Morning all! How are we today?! 48 hours to go to my follow up scan at 7+4. Honestly I don't know so how I've made it through this much of the week of waiting. Still have all the symptoms - am totally wrecked, all the food aversions, back ache, tender boobs, gastro symptoms etc but I know that many people have them even when things haven't gone well. Am switching a lot of crappy tv at the moment as a distraction and because I'm too wrecked to do anything else!!!

Quokka7 · 13/11/2022 08:46

@Algor1thm I'm so pleased you had a good 11 week scan 💛 and not long to wait until your next one now!

Is anyone NOT having an early scan? In real life, no one I know said they had one (apart from one friend who went through ivf) but it feels like I'm in the minority here by not having one before the NHS 12 week scan...I'm now 10+2 and have been tempted on a couple of occasions, but im terrified of finding out something's wrong so would rather live in hope that everything's ok for now!

Baby3herewego · 13/11/2022 08:51

@Quokka7 I’m not having an early scan. Unless of course, the midwife thinks I should when I see her on the 21st.

ImHopeful2023 · 13/11/2022 09:06

Hi @IVFitis thank you so much for your reply and congratulations on your little one your reply means so much thank you

LT103 · 13/11/2022 14:30

We ended up having an impromptu scan this morning. Had some spotting yesterday and a little heavier spotting today. EPU don’t scan at the weekend so we just got a private scan. Baby is fine. Now 44mm and measuring 2 days ahead. It was a wriggly wee thing jumping and stretching around. So amazing to see. It just looks like a little baby now so lovely to see and calmed us down for a few daya

janie85 · 13/11/2022 15:08

I'm 8+1 today and have to wait another 2 full weeks for our private scan.. if I'd love some reassurance all is okay but will just have to wait.
My morning sickness is bothering me a lot this weekend, yesterday morning I didn't have any and felt great but then the tiredness kicked in massively and made me really irritated (particularly with DH) and really moody. Today I feel really crap again, I slept 10 hours last night and today I've been in bed feeling knackered and almost like I'm coming down with something.
Anyone else just completely whacked??

B1993 · 13/11/2022 17:04

@TrulyMiss, the constant waiting of the first trimester is the worse but not much longer to go now!

@Quokka7, had I not had the spotting I have, I doubt I would have gone for an early scan this time around. Since you’re past 10 weeks, the countdown is on for the NHS one now!

@LT103, sorry yo hear about the spotting but great news that the scan all went well! 🤩

@janie85, if you’re symptoms are strong and you’ve not had any worrisome bleeding/cramping everything is likely fine!

Hlc86 · 13/11/2022 18:33

I'm another one who hasn't had early scans, although it is tempting. I got my NHS 12 week scan appointment through and it's on the 6th of Dec so will be exactly 12 weeks (I think). The full feeling is really bugging me, I'm hungry but soon as I eat I'm full after one mouthful or feel sick, lost 6lb so far cause of it 🙄. How's everyone else holding up?

Rlt8990 · 13/11/2022 19:02

Hlc86 I'm the same as you, hungry but sick at the same time ! Eating same portions as my toddler but not really full either! It's awful didn't have it this bad last time. Has anyone got a gp to prescribe antisickness due to nausea ? I am also a few lbs down and struggling with food and drink but it's all nausea no physicsl sickness. Also I did have a private scan but I had to wait until nearly 13 weeks for my nhs one and it did put my mind at ease

I’m 8 exactly and feeling this massively. I slept 12 hours last night - couldn’t even keep down a banana this morning (threw up twice) then slept again from 2pm-6pm and I am so ready for bed already. Just feeling queasy and heart burny constantly. Have some very busy work days later this week and totally dreading it 😔 - hope you feel better soon!

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 13/11/2022 21:38

Me too. Hungry but can't eat. Haven't lost weight though funnily enough. Tired too so much. Keep going between being able to eat then not. Hoping it soon settles down. 10+2weeks now.

BobbySD345 · 14/11/2022 07:10

I only work 3 days a week because we have a 3 year old who only has 3 days of childcare. This means I haven't been at work since Weds and Tues and Weds were work from home. To say this morning was a shock to the system is an understatement. I cannot seem to function in the mornings for feeling exhausted and queasy. Thank goodness we have Christmas coming up but the next few weeks are going to be so challenging. I wish I had some holiday left to take ! Working full time or in an industry which is quite physical or demanding must be so so difficult in 1st trimester.

@Texasholdem20 try something a bit more plain instead of a banana. I find they upset my stomach if I eat them first thing. Maybe try something like a ginger biscuit initially and then an hour or so later try a banana or cereal.
Also agree with the exhaustion. Set my alarm the other night and it said 10 hours 49 mins until wake up. Woke up still feeling so tired!

