DS on his toy phone just now: ‘Hello, which service do you require?’

That’s definitely Fireman Sam’s influence. At least he is, arguably, learning something.

I’m definitely bloated here too. All trousers are a struggle to do up. I was on the heavier side of my normal when I had my booking appointment and according to my scales I haven’t put on any weight either. I’m quite looking forward to having a bump but think my husband is a bit freaked out by it. I showed him a video that Stacey Solomon had put on Instagram if her bump moving and it really freaked him out 😂😂😂

marleyandme · 17/01/2023 13:03

I don't know about you all that are feeling bloated but I've already bought maternity jeans 😂 I live in them and love the extra warmth of the over bump material although there's nothing to hold it up yet!
I figure I'm a quarter way through already so I need to be comfy and my normal jeans I'd been wearing with the button and zip undone all day which was not suitable for leaving the house 😂
My only irritation is there being barely anywhere that does petite/short and maternity, I felt like I'm not allowed to be short and pregnant 😂 on the plus side I've been practicing hemming them up so at least I've learnt a skill I'll probably need for little one if they take after me!

So lovely to see your 12 week scans 😍 it's getting me quite excited!

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 17/01/2023 13:47

Just catching up from yesterday.

Congratulations @DesertSnow such lovely news.

Also congratulations to any newbies 🥰

It is my birthday today so I buckled to my anxiety about constantly spotting and booked myself a last minute scan. Baby is all well, measuring 9 weeks exactly, heart rate of 170.

I do however have a retroverted uterus, not entirely sure on what that means but I am sure some of you ladies have said you have had this?

Now that I know all is okay, back to my sulking that I can't have wine on my birthday 😂 But instead have packing to do ready for our house move on Friday!

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 17/01/2023 13:48

@marleyandme if you happen to find any for petite anywhere let me know. At 5foot I have been looking for some but haven't found any yet.

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 17/01/2023 13:50

@AnnieApple123 I have, I am definitely bloated and my belly feels rock hard, but I'm just slightly under my normal weight. So strange, it must just all be gas 😂

BCxx · 17/01/2023 14:01

@MinnieFirstTimeMum aww happy birthday and great news about the scan! 🎉 I have my second early one at 5pm, for some reason even after seeing a baby and heartbeat on the first one I’m still really nervous for this! I’ll be 9 weeks too and I feel like if you’re all good at 9 weeks the odds are really in your favour 🤞🏼

BCxx · 17/01/2023 14:03

I’m out of the jeans now, they’re just so uncomfortable. Going to be wearing leggings and long tops/jumpers from now on. I hate this stage when you just feel a bit fat 😂 I only liked it from about 20 something weeks when it was clear it was a baby in there!

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 17/01/2023 14:13

Thank you @BCxx and good luck with your scan.

I felt it was much better at 9 weeks, could see baby wriggling around a lot.

Nic2908 · 17/01/2023 14:16

My husband is one of 7 boys, his mum desperately wanted a girl and never got one. She now has three grandchildren which are all boys! I’m happy being a boy mum, But I would love for it to be a girl for her. Having the nipt test on Monday with a scan so going to find out the gestation on the nipt (we did that with our son).

absolutely love the 12 week scan, and I agree with the others this is a place for sad and happy news. I can’t wait to see more scans!!

If its any consolation, I'm 6"2' and tall and pregnant is also a problem!

Firsttimemomma1 · 17/01/2023 14:48

@MinnieFirstTimeMum happy birthday beautiful!! Wonderful news on your scan. I should be exactly 9 weeks today too :). I thought I was more but my last early scan (I've admittedly had a few due to anxiety!!) dated me back a few days.

Was it internal or over tummy?

@Amme18 i am SO bloated and it literally starts under my boobs. I have such a Santa belly at the moment and I live for pyjama bottoms and leggings. I had jeans on for work yesterday and it was so uncomfortable, unbuttoned them on the train home haha!

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 17/01/2023 14:51

@Firsttimemomma1 thank you lovely 😊
It was abdominal today.
Aww we will have the same due date then ❤️

ChloeN · 17/01/2023 14:52

@MinnieFirstTimeMum what a fab birthday present☺️

BCxx · 17/01/2023 14:59

@MinnieFirstTimeMum thank you, I only had the very early one then 12 week scan with my son so have never seen an inbetween stage. I remember being so shocked there was a full on baby there at 12 weeks so I’m hoping it’s a sort of baby shape today at 9 😂

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 17/01/2023 15:00

@ChloeN 🥰
@BCxx kind of baby shape, nothing like Desertsnow's 23 week scan shape though

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 17/01/2023 15:02

Meant 12 not 23 🙄😂

DesertSnow · 17/01/2023 15:10

@MinnieFirstTimeMum ha I was going to say! 😂 Happy birthday! Fab news on the scan.

@BCxx honestly right up until she put the probe on me yesterday I was kind of in denial there would actually be a baby in there. And this actual human-looking baby appeared on the screen! I was in shock! Good luck for your scan, will be. Thinking of you.

Yes to bloat. No to jeans 😂

AnnieApple123 · 17/01/2023 15:17

Happy Birthday @MinnieFirstTimeMum ! So glad all is well.

Good luck for later today @BCxx .

@marleyandme I’m another who could do with advice on petite clothes. It’s difficult enough at the best of times without adding in the maternity element!

I also have a retroverted uterus @MinnieFirstTimeMum i think it means it is tilted. At my early scan I had to have an internal because they couldn’t see the baby. With a full bladder it apparently pushed it further away so harder to see with an abdominal scan. I hope tomorrow it can be seen with an abdominal scan but preparing myself for an internal one. Not going to have too much water before the appointment as last time I was bursting and then had to let it out anyway!

marleyandme · 17/01/2023 15:28

@MinnieFirstTimeMum happy birthday and congratulations on the scan!

The only place I found doing petite maternity jeans was Next but I just ordered my usual size and jeans from Dorothy perkins but in maternity and took the length up.

@Createcomet might be worth checking next for tall maternity too? It's crazy that there's barely anywhere to buy these things!

sally16 · 17/01/2023 15:51

@marleyandme I'm sure I've seen petite mat wear! Either Dorothy Perkins or asos!

Firsttimemomma1 · 17/01/2023 16:06

@BCxx it might be baby shaped.

This was mine the other day at 8+4 and you can make out the little button nose :).

DP just ordered me crocs for work because my sketchers are killing my feet...
I'm so scared about wet feet 🤮🤣

But excited for the comfort! Haha
