Hi everyone, I know this is might be a bit early to start a thread but after more than 2 1/2 years of trying the overwhelming excitement is real!

Me and my husband lost out first at 10 weeks back in December 2020 and to be honest had kind of given up. I only peed on a stick at 16DPO because a banana repulsed me to the point of spitting it out! Trying not to be too excited or paranoid, but we'll see how that goes. 🤣

I've ordered the Pregnancy after Loss book by Zoe Coates Clark in an attempt to keep my sanity, but the going to the loo fear of seeing blood is real. And I've booked an apt to talk to my GP on Thursday at 5+3 to talk about whether or not progesterone would be appropriate.

Thankfully my husband is level headed and reminds me not to get too ahead of myself yet, but it would be great to meet others in the same boat for a hand hold.

@Melusina123 I'm in London too, just checked and my "ideal" course looks ok availability wise at the moment, but maybe we should just book it. Feels like jinxing it when I haven't had 20w scan l, but I appear to have the wriggliest baby so I know there's something in there at the moment!

I googled it (obv) and apparently more movement means boy (one study, lots of inconclusive studies as well). Very excited to find out, just under 2 weeks.

@IWillBeWaxingAnOwl well done! I'm going to go to pregnancy yoga on Monday too. The first one I tried was a bit too woo for me, so excited to see what a different place is like.

Melusina123 · 31/12/2022 14:45

@MO22 that's good re NCT. Also @IWillBeWaxingAnOwl I've started pregnancy yoga too. It's ok so far although I've been the only person <26 weeks both times. 😂 Telling myself it's good I'm getting onto it early.

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 31/12/2022 15:04

@Melusina123 @MO22 my yoga doesn't start till end Jan! Only because they're all full before then ☺️

Blue2020 · 01/01/2023 14:08

Does anyone else get backache? I’m pretty sure it’s due to my posture when I’m sitting or sleeping but it’s uncomfortable at times.

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 02/01/2023 22:49

I'm back to feeling super worried 😓. Not much movement at all today that I can feel, no bump, and have a wee sore bit at front lower left. I hate the lack of insight and control in this whole thing!!! Thank goodness we have a repeat scan on Thursday otherwise I'd be panicked booking a private one.

Anoushka1986 · 03/01/2023 02:48

@IWillBeWaxingAnOwl I'm feeling the same way today! Not much movement and I actually have bit of pain on left too. Looking forward to my scan on the 9th.

Blue2020 · 03/01/2023 11:10

@IWillBeWaxingAnOwl the whole 9 months is going to be an anxious wait right? I’m only half sure I can feel odd movements, every infrequently about 1-2 times a day. Even then it’s hard to tell, it’s still a bit like gas bubbles or very brief feeling low down to the side. It might be the anterior placenta covering some feeling I don’t know. I don’t have a scan now until 32 weeks, so I’m going to wait for the midwife appointment in two weeks and ask to hear the heartbeat.

It’s great you both have scans to help check on them again.

Melusina123 · 03/01/2023 12:41

@Anoushka1986 @IWillBeWaxingAnOwl I have lower left pain as well, I just attribute it to my colon being cross about something. 🤷‍♀️ Or maybe round ligaments.

Also I'm almost 23 weeks now, posterior placenta, and Grogu definitely still has quiet days. Yesterday they were pretty chilled out and it made me a bit anxious, but this morning they were full of beans. Up until 21 weeks at least, there were days, sometimes a couple in a row, when I barely felt them at all, presumably because of the position they were in.

Also I can still very easily disappear my "bump", even at 23wks. I think Grogu is just growing up rather than out for now? @IWillBeWaxingAnOwl didn't your midwife say that could happen?

