@BCxx fab news about your scan☺️☺️

sally16 · 17/01/2023 23:33

Such amazing news on todays scans!!

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 18/01/2023 06:20

Congratulations to everybody else on their scans yesterday, both lovely and exciting news.

Thank you all for the birthday wishes too 🥰

Firsttimemomma1 · 18/01/2023 06:24

Morning ladies, had a really shitty night sleep last night. My other half is driving me crazy. He’s always been quite needy but I’m going through a phase atm with these hormones where I don’t want to be touched, I don’t want him cuddling me in bed all night, the smell of his morning breath repulses me and Im pissed off I can’t roll over onto my other side without him breathing in my face. Now he’s in a grump because he says he doesn’t feel loved and I kept pushing him away.

One night of not wanting to be squeezed to death all night because he’s like a fucking furnace and this is quite the over reaction. I am NOT here for it.

Week 9 mood swings in full force 😂

LS888 · 18/01/2023 07:23

@Firsttimemomma1 i can’t stand it either at the moment. Feel like I’m constantly telling him to get off me. I don’t want to be mean I just can’t cope with it. Then he does it again a few minutes later and says is this ok? Arrrrrrrggggghh!

MidnightSunshine12 · 18/01/2023 08:22

@Firsttimemomma1 Oh no I couldn't cope with that. My partner knows he is expected to be as far away from me in our super king bed as possible, and ideally facing the other way 😂 that was the same pre pregnancy though!

marleyandme · 18/01/2023 08:32

@Firsttimemomma1 ugh sounds awful!
Not sure if it's an option for you or you'll get more complaints but I've been sleeping in a separate room with my massive pregnancy pillow recently 😂 DH feels a bit left out so I might move back every few nights but honestly I sleep so much better alone without the snoring and breath in my face!

Also I was up for a wee like 5 times last night, stupid pregnancy hormones, but I don't think he'd appreciate that and the constant rolling over as I get used to lying on my side!

Firsttimemomma1 · 18/01/2023 08:42

@marleyandme I’m up so many times for a wee too at the minute. I want a pregnancy pillow so bad but holding out to the 12 week mark. I slept in the spare room a few weeks ago when we were both poorly and I might just take it up again and be selfish.

@MidnightSunshine12 this has been the same pre-pregnancy too but he pushes his luck. He’s really cuddly and I’m just not haha! It just irritates me more now I’ve got all these hormones.

@LS888 yes yes and yes!!! Does my head in.

Ive just had my last scan at the EPU and baby is measuring just under 10 weeks with an average measurement of 9+4. She said baby looks textbook but then went on to say that they don’t listen to the heartbeat at this stage because of the heat from the Doppler potentially causing damage. I told her that at 7 weeks a private clinic scanned us and listened to the heartbeat (without asking me by the way) and she said it should be fine as it’s not a regular thing but it’s not advised and now I’m absolutely furious with this private clinic for doing something that potentially wasn’t ok - I’m going to be writing one hell of a shitty email calling them out on it and asking for copies of their guidelines. I’m going to worry myself silly that some damage has been caused now :(.

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 18/01/2023 08:48

@Firsttimemomma1 I could have written that myself 😂😂 the breath so close to my ear goes straight through me!

BCxx · 18/01/2023 08:57

@Firsttimemomma1 congratulations on the scan! I’ve never heard of that heat thing before but no clinic has ever let me hear the heartbeat until 16 weeks. I’m sure you’ll be absolutely fine, just think if there was a huge problem with it everyone else who’s gone there would have found that by now

BCxx · 18/01/2023 08:59

@ChloeN thank you ☺️

BCxx · 18/01/2023 09:01

I can’t remember at what point last time I started with the pregnancy pillow, it was maybe 12 weeks or 16? It helped stop me rolling onto my back during the night if I clamped it between my knees and put the other bit up against my back. I’ve woke up most days on my back so far but I think when it’s this small that’s not dangerous as the baby isn’t big or heavy enough to be stopping any blood flow 🤔 can’t decide when to get one this time but they’re the best things ever 😂 really struggled to get rid of mine. Only thing I found was it is literally a barrier between the two of you so even though sex isn’t happening right now anyway, it’s like that’s it off the cards completely 🙈

ChloeN · 18/01/2023 09:12

@Firsttimemomma1 my private scan let me listen to the heartbeat at 10 weeks, I didn’t know it wasn’t advised till I heard someone else say it! I’d try not to worry I see loads of TikTok’s of American ladies hearing the heartbeat regularly from 6 weeks xx

Firsttimemomma1 · 18/01/2023 09:12

@BCxx all the more reason for me to get one - to keep him further at bay haha! I do feel sorry for him as he’s gone from a lot of intimacy to no sex and me dealing with every emotion possible and throwing the same at him which can’t be easy but he just doesn’t understand why I don’t like things now that I used to love.

