Hi all! 😊

I got my bfp yesterday and although it's super early days (I'm only 12dpo), from looking at the NHS pregnancy calculator, I'd be due 2nd November...
Just thought I'd make this thread for anyone who has recently got their bfps and are due in November-time!

I thought we could use it to discuss how we are feeling, any symptoms/lack of symptoms we have etc. and just a safe place for a chat with people in the same boat!

Congratulations to everyone who have got their bfps and sending lots of sticky baby dust to all! 🤞✨💕

Does anyone else find it odd that you don't goto your gp to have it confirmed, you just fill a form in online, then at 8 weeks (think it'll actually be 9 for me) you go see a midwife. It's making me paranoid thst no professional has confirmed it. I've done 5 tests and they're all positive. But 9 weeks in just seems so far to not have any advice or tests 😂

Also is anyone else going to do a blood test for the gender? It says it can be done from 6 weeks!

NatGee · 15/03/2023 09:56

@Gingerbreadmama to be honest, I think the reason for not seeing anyone until well into your 8th week is because the chance of a mc is so high during the first trimester. do you have symptoms? even if not, cos not everyone gets them, pregnancy tests are very accurate so i am sure you can trust them
Yes, I am doing the blood test instead of the scan but not in a rush to find out so happy to wait until later on. Didn't know you could find out that soon, thats amazing

MooseWL · 15/03/2023 10:36

@Chellooo it's horrible isn't it. You could always contact your GP for some anti emetics?
@Gingerbreadmama from what I remember the booking appointments there's no testing either they just take your word for it!! It's not until the scan that I really believed I was pregnant!

Myperfectchaos · 15/03/2023 10:47

@Gingerbreadmama im the same the wait is sooo long!!! I have symptoms about 40 pregnancy tests and I’m still nervous! I won’t be seen until 30th march. 2 weeks tomorrow. It’s going to be a long wait. Considering going for an early scan

LMW84 · 15/03/2023 10:51

Is anyone else finding that they’re crying at every little thing? This is my first pregnancy, so can’t compare it to a previous one, but I’m finding I cry about things at work (thankfully WFH!), adverts on TV, reading your lovely posts! I’m not a massive crier normally, so this is weird for me 🤣 I presume it’s all the hormones (they do seem to be to blame for absolutely everything at this stage!)

NatGee · 15/03/2023 11:00

@MooseWL apart from a urine sample, they should also take bloods for testing for several things like rhesus, blood group, sickle cell anaemia, toxoplasmosis, hiv/syphillis...

bakugo · 15/03/2023 11:28

@LMW84 I am not crying yet but I am getting mood swings! I feel evil today, thankfully working at home today so I can stay away from people. Definitely due to the surging hormones!

Hopefully they settle for us soon :)

bakugo · 15/03/2023 11:36

@EBeans @Mldn

Hi Both, was jus reading your fitness comments. I don't track HR but I know my HR is higher than normal I can feel it for sure😂

I haven't done any cardio since I found out, so not sure how it has affected me yet. I think I'm going to stick to bike riding/walking/light boxing and weights when I feel like I can!

Fruitandnuts · 15/03/2023 11:41

@LMW84 yes ! I’ve just gone 6 weeks and last week I cried randomly for 2 days straight. It wasn’t nice at all! Had a cry to DP but went out for a walk and fresh air and just talked though my feelings. Absolutely no reason to cry but tears kept coming. It stopped thankfully. Next thing was morning sickness, feeling more grumpy this week. It’s going to be a rollercoaster!

LMW84 · 15/03/2023 11:53

@Fruitandnuts It’s crazy isn’t it!? I’m only 5+1 and I’m literally crying at nothing - my OH told me something funny earlier, and I laughed, which turned into tears that lasted for about half an hour for no reason at all. Hopefully by the end of the first trimester, it’ll have calmed down 🤣 Got to go into the office tomorrow, so hopefully nothing sets me off, as my colleagues don’t know I’m pregnant 😂😭

