@P1pk not entirely sure 🤣 they’re self-proclaimed experts but there’s groups of them on Facebook too where people share their scans. There’s all different bits they can analyse to say if it’s a boy or a girl, something to do with the angle of a bit somewhere near the bladder 🤷🏼‍♀️ I sent my scan to it last time and was sent a detailed thing back showing me it was a boy and why, turned out he actually is but there’s a 50/50 chance so 😂

jollydollyirl · 16/01/2023 22:25

Evening ladies 👋,

Out of curiosity, my husband and I were talking about summer plans (all hopefully going well). Given that we won't be able to fly, we were thinking of going down the country for a few nights in early July.

My question is, would you go 4ish hours down the country at 7.5/8 months pregnant? Would we be safer staying closer to home? How do pregnant ladies generally feel at this point? First pregnancy so curious!

P1pk · 16/01/2023 22:29

@BCxx thankyou! So interesting!! Will need to remember when I get my scan.

@jollydollyirl I would suggest speaking to midwife/gp closer to the time. I've read online it's fine to drive a few hours but just make sure you make regular stops and exercise your feet. But you may not want to do anything at that time.

I've got a similar issue as its my hubby's 40th in June. Glad I hadn't booked but now I don't know if we will be able to get away for it

UsernameNotPresent · 16/01/2023 22:35

@jollydollyirl physically I felt ok last time at 7/8 months pregnant although was the size of a detached house. Don't plan anything too strenuous, when you have a big bump to lug around, even the smallest of hills becomes a mountain. My main worry would be going into early labour away from home. I am planning to stay in the vicinity 35 weeks onwards, just in case.

Mulner88 · 16/01/2023 22:45

@DesertSnow amazing 😍 so glad all went well with your scan xx

Also not sure about nubs theory but come across it a lot on MN 😂

BoodifulGoose · 16/01/2023 23:02

@DesertSnow so happy to hear your news and see your pics 🥰🥰💙

Firsttimemomma1 · 16/01/2023 23:16

@P1pk welcome and a huge congrats on your positive :)!

If I do say so myself there’s a fabulous group of ladies in this chat and there’s support and banter in abundance :)

AnnieApple123 · 17/01/2023 07:21

Wonderful news @DesertSnow ! Always great to hear good news as others have said.

Welcome @P1pk !

Has anyone else felt a bit low recently?
I don't know whether it's hormones, or whats going on. I feel bad because I'm not really giving work my all, and I'm not really giving parenting my all either so that's making me feel worse. I can't exercise because I'm just way too exhausted and dizzy and for some reason I just generally feel quite flat and disinterested in things. It's really getting to me.

LS888 · 17/01/2023 08:22

Congratulations @DesertSnow! Great news to see this morning. I’m so glad everything went well. I’ve read a few things on Pinterest about nub theory but not really 100% sure on it! Perhaps put it on another post and see if there are any MN experts out there!!

Amme18 · 17/01/2023 08:55

@DesertSnow lovely to see your scan, don’t want anybody feeling like they can’t share happy news! (Or worrying/sad news too!)

@jollydollyirl if you’re planning on driving just bare in mind fitting comfortably behind the steering wheel too! My bump was pretty close 😅 But other than than I felt fine in myself - I was decorating the nursery at that point. But as others have said it’s more about being away from my hospital for if I went into early labour!

DesertSnow · 17/01/2023 09:04

Thank you all for being so kind about my scan news! 🥰 Can't wait to see others'.

sally16 · 17/01/2023 09:08

@jollydollyirl I was 4 hours away in Manchester a wee before I had DS 😅 I just made sure I had the infant car seat and our hospital bags in the boot just incase!
I only put these into the car at about 36 weeks! Which I think is sensible :)

@BCxx ahh yes I remember your posting hahaha! I'd probably do it at work and see if I could just draw some blood and put it in the tube instead 🤣 and it will be sterile so less chance of contamination.. but I dunno if I can be bothered spending £80! Haha xx

BCxx · 17/01/2023 09:12

@sally16 yeah I had decided I wasn’t, originally was going to get the clinical one done at a place near me but it’s double the money so decided against it. It seems to be pretty much 100% accurate though, compared to the at home one. I don’t know why I randomly decided I would just order it and did it (badly) 🙈 You get your money back if it’s wrong when the baby arrives but it’s more the emotional thing of thinking it’s one then it’s the other that will bother me than £89 I spent 7 months ago by the time they arrive 😂 at least you get it back though. I’m assuming my email saying boy will arrive today.. the only way I’ll take it seriously is if it says girl as they’re basically searching for any male DNA so it’s unlikely to give you a false girl by this stage. If it’s boy I’m just going to go to my scan thinking it could go either way 🙈

