Pregnant after IVF

Is anyone out there pregnant after IVF? I'm on an IVF thread but don't want to keep posting about being pregnant when women there are still going through treatment and also getting BFNs.

I had my first round of IVF in November and we got 2 embryos. My first fresh transfer failed and I'm now 5+2 after our frozen transfer.

I'm feeling a bit wobbly today because my symptoms (cramping and super sore boobs) seem to have disappeared, even though I got 3+ on a digital test yesterday.

Just fancy talking to other women who are pregnant after treatment and can relate to all the emotion and worries.

Congrats @Feelslikeforever22 On the 3+. I’m hoping to get the same result next week, I have one test left.

Wonderful news @Purrrrr, it must have been so magical hearing the heartbeat. Amazing, I hope you can relax into the pregnancy more now.

@countrypunk the boobs have definitely grown, mine weren’t that big to begin with so I’m happy with the new size although I’ve had to grab a new bra already!

I’m feeling super anxious right now, just woke from my sleep with quite intense cramping. It only lasted 5 minutes but the pain was bad and more in my groin area, tops of my legs accompanied with me feeling very flushed and sicky. I am so paranoid that I will start bleeding. It’s reassuring to know that when we have issues, we can check back to this group and seeing @Dbop100 comments about cramps at the start of the thread has made me feel a little better, I hope it’s just everything stretching.

Anyway I hope you are all having a restful sleep and not wide awake like me! Xx

Hi ladies, on Thursday night I had a big bleed with blood clots so rang the emergency gynaecology unit and they said to come in the next morning for tests, they checked my cervix and they said it was closed so wasn’t actively miscarrying at that moment and we have just had my hcg results which are 17168, I am 5 weeks and 5 days now. Is this high? They said anything over 1500 they can do an internal scan so we are booked in tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed everything is ok, we were so scared on Thursday that I was miscarrying 😭😔 xx

Dbop100 · 18/02/2023 09:16

Hi @Laura23FE I'm sorry that sounds so scary, you've done the right thing getting it checked out. I think your hcg numbers sound really good. I am 5.5 today and my last HCG was 2703 on 5.1 so assuming my numbers have doubled every 48 hrs since then (🤞) I think I'd be 10800 today, so yours are even higher! I really hope the scan is good tomorrow, hopefully there is another explanation for the bleed. Let us know how you get on xx

Hi @Laur0606 sorry to hear about your cramping it's really scary isn't it? Mine felt so much like strong period cramps it really shook me, it came and went for like 5 days and I had some light spotting too but it's calmed down now. I've since had friends tell me they had the same thing around 4/5 weeks - but I found hcg testing kept me sane throughout that period. Take it easy and day by day xx

runningismytherapy · 18/02/2023 10:19

Morning all,

@Laura23FE that sounds so scary. Fingers crossed for a super positive scan tomorrow 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼 keep us posted!

@Laur0606 did you do a fresh or frozen transfer?? I had lots of cramping and even this tearing pain at night, was convinced it was ectopic but all turned out okay 🙌🏻

Just a heads up to anyone stopping progesterone soon - and I caveat this with the fact that we are all VERY different, and this could be just one big coincidence for me - but I stopped on Wednesday (8 weeks, that’s my clinics policy) and since then have had THE worst headache/migraine of my life!! Accompanied by photophobia, nausea and vomiting - it’s literally had me in bed for 48 hours. Having done some reading it appears this is quite common which is why some clinics suggest weaning
off, and had I known I would feel this way I would have asked to do the same!!
Like I say, could just be coincidence or a personal reaction, and this is definitely not intended to scare or worry anyone, just hopefully let you know it might happen and is (apparently) normal. X

Laur0606 · 19/02/2023 11:25

Hope the scan has gone well @Laura23FE 🤞🏻

I had a fresh transfer @runningismytherapy. Thankfully had no further cramping since Friday night.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend! I’m based in South Wales and the sun is actually out here so going to head out for a walk soon x

runningismytherapy · 19/02/2023 11:40

@Laur0606 I also had a fresh transfer, and clinic put all the cramps and pain down to ovaries still being really swollen. When I went for my viability scan at 6 weeks she said they were still double the size they should be, so it might be that?
Long may this lovely weather last!!! :) x

