I have been SO exhausted and I'm getting behind on things in work too. I'm 6+4 today and I've got a big deadline on 25th November when I'll only be 11 weeks so don't think the exhaustion will have lifted by then. I think I've been doing too much at the weekend and need to take it easier. House is an absolute state and husband is picking up a lot of the childcare after work too. I hate the first trimester, it's the worst and you keep it a secret so feel like you can't ask anyone for help. We'll have to see how the next 6 weeks goes and maybe ask family for help around the house if it gets worse. Not being sick thankfully...yet. but sleeping so much!

Babybaby66 · 25/10/2022 09:54

Hope everyone is well. I organised an early (as I was in denial I was pregnant) scan at what I thought was 7 + 3 but seem to be measuring at about 6 + 6 (although she measured twice and got two different measurements so I’m not too worried at this stage). Saw the heartbeat which was surreal! Too early to share with anyone else really so thought I’d share here. Feeling a bit more chilled about the whole thing now and hoping I can just cruise to the 12 week scan with a lot less stress and anxiety….

@Babybaby66 congratulations on your lovely scan 🥲 I think the dating can be really varied on early scans so definitely don’t worry! How lovely! X

Babybaby66 · 25/10/2022 10:08

Thanks @HalWin2221 ! Hoping this is the end of my overthinking every minor thing now - I’m never usually particularly anxious but this is bringing out the worst in me!

ireneadler101 · 25/10/2022 10:11

Síomha · 25/10/2022 08:26

@Klb18 it can be such an anxious time but you but if you’ve heard their heartbeat the odds of things going okay shoots right up.
I was very anxious with my second but seem to be incredibly chilled about things this time around - which is bizarre, as I’m such an anxious person 🙈 I’m almost 35 too!

@firsttimelondonmummy, I’ve no noticeable symptoms at the minute either and 5+5 too, going to the loo a bit more than usual is the only one really that’s persisted really. And I’m shattered but I’m trying to wean a boob mad 2 year old which might be contributing 😅

Nothing tends to start until week 7 for me!

@Síomha - I'm also trying to wean my 2 year old but not having much luck - any tips?! I still feed him to sleep which is proving to be the trickiest feed to drop. I can distract him during the day but bedtime is a nightmare!

Been taking it easy today. Cleaning the house a bit and relaxing. Toothache keeps coming and going. Still struggling to sleep at night, keep waking up multiple times. Will be 7 week+3 today. Next scan 7/11 and booking app 9/11. Not yet received any confirmation of my 12 week scan but may probably have another before then as I think they are wanting to scan me every 2 weeks atm. The aspirin I have to take with water and it's so disgusting 😐

Do you get a letter about the 12 week scan or does that get generated after the booking appointment, I have my booking appointment on 6/11

NalaNana · 25/10/2022 10:42

@theodora2146 might be different in different areas but my midwife said she'd make the referral for the scan after the booking appointment. Had the booking appointment last Monday and got my scan date through yesterday

Okapi99 · 25/10/2022 11:24

Well woke up this morning feeling fine. I really think it's work and sleeping during the day that makes me ill. Not sure what I can do about it. 😐

justbelieve · 25/10/2022 12:09

Has anyone received a letter for their dating scan but nothing from the midwife about booking appointment?

Pumpkincat11 · 25/10/2022 13:12

Hiya, hope I'm okay to join. We found out last Wednesday that we're pregnant after over 3 years of trying ❤️ I'm 5 weeks today!

Pumpkincat11 · 25/10/2022 13:14

That should say over 2 years, not 3 🤦‍♀️

BobbySD345 · 25/10/2022 14:42

@Babybaby66 what a cute scan pic! Congratulations 🎊 Can I ask whether it was an internal scan at that many weeks? Not sure how far we have to be before we can have a "normal" scan xx

Babybaby66 · 25/10/2022 15:19

@BobbySD345 it was internal. She didn’t even try an external - the place I went said they might try an external first at 8weeks but I was 7+3 ish. To be fair the internal was totally fine. Slightly uncomfortable when she was looking all around (checking there was only 1 baby in there!!) but never painful. Are you booking in an early scan? I’m really glad I did - just didn’t believe there was anything in there before!

