@buttercupbee yes, that sounds exactly like me! Sorry you're feeling similar anxieties, but also reassuring in a way that I'm not alone. My 20 week scan was meant to be next week but DH is away so it's not till the week after. Counting down the days. When is yours?

JT2021 · 06/03/2023 09:22

Hi all! Had a bit of a scare last night - I slipped over and fell on my bum (very thankful to have a big bum so lots of cushion!) and just feel really panicked that I’ve hurt the baby now. Haven’t experienced any bleeding so far luckily but just a bit unsure on what to do. I’ve got my whooping cough jab today with the nurse - do you think I should mention to her? I’m not due to see the midwife again for another week and a half so just a bit unsure being a FTM.

buttercupbee · 06/03/2023 10:25

@DesertSnow you’re definitely not alone, I hope we both start to feel movement soon so we can relax a bit! I always thought being pregnant would be such an exciting time, which it is, but I never expected to be so anxious about it either. I’m normally a pretty laid back person, but I think when you want something so badly and feel lucky to have got it, it’s hard not to worry it will be taken away. Mine is the week after next too and I’m also counting down the days!

newmummie · 06/03/2023 11:10

My tummy was twitching on and off this morning, wonder is it baby 🥰 although only 17+1 so probably not & first baby

BCxx · 06/03/2023 11:33

@Narwhal88 congratulations! 💖

@DesertSnow oh I forgot how annoying it was when people used to ask ‘have you felt it?’ eventually when I had the last time I was so glad to be like yes!! Between asking things like that and then when it’s born all you get is ‘can they crawl? Can they walk? Are they saying much?’. It’s just something to say I think when they ask how old they are but I felt like all it did for me was make me stressed that he wasn’t doing certain things 🙈 or was but only slightly!

I think I felt him kick some time around the 19th week but it was just one big kick and my husband could feel it on the outside. I’m guessing it was maybe from something sugary I’d ate that night. Then I felt nothing at all again for about another 2 weeks and was then panicking about that. I’m only 16 weeks today but have definitely been aware of some sort of movement in there this time. I think only because I know this time what it feels like when it does happen though and it’s just the same as the kind of bubbly feeling you get at random times when not pregnant

@JT2021 youre probably fine but doesn’t do any harm to mention it. You aren’t rhesus negative blood type anyway are you?

BCxx · 06/03/2023 11:36

Also I’m only 16 weeks so a lot of you are a few weeks ahead but how utterly mind blowing is it that 24 weeks is the sort of line of, could be okay if born early. That just blows my mind that in 8 weeks time this baby could be born and be fine! Obviously you hope that doesn’t happen but it just shows how much our body has been doing in that amount of time that has passed. My friend’s little girl arrived at 26 weeks and is completely fine now but it’s just insane how early she came now I’m getting back to the half way mark again this time

P1pk · 06/03/2023 12:09

Thank you @ChloeN @Narwhal88 @Spiralout I think I will go to the pharmacy at lunch and ask if they recommend anything

@DesertSnow don't feel alone! I'm 16+2 today and I already feel anxious I've not felt baby move! I know its silly but others have said they felt baby at 16wks and now this is something new to play on my mind!!

@JT2021 how are you feeling? Hope not bruised? If you feel unwell speak to doctor or midwife. It's so scary at this time, everything is worrying me

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 06/03/2023 13:20

@DesertSnow you are definitely not alone. To be honest I don't feel pregnant at all now! Which is bizarre, I always thought you would feel it somehow. But I never had nausea, and the bloat I had in the trimester has gone a little, energy levels came back, iron and blood pressure has sorted itself out, so I feel 'normal'. One on hand I'm like it is such a blessing that I feel okay compared to others but then I kind of want to feel something for reassurance... what a minefield x

AnnieApple123 · 06/03/2023 14:27

Welcome @ropo34 !

Goodness @BCxx it feels like you only just started with the therapist. How many sessions did you have overall? I’ve been looking into seeing someone new as the lady I have is more just a listener and I’d really like some strategies for reframing things. Finding a good fit feels like such a minefield though.

@P1pk I was really keen to meet other pregnant ladies last time too. It took a while though. I started Daisy classes at 20 weeks but found they weren’t very conducive to making friends, disappointingly. There wasn’t any sort of break to chat and people tended to leave right after. Hopefully your class is better.

AnnieApple123 · 06/03/2023 14:28

All those not feeling anything yet, honestly it’s very early. They say up to 24 weeks is normal. I definitely wasn’t feeling anything by this point last time and don’t think I am yet this time either.

AnnieApple123 · 06/03/2023 14:33

@BCxx Grrrr, yes other people’s comments again! The question of ‘what date exactly in August?’ is starting to bug me now too. I’ve starting responding with, ‘Ha well, they say less than 4% of babies arrive on their due dates, so…’. I’m probably more likely to be July as I’m right on the cusp and was early last time. I’m telling people August though to avoid even more annoying questions when the time comes.

OP posts:
DesertSnow · 06/03/2023 14:43

Thank you for the solidary ladies, it's really helpful to feel less alone with the anxieties of pregnancy ❤️ It really is a minefield.

Hope you're ok and resting @JT2021 but do speak to midwife if you're worried.

@AnnieApple123 Yes, why do people need to the exact due date? I just say 'end of July/early August' but people seem really obsessed with knowing the exact date. Which as we know is kind of meaningless as so few babies come on their due date!

allgoodthings84 · 06/03/2023 14:58

@DesertSnow I’m exactly the same. only 15+2 weeks but I don’t even have a bump and it’s not my first baby! My symptoms are all gone now too. I know realistically everything is probably fine but after having a bit of brown blood for 5 days a couple weeks ago and 2 previous miscarriages I just wish there was something to show I’m still pregnant.

