That does seem rather unfair @ChloeN that you don’t get another chance to do the screening, even if you’re low risk. What was their reason for not being able to date the pregnancy accuracy? Is it likely to recur if they scanned again? Perhaps that is an issue. If it came to it and it were possible, you could do NT screening privately if you didn’t want to do full NIPT.

@Createcomet I’ve had many days like that with DS. It’s tough. I’m really hoping things improve in the second trimester 🤞. You’re definitely not alone.

@Amme18 I’m also feeling a bit embarrassed to be showing so early this time (although I’ve so far managed to hide it with baggy clothes quite well I think). It’s so ironic as last time I was desperate to start showing!

@AnnieApple123 just because the baby wouldn’t lay right, it was literally upside down facing the wrong way or kicking around 🤣🤣 to be fair she spent so long getting me to move around but it just wouldn’t move to the right place! Hadn’t thought of just having the screening, I’ll have to look in to it because I would of liked it really xx

Amme18 · 21/01/2023 16:29

@sally16 thats true but I look like a house 🤣

@AnnieApple123 they do say 2nd babies show quicker! Plus I keep thinking well I am actually 3 months and a third of the way through!

@Recoba I hope so!!

Feeling the same re whingy toddler today @Createcomet 🙈 My husband went out this afternoon and I was dying for him to come back.. he was on the sofa jumping all over me, trying to climb onto the window sill, he gave the remote to the dog (who doesn’t chew but will chew if handed something weirdly 😂) so narrowly avoided the dog or him swallowing the batteries from it, remotes in pieces. He just seems to get into those moods where he just wants to clamber all over everything and nothing you say or do will stop him 🙈 We’re going swimming tomorrow so itl be fine because he’ll just come back and sleep! I just can’t take his energy when I’m on the verge of gagging and my mind just feels so foggy the whole time

BCxx · 21/01/2023 17:55

@Amme18 i think when you think of it as ‘august’ it just seems so far away but when you take it in chunks and go from one appointment to the next it’s actually not long at all. The first 12 weeks is the bit that drags then I remember up to 20 weeks going a bit faster and it was nice as we were telling people, finding out the gender etc and only going 4 weeks between scans. Then after 20 weeks I just remember it absolutely flying in. I stopped work at 28 weeks because of covid rules at the time so I spent my time counting down to that and as soon as I was off it seemed to go in so quick!

Our babies are due in summer and we aren’t too far away from spring which is exciting! 😬

12 weeks and nausea is back 🤢 I am waiting for the glow. I've been promised glow!

Also is anyone else bursting like ‘I AM TOO!’ every time you see a pregnancy announcement at the minute? I saw my first August one on Facebook the other day and was just internally screaming 🤣 I had decided I wasn’t doing an announcement but maybe I will nearer 20 weeks, really can’t decide

CityKity · 21/01/2023 18:41

@Mumtobabyhavoc @ChloeN sign me up to the dry skin crew! Ever since the cold snap in December my skin hasn’t been the same! I have pregnancy induced exacerbation of atopic dermatitis which has been a bit miserable, but luckily got some pretty strong steroids which had taken the edge off.
Hands are tricky to heal as your always washing them! I wear gloves to stop the cold cracking them, and gloves with moisturiser (Epaderm) overnight which helps too.

I had this today! I was at work reunion and someone I used to work with told me that they were gonna be grandparents, and that the baby was due very end of July. So she's about 2 weeks ahead of me......I was like "ahhh congratulations!" and my friend who was the only person there who knows I'm pregnant was sitting there giving me a very knowing look 🤣

CityKity · 21/01/2023 18:46

Today was the first day in ages I felt good and full of energy! 12 weeks on Monday so I’m really hoping this is the beginning of the ‘good’ part of pregnancy. Could also be the sunshine pepping me up, I have dark cold gloomy winter, so this cold winter sun has reality perked up my mood! I’m really hoping this feeling lasts because I’ve been on a dull cycle of work, bath, early nights due to tiredness, and it feels so nice up get so pep back!

Also ladies with toddlers, you are all terrifying me!! How on earth people have 2+ kids is beyond me. You’re total superhero’s for going through this AND being responsible for tiny humans, I honestly don’t know how it’s possible!