BobbySD345 · 25/10/2022 15:21

@BabyBabybaby66 We will definitely do lots of private scans but I will probably have GD again so will get lots of NHS ones too from about 20 weeks. Early scan wise, we will probably do 2 private ones before the NHS 12 week one because I can't get to 12 weeks without seeing a heartbeat. My anxiety would be through the roof.

BobbySD345 · 25/10/2022 15:25

@Pumpkincat11 Congratulations! The feeling you must have experienced when you saw that positive test 🥰

Pumpkincat11 · 25/10/2022 16:19

@BobbySD345 me and my husband must've cried for a good 20 minutes 😂 I thought once I was finally pregnant, I'd be so happy. But I'm so scared of something going wrong 😂 I'm trying to remember, there's a higher chance of it going right!

AstroH · 25/10/2022 16:39

Hi! I found this group online last night, it's been lovely reading all the messages and seeing that I'm not alone in all my worries 😊I'm 8+1 due 5th June 2023 and it will be my first baby. I was dizzy from 5 weeks but the nausea and sore boobs didn't hit until 6 weeks. Sore boobs is all the time, the nausea comes and goes, but it worse in the morning and evening. I get a bit anxious when I'm not nauseous in case it means something is wrong, which I'm trying to get better at.

@BobbySD345 I booked a private scan for 7+2 weeks and assumed it would be internal but when I got up on the bed she gave me tissue to tuck in my waistband and went to squeeze gel on my stomach. I was surprised but she managed to find the baby fine, get a heartbeat and some good pictures/measurements (7+3). This was in the US though (I'm here for work) so I'm not sure if that makes any difference.

I also have another scan booked in the UK for 9+3 because I'm so anxious about something going/being wrong. I got advice saying it was okay to book as many scans as I wanted/could afford to help break up the first trimester and stop my mind spiralling all the time. I'm still pretty anxious but the 7 week scan did reassure me somewhat.

@Pumpkincat11 is so right, there's such a higher chance of things going right than going wrong. I try to remind myself of that multiple times a day. I found this website very helpful: datayze.com/miscarriage-reassurer

DrinkingAllTheGin · 25/10/2022 19:20

Morning sickness is kicking in this week. Just when DH is not here.
I've not told many people yet, but SIL has guessed but thinks in I month behind so will have that surprise for her.
Desperate to get to the telling people stage.

Is anyone else not getting an early scan? I've seen a lot of people are.

HalWin2221 · 25/10/2022 19:42

@DrinkingAllTheGin I’m really unsure about an early scan! I’ve had 2 MC so I think the anxiety of having one and if I measure weeks behind it will worry me more. Are you going to get one?

does everyone else feel like every day feels like a month in early pregnancy 😑

Ally1992 · 25/10/2022 19:50

@DrinkingAllTheGin I thought about it but decided not to, I have my booking apt next week so hopefully the wait after that doesn’t feel too long!

firsttimelondonmummy · 25/10/2022 19:58

Hey all,
Seen lots of posts about appointments and scans.
This seems to vary hospital by hospital.
I was originally going to go St Thomas (self referred a week and a half ago) and today I got a scan appointment only.
Decided to change to Chelsea (as closer and still read great things).
Self referred Friday and got both Midwife and scan appointments yesterday.

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 25/10/2022 20:12

@theodora2146 I didn't get my 12 week yet. I've got the booking appointment letter about a week after I self referred. I had private scan at 7 weeks, referred to EPAU who then want to see me at 9-10 weeks due to the complications. I'm wondering if I get my 12 week letter after I see midwife at booking app

DrinkingAllTheGin · 25/10/2022 20:17

@HalWin2221 no, probably not. Similar reasons. I had a mmc last November so my 12 week scan will be nerve wracking enough.
And yes I agree, it must me months since I tested positive, not just 2 weeks!

HalWin2221 · 25/10/2022 20:21

@DrinkingAllTheGin sorry for your loss 🙁 I hope your feeling okay during this pregnancy. How far along are you?