Laura23FE · 19/02/2023 14:23

@Laur0606 we are 5 weeks 6 days today and there was a little heartbeat 😭❤️ however they said it seems quite slow so they have booked us in for another scan on the 27th feb so fingers crossed the heartbeat has stabilised by then❤️❤️❤️ a lot of people don’t even have a heartbeat when they scan this early so we hopefully it’s because it’s so soon that is it a bit slow

we will be nearly 7 weeks by the 27th so just got to wait til then … trying not to worry as much as possible, so hope our little lamb is ok (our surname is lamb hence the nickname 🤣) xx

Dbop100 · 19/02/2023 16:06

Great news on the scan @Laura23FE so pleased that there was a heartbeat 💗 hopefully it's just slow because it's super early. I am also 5 weeks 6 days today and my first scan is on 27th when I'll be exactly 7 weeks, I cannot wait to get to that milestone and (hopefully) breathe a sigh of relief!

Thanks for the heads up about stopping the medication @runningismytherapy I already get awful hormone migraines I am sure that stopping will be horrible for me so will defo try and insist on weaning.

I've had my first few waves of nausea this weekend. When I say wave I mean just generally feeling sick today since about 10am, haven't actually been sick yet though. I'm sure this will ramp up as I'm easily sick even just from drinking. Any top tips welcome. The main plan is to continuously grazing on biscuits for the foreseeable.

Absolutely beautiful sunny day today in London, we've been down on our allotment since 9am (because since pregnant I've woken up wired every morning), planted a new apricot tree which was quite fun. home now with a cat on my lap. Hope everyone has had a lovely weekend xx

MsSandyToes · 19/02/2023 18:33

@countrypunk @ali2021 and @Izzie94x thank you all so much again for the reassurance. I did another digital at 5+5 and got the 3+ on the digital and also a dye stealer on the cheapies so I've stopped testing now. I'm 6+2 today and haven't tested since although the urge to test is still there in the morning! Haha!

@countrypunk re. your question about discharge, mine is the same. I can only just see it on a daily liner. Just a very subtle tinge and there's no smell or anything and no signs of a UTI or anything so I think (hope) it's fine.

@Purrrrr and @Izzie94x so happy your scans went well and the heartbeats are strong. Must of been so amazing to see and hear it!

@AnnaPr1992 it sounds like you had a scary time bless you. Glad you're all better and good now.

@Laura23FE your week also sounds scary but I'm so pleased you heard a heartbeat at your scan today. That's really positive at this stage.

@Dbop100 hope you're feeling better now it's such an anxious time waiting for the first scan isn't it.

@ali2021 it's only 9 days until our first scans now 😬😁

This week has been hectic with DP's two kids here for half term. I'm absolutely exhausted! Also suffering from some insomnia, I think it's mostly anxiety and I hope it eases after the first scan.

Laura23FE · 19/02/2023 18:54

Thank you @MsSandyToes @Dbop100 .. it was amazing ! My friend said she had a scan at the same stage and the saw a sack but nothing inside it (and now her daughter is 12!❤️) so we are hoping it is just the first day or two of their being a heartbeat so that’s why it’s slow.

can’t wait for the 27th now! This next week is going to drag.

My insomnia had gone but it’s well and truly back now after the last week 🙈 anybody got any recommendations for getting a full nights sleep 😭

countrypunk · 19/02/2023 21:57

@MsSandyToes That's great 🙂 Thanks for replying about the discharge. I can clearly see mine on a panty liner. I've got my scan on Tuesday so if it's still happening I'll ask the nurse about it.

@Laura23FE Lovely news x

Scarlett868 · 19/02/2023 22:15

@countrypunk the yellowish tinge is normal on a panty liner as long as there is no bad odor. It will only increase in volume the further alone you are. I am going through panty liners like nobodies business!
Cant belive I'm 30 weeks now its just so insane.
Decorated the nursery this weekend and honestly never thought I would ever be so lucky 🥰

countrypunk · 19/02/2023 22:29

@Scarlett868 Oh thank you, that's really reassuring. It was freaking me out a bit because Google says it should be white and it's not!

How lovely that you've decorated the nursery 💕 Ridiculously early, but I let myself have a little look at cots online this week. I don't think I'll actually buy anything unless/until I get to the 20 week scan, but it was nice to window shop.

OP posts:
Laura23FE · 20/02/2023 07:32

@countrypunk i bet you can’t wait for your scan tomorrow 🥰 if you are worried about your discharge you can go to your emergency pregnancy department and they will do a urine sample then and there to make sure you don’t have an infection x

Scarlett868 · 20/02/2023 08:01

@countrypunk as long as its not bright yellow it will have a little tinge on the pad. But defo go get swabbed to put your mind at ease.

