@AnnieApple123 I fully understand what you mean by keeping busy to keep your mind off things. I have always had a complicated pregnancy plagued with all sorts of problems and this time round it seems to be smooth sailing (ignoring the coil issue and my folic acid problem).

I keep telling my husband I'm waiting until my luck changes, and it's making me so anxious.

I'm grateful my work and getting it prepared for maternity keeps me busy. But at weekends usually my husband and I just relax with the kids.

The buying process with the house and decluttering and packing is keeping us busy.

We're very mindful that until we exchange it could fall through so we are clearing our little used spaces.

This weekend we've managed to clear the front and back garden and the conservatory with two dump runs and a trip to the office as well.

I am well and truly exhausted but thankful for the distraction! X

@MinnieFirstTimeMum tenerife.. I think the Canary Islands are about the only warm option at that time of year, without going too far afield. I’m slightly dreading the longer flight with my toddler though, I think the baby will sleep most of it at that age🤞🏼 We’d usually go to Majorca or menorca and a quick 2 hour flight the last time even felt like it was going in slow motion 😂

ChloeN · 05/03/2023 13:55

@BCxx weve been talking about Tenerife in December too! I won’t have chance to go before baby comes so looks like I’ll be going when they’re born too🤣

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 05/03/2023 14:05

Group meet up in Tenerife it is then 😂

BCxx · 05/03/2023 14:19

@ChloeN @MinnieFirstTimeMum haha august due date Tenerife reunion 🤣 I always think January 1st is the best day to go on holiday but to go then or be away for new year is so expensive! I’ve gone for the start of December so that il be back in time to still do Christmas things. The fact you have to pay full price for kids when they’re 2 has been a shock to the system but I managed to find a really nice hotel with a free child place. Itl be when they’re both over 2 that it becomes extortionate.. but I’ve seen that it’s one free child per two paying adults so il rope in my parents or sister to come along and put one of them on their booking 😂

ChloeN · 05/03/2023 14:32

@BCxx @MinnieFirstTimeMum imagine 🤣 I was thinking about going in between Christmas and new year but didn’t think about it then being school holidays 🤦🏻‍♀️

BCxx · 05/03/2023 14:55

@ChloeN yeah it’s a fortune then! I don’t double you could probably get somewhere at a decent deal but every hotel I looked at just shot up in price then. I feel like I won’t feel as jealous of everyone’s holidays in the summer while I’m sat at home if I know I have one booked just a few months after baby is due

BusyBushBaby · 05/03/2023 15:40

@AnnieApple123 I'm sorry your in laws aren't able to be supportive of you.

I'm in the weird (for me) position of being the person with an ongoing priority while a couple of mum friends lost theirs. It's always been the other way around before. I'm trying to keep pregnancy updates to a minimum and mostly chat about our older kids, who are all close in age.

AnnieApple123 · 05/03/2023 19:43

Tenerife sounds fabulous!!

Glad you’ve been managing to keep busy @UsernameNotPresent and that that’s been a good strategy for you too. Interesting that you also find weekends the hardest. This one has been much better for me than last. Household stuff is definitely a great distraction. I’ve started nesting and have been through all DS’s clothes today plus made a start on toys too. Still got loads to do though…

Not huge purchases but I’ve ordered a new changing mat and new sun-blinds for the car as our original ones fell apart.

Amme18 · 05/03/2023 19:51

@AnnieApple123 i wasn’t sure if it was too early to be nesting but this week I’ve painted my bedroom, cleared out my wardrobe, and just generally blitzed the whole house. It’s the most productive I’ve been in months!

somuchtolearnabout · 05/03/2023 20:12

@BCxx We are going to Greece for a week in the last week of June 😂 I'll be 34 weeks pregnant with a 4yo and a 2yo. Luckily there's a really great kids club there so lord knows I'll be making FULL USE of that

AnnieApple123 · 05/03/2023 20:27

That sounds Iike loads @Amme18 . Well done! I’ve got very into now and am genuinely looking forward to doing more this week…

@BCxx How are you getting on with the very expensive therapist?

ropo34 · 05/03/2023 20:36

Hey fellow august mummas! I’m due 27th August :-)

BCxx · 05/03/2023 20:49

@somuchtolearnabout haha absolutely! Get yourself plonked on a sun lounger with a book 😂

BCxx · 05/03/2023 20:51

@AnnieApple123 ive came to the end of my block so I’m finished for now, unless I want any one off sessions. I actually thought it was a bit of a waste of money at the time but have noticed I’ve been way less anxious in situations that I’d usually find really bad so I think he might have flipped a switch in my brain somewhere 🙈

BCxx · 05/03/2023 20:52

Anyone else got scans this week?

