I am only 9 weeks but my tummy has got huge!

I have been lucky not to have morning sickness and have been eating normally but I am massive. Is this bloating?

I look so obviously pregnant but am not ready to share the news until I have my 12 week scan. Is anyone else’s tummy … erm… massively expanding so early on?

DrinkingAllTheGin · 18/11/2022 09:38

@BobbySD345 I did, but it was touch and go!
I have just been offered dome food at work and had to turn it down ad I was only being sick 15 mins beforehand!

B1993 · 18/11/2022 09:40

@WarriorsComeOutToPlayaaay, yes! Even in the morning before I’ve eaten/drank I look noticeably pregnant 🙈 I can’t remember noticing anything with DS until around 14 weeks but seem to have been huge from day 1 with this baby!

Have you told close family yet? I have but not sharing the news with work until the new year!

B1993 · 18/11/2022 09:45

@BobbySD345, I had my son in 2019 and did the NIPT through the NHS with him. It’s something you opt to do though - my midwife asked at my booking this time and my bloods will be taken when I have my scan, I believe. The NHS one isn’t as good as the one you can do privately but gives you an indication of any genetic abnormalities, in addition to the nuchal fold scan.

BobbySD345 · 18/11/2022 09:52

Re a bump, I am sure mine is just bloat. I am noticeably firmer to the touch where everything is 'forming' low down under my belly. Sorry if TMI but I have been massively constipated and bloated so I am sure my massive belly is just that. I'd love to use the excuse that it is a bump forming but at 9 weeks surely that isn't possible ! I remember my friend being obviously pregnant at 13 weeks so I am expecting a bump by then ! Thank goodness it is winter and we can hide the bloat and bumps for a while !

HalWin2221 · 18/11/2022 10:29

@B1993 thank you for the reply & reassurance ♥️ just had our scan and baby is fine 🥲 measuring right on 8 weeks & great heart beat!

WarriorsComeOutToPlayaaay · 18/11/2022 10:39

@B1993 @BobbySD345 glad I am not the only one! Close family members know I am pregnant but I was hoping to get to 12 weeks through before telling friends and work. There’s no chance of doing so given the belly! Even wearing baggy winter clothes it’s prominent!

B1993 · 18/11/2022 11:31

@HalWin2221, wonderful news! 💖 I'm so pleased you had a great scan 😊 It also makes me feel better about my fluctuating symptoms. Although mild nausea this morning has also eased my mind a bit!

I'm in the same boat and my bloat bump is massive and very obvious even in loose clothes @WarriorsComeOutToPlayaaay. Luckily, my work fleece is extra baggy and doesn't draw too much attention to it so either work colleagues haven't cottoned on yet or a too polite to ask! 😂

BobbySD345 · 18/11/2022 12:09

I bought one of those long duvet coats and it's enormous so other than sweating like mad if I go anywhere, it covers up everything. That and then a tactically placed scarf for once I've taken the jacket off helps. I don't wear anything tight unless going out somewhere nice anyway which helps !

dresslol · 18/11/2022 13:29

@WarriorsComeOutToPlayaaay @BobbySD345 @HalWin2221 @B1993 you have made me feel so much better, I have had such a big tummy, and I know it’s not the baby! The bloat is soo bad and so much worse in the evenings. Thanks for sharing as I thought it was just me.

The first 4 weeks I looked about 6 months pregnant due to the constipation. I took Lactulose for a few days and that really helped.

tempname124 · 18/11/2022 13:50

Hi everyone, I'm due around 19th July 2023 so almost 6 weeks pregnant now. I just wondered when is normal date for booking in/bloods? I called midwife centre last week and they said they'd get in touch this week but haven't... impatient to get the ball rolling on the bloods and things like that!

tempname124 · 18/11/2022 13:53

oh sorry just realised this thread is June not July. But still maybe someone knows the answer!

B1993 · 18/11/2022 13:57

@tempname124 I didn't get my bloods done until my booking appointment, which was at 8+5 (I think). Some trusts ask you to get them done before though so I think it depends on your area.

tempname124 · 18/11/2022 14:02

Ah thanks. Just got through to them on the phone and they said booking in is usually 10 weeks so I won't get the appointment date for a while. I'm feeling really anxious and weirdly paranoid about the bloods! (Probably for no good reason!)

B1993 · 18/11/2022 14:05

@dresslol I think it's completely normal, especially if you've been pregant before!

I've been taking Active Iron Pregnancy Plus this time as Pregnacare Max made me super consipated in my first pregnancy, which is very common with iron supplements. Not sure what brand of vitamins you're using @BobbySD345 but might be worth giving the iron a miss for a few days to see if that helps? @blebbleb's suggestion also sounds like a good one!

B1993 · 18/11/2022 14:07

@tempname124 this whole first trimester can be so worrisome! Someone else might know more, but I think the bloods are just to check your blood type and iron levels so really nothing to worry about 😊

tempname124 · 18/11/2022 14:14

I have somehow convinced myself I could have hepatitis or HIV and am going through all my precious sexual encounters trying to remember if I used condoms, a couple of times in by twenties 🙄 it’s totally ridiculous because if I wasn’t pregnant no way would I be worrying about it, but suddenly I feel this insane level of responsibility for the little poppy seed!

BobbySD345 · 18/11/2022 14:40

@B1993 do you know I never even thought it could be the iron !! I've only got 3 more days of these pregnacare max and then I am moving onto just the folic acid and vit D so hopefully I will notice a difference. Thank you for pointing that out !

BobbySD345 · 18/11/2022 14:41

I was tempted to try lactulose but thought I had best use it when we don't have plans in case it is extremely effective...🤣

dresslol · 18/11/2022 15:26

@B1993 @tempname124 I totally agree, the first trimester is such a worry, I’m waiting for the Panorama test results and then will have to decide whether I need an amniocentesis, it feels like it’ll be so long before I can tell anyone just in case things don’t work out.

BobbySD345 · 18/11/2022 16:01

Does anyone else feel emotional all the time? Not angry or mood swings like with PMS but more just everything remotely sad or thought provoking on TV for example makes you well up?

blebbleb · 18/11/2022 16:16

@BobbySD345 yes I'd definitely use it after work when you don't have anything social organised! It worked very quickly but did give me some cramps!

DrinkingAllTheGin · 18/11/2022 17:17

I have never been so windy as I am this week. Its embarrassing at work!

HasHus86 · 18/11/2022 18:14

@Veryxonfused how did your scan go today?