Haha I was the same kept having a sneaky look but we waited until after the 20 week scan before we bought anything. I cried buying our first baby grow in the shop! Xx

countrypunk · 20/02/2023 09:03

@Laura23FE I really can't, I've been counting down the days! Trying to remind myself that it might not be good news. Thank you for the advice, I've just looked up my early pregnancy unit and think I will give them a ring.

@Scarlett868 I'm not surprised, I think I will too 🥲

Feelslikeforever22 · 20/02/2023 13:14

@Laura23FE so great that you were able to see a heart beat! Congratulations! Hopefully you’ll gain even more reassurance with the scan on 27th.

@Dbop100 sounds like you had a lovely day yesterday!

Good luck for your scan @countrypunk , hope everything goes well!

I just spent a long weekend in Rome with my girls and it was just what I needed! Got some nice exercise in walking all over the city, ate all the pasta and had a lovely catch up.
I know some people may be reluctant to go abroad but I recommend just planning little get togethers or doing something special closer to home to help get through this first trimester. Of course we talked a bit about pregnancy (mine and my friend whose 30wks) but it wasn’t the main focus and it just felt so good to be making memories in the present and not be thinking constantly about what could go wrong in the future.
It also made the time fly! One week until my early scan! 😅

countrypunk · 20/02/2023 13:24

@Feelslikeforever22 That sounds bloody lovely. Hope you gorged yourself!

OP posts:
Feelslikeforever22 · 20/02/2023 13:50

@countrypunk I did! 😋 Tbh eating is the only thing that stops me from feeling sick atm, so every couple of hours I “had” to have more pasta or another pastry 😂

JuliaIVF83 · 20/02/2023 15:48

Hi everyone - I brought my official scan forward , so had it today at 6 weeks + 5 days and very happy to say that they saw a heartbeat and said that it was measuring 2 days ahead @ 7 weeks.

I couldn’t wait any longer and felt like i was getting more and more anxious.

Can’t believe it - I screamed and burst into tears when she said it.

what a feeling !

Laur0606 · 20/02/2023 15:53

Goodluck for your scan @countrypunk ❤️

Rome sounded amazing @Feelslikeforever22. I bet it did you good to get away. We have a trip to Barcelona planned for Easter. I really hope I’m rocking a little bump by then 🤞🏻

Does anyone know when oestrogen (Estelle solo) is normally stopped post successful fresh transfer? I’ve just received my order for more drugs as I was due to run out of lubion. I can see they’ve prescribed enough lubion and cyclogest pessaries for the 12 weeks but no more Estelle solo so only have them til 8 weeks? X

Purrrrr · 20/02/2023 15:57

@countrypunk Hope your scan went well!

@Feelslikeforever22 Rome sounds lovely. My husband and I were due to go in 2021 but were cancelled due to lockdown, he still owes me 😂

@JuliaIVF83 Amazing news, congratulations!

Has anyone had any experience of subacromic haematoma? I started spotting earlier today after walking the dog and managed to get booked into the EPU for a scan. We saw baby’s heartbeat and baby is measuring 7+6, despite me only being 7+4 but the midwife also identified a subacromic haematoma. She said to take it easy but I may experience more bleeding, and I can go back to be rescanned in 2 weeks if I’m still bleeding. Apparently subacromic haematomas are more common in IVF pregnancies. It’s my birthday today too and I’ve spent most of the afternoon in tears 😩😂

runningismytherapy · 20/02/2023 16:20

@Purrrrr my sister had a subchorionic haematoma. Baby was absolutely fine 🙌🏻🙌🏻 and in most cases normally is I believe. It’s just blimmin’ scary in the mean time.
Glad you managed to have a scan and all looks good. That’s positive news :) Look after yourself. Xx

AnnaPr1992 · 20/02/2023 16:23

@Purrrrr I had subchorionic haematoma and I was bleeding week 5 and 7

Dbop100 · 20/02/2023 16:25

Congratulations on the scan @JuliaIVF83 that's such brilliant news! 💕

@Feelslikeforever22 gosh I would love to go to Rome but I feel so tired and nauseous I don't think I'd make the most of it, v impressed you managed it!

@Purrrrr happy birthday! I'm sorry it's been scary with the spotting but glad for you there's a reasonable explanation. Hope you can celebrate and feel a little better tonight xx
