite quick because suddenly I had a baby taking up my two hands and couldn’t eat biscuits 😂

BCxx · 07/03/2023 21:54

Had my gender scan today and it was confirmed that it’s definitely a girl! 💕 I didn’t tell them I already knew just in case it swayed their judgement so we just had to do a fake shocked reaction 🤣 so pleased everything is okay. 20 week scan feels like the last big hurdle now

ChloeN · 07/03/2023 21:56

@BCxx ahh I’m glad you got it confirmed ☺️ bet you were like omg no idea we thought it was a boy 🫣🤣

sommeliermama · 07/03/2023 21:59

Definitely feel like I'm in that limbo between the 12 week and 20 week scans! (I'm 16+4). So I've booked a private scan for this weekend. I just can't wait until next month. Anyone else feeling this impatient?

BCxx · 07/03/2023 22:22

@ChloeN ’oh do you have a feeling what it is?’ I just said I was sure it was a boy the last time and was right but wasn’t sure this time 🙈 not sure what I was going to say if they’d said boy 😂 I would of been so confused

BCxx · 07/03/2023 22:25

@sommeliermama I think this is such a weird bit. I had my 16 week midwife appointment today and was saying that to her. You can’t feel them kick to get reassurance from that like you can after 20 weeks and you start to feel better then you’re just floating along hoping everything’s fine! I was glad I’d booked the gender one, more just to see the baby again and to break up this time

Amme18 · 07/03/2023 22:58

@LS888 @Spiralout im also on the higher BMI…and got a call off a midwife today to ask if I wanted free slimming world 😐 honestly felt like telling her where to go…felt very insensitive to make a specific unplanned phonecall for it. Informed her I’ve gained 2lb so far so I’m not concerned and have struggled to eat as is so no thank you I don’t want to diet 🙄

Spiralout · 08/03/2023 06:23

@Amme18 wow, I’m so sorry you had that call, that is really out of order. I’m sure the NHS advice is not to diet during pregnancy even if BMK starts high, it’s all focused on not gaining as much. If it happens again I would’ve seriously considering complaining.

BusyBushBaby · 08/03/2023 07:08

@MinnieFirstTimeMum I'm not petite but I have some maternity leggings from love leggings and they seem good quality!

@CityKity I'm keeping an eye on my weight as I gained loads with my last pregnancy but I seem to have very little control! I lost 1kg in the first trimester but have since oute that back on plus another 4kg!

@ChloeN I get restless legs too, I find stretching and massaging them before bed helps a lot.

@BCxx Congratulations on your definitely girl!

LS888 · 08/03/2023 07:42

@Amme18 wow! Can’t believe the cheek of some people!

AnnieApple123 · 08/03/2023 07:59

@Amme18 I can’t believe the cheek of that person either. Hope your blood test went OK. I’ve not had my results yet. Should get them today. If they’re ‘bad,’ I’ll likely have to see the obstetrician tomorrow. Not that it really matters though as ‘bad’ would just mean an increase in thyroxine which is not actually a big deal.

@ChloeN I’ve had restless legs in both pregnancy. There’s a theory that low magnesium levels can contribute to it but I’ve been taking magnesium supplements for a while and am not sure how much difference they’ve made (if any!). There’s also magnesium cream you can rub directly into your legs.

Morning all! Thanks everyone for being reassuring about my fall earlier in the week - all seems to be okay thankfully.

Talking about weight, I started with a higher BMI and I’ve lost 10lbs from my booking appt weight because nausea has totally wiped out my appetite. Even now at 18 weeks, my appetite still isn’t fully back. I’m not losing any more currently but also not gaining… from my scans baby is looking healthy so I’m not too worried but will chat to the midwife next time I see her.

I am due to go on holiday in 2 weeks time… apart from wearing compression socks, keeping hydrated and walking about on the plane, has anyone else got any tips about flying at 20 weeks?! It’s a 7 hour flight, need to work out what to wear also! Any tips would be so welcomed!
