@PopGoesBang glad to hear you’re feeling more upbeat and hopefully things are improving. We’ve had a bunch of checkups for our weird birth mark which sometimes has an associated syndrome, but it seems like we’re in the clear and it’s just a birth mark 🎉. We’re on some medication so it doesn’t swell as it’s on his face, but so far so good! He slept a 6 hour stretch 2 nights ago and is clocking in at almost 9lbs at 8.5 weeks, way up from his 5lb birth weight. I’ve got a little chonk and I’m very happy! Hope you’re all doing well, and @Beth262 fingers crossed the toe is all better x

PopGoesBang · 06/10/2022 19:43

@madeleine85 that all sounds great! I'm so pleased things are coming back as they should be and you can hopefully have a break from all the tests and the worry that goes along with those. (There's enough to worry about with just 'everyday' things!)

Today was a good day again, just one bout of really bad crying. Wondering now if she has a touch of colic too - the spitting up is settled so much more but there is quite a bit of wind. So may try some infacol and see if that just helps her as well.
Have also put the raised foot thingy on her snuzpod now so that should help with the reflux too.

Now, just to get Dp to stop sneezing and coughing. She jumps every time 🤣

Hope everyone is doing ok x

mamaof2girls · 08/10/2022 11:06

Hope all is well with everyone. I am starting potty training with my 2 year old today. Praying it goes well! X

mamaof2girls · 09/10/2022 15:51

Can I ask anyone if they are formula or breast feeding if and when they got their first period back? X

PopGoesBang · 09/10/2022 18:01

@mamaof2girls I had mine back at 7 weeks, and I'm ebf. 2 weeks later than with my first dd. I am not a person who gets breaks from periods unless pregnant.

mamaof2girls · 09/10/2022 20:55

@PopGoesBang thanks. I can't remember with my first and then with my second I got the jag in the hospital after she was born so I never got a period as for me the jag stops it completely and wee man will be 7 weeks Wednesday! X

Cakecakecheese · 09/10/2022 21:32

I was wondering about periods too. I'm not breastfeeding and haven't had one yet and baby is 10 weeks.

squatternutbosh12 · 09/10/2022 23:25

Mine is 9 weeks old and I’m having first post-baby period. I’ll warn you, it’s not great 😂

mamaof2girls · 11/10/2022 06:21

Well after that message I started spotting yesterday so looks like am getting my first. Really tired with it though. 2 year old has took to potty training really well though so that's a bonus! X

madeleine85 · 11/10/2022 19:20

@mamaof2girls it is the best feeling when they just "get it". Hope the training sticks x

mamaof2girls · 12/10/2022 02:52

@madeleine85 aww yeah defo. My first was pretty easy so didn't think my second would be aswell. We started Saturday and obv few accidents Saturday but she's had no accidents during the day since then. And last night even had her first dry night! X

Passthetena · 14/10/2022 22:27

It's my first baby's 2nd birthday this weekend! It's flying by far too quickly and despite baby baby only being 8 weeks....I'm broody 😳. She's so so easy going and the birth was so amazing compared to my first that I'd have 20 more but we've always agreed 2 only, my partner is still happy with just 2 but I'm finding it surprisingly hard to accept I'm done. Financially and emotionally I know 2 is the sweet spot for us with being able to give them a good life and plenty of attention but I just want to give birth again 🙈. Thank god he's getting the snip soon because these hormones would have me presenting him with a 5 page PowerPoint about why we should have more babies trying to convince him otherwise.

mamaof2girls · 15/10/2022 20:45

@Passthetena hope you had a good weekend celebrating your child's 2nd birthday. They defo grow to fast.
My little one will be 8 weeks Wednesday has his jags booked for Friday and outgrowing all his newborn clothes so time to up him to 0-3 and it's making me so sad and emotional as he's our last aswell. We are the same financially couldn't have another and am not sure I could do Labour again as yes I have had them easy but they have been so bloody sore 😂😂 x

ToCaden · 16/10/2022 08:27

It is crazy how fast they grow. Mine is ten weeks now! He's vocalising so much and so interactive with people and his toys. I've had those black and white fabric toys since he was teenie and he's just started hugging it to hear it crinkle. He loves his hanging toys at the moment, and is much more social than me. He has quite the busy social calender at the moment just to appease his desire to be around people (especially when they sing).