Createcomet · 21/01/2023 18:49

I'm getting such waves of anxiety for my 12 week scan. I'm so scared 😭 and its still over 2 weeks away!

I've had a couple of miscarriages in the past but not as late as this. And last year one of my friends had a foetal anomalies issue that ended very sadly.

My brain is swimming with endless possibilities of things that could be going on in there 😭 this wait is horrible!!!!!

AnnieApple123 · 21/01/2023 19:54

I hear you @Createcomet . I’ve had similar. Haven’t wanted to post too much here as didn’t want to set others off. I’ve been trying to keep reminding myself that the chances of any of the many possible things that could go wrong is mostly <1%. I actually caught myself thinking about the possibility of Siamese twins the other day! How remote is that?!

Me and the toddler have fallen out this evening.. and I feel guilty for telling him he's naughty so he's sleeping in my bed 😂🫠

This is gonna be a long stretch to August.. I have zero patience 😂

@Mumtobabyhavoc careful with reusing gloves, you actually give yourself more risk of sore hands and infection risk due to sweat etc and the coating inside will go away and make them very harsh :( I have to wear them at work and find if I wash my hands then moisturise well that my hands have massively reduced cracking :)
And I have sweaty palms and dry top hands so moisturiser is gross for me but otherwise it looks like I've been scrapping my knuckles along the floor 😂

sally16 · 21/01/2023 20:06

@BCxx someone announced Xmas day they were due July and I was like omg I wanna message and say me too but they likely won't care 🤣🤣🤣

I wasn't gonna announce but I think I will now, I've got too jealous of everyone sharing the joy 😂

Ah same with not wanting to post too much about it. But I can totally relate. The chances are mostly in our favour...I just think this wait for the scan is horrendous. I thought it was going way faster than it did with my first, which is has! But then the last 3 weeks are dragging like hell 🤣 the fact that its January isn't helping haha. Jan is always about 30,000 days long 🤣🤣🤣

Siamese twins is not something I've considered yet haha. The chance of that really are very very slim!

Also reasonably scared of multiples right now, not gonna lie 🤣

CityKity · 21/01/2023 20:47

@AnnieApple123 @Createcomet I’m totally with you on the 12 week scan fear. January is absolutely crawling, but I’m almost there with my scan next Thursday. For me it’s really helped that no one knows yet aside from my SIL/BIL who we’re really close to, so I don’t have to think/talk about it much. My coping strategy has been utter dissociation - I haven’t posted much on here, I’m avoiding reading about pregnancy and what can go wrong.
I’m convinced there’s nothing in there and I’m having a phantom pregnancy and have told DH not to get too excited until we have proof there’s a baby in there!

BCxx · 21/01/2023 20:49

@Createcomet 😂 that’s hilarious, it’s fine if no one else knows but it’s hard if someone else does and you can feel them looking 🤣

VickiGo · 21/01/2023 21:00

Hi guys,

Has anyone had any brown bleed/discharge appear? I'm just over 11 weeks and not had any bleeding of any kind so far, possibly putting it down to sex this morn? But waiting to hear back from NHS.. first pregnancy so panicking intensely x

sally16 · 21/01/2023 21:30

@VickiGo it's insanely common for bleeding after sex! I think it's something to do with the cervix being sensitive but calling nhs was the right thing to do!! They will be able to give you peace of mind 💙💙💙

VickiGo · 21/01/2023 21:33

@sally16 thanks for your message, I've spoken to a couple of people in the pregnancy unit and they said the doctor wasn't all that concerned as I have my 12 week scan on Friday 27th, and just to let them know if anything changes and go to A&E if I experience heavier bleeding 😊 mind is semi at rest now, although have been sneezing all day due to a cold and I reckon my pelvic floor isn't as strong as I thought it was, maybe that's had something to do with it 😂

sally16 · 21/01/2023 21:37

@VickiGo aw good! FYI.. pelvic floor gets worse.. sneezed and slightly wet my pants yesterday on the way to the toilet 😭🤣

ChloeN · 21/01/2023 22:01

@VickiGo midwife said to me a little bit of bleeding is normal, especially after sex because it can all be so sensitive down there! So definitely try not to worry (impossible I know) xx
