@Hopeful1992 They look good to me ! Maybe do a clear blue digital with weeks indicator? I got a 4 pack online to track hcg.

DrinkingAllTheGin · 27/10/2022 20:15

7+4. So far I have actually lost weight. I can only assume this is due to chocolate giving me heartburn so it is out! As I am overweight I am not worried about this! 3lbs in the last 10 days.

Hopeful1992 · 27/10/2022 20:16

@BobbySD345 thanks I’m definitely over analysing things! I do have another CB digital I used one Monday (11dpo) and was 1-2 weeks so I might hold of until next Monday to make sure I’ve given enough time ☺️

Veryxonfused · 27/10/2022 20:57

Is anyone else really struggling with people not ‘believing’ in their pregnancy - I know this sounds really stupid because most people probably haven’t told anyone.
I had a miscarriage this year (my first pregnancy) and hid my pregnancy from everyone except my mum that time, she kept it secret from the rest of my family
With this one I told my mum and she immediately told my siblings and my dad. I also told my friend who recently had a MC and another close friend, since I ended up telling them about my MC anyway so just thought I might as well.
But my family have barely acknowledged my pregnancy, as in my siblings (except my brother who seemed happy but just keeps forgetting i’m pregnant) have literally never mentioned it, nor did they ever say anything about my miscarriage. And whenever I get excited my mums attitude is more like ‘we’ll see what happens’
I sent my friend my scan photo at 7 weeks and one of the things she said was ‘it’s still early’ (despite me saying that anyway)
The only person I feel like I can talk about it with is my friend who had a MC but I don’t want to upset her.

I even had a dream that my friend (not the one who had a MC) told me that nobody actually thought I was going to have a baby and everyone thinks i’m going to have a miscarriage 🤦‍♀️
I honestly thought I’d struggle with people getting excited and then losing it, but actually it’s the opposite. I don’t want people to get massively excited but I just feel like it’s doomed and they all know something I don’t.

Probably a very weird thing to get sad about at 9 weeks but there you go

natkasz · 27/10/2022 21:12

Yeah, the prices of the scans have skyrocketed. I have actually today mentioned to my DH that it sounds like perfect little business- no medical qualification is required and a 15 min scan is £60. I even came across one where they asked for £25 in addition to £60 to find out if I'm carrying multiples - they would be looking at the same uterus so I found that to be absolutely ridiculous.

I have today arranged my booking appointment and dating scan. Had to explain to the girl on the phone that I don't want to have a scan when I'm 12+1 in case I'm in fact dated a few days earlier (which would prevent me from having the combined test). Also, since when are booking appointments conducted via telephone?

I must admit that I'm getting a bit worried as I still have no real symptoms apart from sore boobs but my first pregnancy was also relatively easy in that respect so maybe things are the way they should be 🤷‍♀️ I'm 6+1 by LMP but probably 2 days behind due to late ovulation.

LouLa7 · 27/10/2022 22:18

@natkasz if you don't mind me asking, why would being dated a few days earlier prevent you having the combined test?

I'm also starting to worry about my lack of symptoms! I have nothing at all. Not even sore boobs, and for both pregnancies before (1 MC and 1 DD), sore boobs happened straightaway. I guess maybe I'm tired but that can totally be put down to the fact that I'm so busy with life at the moment. Trying not to panic because I know every pregnancy is different and I'm not even 5 weeks yet so I know there's plenty of time, it's just odd because of how different I feel to previous pregnancies 🤷🏽‍♀️

natkasz · 27/10/2022 22:25

@LouLa7 I was told that if I turned out to be less than 12w (which would most likely happen as they calculate it based on your LMP as opposed to the conception date), they would refuse to do the combined test and push it back which I didn't want to risk considering the Christmas break.

LouLa7 · 27/10/2022 22:29

@natkasz oh really? That's interesting! Was it a midwife who told you that? I always thought there was a quite a large buffer of when you could have the test, so something like between 10 - 14 weeks. You'd think they'd have loads of women who don't end up technically being 12 weeks at their scans wouldn't you, so that's annoying if they're turning people down?

natkasz · 27/10/2022 22:33

@LouLa7 that was always my impression but the girl who booked me in today said I had to be 12w 🤷‍♀️

LT103 · 27/10/2022 23:20

@natkasz maybe different depending where you are. When I called midwife to arrange appt, they asked me to go to my gp to pick up a pregnancy pack (Lots of information sheets, free vitamins etc) and the one about screening tests says scan and bloods for downs/edwards/patau can be any time from 11 to 14 weeks. I’m still waiting on my scan date but Think we’ll have bloods then too

AstroH · 28/10/2022 01:26

@Veryxonfused I'm really sorry this is happening, it sounds rubbish.

I have told a few people (my attitude was that if I would talk to them about a MC, I would tell them about the pregnancy, especially if it came up in conversation), my mum & sister, a few close friends and after the 7 week reassurance scan my DH told his close family too. A few of these people mentioned how early it all was, maybe because people are so used to it being kept a secret till 12 weeks? But at 9 weeks, the chance of MC are really quite low and it's totally cool to be getting really excited. I'm sorry your friends/family aren't following your lead.

Hopefully they'll come round in the next couple of weeks? If it helps at all, we all believe in your pregnancy and if you ever want to talk about all the little exciting milestones you've got coming up or rant about symptoms, we're all here!

B1993 · 28/10/2022 07:27

Scans are so expensive now! The place I used with my first has closed down due to family circumstances. I think I paid something like £50 back in 2019. There's not one that's close now and the going rate seems to be £60-£85 for a 5 min scan. 😱

You got a bargain @CaliGirl47!! I'd have definitely snapped a scan up at that price too!