I have my gender scan eventually, although 99% sure from the blood test it’s a girl but you never know!

Narwhal88 · 05/03/2023 22:05

Hi all
I had a scan this weekend and found out we are having a baby girl 💕💕 was quite shocked as just expected it to be a boy for some reason 😂

P1pk · 05/03/2023 23:42

@Narwhal88 congratulations!!!

@AnnieApple123 aquanatal has been good, but tiring and by the time I get home I'm ready for bed. Unfortunately there is not many spaces in classes so I won't be going this week. There aren't many other classes available here in person. I would like to start meeting pregnant women now, so hard only speaking to hubby who doesn't really get what I'm saying most of the time.

Anyone have advice - I have a bit of a dry throat and have started coughing too. Should I make a doctor appt or is it OK to see the pharmacist for advice on what to take? I've tried hot water with honey all weekend and it's not helped at all

UsernameNotPresent · 05/03/2023 23:43

@Narwhal88 congratulations! Fab news! 💓 do you have the names shortlisted for a girl?

Speaking of big purchases/decisions, I've already put my cooking baba in the queue for nursery when I come back after a year of mat leave. I had to put his name on the form, and it's the first time we used his name on something formal! Good thing we managed to agree on one fairly early 😬 It all suddenly feels very real.

Spiralout · 06/03/2023 06:28

@P1pk I was a bit sniffly due to tree pollen and asked my midwife at 16 week appointment and she said to speak to a pharmacist about what over the counter medicine you can take while pregnant. They were really helpful.

Narwhal88 · 06/03/2023 08:10

@P1pk thank you. I wish I had aquanatal in my area. I would ask a pharmacist, they know much more about medicines than doctors!

@UsernameNotPresent thanks! We had a few girls names we matched on that app but nothing concrete yet! Oh wow that is very forward planning, does the nursery have a long wait list?

ChloeN · 06/03/2023 08:31

@P1pk I had an awful cough, I rang the drs after a week or 2 of it, they couldn’t get me in so told me to see the pharmacist. I just got an over the counter cough medicine, I don’t think there’s much else you can take!

Mulner88 · 06/03/2023 08:43

@Narwhal88 @UsernameNotPresent we also added our baby to waiting list for nursery. We wanted to get our favourite and more convenient one in the area. They already have names and starting to book up for Sep 2024, my may leave will end in July/Aug and so we put our name for July and they said it's not guaranteed but hopefully we should get a place 🙈 on the form, we just put TBC for the name 😂 I think it's dependent on area re waiting lists...we're going to view another one in a couple weeks maybe as a back up. There was a nursery highly rated beside my husbands work that when we tried to view it they said they were already booked up for 2024 so they didn't even offer us to view 🙈

DesertSnow · 06/03/2023 08:53

Hi all, hope everyone's doing ok. I've just skimmed through the messages this morning - welcome to the newcomers and congrats to those of you who've found out the gender - I've made a note so can update the list in due course.

I know I shouldn't be, but I can't help feeling anxious that I've not felt baby yet. I'm 19+2. Don't know placenta position. I'm trying to reassure myself with the fact that my bump is growing and definitely still have pregnancy symptoms (hello weird dreams/exhaustion/evening nausea). But still can't help but worry, and it doesn't help that relatives and friends keep asking if I've felt anything yet.

buttercupbee · 06/03/2023 09:05

@DesertSnow I feel the same, I’m 18+1 now and still haven’t felt anything. It doesn’t help that we didn’t hear the heartbeat at my 16 week appointment either and the 12 week scan feels like such a long time ago now! Everyone around me is so excited and I just have this sinking feeling something is wrong. I’m just trying to tell myself I have no reason to think baby isn’t ok, I’ve not had any bleeding or anything and bump is getting bigger, so the chances are everything will be fine. But you’re definitely not alone in your worries. Do you have long to wait until your 20 week scan?
