Pregnant after IVF

Is anyone out there pregnant after IVF? I'm on an IVF thread but don't want to keep posting about being pregnant when women there are still going through treatment and also getting BFNs.

I had my first round of IVF in November and we got 2 embryos. My first fresh transfer failed and I'm now 5+2 after our frozen transfer.

I'm feeling a bit wobbly today because my symptoms (cramping and super sore boobs) seem to have disappeared, even though I got 3+ on a digital test yesterday.

Just fancy talking to other women who are pregnant after treatment and can relate to all the emotion and worries.

had our 12 weeks scan this morning and baby is healthy 🥰❤️ such a relief ! Now showing as 13+4 so due date has changed again to the 13th October ❤️

Dbop100 · 11/04/2023 17:15

Congratulations @Laura23FE that's lovely news! Yes it all feels rather real now doesn't it? I was measuring 5 days ahead on mine but they said they don't chance the due date for IVF. It's all a bit of a guess though I suppose x

Laura23FE · 11/04/2023 18:35

@Dbop100 oh really .. they have changed our due date which I did think was strange considering we know the exact dates haha
definitely feels more real now and I feel a lot more relieved now I know baby is healthy .. the 20 week scan feels so far away 😭😭 xx

UrbanParakeet · 11/04/2023 19:07

Hi All, I hope you don’t mind me joining this super supportive group. I’ve read through the thread and I’ve wept when hearing the sad news of others and have been taking notes on all your tips/info.

My third transfer in March resulted in a BFP and am currently 7w3d. Have had 2 scans already at my local EPU due to subchorionic haematoma. Completely nerve-racking amount of blood (twice!) that nobody warns you about. Luckily everything is normal and we saw a heartbeat. Midwife appointment this weekend!

Laura23FE · 11/04/2023 22:19

@UrbanParakeet awww congratulations ❤️ having a bleed is SO scary but as you have probably read it’s a lot more common than any of us ever realised … amazing news on seeing a heartbeat 🥰 not long till your 12 week scan too !

we are all here if/when you need a chat xx

Laur0606 · 16/04/2023 09:54

Hi all, how are we all doing?

We’ve had a lovely holiday in Barcelona which felt a real treat after the stress of the previous months. I am 13 weeks tomorrow and feeling well.

We have our NHS scan this Tuesday. My mum is a midwife and found the heartbeat this weekend which was so special 🥹

ivf2022 · 16/04/2023 10:59

@Laur0606 that's so lovely, hope your scan goes well on Tuesday.

I am 15 weeks now, feel much better than I did in the first trimester but I'm still waiting for that 'second trimester glow'!

We have our consultant appointment and 16 week midwife appointment next week.

runningismytherapy · 16/04/2023 12:59

@Laur0606 how lovely. Did you do sightseeing or just have a full on chill out?! We are away early June and I think my plan is to become one with the sun lounger and some good books :)
i hope your scan goes well and you get some lovely pics!!!

@ivf2022 im also waiting for the alleged glow 🤣🤣
17 weeks and feeling a lot less sick these days but just super tired!!
Hopefully you’ll get to hear little’ns heart beat at your appointment 🤞🏼😍🤞🏼

xx

Laura23FE · 16/04/2023 16:07

@Laur0606 14+2 and I’m still feeling veryyyy sick and throwing up most nights .. Barcelona sounds amazing, my next abroad holiday is Ibiza for my cousins wedding .. can’t wait for sunshine but cba with everybody drinking all day around me 😂😂

we have a private scan booked for Tuesday to found out if we are having a baby boy or a baby girl 🥰 can’t wait xx

Scarlett868 · 16/04/2023 19:35

@Laur0606 currently 38+2 and potentially having a sweep on Thursday. Found out baby is back to back so had bit of a freak out yesterday as I know that can be the worst labour if baby doesn't turn 😥.
Feeling exhausted and the most anxious i have felt the whole way through. Just keep thinking I could meet my baby any day now and keeps me going! Xxx

Laur0606 · 16/04/2023 21:34

Goodluck for your consultant appointment @ivf2022. Is this your first time meeting them? I know I will be consultant led due to a previous section, haven’t met them yet but have already seen an endocrine consultant because I take thyroxine so they are monitoring my under active thyroid.

A little bit of both @runningismytherapy. I’ve been more tired since coming home, the sun definitely helps you feel better. Enjoy your trip by then you will have a lovely bump where I was in the awkward stage where I looked like my clothes were too tight for me haha

Ahh @Laura23FE that’s so exciting that you will know soon. Do you have any inklings which way it is going? I think I maybe carrying a boy as I’ve felt so much better than I did with my daughter (I had hyperemesis with her but didn’t get it this time).

How exciting @Scarlett868. You are literally at the final hurdle, my daughter came at 37+6 so it could literally be any day for you. I hope you’ve finished work and can spend what time left relaxing. I found it reassuring thinking there will be an experienced team around, who will get the baby out one way or another. You can do this, you must be a strong mama to do ivf 💪🏼

acaciabluebell · 18/04/2023 11:50

Have any of you guys started buying things yet? 15w tomorrow and I haven't even started browsing. I think I'm still in disbelief!

Also - anyone planning on a private gender scan around 16 weeks (or already done one?)

acaciabluebell · 18/04/2023 11:52

@ivf2022 I'm still waiting for the pregnancy glow as well, I genuinely think I look the worst I've ever looked in my life! My skin is so dry and terrible. I've been having migraines daily so I spend so much time in my bed that I look like a zombie pretty much 😅

Dbop100 · 18/04/2023 12:06

14 + 1 weeks and I've not bought anything yet for the baby, just some maternity clothes for me. I think I'll wait until after the 20 week scan before buying things.