Mldn · 15/03/2023 11:56

@bakugo its defo my main symptom. Dizziness & way higher HR! I’m taking it easy too, slower runs & some swimming & walking. Sitting on the sofa & my heart is beating like it’s out for a run 😂

madeofcodes · 15/03/2023 12:00

I'm a fitness tracker too and to be honest I should've clocked my pregnancy considering the rise from low 60's to high 70's RHR. I haven't done a run at the gym in a while so I think it's best I just pack that in. Doing yoga regularly, cross trainer and dog walks so I'm hoping I can keep that up. I'm 4.5 weeks and I've now got quite bad period-like pains and my boobs feel like they've had a round with Mike Tyson 👍

Pip1402 · 15/03/2023 12:03

Hello, I'd like to tentatively join please. I'm 6 weeks today, due 9 Nov. I've known for a while and been reading this thread since then but was convinced for the first week that it wasn't real/wouldn't last. I'm 40 and this is my first so I'm still feeling pretty uncertain how this will go. I've just got a date for my first appointment though so thought I'd finally say hello!

Congrats to everyone else and commiserations on the symptoms. I've been feeling unbelievably exhausted for the last couple of weeks, I can barely function. Thank god for working from home! I've also had a few tears and mood swings but the nausea isn't too bad thankfully, so far anyway... I have a phobia of being sick so I'm dreading it getting worse!

Mldn · 15/03/2023 12:04

@madeofcodes yes I think that seems sensible, I won’t be trying anything new & just slowing down on what I’m used too. I’ve always been a runner, and long distance - so doing a very slow 5k or so isn’t going to do me any harm! Just trying to keep my HR lower whilst exercising during the first trimester, whilst still feeling like I’m doing some kind of exercise when up to it!

MooseWL · 15/03/2023 12:05

NatGee · 15/03/2023 11:00

@MooseWL apart from a urine sample, they should also take bloods for testing for several things like rhesus, blood group, sickle cell anaemia, toxoplasmosis, hiv/syphillis...

Oh yeah apart from all those! I just meant they don't actually do a pregnancy test!!
@LMW84 one of the first reasons I thought I might be pregnant was because I felt teary at the end of one of my toddlers books (the smartest giant in town🤣) and I don't normally cry hahaha

Skyla01 · 15/03/2023 12:13

For people wanting to keep running- good chance that you'll hit a purple patch in the second trimester. After the morning sickness but before you get too enormous.

Skyla01 · 15/03/2023 12:15

I've just been to the shop to buy crisps and som cans of coke in case my nausea gets worse soon, might take an emergency stash to work as well.

LotzW · 15/03/2023 12:20

Hey.
How's everyone doing?
I have a scan booked for Monday. By my dates I'll be 7 weeks and 2 days so really hoping they're right so we've timed it right to settle my anxiety 🤞🏼
Xx

MinnieLou · 15/03/2023 13:51

Just an update on my situation.
I'm going to leave this thread now.
I started bleeding Thursday last week, went EPU Friday and they could see something but too early to tell so was due back next Tuesday. Started bleeding again Sunday and had heavy bleed with clots yesterday. Back at EPU on Friday to confirm but I'm 99.9% sure I've miscarried at 6 weeks again. Would be an absolute miracle if I haven't.
Sending lots of positivity to you all & really hope everything goes well for you x

EBeans · 15/03/2023 14:05

So sorry to hear @MinnieLou , hope you're ok and keeping everything crossed for you for Friday's scan

38andtrying · 15/03/2023 14:06

I see everyone here talking about a booking in appointment? I live in the North of Ireland and I believe here we don't have that, just an invite to 12 week scan is first appointment, what happens at a booking in appointment?

NatGee · 15/03/2023 14:11

@MinnieLou I am so sorry to hear :( since its the seconod time it's happened, will your doctors investigate?

@38andtrying its an appointment to take all your health details, take urine and blood samples and to give you an introduction to what you can expect will happen at the 12 week scan and later antenatal appointments

This link explains quite well what to expect from the appointment. I think its a good checklist to make sure the midwife runs through all these points

Noneyerbuisness11234 · 15/03/2023 14:12

@Chip131 ring ur gp and tell them that ur pregnant and need the supplements on script I'm ni so not sure if where u r is the same

38andtrying · 15/03/2023 14:13

@NatGee I honestly don't think they do that here which is annoying as I'd like as much monitoring as possible

Sb86 · 15/03/2023 14:16

@MinnieLou so sorry to hear this, hope you get your miracle at Fridays scan ❤️🙏🏼