Algor1thm · 14/11/2022 07:16

I'm 11+1 and finally symptoms seem to be calming down a bit! 7-10 weeks is the worst. I'm not feeling great but definitely a lot better than a few weeks ago. Hang in there!

DrinkingAllTheGin · 14/11/2022 09:07

@Quokka7 I'm not having an early scan either. Like PP, I prefer to live in hope all is well. and somehow having the scan in a hospital feels better should the worst have happened.

Sickness is worse today, I think because I am exhausted from a sleepless Saturday night.

FLA92 · 14/11/2022 11:20

I’m 8+6 today and the nausea is really getting to me! I haven’t physically been sick but have felt close. When does the sickness usually start to subside?

I read it peaks at 9/10 weeks… I really hope not 😭

janie85 · 14/11/2022 13:16

It's good to hear so many of us are in the same boat. Although sending solidarity to everyone feeling rubbish as well :-(
Would be great if we all felt better at Christmas wouldn't it.
We have my parents over, my brother, my sister and BIL and DN it's going to be a full house and I'm just preying I enjoy the food and the company!

tigerlily0 · 14/11/2022 15:19

I'm 11+3 and nausea /sickness has definitely gotten less awful and I'm not as exhausted as I was between weeks 7-10. But I still have that sick hungry feeling if I don't eat then I eat a couple bites and my tummy expands to the size of 8 months pregnant and I just feel bloated and awful and full for 24hrs until the next morning then the vicious cycle begins again.

Iv had quite fast conceptions and no mmc and no complications whilst pregnant with my other 2 but this time around I really wanted to see my baby early. Maybe because I'm older and I'm less patient and feeling the first trimester hell of a lot more so wanted something to look forward too. Had it last week and my nhs scan is next week when I'm 12+4. Plus I don't think 6-8 years ago private scans were this common, I don't remember anyone having them back then.

BobbySD345 · 14/11/2022 18:58

I feel so ill tonight. Struggled all day today. First day back at the office for a full 9-5 though which was always going to be tough. No 5 min lie downs and no constant grazing to help the nausea. Contemplating a scan this Friday when I should be around 9 weeks but also thinking if I feel this ill, everything is clearly OK. It's when the symptoms subside that I get anxious.
How is everyone else doing today?

AstroH · 14/11/2022 19:18

I’m 11+1 today and definitely not feeling so awful. Currently experiencing a nausea wave right now but it’s been so much better than it was weeks 6-10, exhaustion is less too. I’m hoping this means by the end of the first trimester I’ll be feeling a bit more like my old self. @janie85 I’m really hoping I feel better by Christmas and can enjoy all the food even if I can’t enjoy the booze! Thinking of everyone feeling really crappy atm.

Totally get what you mean @BobbySD345 about the anxiety when symptoms subside. I’m trying to be calmer about it now but around 6-9 weeks I stressed every time I felt well!

I caved today and booked another private scan 😂My NHS one isn’t for another 2 weeks when I’ll be 13 weeks and it just felt so long away. I reasoned I’m only planning on being pregnant once and if it’s good news at the private scan next week, I should be calmer for the NHS one that I’m going to with DH. I cried before the 7 week one he came to & I worry I sort of ruined it for him with my anxiety. And if it’s bad news then I’d rather hear it sooner & from the nice sonographer I had last time rather than a stranger at the hospital.

B1993 · 14/11/2022 19:22

Hi all, sorry to hear some of you are really suffering today!

Other than feeling fatigued, my nausea seems to calmed down a LOT since yesterday. I'm not worrired as my symptoms seem to fluctuate quite a bit and am used to them coming and going. After being sick multiple time Friday/ Saturday, I am a bit relieved in truth, being back at work today. I'm not sure how I would have handled needing to leave the classroom, if needed, without also having to explain why and the reason! We're on a school trip tomorrow so hoping for another sickness free day or it's going to ge an absolute nightmare!!

BobbySD345 · 14/11/2022 19:22

Hubby has made me potato waffles for tea as all I seem to be able to cope with at the minute is beige savoury salty food. Diet has consisted mainly of toast, marmite, cheesestrings and ready salted pringles lol.

Veryxonfused · 14/11/2022 19:34

I posted about a week ago about feeling anxious because my nausea is going away
well today I projectile vomited in a car park so that was fun 🤣
im 12+1
despite that I am actually feeling better, it was a very weird moment

DrinkingAllTheGin · 14/11/2022 20:35

Potato waffles sound amazing right now!

AstroH · 14/11/2022 21:36

@BobbySD345 @DrinkingAllTheGin I feel you! I am currently eating potato waffles about 5x a week 😂Had one today as a snack to keep me going until dinner.