BCxx · 17/01/2023 09:14

@Createcomet i had a bit of a down day on Sunday, I fell asleep on the sofa and woke up, had so much to do, the house was a mess, I was just generally worried about everything and felt like time was crawling by. I think we’re just at that hard bit of it just before we get some good news and that spurs you on for another few weeks. By the time we get to 20 weeks itl be full baby mode, buying things etc. It doesn’t help that it’s January, it’s dark and it’s cold outside. Everyone is miserable I think but on Sunday I seemed to convince myself it was just me 🤷🏼‍♀️

sally16 · 17/01/2023 09:18

@BCxx how exciting would it be if it said girl., mostly because it's the only answer you could trust 😂😂😂
We have too many male people and animals in my house for us to chance doing it at home 🤣

AnnieApple123 · 17/01/2023 09:19

@jollydollyirl It does feel like quite a dilemma, doesn’t it, the whole business of how to fit in a holiday with a summer due date and how close to your due date you can safely travel. I think it largely comes down to how you’d feel about going to a local hospital while you were away if it came to it (not necessarily to deliver but if you had any concerns late on). I’m very set on my chosen hospital now and tend to be quite phased by the unexpected and unfamiliar, so I’m planning to stick close to home. For others it would be fine though.

BCxx · 17/01/2023 09:22

@sally16 i think part of me would also kind of like a girl this time but I’ll be happy with either result if I know that is actually the result. I’d just love it to say girl so I know what it is 😂 I feel less sick than last time if anything so thinking that surely suggests another boy

AnnieApple123 · 17/01/2023 09:24

@Createcomet It was BlueMonday yesterday, so perhaps that was a factor! I’ve also genuinely not been feeling up to exercise in the first trimester. I’ve been trying not to give myself a hard time about it.

BCxx · 17/01/2023 09:25

The summer holiday thing is such a dilemma. It was the exact same for me with my last August due date but it was still kind of covid and people were only just going their first trip abroad so it didn’t hugely bother me to miss it. It’s the fact after the baby is born it’s hardly much of a ‘holiday’ to go away with them 🙈 So that then means waiting another 6 months+. I’m far too nervous to venture too far away from my own hospital though. I think we’ll do centre parcs at Easter time and a few other short breaks in the UK then stay closer to home in summer and maybe go to Tenerife or somewhere this time next year (that sounds soooo far away) 😭 but I think the anxiety of being away while pregnant when just ruin the holiday for me anyway

sally16 · 17/01/2023 09:26

@BCxx I'd love a little girl! I've always wanted a boy and a girl! But I certainly won't be trying for a girl 🤣 and done after this one, DP will be getting the snip haha

DesertSnow · 17/01/2023 09:27

@BCxx ha I don't think I'll trust what the sex is until the baby comes out and I can see for myself - and then I'll probably triple check! 😂 I would be happy to wait until birth to find out - I also would not like the emotional rollercoaster of thinking it's one thing and that being wrong, but DH wants to know and he's won that battle.

I don't think I'll be sending off to the nub whisperers, but I did create a separate post on here to see if anyone has any ideas. Just a bit of fun! I would be thrilled either way. I've said all along I think it's a boy so would be surprised if it turned out not to be.

Amme18 · 17/01/2023 09:27

@BCxx its not a holiday anymore with DS either 🤣 more of a change of scenery, we went to Portugal last year and I came back in no way relaxed. I was adamant I was going to read at least one book though or is it even a holiday?

BCxx · 17/01/2023 09:29

@sally16 haha 🤣 we’ve always said we’d probably have three kids regardless but have a bigger gap before the last one. A boy and girl would just be perfect though, I don’t think I’d even find out the sex of #3 if we already had one of each. I almost just think it could be too good to be true though and I’ll have three boys! I do love my little guy to bits and I’m now very used to all the boy stuff, can’t imagine ever looking in a girls clothes section!

BCxx · 17/01/2023 09:31

@Amme18 haha nightmare 😂 the last holiday we went he was 9 months so he actually slept in his buggy for really long stretches of the day and I did feel like I had a holiday, in between all the usual baby stuff! It would be a different story now though, probably wanting to go in and out the pool all day. Once you have two after a few years they probably just entertain each other and you can have a holiday in peace 🤣