@JT2021 I fell over outside when 38 weeks pregnant with my daughter and rang EPU and they said as long as you haven’t landed on the bump it’s fine and they didn’t want to check anything

BCxx · 06/03/2023 18:35

@AnnieApple123 yeah I feel like the exact date isn’t people’s business and as it gets closer people NEED to know what date it is and you start getting the ‘how are you?’ texts out the woodwork from people who haven’t bothered to ask for the last 9 months. I feel like because everyone will know I’m having a section this time they’ll be able to work out when it will be or within a few days of when it will be so I’m trying to leave it as vague as possible 🙄 wishing I’d said September to people!

overwork · 06/03/2023 19:32

Haha, I'll be telling people my due date is end of the summer and keeping it vague, I'd find texts asking if there's any sign of a baby yet too intrusive.

I have 2 actual friends due either side of me, though one is having twins so I suspect both will arrive before mine. Which is really lovely, I feel less pressure to go and make new mum friends now. Still haven't told them I'm pregnant too though, waiting till after the 20 week scan.

Congratulations on your baby girl and also loving that some of you have names, we've not even touched on that topic yet!

BCxx · 06/03/2023 20:04

@overwork aww that will be nice 😊 I was lucky to have friends who had a baby at the same time as me last time and again will have this time. They’ll be so excited when you tell them! I feel like I then just didn’t really try to make mum friends which is a shame 🙈 i don’t think I’m the type who could go to classes alone and start chatting to people so I was glad I had them!

ChloeN · 06/03/2023 20:15

I have absolutely no mum friends except my family whose babies are more toddlers now, I’m defo going to baby sensory to make some friends lol🤣🤣

MartaEly · 06/03/2023 20:46

Hi all! It's my first post here :) I'm due on the 19th August with my very first baby and feeling so many things: happiness, excitement, anxiety, worries, sickness, nausea, dizziness, so it feels like a lot to take on. It's my 16th week and I am still waiting for the magical promised "symptoms should ease off after the first trimester" 😅

I've read a lot of posts from all of you across this chat and immediately felt like I'm not alone 🤗

Grateful to join this community and wishing everyone a lovely everning!

AnnieApple123 · 06/03/2023 21:51

@DesertSnow Yes definitely good to know we’re not alone with all these things!

@BCxx and @overwork I was due in May last time and seriously told everyone June. It worked well.

Welcome @MartaEly ! Glad you’re feeling the benefits of the community already.

I had my latest set of thyroid blood tests today (done every 4 weeks until at least 28 weeks). Until now they’ve always been followed right away by a review appointment but not this time, unless the results turn out to be dire. I actually have a suspicion they may be! Hopefully I’ll find out tomorrow or latest Wednesday either way.

BCxx · 06/03/2023 22:40

@AnnieApple123 honestly Ive missed a trick there, genius!

@MartaEly welcome, strap yourself in! I’m 16 weeks too and have just started to feel ‘normal’ again this week! Although still eating myself out of house and home just in case I might possibly feel sick 🙈

Amme18 · 07/03/2023 07:41

@AnnieApple123 ive got my thyroid blood tests today, if still “undetectable” TSH need to go under endocrinology at the hospital. If low like it was pre pregnancy will just be the normal monitor but 6 weekly not monthly. I’ve only been classed as sub clinical hyperthyroidism up to yet (so no meds, can correct itself at any time although it’s been since oct 2021). I need a repeat of another test to do with it too - think seeing if it’s some underlying cause like Graves’ disease? Although no symptoms for this!

Createcomet · 07/03/2023 08:08

@MartaEly welcome! Glad you're finding a benefit from being here already! Pregnancy is such a weird time, it's good to have other people going through the same things as you.

I'm 17 weeks and still not feeling great either. It definitely eased sooner than this last time! I'm feeling a little less sick which is a relief. But I'm soooooo tired all the time! The tiredness just doesn't seem to lift, I feel so lazy 🤣

unluckyinlife · 07/03/2023 14:37

I'm having such a bleurgh day today. I can't seem to concentrate on work and feel really nauseous which is the first time this pregnancy!

I also seem to have an insatiable Appetite and have done since yesterday, not sure if baby is going through a growth spurt or something.

I have a school run in 30 minutes and will now need to work late to prepare for tomorrow's meetings and its nobody's fault but my own!

How is everything for everyone else today? Anyone else feeling lack of motivation this week?
I'm currently 15 +4 so thankful I got this far without feeling like this so far! Xx

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 07/03/2023 14:43

I know there was one talk on here before about petite maternity wear, I've finally managed to find some trousers so thought I would share for all of my other petite ladies out there 😂💕

CityKity · 07/03/2023 15:04

@unluckyinlife I think most of my January can be described as lacking motivation! I spent so many evenings working because I just could snap into it in the day.

I’m 19 weeks today and from week 16 was definitely when a growth spurt happened for me. I even couldn’t sleep one time because I was feeling ab pain from the stretching! The last three weeks I’ve been eating like a horse. Maybe a taboo/triggering topic but is anyone keeping half an eye on weight gain? I was originally weighing myself to check that I was recovering the weight lost during the first trimester, and now I’ve realised I’ve gained a kilo a week for the last 3 weeks (weeks 16-19) 😱😱 I hope I don’t keep up this pace for the next 21 weeks 😅