Still dealing with digestive issues (pain passing gas and pooping), but even they thankfully are getting better. Hopefully they'll continue improving as it's horrible to see him in pain.

It's magical to have a fairly recipricole conversation with him and when he smiles at the moms in our groups when they talk to him.

He told an admitedly terrible joke a few days ago. I made a big deal when he accidently caught me on the side of my face and all that day and the next he'd try to hit my face while grinning and laughing.

We sorted through a pile of toys we'd been given yesterday and he was very clear about the ones he liked and the ones he wasn't so sure of (apparlently singing elephants are inherantly suspicious but singing dolls are fine). It's great to see he's his own little person now.

Gem2811 · 20/10/2022 13:13

Hope everyone is getting on well! Anyone have any tips for nap times I'm honestly at my wits end with it my 9 week old has all of a sudden decided she won't nap. She screams holy murder, hauls at my hair and face cause she's over tired but won't sleep I can literally get nothing done all day. Tried white noise, going out in the pram only works sometimes and if she wakes whilst we are still out she screams. She falls asleep in the sling sometimes but I still can't get anything done 12 hours a day it's hard going now 😔

Mufflette · 20/10/2022 13:41

@Gem2811 we had this at 8 weeks, I think it's the time when everything gets exciting for them and they get fomo! The thing that's helped for me is the Huckleberry app, logging baby's sleep and following the 'sweet spot' for when the next nap should be. It means I'm now picking up on the tiniest tired cue that before I would think was being hungry or needing burping and his napping time has increased loads as I catch the tiredness before he's so overtired that he can't nap til he exhausts himself.

Gem2811 · 20/10/2022 13:49

@Mufflette thank you I downloaded this the other day I've not been successful with it so far she only naps for 30/40 mins at a time and just constantly fights sleep hopefully it's just a phase as listening to her overtired cries just makes me cry 😢

Mufflette · 20/10/2022 14:06

@Gem2811 oh no! I think it may be a phase though, as it seems to coincide with them being able to see more things so the world suddenly has more to offer, fingers crossed things are different again by this time next week for you

Isonthecase · 20/10/2022 23:28

@Gem2811 not the best long term solution but have you tried feeding to sleep when overtired? Might get you through the phase, likely only a few days until they start being able to self settle anyway.

EveryMumDay · 21/10/2022 10:56

@Gem2811 I'm sorry to hear about your little one not napping.....I went through that phase a few weeks ago and totally sympathise with you. It's exhausting physically and emotionally. What I did was used the same techniques/routine for evening sleep during nap times during the day. For example, nappy change, milk, sleeping bag, swaddle, pat to sleep with white noise on. If you want and your little one likes bath time, give one during the day as well as night time bath. It takes a few times but you can nail this within 2-3 days....Just stay strong. One of the posters above mentioned look out for early signs, which I agree. For me, it was 2 yawns (3rd yawn would be overtired), pulling hair, fidgeting arms, etc, I would make sure awake time was maximum 20-30mins. My little one is 11 weeks today and so far day naps are working well only sometimes he has those annoying 'cat naps' 😔 Wish you all the best x

Gem2811 · 21/10/2022 15:37

@Isonthecase @EveryMumDay thank you for the suggestions I will give them a go 😊 fingers crossed!

mamaof2girls · 08/11/2022 20:53

How is everyone and their little ones getting on? X

ToCaden · 09/11/2022 14:56

14 weeks here and hitting growth spurts where he eats constantly, but the reward at the end of them is amazing. Last one he literally woke up able to do so many things he hadn't been able to when he went to bed.

It's astounding how quickly they develop. Holding onto those moments to get me through the sleep deprivation leading up to them and the frustration he shows when he decides he's speaking in full coherant sentences and we're being annoying not understanding what he's asking for right away.

Isonthecase · 10/11/2022 16:52

Such a lovely stage isn't it? We're loving it! I miss sleep but having a proper little person who can chatter away is so lovely 😍

Beth262 · 10/11/2022 21:58

Hey everyone I hope you and your little ones are all doing well.

Apologies I've been MIA for a while. I've been suffering with migraines, a fussy baby and a toddler who doesn't want to sleep!

But back now and catching up on how you've all been 🙂
