@Firsttimemomma1 maybe call your midwife! It's maybe just been lost in the post! I'm 10 weeks and my first scan is 1/2! Xx

sally16 · 15/01/2023 16:49

Thanks everyone :). X

Narwhal88 · 15/01/2023 16:53

Thanks everyone!
Lovely news as well @sally16 🥰

I still haven't even heard from the midwife from my referral so haven't even got a booking appt yet let alone a scan date!
I only referred about 10 days ago though as I was anxious to have my ivf scan first.
Bit worried as I am on clexane injections and need to know whether to continue them.

sally16 · 15/01/2023 16:55

@Narwhal88 would the fertility clinic not be able to advise or is that them finished now you've had a successful scan? Xx

Mulner88 · 15/01/2023 16:58

@sally16 glad your scan went well 😊 peace of mind for a little while at least xx

@Firsttimemomma1 I hadn't heard anything about 12 week scan and when I was 10 weeks, I contacted antenatal unit at my hospital and they gave me an appointment over the phone. Still no letter. It's on Tuesday so will call tomorrow just to confirm again and to see if I need full bladder etc etc. If I hadn't have called, I still wouldn't have a letter...

ChloeN · 15/01/2023 17:04

@AnnieApple123 i think you should keep Thursday 🙈

@sally16 yay so pleased everything went well!

@Firsttimemomma1 mine took maybe 3 days to come through, but I was 10 weeks by then so maybe why xx

Firsttimemomma1 · 15/01/2023 17:13

Thanks @ChloeN @Mulner88 and @sally16

I will wait until Wednesday when I have my last app at the EPU and should be 9+2 and I will see if they can do anything about it (they’ve been great so far so hopefully they can).

If not, I’ll wait another week and then pick the phone up.

My midwife team are VERY hit and miss. No phone number to call and they only respond to emails when they want and it’s usually a “we will look into it and come back to you” which I end up chasing again in a weeks time.

All letters are issued digitally by my trust so they can’t use the lost in the post excuse.

Narwhal88 · 15/01/2023 17:23

@sally16 the fertility clinic have discharged me and said it's up to the consultant if they want to continue them or not. Another thing is I have referred to a hospital out of area as my local hospital trust had a big maternity scandal that's been on the news and I didn't trust them 🙈 so worried they will reject me or something!

sally16 · 15/01/2023 17:59

@Narwhal88 aw I'd defo phone them and find out then! Don't blame you! I'm trying trying to move to another hospital too!

sally16 · 15/01/2023 18:18

Is anyone else just not winning with food? Went to tony macaronis for lunch.. returned all my food.. was all gross! The moza sticks were soggy and mac and cheese stinking! Was so gross I ended up with chips :( then tried a McDonald's for tea.. binned the lot.. I'm so fed up :(

And hungry baba

Firsttimemomma1 · 15/01/2023 18:25

@sally16 me too. I cooked a gorgeous lamb dinner with all the trimmings for us tonight and I was sooooo looking forward to it as it’s usually my favourite but the moment I smelt it I was like nope, not happening haha.

I managed some mashed potato’s and a tiny bit of lamb.

Been gagging all day so my nausea is definitely back after disappearing for a few days.

Amme18 · 15/01/2023 18:30

My sickness is SO much better, and can eat more than I could but still a lot I can’t even try cause I know it won’t go down well, or I’ll be eating something and I’m like literally can’t swallow this mouthful because my brains decided I can’t eat it now 🙃

sally16 · 15/01/2023 18:31

@Firsttimemomma1 the only things I can face are dry.. like a crisp sandwich 😂 sausage rolls are acceptable usually but that's about it :(
Ice creams a no also and I love icecream 😭

Atleast we won't get fat I suppose 😅

BCxx · 15/01/2023 18:37

My friend wasn’t drinking on the night out I wasn’t drinking at but she covered it really well because she said she was then on the day said she was so hungover. I actually thought she had a few but clearly she had none.. she’s just announced she’s pregnant! Due a few weeks before me! I was so enthusiastic but trying to also contain my excitement so she wouldn’t suspect I am too 😂 that’s me got a maternity leave friend 😅

Createcomet · 15/01/2023 18:53

Congrats to everyone who's had scans!