You raise a good point on the Doppler thing. I know someone else in a different part of the country who had it done at 7 weeks too and the clinic said it was part of their routine offering and her baby is fine but oh my god it just pisses me off the thought of a private scan company being utterly negligent for the sake of £80. It doesn’t help that I work in law and it’s my job to call firms out on bad practice but my anger levels are like 2000000000/1 right now. I can’t see anything on Google to suggest it’s ridiculously harmful and you’d think if it was then it would be plastered everywhere. Anyway, I’ve moved my dating scan forward a little to the 8th so that I have 2 days less to wait. This is going to be the longest three weeks ever.

Firsttimemomma1 · 18/01/2023 09:13

@ChloeN really needed to hear this!!!!! Thank you thank you!!!

ChloeN · 18/01/2023 09:18

@Firsttimemomma1 I panicked too when I heard but I found absolutely nothing on Google, and loads of other ladies said they’d heard the heartbeat too so that calmed me down🤣 The sonographer who did mine was the lead sonographer at adenbrookes before she retired so I’d be really surprised if she did anything potentially dangerous xx

Firsttimemomma1 · 18/01/2023 09:24

@ChloeN that is a very very good point. I feel much better just after reading your two messages.

The conflicting opinions of medical professionals causes quite the stir. My EPU are usually amazing but I had a different lady today and I just felt like she was patronising me and making me feel like I’d damaged my baby when I didn’t even have a choice as the sonographer just did it.

Currently downloading TikTok and doing a very selective hashtag search, this will be me for the next 8 hours haha!

ChloeN · 18/01/2023 09:28

@Firsttimemomma1 honestly there’s loads on tiktok just search hearing babies heartbeat🤣xx

MidnightSunshine12 · 18/01/2023 09:31

Has anyone had a dermoid cyst before and would know what to expect at a consultant appointment about it? I had 12 week scan last week and have a consultant app tomorrow at the antenatal clinic to review the cyst (which is tiny and apparently just routine to review) but I'm secretly hoping to get another scan whilst I'm there. Is this likely?

Mulner88 · 18/01/2023 09:34

@Firsttimemomma1 they let me listen to the heartbeat yesterday at my 12 week scan

I haven't looked into pregnancy pillows as this is my first, but would everyone recommend? I do tend to fall on my back during the night! Are there any particular makes of pregnancy pillow that people would recommend?

nadsc · 18/01/2023 09:37

@Firsttimemomma1 @ChloeN they did my daughters heartbeat at my 9 week private scan and she came out fine. I had no idea this was a thing, but yeh all over tik tok they have the heartbeats listened to at their scans early on and also people use those at home dopplers so early too.

Firsttimemomma1 · 18/01/2023 09:42

@nadsc thank you so much for telling me this!!! Im glad she arrived perfect and safe! Xxx

BusyBushBaby · 18/01/2023 09:51

NHS listened to the heartbeat at 9+5 with me but super briefly (like for 2 seconds) because although they could see there was some cardiac activity on the scan the image wasn't very clear. Neither the NHS nor my fertility clinic listened in at any of my other early scans, even to check blood flow to the poorly looking twin because of concerns that it could affect the healthy twin. I think the evidence for harm is pretty weak, but they understandably don't want to take the risk. I've already had 5 scans at this point because of my history, because of the vanishing twin and because I also had a subchorionic haematoma.

marleyandme · 18/01/2023 10:00

@Mulner88 i bought this one
amzn.eu/d/hBrrJl2

I was planning to wait til my 12 week scan but wanted to start getting used to side sleeping as I've only ever been able to sleep on my back so it's been an adjustment but it's so cosy!
I chose it because its so flexible, it all unzips apart so you don't need to sleep with it all and can pick and choose what bits suit you and take stuffing out if it's too big.
It's not the cheapest but I've been loving it so far! Only issue is it's warm which is nice this time of year but I'll be sweating in a few months 😂 but I think you'd get that with any pillow.

ChloeN · 18/01/2023 10:03

@marleyandme that looks soo comfy🤣 I still lay on my front and back atm when is it meant to switch to side only? I assumed I had ages 🤣