But I have been thinking and talking to friends about what kind of pram to get. My friends have a lot of opinions which is useful as I am clueless!

Feelslikeforever22 · 18/04/2023 14:56

@acaciabluebell I’m thinking of waiting until 3rd trimester. I have done some research about cots and prams but I think I’d like to see some things in person and test them out before ordering.
I’ve bought some looser clothing for myself but not really wanting to spend too much on something that won’t fit me a year from now.

I’m 14+3 today and off on holiday for 10 days. Still feeling nauseous and blah everyday so I’m hoping I’ll be feeling much better by the time we return. Definitely getting an early private scan to find out the sex. Will probably wait until week 17.

Laura23FE · 19/04/2023 08:10

14+5 today and we had a private scan yesterday to find out the gender !!! A little baby BOY 🥰💙 we only have girls in the family so he is going to be one spoilt little boy … so excited … we both said we thought it would be a boy @Laur0606 a few of my friends were adamant I was going to have a girl because of how sick I have been😂

we went and bought a few little outfits last night to celebrate but we haven’t bought any of the big stuff yet, I think we will start buying big stuff from June, but it’s nice to browse at the moment @acaciabluebell our surname is Lamb aswell so have got little teddy’s/books/blankets that are lamb related 😂 can’t resist when we see something with a Lamb on haha

@Dbop100 my brother had a Stokke pram which they loved (and still looks new so are giving to us) but my friend has just had a baby and has said her doona has been the best thing she bought !

@Scarlett868 awww could be any day now 🥰 so exciting ! Any update since Sunday ? Xx

Scarlett868 · 19/04/2023 16:13

@Laur0606 @Laura23FE
Thanks girls!
Still very pregnant but have a consultant appointment tomorrow so hoping that the baby has turned as I think they want to give me a sweep or induce me 😬.
My due date is the 28th so it really won't be much longer and I am so ready now!!

Laur0606 · 19/04/2023 17:42

Ahhh @Laura23FE a baby boy!! 💙💙 Congratulations! So cute 🥰

My scan went well, baby was measuring bigger so they moved my due date by 2 days - 21st October 🤩

My daughter was due 21st June and came the 6th so I find myself already wondering what this baby will do.

Dbop100 · 20/04/2023 08:52

@Laura23FE congratulations you're having a boy! 💕🎉 we have 6 nephews and no nieces so the opposite of you and we keep saying we'll probably have a boy! Do you have your name picked out?

I can't wait to find out what we're having but we've agreed we're just gonna wait for the 20 week scan, guess it's something to look forward to at the half way mark. After 4 years of waiting we have a definite boy and girl name picked so can't wait to know which one they will be 🥰

Laura23FE · 20/04/2023 11:38

@Laur0606 thank you ❤

@Dbop100 haha we have a few for a boy, but had just the one for a girl which was Ivy Florence ... my favourite boys name changes daily😂

Laura23FE · 26/04/2023 10:07

hows everyone feeling? i'm 16 weeks on Friday and still being sick most days

Dbop100 · 26/04/2023 10:40

Oh @Laura23FE I feel for you, it's so horrible. I'm 15 + 2 and feel ok in the daytime. Late afternoon I still feel queasy, some days nauseous, but not actually being sick. I'm still taking Promethazine for sickness. Have you had any medication for it?

Heading off on holiday to Crete next week if anyone has any pregnancy holiday tips / advice? Planning to mainly chill by the pool and read.

acaciabluebell · 26/04/2023 11:29

@Laura23FE being sick sucks, I'm so sorry you're still in the trenches. I'm 16 weeks and haven't been thrown up for about a week now, fingers crossed it doesn't come back. I still do get nauseous each day if my stomach gets empty. I hope yours let's up soon.

Have fun on your holiday @Dbop100!! I'm jealous! 🥰

Anyone else have their 16w midwife appt coming up soon? Mine is on Friday. I'm really hoping they do a doppler.

Dbop100 · 26/04/2023 11:32

Thanks @acaciabluebell - I've also got my 16wk midwife appt on Friday. Slightly early as she was able to fit me in before we go away. Not really sure what it involves the last one was just lots of questions x

Feelslikeforever22 · 26/04/2023 13:36

@Laura23FE I’m 16 weeks on Saturday and I think I’ve finally started to feel better but still a little bit queasy here and there. I was lucky not to actually vomit through the first trimester but there were many times when the nausea was so awful. It got particular bad around 12 weeks and people said I should see about medication to help but I thought, oh no, it’ll be over soon, I’m so close to the end 😂. I regret not doing it now because it’s really put a dampener on enjoying the pregnancy and life in general.
But things are looking up for me and I hope you start to feel better really soon.

@Dbop100 Enjoy Crete! I’m just coming to the end of 10 days in Tunisia and despite acquiring a slight cold, it’s been amazing. We haven’t done anything too crazy, mostly just relaxing. A couple of long walks, sunbathing, reading, napping and swimming most days. It’s been so nice not to have to worry about preparing food or tidying up.
My nausea has really eased up since being here, not sure if it’s anything to do with the environment, it’s probably just timing. On the plane and transfer to hotel I wore those pressure point wrist bands. I also made sure to have plenty of snacks and drinks for the journey and the day we got here was the best I’ve felt in a long time. Just listen to your body, have fun and rest when you need to.
