I'm wearing my pre pregnancy clothes. However my pre pregnancy clothes are mostly dresses made from a stretchy jersey material so they have a lot of give!

Conundrum for anyone who was breastfeeding but has stopped out of choice or necessity-

I stopped breastfeeding/expressing altogether about a week ago and since then (after some extreme engorgement hell) my milk has dried up, however my boobs are still doing the let down thing where they tense up and get hard and get stabbing pain sensations in my nipples just like would happen before milk was released, when there was milk, but now there is no milk… so why is this still happening?! It’s super annoying and it hurts! Will this eventually stop?!

squatternutbosh12 · 11/09/2022 15:19

It’s like a boob erection FFS 😂

Isonthecase · 11/09/2022 19:48

Apparently you can shove cabbage leaves in your bra to help calm things down. I'm not entirely convinced the person who told me that wasn't on the wind up.

Squeezed in to my pre pregnancy baggy jeans today. Straight back in leggings, life's too short.

squatternutbosh12 · 11/09/2022 21:29

I thought the cabbage thing was a piss take as well, but it did actually help when I was very engorged. Whether that’s just because they were ice cold and remarkably boob-shaped, or whether there is actually something to do with the sulphur in the leaves reducing inflammation (apparently)…that I don’t know 🤣

mamaof2girls · 14/09/2022 18:54

Partner goes back to work tomorrow so I have 3 kids myself and nursery runs etc to do 🙈 really not sure how am feeling about this now it's here haha! X

Beth262 · 14/09/2022 20:25

@mamaof2girls No advice but just want to say good luck! Trying to get DS1 to creche one day a week is hard enough for me! 😂

It's actually not too bad! You'll be fine, trick is just get up earlier than you ever dreamt you'd need and then nap when you're back and free from mobile kids 🤣

mamaof2girls · 14/09/2022 20:31

@Beth262 oh god don't. This morning I tried getting us all ready myself wee boy was crying girls needed dressed I got stressed and had to get my partner to help 🙈 I have to have 3 kids and myself ready and out the door at 7.15 5 days a week! X

mamaof2girls · 14/09/2022 20:33

@Isonthecase well my plan is 5 o'clock every morning waking up. Problem is am never able to nap when I have the kids myself. My toddler doesn't nap till after 12 and by that point my 3 year old is home from nursery and doesn't nap 🙈 x

Beth262 · 14/09/2022 20:51

Hats off to you both @mamaof2girls and @Isonthecase I just about make it out the door by 845 to get him there in time for breakfast 😂 I'd never manage 5 days a week!

OP posts:
Isonthecase · 14/09/2022 21:46

@mamaof2girls why 7.15? Nursery don't generally mind if the child is a bit later in. And while you're lowering standards may I recommend the child safety in cot and Peppa on TV approach to day napping?

@Beth262 some days are a lot easier than others! I just get both out the house in to childcare, me and baby can come home to brush teeth, breakfast, etc...

mamaof2girls · 14/09/2022 22:13

@Isonthecase we stay abit away from the nursery meaning we have to get a bus etc and the walk to the bus stop is a little bit away from the house so as can imagine with a 2 and 3 year old it can be abit off a longer walk than needing to be! X

madeleine85 · 15/09/2022 00:46

@mamaof2girls good luck!!!we have a toddler who my husband takes to daycare and they barely make it out by 9 some days. Sleep deprivation really does a number on us!

thanks everyone for the post pregnancy clothing sympathies at the weekend. The gym and no midweek wine regime has recommenced… the slacking off was good fun while it lasted 😂

Gem2811 · 16/09/2022 03:54

I know newborns can be congested but how long does that normally last? My dd is 5 weeks old and is sounding so congested in the middle of the night I don't know if I should be worried or not. I can't sleep cause I'm so worried and dh just tells me I'm being stupid?

Isonthecase · 16/09/2022 05:29

@Gem2811 if you're worried, see the GP. I think some level of congestion is normal though, especially in back to school season where everything is going around.

Mufflette · 16/09/2022 05:44

@Gem2811 mine is the same, apparently it is quite normal but it does sound so uncomfortable for him!

I've got Sterimar baby saline nose spray which helps when it gets really bad, and a humidifier which I think helps a bit.

madeleine85 · 16/09/2022 15:14

@Gem2811 i have a snot sucker battery powered thing off Amazon which seems to help. Also 5 weeks old and a bit congested. Though also sometimes spits up milk out his nose 🤦‍♀️

Gem2811 · 16/09/2022 15:54

Thank you everyone she seems to be fine during the day it's only sort of early hours of the morning for a couple of hours then it's gone again. I'm going to try some saline nose spray @Mufflette.

@madeleine85 I have a tommee tippee snot sucker pull them out all day 🤢😂

Passthetena · 17/09/2022 03:11

These kids are trying to kill me! I know babies don't sleep well but she's been awake for over 3 hours now and every time she starts to doze off toddler wakes us all back up 🙃. We've resorted to one of us sleeping on the toddlers floor and one of us desperately shoveling milk into the baby in an effort to get more than an hours sleep. Can I have the sleepy baby who I had to set alarms to wake for feeds back please?

Congratulations @Celyn22 - what a journey but so very worth it.

Has anyone else been suffering with back ache since giving birth? Lower back in particular. Mines in pieces. I'm sure I'm not helping it when feeding her over night. I'm considering squeezing a chair in the bedroom so I can sit better supported rather than in bed and ultimately hunched over. Mentioned it to the gp last week and had a massage in hope it would help. Gp said pushchair was at a good height and things should settle. Massage helped that day but back to really feeling it. Currently sat on the sofa with a hot water bottle trying to get some relief.

Hope everyone is doing ok.

mamaof2girls · 18/09/2022 19:39

Congratulations @Celyn22 sounds like you have a rough Labour but it defo is all worth it when you have your little baby in your arms.

If anyone is bottle feeding how much are you baby's taking and how many weeks are they? X

mamaof2girls · 18/09/2022 19:39

@PopGoesBang have you had a epidural or that? I had really bad back pain a for awhile after giving birth but it has went away now! X

PopGoesBang · 18/09/2022 19:43

@mamaof2girls I did have an epidural- I remember back ache was mentioned as a side effect.
Gp didn't seem concerned and said it's more likely everything settling back down after stretching etc. I have my 8 week check next week so will mention it again.
