Hi all! 😊

I got my bfp yesterday and although it's super early days (I'm only 12dpo), from looking at the NHS pregnancy calculator, I'd be due 2nd November...
Just thought I'd make this thread for anyone who has recently got their bfps and are due in November-time!

I thought we could use it to discuss how we are feeling, any symptoms/lack of symptoms we have etc. and just a safe place for a chat with people in the same boat!

Congratulations to everyone who have got their bfps and sending lots of sticky baby dust to all! 🤞✨💕

What's everyone's opinion on getting an early scan at 6/7 weeks?

One part of me is still in disbelief a little about even being pregnant despite doing a bunch of tests that were instantly positive so feel it could be useful for reassurance, however another part of me is terrified that the scan will show something worrying/no heartbeart (which at 6 weeks does not mean that something is necessarily wrong!)

luckwhy · 17/03/2023 20:47

@Fox01 yeah my first! First pregnancy. What about you? Im managing to eat because it’s the only time I don’t have the taste in my mouth 🤣 strangest feeling ever!

LotzW · 17/03/2023 20:48

@medicmumma I'm having one on Monday. By my dates I'll be 7+2 so hope they're accurate so it doesn't add rather than take away stress 😬

Mummytobe2023 · 17/03/2023 20:56

@medicmumma I am literally sitting googling scans now! I’d like to get one as soon as I can but holding off until I will be 6+6 I think so as @LotzW says it doesn’t add to the stress!

Fox01 · 17/03/2023 20:56

@luckwhy yes my first. I only get the metallic within mins of waking up/getting up and sometimes through the day when I feel tired. I ate some mint chocolate and couldn't even taste the mint and I love mint! So weird isn't it. I'm glad I'm not the only one ☺.

@medicmumma go for it if you want! I was tempted to go for a 6wk scan but due to being ivf I get a 7wk scan if still positive on Sunday. I have been debating because my progesterone will prevent most bleeding so if I knew it wasn't viable I could stop it, bleed and move onto the next cycle. The other part of me just wants to enjoy it and save the money for the sake of a week. It's £90 and a 1.5hr travel for me to get a private scan before nhs one. It's also £86 for 1 beta!! Mental. Money making from the get go.

You do what you feel is best! My own opinion changes daily 😂

Mldn · 17/03/2023 21:22

Congrats to all new joiners - I’m 7 weeks today & trying to hold off as long as poss before I get a scan! Only because I don’t want to get one & all seem well, for things to maybe go wrong in the following weeks before my 12 week NHS scan & me to potentially be none the wiser ! The wait is torture though. Every day is soooo long! And now the nausea is here with full force.. which is very unenjoyable, but makes me “feel pregnant”, along with the constant exhaustion & super heavy boobs!

38andtrying · 17/03/2023 21:45

@medicmumma I am going for a scan next week and I'll be just 7 weeks, I went for scan last time at 8 weeks and discovered a missed miscarriage, i now wouldn't not go for an early scan because of that, if something is wrong I want to know sooner rather than later and if everything is OK its great to get the reassurance. If you can afford it I say go for it.

Mldn · 17/03/2023 22:08

@38andtrying sorry to hear about your previous loss. I think that was what I was trying to say in my previous post, too worried about going too early, incase something happens a week later & I don’t find that out until my 12 week scan. If that makes sense! I guess there’s no best time to go, the anxiety really is so crippling isn’t it. I will try and hold off until 8/9 weeks I think x

38andtrying · 17/03/2023 22:40

@Mldn yes I think 8 weeks is a good time, if my scan at 7 weeks goes OK fingers crossed I'll probably go again at 9, I have a medichecks blood test here aswell to go as well which I might use about 8 weeks to check hcg levels if i get that far, I'm so nervous something is going to wrong this time again.

Wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy x

Psqueak87 · 18/03/2023 00:08

I am 6+6 today, still no symptoms other than extreme fatigue. Went for my first scan, I was honestly so shocked when they actually found a baby on the screen and it had a heartbeat: I was really doubting any of it was real until then. They said they don’t date the baby under 8 weeks so booked me in for another in 10 days. They said it was .72cm though which is so tiny, I can’t imagine it.
luckily my doctor is pushing early scans because I’m 35.

TTCJJB · 18/03/2023 05:18

Absolutely thrilled to join this thread, I'm 3+5 and should be due around the 28th November.
This is our first pregnancy.

Travellingislife · 18/03/2023 05:26

@Fairylight102 nice to see you in this group! Congratulations 😊

@medicmumma For me it’s reassuring going for an early scan but I know it can add worry, I went for a scan at 6 weeks on Tuesday and saw a heartbeat, it was amazing! I’ll go again at 8 weeks as that’s what my fertility specialist is recommending. Apparently a “ managed” pregnancy has higher chance of a positive outcome and I also rather know sooner rather than later if something is wrong. I would maybe go at 7 weeks, if you can hold off for that long, as you should be able to see a heartbeat for sure then.

I had an early scan with the pregnancy I lost in December and it showed nothing at 6 weeks, ( blighted ovum I think) I knew then something wasn’t right and prepared for a loss. It was a horrible waiting game though, I couldn’t get scanned or do bloods as I was abroad over Christmas and then went abroad straight after with work. When I started bleeding I was away on a work trip but I was mentally prepared and coped better than if I hadn’t known and just started bleeding.

hopeandpray1988 · 18/03/2023 06:31

@Fairylight102 congratulations! I'm due around the 24th 🙂 hope you're feeling ok at the moment and sickness or anything hasn't kicked in?

@TTCJJB congrats! Great line on your test!

@EBeans wow twins! That's so exciting! I bet it was a real shock!!

