@MinnieFirstTimeMum my dog and my partner have the same name 😭😅 I've had the dog a year longer than DP hahahah!

@ChloeN we had 2 choices last time and I let DP pick and was in such a mood about it that it didn't suit DS he picked the other one in the end 🤣🤣🤣

Don't realise how many people you dislike until you name a baby haha

That’s amazing about the dog and partner 😂😂

BCxx · 15/01/2023 12:23

Good luck @sally16 and anyone else with scans today 🤞🏼 I’ve still got another two days for my 9 and a bit week one. How are you feeling about tomorrow @DesertSnow ? Is this the first 12 week scan or is anyone else tomorrow too?

DesertSnow · 15/01/2023 13:02

@BCxx I think one lady has already had her 12 week scan and has had her due date brought forward to late July. I'm nervous! It's silly, because my symptoms are so full-on, but it's almost like I'm in complete denial there's actually going to be a baby in there. Anxious that they might find I've had a MMC or that something else is wrong 😣

I've been asked to go in 30 minutes before the scan appointment tomorrow morning for another blood test because I'm Rh negative and they want to check the baby. Not sure how to work out the logistics of the full bladder! 😅

Good luck to everyone with scans today!

The talk about names reminded me - when my brother was born, they gave him the same name as the cat - who was still alive, so they had to rename the cat 😂

We're pretty sure we know what we'd call baby as there are so few names we agree on. But I'd like to have a couple of options and wait to finally decide when we meet them, in case the one we've settled on just doesn't seem like a good fit.

Amme18 · 15/01/2023 13:05

@DesertSnow that’s so funny! As if they just renamed the cat 🤣

My other half’s mum changed her mind when she registered him but never changed it at the doctors…ever. I changed it for him last year when realised his covid passport would say the wrong name for going abroad 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ She also told him he had an extra middle name (one his dad hated) but also found out last year that wasn’t true when we saw his birth certificate 🙃

ChloeN · 15/01/2023 14:10

@DesertSnow i didn’t realise we needed full bladder for the 12 week🤦🏻‍♀️ I’ll be weeing myself🤣 when I went to mine last weekend she told me to go to the toilet before!

BCxx · 15/01/2023 14:28

@DesertSnow good luck! im sure you’ll be fine and you’ll get good news! Itl be a huge weight off your shoulders 🤞🏼 The last early scan I went for I drank two big cups of juice exactly an hour before and went to the toilet at that point too. She commented on how full my bladder was but I hadn’t reached the almost bursting point yet! So that’s my strategy going forward, staying generally hydrated all day then just under a pint an hour before and hopefully not be uncomfortable 🙈 it made such a difference at that one compared to scans in my last pregnancy, feeling like I couldn’t think of anything other than the fact I was about to pee myself!

DesertSnow · 15/01/2023 14:31

Yes the only being able to think about not peeing myself is a bit of a worry! @ChloeN @BCxx 😂Thanks for the tip, I'll try just drinking a lot while I'm there and hope they're running on time!

BCxx · 15/01/2023 14:34

@DesertSnow yeah you definitely don’t want a delay! 😅

Narwhal88 · 15/01/2023 14:46

Just had my scan. Baby is absolutely fine and measuring 3 days ahead (my dates are exact since it was ivf). It was moving so much kicking it's arms and legs! Could even see all the toes. I didn't think it would be that clear for 9 weeks 3/6 days. So relieved, though not sure how long that will last till the anxiety kicks in again 😂

I've had 4 embryo transfers where you need a full bladder - they stick a long catheter inside you whilst doing an ultrasound, it's really unpleasant!
I didn't drink anything for it, just didn't go to the loo when I got there and drink a little if needed there and then. You don't need to be bursting for the loo, just comfortably full (so you need to go but can wait).

Firsttimemomma1 · 15/01/2023 14:59

@Narwhal88 amazing news! So happy for you!!!

BCxx · 15/01/2023 15:23

@Narwhal88 congrats on the scan! That’s amazing! I’ll be just over 9 weeks on Tuesday and just went straight from 6 to 12 week scans last time but I’m looking forward to seeing something that looks like a baby this time 😊

AnnieApple123 · 15/01/2023 15:37

Thanks everyone for the info on when nausea stopped. Hopefully it won’t be long now. Glad to know I’m not the only one showing as well. I’m going to need to be quite strategic about what I wear this week as I’m not ready to announce to the world yet.

@BCxx Yes it’s hard to feel name options are ‘second best’ from last time, isn’t it? A boy here most likely would get the name which was alternative choice for DS. Although my top girl name has actually changed as it’s risen steeply in popularity since then. I don’t mind saying - it was Rose/Rosie.

@sally16 That’s hilarious about your DP and dog!

I like Leo but used to have a cat called that, so it would now feel like an odd choice. It’s got very popular now though too.

@BCxx and @ChloeN I’ve had an email specifically saying you don’t need a full bladder.

AnnieApple123 · 15/01/2023 15:45

So glad all is well @Narwhal88 . Hope you’re getting on OK too @sally16 .

ChloeN · 15/01/2023 15:48

@AnnieApple123 ooo hope mine doesn’t require it🤣 are your scan nerves bad now you’ve got a definite date?

@Narwhal88 amazing news☺️☺️

AnnieApple123 · 15/01/2023 15:55

@ChloeN I’m already debating moving it. It’s booked for Thursday at 12+3 but could be changed to Monday at 13 weeks. The one thing putting me off is how I missed out on getting a NT measurement last time.

OP posts:
BCxx · 15/01/2023 16:03

@AnnieApple123 my one on Tuesday is still early so going to drink the same for that one but hopefully just bring hydrated will be plenty by the 12 week scan. Even my 20 week one said you should have a comfortably full bladder last time but I ended up going to the toilet on the way in and it made no difference, I think after the early scans you’re probably fine

DesertSnow · 15/01/2023 16:13

@AnnieApple123 my letter says to have a 'comfortably full' bladder. As if there's such a thing when pregnant!

Also waiting for the nausea to chill out over here. I'm 12 + 1 and it's as full on as ever. Trying not to overthink it.

sally16 · 15/01/2023 16:22

Scan was perfect, 10 weeks exactly and see baby wiggling it's bum and waving! Had to have an internal in the end as images weren't very clear and I'm glad I did, the difference was huge!!

AnnieApple123 · 15/01/2023 16:22

@DesertSnow Bizarre that different places say such different things. Even different staff at the same place sometimes I’ve found.

@sally16 amazing news! So happy for you.

Can I ask when everyone got their dating Scan letters? I had my booking app a week and a half ago and I’ve got everything else but my dating scan letter.

I’ve been referred for consultant led care due to chrones disease and have an appointment for that on 10th Feb but this seems to be just a more intense booking apt with a consultant rather than a midwife and I’m still expecting a letter re: the dating scan.

Appreciate I’m only 8w 5d but i need to advance book time off work and, ultimately, I want a date to look forward to!

BCxx · 15/01/2023 16:33

@sally16 aw great, so glad the scan went well ☺️ That will put your mind at ease
