Hello ladies, I got my 12 week scan date letter through for in a few weeks time, but I also received a separate letter inviting me to a telephone hospital appointment with the doctor for the day after. It says on the letter ‘we’d like to reassure you that your case has been reviewed by a clinician and concluded it’s safe to offer you a telephone appointment’ I didn’t have this call in my last pregnancy. I had a Caesarean last time, and now 35, do they have the chat about the risks this early? Or do you think something came up on my blood test results?

Hopeful1992 · 06/11/2022 09:35

@Hlc86 i believe if you don’t know the exact date of ovulation they date it to around 2 weeks before your positive test? But overall the scan will make the decision on dates etc
my cycle I conceived, ovulation wasn’t until day 40. Because I knew the date I could put this into the pregnancy plus app and it told me correctly how far gone I was, rather than adding on anther 3/4 weeks!

B1993 · 06/11/2022 10:04

@Hlc86 They do adjust the date based on cycle length - the nhs have an online calculator which does it for you taking into account your cycle length. Then, at the dating scan, they'll give you a new EDD (if needed) based on baby's measurements.

@ilovecakes1 I haven't personally had a telephone appointment after a scan. I have an appointment a few days later with the consultant but that's because I'm consultant led care and need to start on injections during my pregnancy.

Is there a telephone number on there that you could call and just explain you're not sure what the appointment is for? I'm sure it's nothing to worry about though!

I’m 10 weeks today and omg the exhaustion has been intense. Much worse than the nausea, which has been grim at times but I think I’ve learned ways to mitigate it. I’ve been at my mum’s most of this week and she’s been brilliant with the cooking and tidying. Hats off to all of you ladies who are already mums, looking after DC when feeling like this must be so tough!

I was feeling a bit down a few days ago from the exhaustion and the almost endless worry about the baby and getting to the end of the first trimester. Question for those of you who are already mums, does the anxiety get better after the 12 week scan?

@BellaTheDarkOverlord I hope your scan goes well tomorrow and your earache improves soon, it sounds so painful!

PinkPink1 · 06/11/2022 10:14

First pregnancy so can someone please help me? My cycles are irregular but I do know I’m 21dpo as I track ovulation (I tested at 13dpo and it was a blazing positive). Do I use my last cycle length (35 days) to predict how many weeks I am or the other cycle lengths which can be 40+ days? I think I’m 6 weeks pregnant based on the 35 day calculation. Also, do I need to see a doctor? Thank you.

Hlc86 · 06/11/2022 10:31

Thank you ladies for your replies, it makes things so much easier being able to talk about things and ask questions on here as I'm sure I do my husbands head in with all my questions 😂. Looking forward to when the first scan letter comes through as will seem real then. I think my lazy day is justified today as awful weather here in Norfolk ☔

B1993 · 06/11/2022 10:54

@AstroH For me anxiety improved towards the end of the second trimester/ beginning of the first trimester. I could feel regular movements by that point so that was when I felt most at ease.

@PinkPink1 since you know roughly when you ovulated, you'd just count back two weeks from that date to get an accurate measure of weeks.
i know a friend who gave that date as their last period when asked by midwives to make things easier as she had irregular periods.

PinkPink1 · 06/11/2022 11:53

Thank you! That makes sense. I ovulated around 16th October so I think that makes me six weeks.

Hi everyone, not sure if anyone has had a similar experience or not. Currently 7+4, had my scan this morning, could see baby measuring 6+4 but heart beat was “a little bit slow for the sonographer’s liking” so she referred me to EPAU to have an internal scan. EPAU have booked me in for Tuesday, in the meantime EPAU did bloods today and my HCG was in range (70000) but she said my progesterone levels “are not good”. They were 26 and she said they like to see 40+. When I googled it, it said they can range from 9 - 47 in the first 12 weeks so I thought 26 would be good? Any advice, experience or thoughts would be very welcome… I had a MC in July and I’m just all over the place…. Thanks

LouLa7 · 06/11/2022 14:23

@PinkPink1 I think that would make you 5 weeks today if you counted back 2 weeks from the 16th Smile I only say that because I'm around 6 weeks pregnant myself and I found out I was pregnant on the 16th October xx

It’s a bit of a headache figuring it out. Especially how you’re pregnant before you’re actually pregnant lol.

B1993 · 06/11/2022 15:46

@positivethoughts1 I'm sorry your scan didn't go as hoped today 💔 It must be terrifying 😢

I've go no personal experience but I think I'm right in saying that at @CaliGirl47's last scan they also found a 'weak' heartbeat. Maybe she can offer a better insight?