@Mummytobe2023 it's nice to see the 3+ on a test though isn't it - makes you feel like you're progressing well 🙂

@medicmumma I had an early scan at the epu with my first as I was bleeding but it made me feel reassured that I was ok and I felt more positive going to the 12 week scan. I'll be booking a private early scan this time to relieve some anxiety

TTCJJB · 18/03/2023 08:08

Has anyone got a link for the Facebook group?

Fairylight102 · 18/03/2023 09:13

@Travellingislife You too, I remember you from other threads! How are you?

@hopeandpray1988 Oh amazing we’re wishing a day or so of each other then! I’ve experienced a little bit of nausea, but just a sensation, not enough to actually make me sick. The other thing I’ve noticed is a hyper aware sense of smell so the other day I walked past a coffee shop and I felt like the smell was hitting me in the face (whereas I pass it every day on my way to work and never noticed before). Tbh though it’s hard to say whether these symptoms are real or I’m imagining them because they’re the same as my previous (miscarried) pregnancy. How are you doing?

hopeandpray1988 · 18/03/2023 09:25

@Fairylight102 I'm feeling the same as I did with my DS, just tired at the moment. Luckily last time I didn't really get any morning sickness or anything so I'm hoping for the same this time 🤞🏻sometimes I wish I had some other symptoms so I felt pregnant 😂🙈 xx

MeganC104 · 18/03/2023 09:37

Congratulations to the new people here; can't believe everyone having a baby Nov 2023 is now pregnant 😁 I spent the morning wrapped around a toilet. Anyone else? 🤣

Blondie1024 · 18/03/2023 09:56

@Psqueak87 I'm another with little to no symptoms but I'm 2 weeks behind you. I very much don't feel pregnant and worry it's all in my head lol. Im also 35 but having my 3rd.

Travellingislife · 18/03/2023 10:04

@Fairylight102 I feel quite nauseous and tired in the evenings, also very fatigued when exercising. I had nothing like this with my son, I only felt slightly nauseous around week 8-9 but nothing else. I hope the nausea won’t get any worse but I bet it will since I’m only 6 weeks! I don’t want to eat but I feel hungry strangely enough, and I feel better when I do eat, so I’m snacking all the time, lots of bread and cheese.. I’m not one of those ladies loosing weight in the first trimester 😅
I’m quite anxious because of my loss in December but I’m trying to push it aside and just focus on that “I’m pregnant at this moment in time” and I’m enjoying that.
How are you feeling?

Fox01 · 18/03/2023 10:18

@Travellingislife how long did it take you to bleed after your mmc? Did you have to take any meds to enduce it and was that cycle a lot longer?

I am 14dp5dt today and my tests are pretty much the exact same darkness as 9dp5dt so I have a feeling it will be a chemical pregnancy. I don't get a scan until 7 wks but unsure of the time line after the scan confirms things? Im ivf so I know they want the bleed and another natural cycle before FET but don't know how long all will be? Were your cycles regular or a lot longer?

Travellingislife · 18/03/2023 10:31

@Fox01 Hopefully it’ll all turn out well for you, I’ve read about lots of ladies having the same colour tests for weeks but they had successful pregnancies.
I had my scan on the 19th, felt that I “ lost “ my pregnancy ( I think my body realised it was nothing there) on the 22nd and I passed everything on the 31st, I started spotting on the 29th but the main bleed was on the 31st, then I stopped bleeding 6 days later. It was only like a heavy period on one day, I took paracetamol and ibuprofen, it was manageable. I got a negative hcg 2 weeks after the main bleed and my first cycle afterwards was 32 days, normally 26-28.

I’ve got my fingers crossed for you!

38andtrying · 18/03/2023 10:35

Woke up this morning full of worry, I'm six Weeks tomorrow and it was around this time before that my last pregnancy stopped progressing, I wouldn't find out for 2 weeks later. My anxiety is through the roof and I'm super aware or symptoms now. I had heart palpations this last few days which have now ceased which is worrying me. Don't know why im writing this, think I just need to vent, pregnancy after miscarriage is super worrying, I really hope it works this time. I have a scan next Saturday, a full week to wait now feels like an eternity, in one way I want time to speed up but in another i don't want it to ever come incase its bad news.

All i can think is I'm pregnant today shr ve grateful and worry about tomorrow tomorrow, easier said than done.

1sttimemummy2022 · 18/03/2023 10:58

Has anyone had any experience with empty sac? Just had an appt at EPU for cramping and slight spotting and showed an empty sac. Not sure what to think really 🤨

Myperfectchaos · 18/03/2023 11:23

@1sttimemummy2022 how far along are you? With my previous son I had an empty sac like shape but not measurable at 5 weeks and the doc told me it was likely to be a loss. 2 weeks later we saw a sac, baby and heart beat!

I am going for a private early scan on Monday to ease my mind a little I will be 6 weeks 3 days so hoping to see something

Fox01 · 18/03/2023 11:44

@Travellingislife thank you very much for that info. On lead up to ivf my cycles were all over the place so I worry that my cycle will be super long. I hate having to wait to get pregnant. It sounds so silly but it's just a lot emotionally seeing everyone else get it so quickly and easily.

I can't find anyone with tests like mine that hasn't ended in some sort of mc. Just hoping for a miracle. As I have done every other month. Silly of me to think this would be so easy!

@1sttimemummy2022 my friend had her 7wk scan and it was that. Blighted ovum I think they called it. She had to wait to see if she naturally passed it which didn't happen but then had drugs to pass it. Hopefully it is not the case in your situation. If they scan early (around 5 wks) then it might not be able to show the embryo yet