@Hopeful1992, I think the test is lighter due to diluted urine. I really wouldn't be concerned if I were you! 💖 You could always retest with a 3-4 hour hold and minimal fluid intake if it would be reassuring for you.

@Veryxonfused it sucks that you've not been able to celebrate your pregnancy with those closest you you and they haven't shared in your excitement. It must be hard but I can only imagine that they are trying to be cautious after your loss. In my past pregnancies I told close family immediately after testing postive but after my loss decided to keep this pregnancy secret. I've even fibbed to my mum about being pregnant because I'm just not ready to share. It's hard to even accept that this pregnancy will result in a baby at times, especially as it hasn't been an easy road so far with all the bleeding! It sounds to me like they are struggling with similar feelings/worries.

@natkasz I also thought it was between something like 10/11-14 weeks?! 🤔 Midwife didn't mention that it had to be after 12 weeks at my booking appointment either. She went off my early scan dates of 5-6 weeks for my 12 week scan date but put me through as 6 weeks (at the time of the scan, I'm over 8 weeks now) so surely she would have gone by earlier date if you have to be a minimum of 12 weeks to complete the tests?

Hopeful1992 · 28/10/2022 07:57

@B1993 your are right I did another this morning and it was much stronger and FRER was strong also. I’m going to stop testing now so I don’t drive myself mad haha

B1993 · 28/10/2022 08:25

@Hopeful1992, I was a bit addicted to testig, too 🙈and I only ended up stopping once I got my 3+ on CB digital. It's totally normal and lots of people use line progression to reassure them that things are progressing normally.

B1993 · 28/10/2022 08:28

@Tinkerbell098, have I remembered correctly that today is your scan to determine the next steps with this pregnancy? Wishing you lots of positive vibes and strength 💖

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 28/10/2022 09:17

@B1993 Yes my scan was £60. Worth it though since they caught all the complications early. I've got my next scan 7th at EPAU.

LouLa7 · 28/10/2022 10:33

@B1993 @Hopeful1992 it's so easy to get addicted to testing isn't it? I have just got my 3+ on the clear blue test today at 4+6 from my last period, so i think it's time to put the tests aside now.

I keep doubting I'm even pregnant though due to the lack of symptoms 🙈 Considering an early scan to put my mind at ease but I have a bit of a fear of internal scans following a previous miscarriage. For my first pregnancy I had an early scan because I was spotting and then went to EPAU who scanned me, we saw a flicker of a heartbeat (I was around 6 or so weeks), then as soon as I left I started having cramps and miscarried after a couple of hours. It's likely that the scan had absolutely nothing to do with it, or if it affected anything at all then it probably just brought on the start of something that was going to happen anyway, but yeah I suppose I have a bit of anxiety around them now so I'm keen to avoid unless absolutely necessary. Any idea when the norm is to scan abdominally?

firsttimelondonmummy · 28/10/2022 10:52

First scan today and I had my dates bang on 😂 6 weeks 2 days today.
Too early for heartbeat but everything looks good so far 🤞🏻 sac is the right size etc.
booked an 8 week just so we can see more.
Your all right about scans as well that was £80 but worth it for a bit of peace of mind at this stage!

@LouLa7 That's great that you got 3+ already!!

I had an early scan through EPAU and was dated by them at 5-6 weeks (I know when I ovulated though so was more like 6+1). I had an empty bladder and they still found baby with strong heartbeat abdominally and it only took a few minutes!! I was really surprised as with my first I had an early scan at 6+2 and they couldn't see anything abdominally so had an internal scan in the end. I'm not sure if I was just lucky not to need an internal this time since I was so early or if that's quite common. 🤷🏻‍♀️

@firsttimelondonmummy Lovely photo 🤩

MrsP4 · 28/10/2022 11:43

Hi everyone I posted yesterday on thread three thought this one was full already 🤣

Anyway I had my booking apt yesterday, all went well, my midwife is lovely so I'm happy! She said scans will come through the post and if I've not heard anything by 11 weeks then I need to chase it up. I've got to have growth scans as my BMI is on the lower side same thing happened first time around so I wasn't surprised. Had bloods and done urine sample all that jazz.

Also had my flu jab yesterday which wiped me out was dead tired after it and had a headache through the night but feeling ok now!

Looking forward to getting my 12 week scan through shouldn't be too long, I'm 9 weeks tomorrow. Second pregnancy seems to go much faster.

Also my midwife got all my notes up from my labour last time and we was shocked! My second stage of labour was only 15 minutes and total labour time was 6 hours 30 mins for first baby which she said was great talked about home birth because second babies apparently come a lot faster so I'm a little freaked out but think I'd rather go to hospital don't want all the mess in my house 🤣

justbelieve · 28/10/2022 12:15

@firsttimelondonmummy lovely scan!! Was it abdominal? I’ve got a 6 week scan on Sunday, so nervous but also excited!

firsttimelondonmummy · 28/10/2022 12:42

@B1993 this was abdominal (weird as it said on the website I was going to get transvaginal but I’m not too fussed as I’ve booked in again in a week and a half 🤣)
he was still really reassuring the size and everything was spot on and all looked well so I’m not going to start stressing because other people got heartbeats at this time.

@justbelieve mine was abdominally yeah 😊

firsttimelondonmummy · 28/10/2022 12:43

For context it is the first pregnancy I’ve been aware of also!

@B1993 I’m also going to stop googling because it’s driving me insane 😂😂🤣

Tinkerbell098 · 28/10/2022 12:48

@B1993 thanks so much for checking on me. The scan didn't show anything and they've done hCG blood tests which show the levels are staying pretty static (70 on Tuesday vs 68 yesterday), so are repeating bloods again on Monday. Still classed as PUL, and if levels aren't falling naturally, I may need intervention. Still no bleeding, in fact, my lining is getting thicker, so they're really puzzled!