@Blue2020 yes to backache, also hips, and my upper back/neck have been really painful, probably a combination of already loose ligaments (I'm hypermobile), relaxin, and heavier boobs (up 3 cup sizes and they were already 30H. 🥲 30JJ is not an easy size to shop for). I've been needing to take more paracetamol than usual just to function, but I feel very guilty about it. 😔

MO22 · 03/01/2023 15:52

Also stressing over here! I think I'm trying to find a pattern in movement but it's probably too early. I felt it semi regularly the last few days and then been pretty quiet today. I will ask midwife next week but the movements definitely were helping my anxiety, and now scared again.

Bump is v small, @IWillBeWaxingAnOwl I'm sure it has to be to do with our height, the babies go up rather than out as it's roomy in there surely. At pregnancy yoga yesterday two people were at 20/21w and were also tall, and didn't have noticeable bumps either which helped a bit.

@Melusina123

MO22 · 03/01/2023 15:53

@Melusina123 oops posted too soon - I feel you on bra size, I started at F and I'm too scared to be refitted yet but none of my bras fit 😬

ratherbthedevil · 03/01/2023 19:35

We have our 20 week scan this week, it's where it all went wrong with our daughter so I'm hoping for a nice boring scan this time round.

We also found out it's another girl 💕 which brings its own worries as we have only ever lost girls.

ratherbthedevil · 03/01/2023 19:36

@MO22 I'm sure I read that movements don't really get a pattern until end of 2nd/start of 3rd trimester. I may be wrong though.

Wishing you a positive scan. We have our 20wk scan on Monday and after the early anomaly at 17wks seeing the heart had no major abnormalities was a massive weight off but I'm not going to relax until after Monday and the scan is done as 20wks is where it went wrong for us too

ratherbthedevil · 03/01/2023 23:42

Yes we had a heart scan too which showed no major abnormalities although the baby wasn't in the best position so we need to go back as there are some views they couldn't get. The report said "probably normal" which as you can imagine is very reassuring 😵‍💫 but now I'm just worrying about all the other stuff which can go wrong. This is the side of loss which is unexpected - joining various support groups and finding out there is so much more which can go wrong!

Anoushka1986 · 04/01/2023 06:37

@ratherbthedevil hope it goes well for you this week

Anoushka1986 · 05/01/2023 10:15

Anyone else starting to get excited? I just wish time would pass quicker.

ratherbthedevil · 05/01/2023 10:49

I only get excited when I see baby pics of my little boy and it brings back memories. I've found the time is flying by!

MRSDoos · 05/01/2023 11:32

Hey ladies! I hope you all had a lovely Christmas

I took a little break from mumsnet and social media

@IWillBeWaxingAnOwl I’m due 9th May 💙 22 weeks + 2 days

@Anoushka1986 We are going baby shopping on Saturday and I’m excited but a tiny bit anxious still

Janefx40 · 05/01/2023 13:31

Hello everyone. We had our 20 week scan today. All looked good although my uterine artery Doppler measurement was slightly high which can indicate pre-eclampsia or smaller birth weight. Always something to worry about.

@MRSDoos good luck with baby shopping!

@ratherbthedevil and @ArrrMeHearties good luck for your scans x

ratherbthedevil · 05/01/2023 18:53

Thanks @Janefx40. Do you have follow up scans? I'm not actually sure what Doppler scans are. Are they a new thing?

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 05/01/2023 20:25

All well at 21 wk repeat scan. Baby remains not v cooperatve but managed to get all measurements needed 🤣

Janefx40 · 05/01/2023 21:09

@ratherbthedevil she said it was a new thing but I don't know how new. It was part of the 20 week scan with the same equipment. She just looked at sound waves through the placenta. I'm pretty sure they did that with my daughter too.

ratherbthedevil · 06/01/2023 11:06

All good at my 20 week scan. Still can't relax though 🙈

MO22 · 06/01/2023 11:22

Pleased to hear all the 20w scans going well @Janefx40 @ratherbthedevil @IWillBeWaxingAnOwl

Anyone else got theirs next week?

Anoushka1986 · 06/01/2023 13:31

I've got mine on Monday @MO22 . I think you're a few days after aren't you?