I can relate to all the nausea problems. Surprisingly, I've had a better day today, still nauseas but have managed to eat probably too much! I'm having to eat soooooo much to keep the nausea at bay which is really doing my head in. Also have managed to stay up to 10pm the last 2 nights which is incredible because I've been asleep by 8 for the last 3 weeks.

Still, all a bit nerve-wracking, no private scans and NHS scan isn't for 3 weeks! Hope it's all okay in there...Its a bit scary to say the least!

AnnieApple123 · 15/01/2023 19:17

The food stuff is sounding very familiar. Glad to know I’m not the only one. I bought lots of soup as was very into for a while, yet now I’ve gone off it completely.

@Narwhal88 I am on clexane/inhixa as well but due to finish at 12 weeks. Also on prednisolone, progesterone, and estrogen, (in the process of weaning off those!).

LBF2020 · 15/01/2023 19:54

Does anyone know if it's routine for the midwife/consultant to examine you (vaginally) at some point during pregnancy?
I only ask as I'm sure my gynae told me I have a short cervix back when I had my last laparoscopy. I'm worried that I might need a cervical stitch! I'll mention it to the consultant at my next appointment.

I've definitely got my sickness back. Just had a proper vomit and have had an awful headache all day. Not feeling great :-(

Narwhal88 · 15/01/2023 20:05

@BusyBushBaby yeah I'm also on progesterone pessaries and injections and estrogen tablets and patches but will be weaned off at 12 weeks. Will be glad to stop them all! I am guessing they will probably stop the clexane anyway but would like them to tell me to rather than just stop cos I run out 😕

AnnieApple123 · 15/01/2023 20:11

@LBF2020 It’s not routine but, if you have risk factors, they can scan you to check cervical length. It’s most often done alongside the anomaly scan. I have a friend currently who has a cervical stitch and is in her third trimester now.

I had my scan today and it wasn't good news.

I know my exact dates and I should be 8+3, however was only measuring at 5, I know early scans can be out, but not that much out, the difference between 5 and 8.5 weeks is significant.

They did see a heartbeat which makes it even more confusing.

It was the most bizarre experience, we knew things weren't okay but they just kept saying congratulations and asked us to select a photo to print. Now we're just in limbo land with no clear direction of what to do next

BusyBushBaby · 15/01/2023 20:33

I'm so sorry your scan wasn't as expected @Havanalily1806 . Would it be possible to have another scan in 1-2 weeks to confirm what is going on? Some EPAUs allow self referral so they might be able to see you?

ChloeN · 15/01/2023 20:33

@Havanalily1806 oh lovely so sorry it wasn’t better news😢 I guess because baby has a heartbeat they see it as all being okay! Was this at a private scan place? I guess all you can do is call epu and ask them to rescan in a week? X

sally16 · 15/01/2023 20:56

@Havanalily1806 id call epu tomorrow and voice your concerns!
I think scan places are a bit worried to talk bad news unless they have a confirmed mmc etc!
A lot of places don't believe that we know our conception dates either which I find very frustrating as is a small amount of women who are that irregular to have a few weeks of a difference to think about!

Hopefully EPU can give you some confidence or offer to scan again! Was it an internal scan? Because my abdo one at 6 weeks was pretty poor and I was looking at it thinking 'that doesn't look right..' but my internal today was totally different to even DS at the same gestation xx

LBF2020 · 15/01/2023 20:58

@Havanalily1806 I'm sorry, that sounds really tough and confusing. Was it a private scan? Can you ring EPU tomorrow? Where I had my private scan they were able to refer to ePU if something didn't look quite right. Do you think they'd be able to do that?
