Pregnant after IVF

Is anyone out there pregnant after IVF? I'm on an IVF thread but don't want to keep posting about being pregnant when women there are still going through treatment and also getting BFNs.

I had my first round of IVF in November and we got 2 embryos. My first fresh transfer failed and I'm now 5+2 after our frozen transfer.

I'm feeling a bit wobbly today because my symptoms (cramping and super sore boobs) seem to have disappeared, even though I got 3+ on a digital test yesterday.

Just fancy talking to other women who are pregnant after treatment and can relate to all the emotion and worries.

Hello thanks for starting this! I've had two previously failed transfers so hate to rub it in.

I got a positive about a week ago, I'm 4+ 5 today. I had a total meltdown yesterday convinced that it was going wrong because I had some quite strong, very period like cramps. Quite different from the light cramps I'd been having since transfer.

Ended up getting another HCG test for piece of mind and it has doubled since my test two days before so I'm feeling a bit better now. But gosh it's such an emotional rollercoaster.

Apart from these cramps I've been tired and think my smell is more sensitive. Not had sore boobs at all. Early scan is booked for 7 weeks exactly in 2 weeks but that feels like a lifetime away!x

Hi ladies, I'm feeling a bit anxious today after testing. I'm 5+2 today. I was hoping to get 3+ on a digital this morning but am still showing 2-3 which is what I got last Sunday on my OTD. My FRER was a dye stealer though. I'll attach my progression cheapies with today's at the bottom and then the others show today's tests. Has anyone else had this and shown 3+ a bit later? Still have the same symptoms of cramping etc. but feeling a little nervous now. 😬🙃

Hi everyone! I'd love to join! Thanks @countrypunk for setting this group up, as I stepped back a little from the FET Jan group after my BFP as I didn't want to be seen as being insensitive to some others. I peeked into the 'Due Oct 23' board, but have to admit that seeing a lot of people sharing they fell pregnant their first or second month trying a little hard to take 🙃 So, thank you!
I'm 5 weeks today! @MsSandyToes My first scan is also 1st March! I'll be 7+3 then. All going well, due day is estimated at 15th October. Please don't worry about the Clearblue, I'm also still testing as 2-3 weeks; I've heard they're a little unreliable in terms of accurately measuring HCG! Your FRER looks amazing 😍I'm awaiting HCG results tomorrow from Friday. I've decided if the results have doubled from previous test that I'm going to stop testing and just try to enjoy these early days. I'm also fairly asymptomatic which worries me, but glad to hear I'm not alone!!
Sending everyone every best wish for a happy and healthy pregnancy ❤️❤️

countrypunk · 12/02/2023 17:12

@ali2021 Welcome, and ditto all your feelings! Congratulations on your pregnancy ♥️

@MsSandyToes I know it's hard not to, but try not to worry about the clear blue digital. You get a 3+ on that when your HCG measures 2,753 which is obviously very specific. You could be just a few below. And HCG varies a lot from woman to woman anyway. It's a blunt tool. So ignore it and enjoy your massive dye stealer and amazing progression on your other tests 🙂

I also don't really have any symptoms but I stopped testing on Wednesday and it's allowing me to enjoy being pregnant a lot more. I've stopped worrying. I recommend!

@Dbop100 Hello and congratulations to you too! I had some strong cramping as well, but it seems to have completely calmed down now. I'm 5+5 today. I know, the wait to first scan is interminable!

Thank you at @countrypunk and @ali2021 for the reassurance I know you're absolutely right but I can't help myself from worrying. I really want to see 3+ and then I'll force myself to stop testing too I think.

@countrypunk you're right about the massive ranges I've researched on good ol' google today and found the pampers website has quite a good chart... the differences in what is 'normal' is huge!

@ali2021 how exciting we have our scans the same day. It feels like forever away. I'm hoping it goes quickly. This week is half term and we have DPs two kids here so they are keeping me busy but I think next week will really drag. 😬🙃

I feel exactly the same as you both about the different boards. It's so heartbreaking seeing some ladies on the IVF boards getting BFN after everything we've all been through and equally hard to see the 'it happened 1st /2nd try' on the Oct board. I know lots of pregnant women feel anxious in the 1st trimester but I feel like I'd not be as bad if it wasn't for IVF and everything it's taken to get this far. So happy to share this with all of you. 😊

Izzie94x · 12/02/2023 19:38

@MsSandyToes hi lovely! I tested 5+2 and got 2-3 on my clearblue and instantly panicked too! But kept taking the easy at home IC’s and they were so dark, so felt relived. I then waited until 5+6 until I tested again and got 3+ 🤍✨ x

MsSandyToes · 12/02/2023 19:56

@Izzie94x thank you so much. I'll try the same 🤞

Dbop100 · 12/02/2023 20:40

Thanks for the kind words of support ladies. I'm pretty sure that my freak out was triggered by being at the same stage I was at when I had a miscarriage previously. That was 2.5 years ago and this is the first time I've been pregnant since then, it feels like a lifetime! I am feeling much better tonight. 5 weeks tomorrow and feeling v glad to have got further than I ever have before 💕

I've got the last of my intrillipid drips on Tuesday and I'm gonna get a 3rd HGC then, if it's continued to double I think I'll stop testing entirely. Those clear blue tests are super triggering for me and seem q unreliable.

