@Havanalily1806 thats absolutely awful, I can’t believe they’re not willing to help. In the very least offer you a repeat scan to check for any growth!! It’s such a crap situation xx

BoodifulGoose · 16/01/2023 11:14

Thanks for responses on NIPT, I'm a very anxious person and had it in my head everyone was doing it 😅
Appreciate the reassurance, thank you.

BoodifulGoose · 16/01/2023 11:17

@Havanalily1806 I'm so sorry that sounds so hard to deal with :( are there any other private clinics nearby/a drive away you could explain the situation to if you can afford another, so they hopefully aren't as blasé(?) about it?

BCxx · 16/01/2023 12:09

@Havanalily1806 aw so sorry they aren’t being helpful, that seems mad that they can’t just offer to scan you. I would probably go to a different private place if possible in 1-2 weeks and see if there’s any change. Ridiculous that you have to pay again when you’ve potentially got bad news from the first one. Hope there’s a chance it could work out okay for you 🤞🏼

BCxx · 16/01/2023 12:13

Feeling a bit sick today but I’m delighted about that after having nothing for a week or two 🙈 Second private scan tomorrow at 9 and a bit weeks so if that’s all good I think I will feel much more relieved. Sent my sneak peak test back but it turns out they’re shut sundays and not open Monday this week either, I did it on Friday and it’s meant to be within 2 days so I’m not holding out much hope that it won’t just be inconclusive but thinking I won’t get it back til Wednesday or something now at least. Trying to take it as a bit of fun but also dying to see what it says 😂 I do feel itl probably be another boy because of my lack of sickness

AnnieApple123 · 16/01/2023 12:24

Oh @Havanalily1806 I’m so sorry you’re getting this response from the NHS. Can you make an urgent appointment with your GP and explain it’s causing you terrible anxiety? Hopefully they may be able to offer more reassurance then. xx

@Havanalily1806 I'm so sorry for your experience but I’m holding out hope that there is a heartbeat and there’s a justifiable and positive explanation for the size of your little bean. Personally, I wouldn’t accept that from your midwife and I would be causing a stir until they referred me to the EPU. Maybe mention it’s causing you extreme anxiety which is not good for you or the baby and, if they won’t refer you, you’d like it in writing by Friday with a full explanation as to why. I’d also say you reserve your right to bring this to the attention of your CCG. I appreciate you might not be that way inclined and I sound like a bit of a “Karen” but I absolutely refuse to be refused a decent level of service and care when I think I need it (which is not often).

@BCxx good luck for tomorrow my darling!!! Let me know how you get on.

It is my first day back at work today after being off since 4th December on holiday and sick leave. This morning getting the train to London was a bit of a struggle and I felt quite queasy but tbh working all day has taken my mind off of everything else. Hoping this means the next 3 weeks will fly by if I just focus on work.

sally16 · 16/01/2023 13:14

@Havanalily1806 that is a disgrace! I'd phone maternity and try to escalate this! I dont understand why you can't self refer to epu,, what about over night etc! Sounds so bizarre and poorly thought out service!
Would GP be able to refer you? The report from the scan should be enough for them to escalate if they are able?

So sorry your now in limbo! And I also don't agree with having to pay again! Maybe worth phoning the scan place again to see if they offer reduced rates or free rescan for dates being in accurate xx

unluckyinlife · 16/01/2023 14:54

@BoodifulGoose I'm not having the NIPT done either. I will have the combined testing though just as I was advised my folic acid was low before finding out I was pregnant as that can increase the risk according to my doctor. X

unluckyinlife · 16/01/2023 14:57

@Firsttimemomma1 I hope your first day back is going well! Make sure you rest this evening, I imagine that it will be a shock gettjng back to normality.
I've found that I have a mad burst of energy and can't keep my eyes open from about 3 😁.

Does anyone know why my text keeps turning bold? I'm using mobile and usually don't comment so this is all new to me! X

BusyBushBaby · 16/01/2023 15:02

@Havanalily1806 I'm sorry EPU/midwives were so unhelpful. Not what you need at all at what is already a difficult time. It might be worth asking your GP to refer you to EPU or getting in touch with PALS if you don't get anywhere via the GP.

Paintandpots · 16/01/2023 15:06

Thanks @Mumtobabyhavoc .
Have tried the ginger tea this morning and it does help so i'll keep sipping cups of it throughout the day.
Little one is getting bored of my tiredness, bless him, so hopefully other half will take him out after work or i night manage to after our nap.

AnnieApple123 · 16/01/2023 15:31

@BoodifulGoose Re: NIPT. It’s such a personal thing. I’ve felt strongly that I wanted as much info as possible in both pregnancies and have been grateful to have it as an option. However that’s with being late 30s.

Afternoon Ladies

After moaning to you all about not having my dating scan yet, I’ve just received it :). 11.20am on 10th Feb.

Shit just got real.

sally16 · 16/01/2023 16:18

@Firsttimemomma1 yayyy! About time 🤣

@BoodifulGoose I'm not getting the NIPT either. I'm just doing the standard NHS test at my 12 week scan and if anything flags up then I'll look into it, but to be honest, all those tests confuse
me and didn't know they existed until I came on here 😂

@Firsttimemomma1 today is my first day back to work in a month properly after annual leave and sick leave! It was definitely a full on day and actually forgot I was pregnant until half 4 this pm 😂 work defo takes your mind of it which is good, but I'm just wrecked now!!!

Mulner88 · 16/01/2023 17:49

@Havanalily1806 I'm so sorry you're in this predicament 😢 and can't believe the NHS are being so dismissive, especially when there are definite date differences! I second calling your GP and getting them to refer you to EPU!

unluckyinlife · 16/01/2023 18:31

@Firsttimemomma1 so exciting 😀x

sally16 · 16/01/2023 18:44

Has anyone done the sneak peek test? It's a full refund if they are wrong and I'm tempted 😅

unluckyinlife · 16/01/2023 19:11

Does anyones stomach feel really tight and hard at random times of the day? I've got it now andbefore lunch earlier? It doesn't hurt but I can feel stretching and it kind of looks like a bump shape, I know it's not going to be almost 8 weeks but i have no idea whats going on. X

unluckyinlife · 16/01/2023 19:12

I've never heard of it before this thread! Just had 16 week gender scans! How early can you find out? I'm not finding out this time. My husband wanted to, but he's terrible at keeping a second would 100 percent slip up! X

Firsttimemomma1 · 16/01/2023 19:56

@sally16 @BCxx has done it I believe.

@Mulner88 this is the first day that I haven’t felt pregnant and it’s because work has completely taken my mind off of it. Not sure baby appreciates the Usain Bolt style run I’ve just had to do for the train at Kings X though 😂😂

@BCxx before I forget, good luck for your scan tomorrow!

Firsttimemomma1 · 16/01/2023 20:00

@unluckyinlife what a first day back! I’m shattered and can’t wait to take my makeup off and get in bed haha!

To be honest this is the first day I haven’t been shattered come 2pm and need a nap! I’m sure that will change now I’m WFH the rest of the week haha!

sally16 · 16/01/2023 20:01

@unluckyinlife 15 weeks some places! I personally wouldn't trust being told I was having a girl until the nhs 20 week scan 😅 just because boys are sometimes good at hiding there wee willys earlier haha!