I'm sending lots of positive vibes your way and hope both of your follow up scans bring some much needed good news!! 💖💐

Hi lovely fellow pregnant ladies! I briefly posted on the first thread but have been absent for a while mostly due to dealing with morning sickness, tiredness (so so much tiredness), a sickness bug from DS and a chest infection being treated by antibiotics.

I am sooo nervous all my illness has caused harm to the baby. I am 7+1 today, have a scan booked 3 weeks today so will be 10+1.

My boobs also aren't half as sore as they were, anyone else experiencing this?

Hopeful1992 · 06/11/2022 16:34

@janie85 i was panicking the other day, my boobs went from being massive and sore, to back to normal. Fast forward two days and they were back bigger and more sore than ever. Symptoms can fluctuate so try not to worry 💕

Catcuscool · 06/11/2022 18:01

Hi everyone, hope you are all doing OK!!!
Currently 8+2! It's my first pregnancy so it's all very new. Anyone else struggling with feeling constantly hungry/nauseous but then over-full after like 2 bites of food?? Feels so weird!

I’ve been having similar concerns… I’m 9+1, really not had much in the way of morning sickness or fatigue so far. Had an early pregnancy scan at 7+2 and everything was completely normal - sonographer said she felt 95% sure it would be a successful pregnancy. I had a week where I felt a bit nauseous, sore breasts, but not much else. Nausea seems to have subsided and after having had a MC, I’m worried about my lack of symptoms… Anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks

NalaNana · 06/11/2022 18:24

@PrincessLeia22 I felt like my symptoms were improving from about 8 weeks in that I wasn't feeling as nauseous, boobs were still sore but not as sore etc overall I just felt more comfortable. I was worried but had a scan at 8+5 and everything was fine with strong heartbeat!

I'm 10 weeks today and was only sick for the first time last night, but have felt the symptoms a bit more over the last few days. I think it's normal for them to fluctuate throughout the first trimester.

Algor1thm · 06/11/2022 18:38

Aaah I lost the thread after creating the original one! So just jumping back on!

Algor1thm · 06/11/2022 18:41

Anyone else on baby #2+ and showing so much earlier than before! Can't believe I have a bump already! I look like I did at about 18-20 weeks with #1 and I'm only 10!

B1993 · 06/11/2022 19:44

@Algor1thm Yes! 🤰🏻I feel huge already! I’m around 9.5 weeks and definitely look more like 20 weeks. In fact, we finally told our parents this week (mine and DH’s) and MIL asked if I have a bump yet - I think she was being polite as she clocked it - and I said that I’m so bloated I could easily pass for 20 weeks 🙈 Luckily I have a work fleece (all the staff do) which is a bit big so no one has noticed my ‘bump’ there, otherwise I’m finding it hard to hide! 😅😬

HalWin2221 · 06/11/2022 20:04

@Catcuscool i had extreme hunger in the first couple of weeks! Still have the hunger, that is paired with the nausea!

Veryxonfused · 06/11/2022 20:29

Does anyone know how many people can attend a 12 week scan?

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 06/11/2022 20:32

@AstroH Thanks. Scan in morning so hopefully goes well. Fingers crossed. I'll be 9+3 weeks.

Waiting on callback from 111 doctor for ear pain. It's in the temple and cheekbone and going all around eye, jaw and back of head down to neck. Worked it's something more. DH made me ring as it's ramped up so much today and I'm struggling now as paracetamol aren't working. Hoping I can get OOH appointment as GP won't give me an appointment.

blebbleb · 06/11/2022 21:07

@Veryxonfused it depends on your hospital policy, you would need to ask them. Mine allows 1 person with you.

BobbySD345 · 06/11/2022 21:30

I have my first scan tomorrow. I managed to get one at the EPAU because of my history. Its right in the middle of the day so having the time off work is really tricky. I'm going to ask to move my lunchbreak and hope they don't mind. So nervous.

To add to my falling down the stairs woes, I had to go to the Hospital on Thursday as while we were at Butlins I was poorly. Turns out it's a UTI. I got lots when pregnant with my little boy so I recognised thesymptoms to be fair. Problem is, the anti boitics upset my tummy. I'm already queasy almost all day. Just keep telling myself how grateful I am for the symptoms.

I'm now taking, pregnacare plus, the higher dose of folic acid, progesterone pessaries and anti biotics. Oh and the occasional paracetamol for my foot which is getting much better after my tumble. Never taken so many tablets ! 🙊

Is anyone on here lactose free? Can't remember whether I've asked already about whether I ought to take a calcium supplement 🙈