Anyone else finding they're waking up super early totally full of adrenaline every morning? One of my only symptoms 😂

Laura23FE · 13/02/2023 05:11

Hi ladies, I am currently 5 weeks today .. first scan is March 3rd, feels like a lifetime away!

no symptoms for me except migraines and insomnia (and just woke up to some brown discharge but the nurse said not to panic if I bleed .. not sure how a woman isn’t meant to panic at that 🤣)

I have had 8 positive tests starting from a week after transfer but want to go and buy more … why is testing so addictive 🙈

Dbop100 · 13/02/2023 07:40

Hey @Laura23FE I'm also 5 weeks today! I've got my scan in 2 weeks on 27th. So glad you mentioned the migraines I have also had 2 since my transfer. I was a bit worried as I do usually get them and was told I should expect them to stop in pregnancy but they haven't - guess it makes sense that we're having them considering all the hormones x

Laura23FE · 13/02/2023 07:48

@Dbop100 unbearable aren’t they .. I have also never had a history of migraines so they came as a shock haha .. I have a few friends who know we had an embryo transfer and I mentioned my headaches and they all said it was a positive as they also had headaches in pregnancy so it eased my mind … one of my friends had headaches up until the 3rd trimester 😭😭😭 x

Dbop100 · 13/02/2023 07:52

@Laura23FE oh really that's interesting. I have a history of them, I would usually have one when I ovulated and just before my period. It's something to do with the rush of hormones. I was prescribed a special medication for them which I took when they started but I can't take it now because of the pregnancy and paracetamol doesn't really cut it. Not much that can be done apart from taking it easy and working from home on those days. Fingers crossed they subside for both of us xx

countrypunk · 13/02/2023 09:18

Morning all.

Hope you're feeling good today @MsSandyToes

@Dbop100 Yes, I get this feeling! I'm sleeping terribly. I don't know if it's the actual pregnancy or just because I'm hyper vigilant/stressed about it. I had a really busy weekend and managed to mostly forget about it which was nice. Apart from a friend of my mother in law's constantly asking me why I didn't want alcohol 🙄

@Laura23FE Hello! Migraines sound rubbish. Hope they stop pronto!

Morning ladies! Hope you’re all ok. I’ve got my IVF clinic scan on Thursday this week, when I will be 7 weeks. I’m so anxious and worried about it that I’ve just booked a private early scan for today. I’m 6+4 so I’m really hoping there’s a heartbeat 🤞🏻

countrypunk · 13/02/2023 09:38

@Purrrrr Oh good luck, I'm excited for you! Totally understand the nerves - I'm nervous about mine next week - but the likelihood is that everything will be absolutely fine. What time are you having it? I'll think of you! 💫

OP posts:
Dbop100 · 13/02/2023 09:48

@Purrrrr oh good luck let us know how it goes! I am also a bag of nerves ahead of mine and tempted to ask them to bring mine forward if possible.

Does anyone know the earliest possible date you can see a heartbeat is?x

Scarlett868 · 13/02/2023 10:28

@Dbop100 I had my early scan at my ivf clinic at 6+1 and we saw a heartbeat. Never been so scared for anything as i was for that first scan.

My last scan was a 28 weeks growth scan and the first one I was fully relaxed in! They even showed us baby in 4d! I didn't know the nhs did that.

That is one thing that is actually nice about the ivf pregnancy is the extra scans and more chance to see our little one. Xxx

Purrrrr · 13/02/2023 12:36

@countrypunk @Dbop100 Thank you both! All went well at the scan. Baby is measuring bang on for my dates and the sonographer said there is a good strong heartbeat. I’m feeling so much better now. I might actually get some work done this afternoon now instead of googling 😂

Dbop100 · 13/02/2023 12:38

@Purrrrr oh my gosh that must be such a relief 💕 wonderful news!

@Scarlett868 that's amazing you had a heartbeat so early - in defo going to ask for an earlier scan now I think. Anything to help my anxiety.

Hx

countrypunk · 13/02/2023 14:28

@Purrrrr That's fantastic! Congratulations! I'm so thrilled for you. It must have been amazing to see it all on screen 🙂

Morning all, im 7w6d following ivf.
Lovely to see all the bfps from the other group over here!!
Anyone else suffering with nausea?! I’d much rather just vomit and be done with it 😅 (although I did today, and felt better for a bit and now feel rough again).
No one at work knows which is making it tricky!!
Don't get me wrong, after everything I’ll take it for the next 9 months if I have to, just wondered if anyone had found something that worked for them :) x

countrypunk · 14/02/2023 09:32

@runningismytherapy This isn't veryhelpful to you but I'm 6w today and I've only had the odd wave of nausea, and it goes away as soon as I eat. Which isn't difficult because I'm naturally greedy. Is it constant? I've seen some women say they keep some plain crackers or ginger biscuits by the bed and eat one as soon as they wake up, and that can hold it off. I hope it eases off soon for you!

OP posts:
runningismytherapy · 14/02/2023 11:53

Thanks @countrypunk :) i'll give that a try.
Weirdly, as much as I feel nauseas, eating does seem to help, so i wonder if maybe i'm letting myself get hungry which then makes it worse 🤔
TBH its the only symptom I have at the mo so whilst its grim, its kind of reassuring if that makes sense!

I'm 6w3d and the nausea has really kicked in for me. I find that eating little and often helps. If I keep eating then it definitely stops the nausea a bit. Eating as soon as I wake up has definitely helped too.
